Have You Forgotten?

It’s weird how easy it is to forget things. My wife and I just watched the documentary Hating Breitbart together, and the pivotal centerpiece of the movie is the claim by Rep. Andre Carson, Indiana Democrat, that Tea Party activists shouted the n-word at him and other members of the Black Congressional Caucus. Have you forgotten?

That was March 2010. What was the occasion?

Oh, yeah: It was the day of the final congressional vote on ObamaCare, and the Tea Party crowd at the Capitol was shouting, “Kill the bill!”

Andrew Breitbart offered a reward of $10,000 — subsequently raised to $20,000 and then to $100,000 — for anyone who could produce evidence that anyone shouted the n-word that day. Nobody ever collected the reward, because the narrative was a lie.

Breitbart pointed out that there was a “sea of New Media” outside the Capitol that day. Everybody had video cameras or cell-phone cameras going, and if anyone actually had shouted the n-word, certainly someone would have collected that reward.

Nobody ever did. More than three years have gone by. Now ObamaCare is law, and very unpopular, and one of the biggest lies of our time — that the Tea Party’s opposition to ObamaCare was motivated by racism — has been conclusively debunked by the shameful silence of the Democrats who could not produce the proof of their lie.

Oh, but the Democrats never apologized, did they?

The media never apologized, did they?

And what has the passage of ObamaCare meant to America?

“If you’re covered and you like your insurance, you can
keep it,” said Congressman Gary Peters in August 2009.
Gary Peters made that pitch knowing it was false, and
it cost at least 225,000 people in Michigan their
health care. Despite these facts, Gary Peters
has refused to admit his deception or
apologize to the people he hurt.

That’s just one Democrat in Michigan, but is true of all Democrats everywhere. They rammed ObamaCare through Congress on a party-line vote. Not a single Republican voted for the bill. The Democrats and their media allies lied and lied and then lied some more.

And they’re still lying now.

President Obama just brought John Podesta onto the White House staff. Andrew Breitbart despised John Podesta — if you have seen Hating Breitbart, you know how much he hated him. But maybe you’ve forgotten that there ever was a guy named Andrew Breitbart.

You can buy Hating Breitbart now.

It would be a wonderful Christmas gift for your kids.

Arkansas Democrat’s Re-Election Ad: ‘Jesus Told Me to Vote for ObamaCare’

OK, it’s a little more subtle than that, but when Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor voted for ObamaCare four years ago, he knew this Day of Judgment was coming and now he says he’s seen the light:

Sen. Mark Pryor is out with a new TV ad offering a Biblical solution to the already heated 2014 Senate race in Arkansas.
Pryor’s campaign said the ad will begin airing on Wednesday. In the 30 second ad, Pryor speaks directly to the camera about his faith in the Bible. The ad is a substantial purchase for the campaign and will run statewide.
“I’m not ashamed to say that I believe in God, and I believe in His word. The Bible teaches us no one has all the answers. Only God does. And neither political party is always right,” Pryor says in the ad. “This is my compass. My North Star. It gives me comfort and guidance to do what’s best for Arkansas.”
Pryor ends the ad saying he supports the message because “This is who I am, and what I believe.”
Pryor is considered one of the most vulnerable incumbents in the country, partly because of his party line support of the Affordable Care Act and as his campaign is forced to deal with low approval numbers of Pres. Obama in Arkansas.  . . .
Pryor is facing Republican Congressman Tom Cotton, who is vacating his seat in the 4th congressional district.

Mark Pryor is a Democrat. All Democrats are liars. Therefore, if Mark Pryor says he’s a Christian, the exact opposite is probably true, and he’s got a pentagram-shaped altar in his basement where he engages in ritual human sacrifice to His Satanic Majesty.

TOM COTTON for U.S. SENATE
Because Jesus wouldn’t vote for Mark Pryor

BREAKING: Identity Theft Industry Considering Healthcare.gov Bailout

by Sissypuss the Blog Kitty

Recently I sat down with Howard T. Mendacio-Ledgerdemain (HTML), an old acquaintance and expert on The Identity Theft Industry. TITI has been flattened by the bad economy, much as anyone else. However, as this interview shows, TITI is actually well-positioned to stage an intervention, offering a lift for the sagging enrollment numbers at Healthcare.gov.

Sissypuss: You guys are criminals! Who would even reach out to you?
HTML: Be nice, now. I am merely a humble consultant, workin’ hard, tryin’ to locate and adhere to whatever the law seems to indicate at a given hour. People come to me with questions, and I offer purely hypothetical guidance, you see. People who cruise in orbits very, very close to the Resolute Desk. And who am I to turn them away?
S: So you’re talking about a White House advisor?
HTML: Could be, could be. But one always strives to maintain an Area Of Uncertainty in these matters, you see? Not unlike the Affordable Care Act itself.
S: So how exactly can criminals help the White House?
HTML: Must we be so pejorative? These are concerned citizens, just like Congress, who are being tasked to assist taxpayers in doing something for their own good, namely, get insurance.
S: Can you be more specific about the verb “assist”?
HTML: One of the chief impediments to enrolling, other than a website built by gerbils on Drano, is that the chief audience for ObamaCare–people who can’t spot a bad deal on a ballot or an insurance policy–also aren’t always swift about remembering where they live. And even when they have that information written down, and can read the information, they are not always quite so coordinated about entering it into a gerbil-crafted website. All that texting is bad for data entry. I’m not blaming the victim here. It’s really a complement to how well TITI’s education affiliates have blown up these peoples’ minds.
S: Not everyone could manage to sound so enthusiastic about a bad website with bad customers.
HTML: I’m a consultant, kitty: I’m a ray of sunshine to all needing their lemons turned into a Limon Collins.
S: And so what exactly happens?
HTML: Well, you’ve got a website that needs better numbers, you’ve got information about a pool of people, and you’ve got, let’s say, a catalyst. You should be on about a catalyst, no? Let’s say, hypothetically, that a bunch of people who needed insurance just kinda got it, and Healthcare.gov just kinda got the numbers it needs. Everyone’s happy. What’s not to like?
S: Hm. The transition from a government legally mandating you get insurance to a situation where you go to the mailbox and discover that, by magic, it’s all been done for you isn’t a large leap.
HTML: No, not at all.

Update: linked by the mighty Bill Quick, who, by the way, writes some rollicking good stuff. Thanks also to Regular Right Guy.

The Great Conflation

Just got through watching President Obama lying on TV, and the method of his dishonesty is what fascinates me. He (and other liberals) engage in a sort of rhetorical prestidigitation, whereby health insurance is conflated with health care. In other words, the Democrats would have you believe, if you don’t have insurance, you just get sick and die. But what they never mention is that most people are healthy, and the vast majority of Americans — whether healthy or sick — had health insurance before ObamaCare was enacted.

If you were part of the X-million who did not have health insurance (those numbers were always estimates, and there was serious disagreement about how many were in the supposedly pathetic legion of The Uninsured), that didn’t mean you were doomed to die a painful death without benefit of medical care.

Most people without health insurance were healthy young people. But by relentlessly hyping the allegedly widespread misery of The Uninsured, liberals  sought to justify a complex new federal regulatory apparatus that changed health insurance for everybody — including people who already had insurance with which they were satisfied.

The President therefore promised that everybody who already had insurance could keep it, and further promised that their rates would not go up as a result of the new law. But he lied.

Now, the President is attempting to convince us that everything is just hunky-dory. People who continue to oppose this law, the President would have us believe, are against health care — that is to say, he is conflating this legislation with health care per se, so that if you are against this particular law, you’re pro-cancer or something.

That’s right: Republicans want people to get sick and die, because illness and death are the only alternatives to the President’s policy.

And we all remember what life was like before ObamaCare: Everybody was either sick or dead, except greedy Republicans, who made lucrative profits from their investments in Death, Inc.

As I say, the method of his dishonesty is fascinating.

The Left’s ObamaCare Desperation

You know they’re desperate when they invoke “McCarthyism”:

When House Republicans unveiled a proposal in the fall aimed at avoiding a dead-end government shutdown over Obamacare, the conservative backlash was swift and brutal: they called it a surrender, a betrayal, an appeasement of the health care law they all abhor.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) decried it as “procedural chicanery” that would make House Republicans “complicit in the disaster that is Obamacare,” should they go along with it. FreedomWorks called it a “bait and switch to give the Senate a hall pass to fund Obamacare” and accused House GOP leaders of wanting to “cave and run.”
Since then the phenomenon has grown and taken hold in the 2014 primaries as Republicans accuse their opponents of privately harboring sympathies for Obamacare. . . .
In a way, the phenomenon is reminiscent of McCarthyism, named after Sen. Joe McCarthy, who in the 1950s accused U.S. government officials and others of secretly sympathizing with communism.

This is just crazy-talk which ignores the underlying political reality. Democrats rammed ObamaCare through Congress on a straight party-line vote in 2010, with Nancy Pelosi declaring “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it” and, in the next election, Republicans scored a historic landslide victory. President Obama was re-elected last year in a campaign that basically ignored the new health-care legislation, which had not yet taken effect. When the policy did take effect, it was an unmitigated disaster — not merely because of the glitchy web site, but because millions of Americans had their policies canceled, contrary to what the president had repeatedly promised. Also, contrary to the promises made by Democrats, ObamaCare is causing health insurance rates to go up, not down.

The only people who really benefit from ObamaCare are those who did not previously have health insurance and are now going to get it free because of Medicaid expansion — but pretty much all of those people are from hard-core Democrat constituencies, whereas the key “swing voters” are the middle-class taxpayers getting cancellation notices or rate increases. And this is nothing like “McCarthyism.”

ObamaCare isn’t about some shadowy threat of foreign subversion, it’s about a bad domestic policy that is directly hurting the pocketbooks of ordinary Americans who are smart enough to realize that they’re getting the shaft because Democrats wanted to give away “free stuff” for which hardworking taxpayers will foot the bill.

As policy, this is bad for everybody. As politics, it’s bad for Democrats, and it’s only going to get worse. No wonder they’re desperate.

VIDEO: ‘ObamaCare … Just Doesn’t Work’

Americans for Prosperity opened the 2014 campaign early, taking aim at vulnerable Democrats for their support of ObamaCare. This ad is aimed at North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan:

Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu is also targeted by the AFP ads, Politico reported when the ad campaign was announced in October:

Tim Phillips, the president of Americans for Prosperity, unveiled the Hagan ad at a press conference in Raleigh . . .
The organization devoted $1.7 million to North Carolina, and a little more than $500,000 to Louisiana, figures that reflect media market prices, Phillips said. Another $100,000 per state will be devoted to grassroots and social media efforts, he added.
“Both ads are unique, but the goal is the same: we want to make sure to hold both of these senators accountable over the long term for their votes that first passed Obamacare into law and now have upheld that law repeatedly,” he said.

AFP recently announced it was expanding its campaign to target Democrat Sen. Mark Begich as well as three vulnerable House incumbents, Democrat Reps. Patrick Murphy (FL-18), Joe Garcia (FL-26) and Ron Barber (AZ-2).

Administration Says ObamaCare Site Is Working; CNN Finds Otherwise

Elise Viebeck at The Hill reports:

The Obama administration claimed victory Sunday for making HealthCare.gov workable for the vast majority of users, a standard that will be tested as millions of people flood the site in the next three weeks.

Uh, do you really think “millions of people” will “flood the site”?

Or is that just what the administration is claiming? You might want to double-check, because claims by the Obama administration have a predictable way of turning out to be false:

ALISON KOSIK, CNN BUSINESS CORRESPONDENT: So tell me about what happened, because we’re getting another error message here, and it’s supposed to be running smoothly. . . .
MATT SLOANE, CNN MEDICAL PRODUCER: I got through. I picked my state. I put in all of my information and I got through the whole process in eight minutes. And then it said my status was in progress. So I went to refresh it and I got the error message.

The Lonely Conservative:

Noel Sheppard at NewsBusters wonders how many other news outlets didn’t bother to test the site and simply took the administration’s word that it’s now working just fine.

Honesty has never been a requirement for employment with the Obama administration — or with most of the media, either.

Bareback Butt Sex Increases 20%

Donald Douglas calls our attention to this startling news:

Federal health officials are reporting a sharp increase in unprotected sex among gay American men, a development that makes it harder to fight the AIDS epidemic. . . .
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of men who told federal health investigators that they had had unprotected anal sex in the last year rose nearly 20 percent from 2005 to 2011. In the 2011 survey, unprotected sex was more than twice as common among men who said they did not know whether they were infected with H.I.V. . . .
The findings are worrying because “unprotected anal intercourse is in a league of its own as far as risk is concerned,” Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, director of the disease centers, said on Wednesday as the figures were released. . . .

Read the rest at the New York Times.

You see, this was a fundamental objective of ObamaCare. During the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s, infected people simply died by the thousands. During the 1990s, however, treatments were developed that made long-term survival possible — but quite expensive — for the HIV-positive. This is why it was absolutely imperative that the Democrats (beholden to the gay lobby) forbid insurance companies to deny coverage for “pre-existing conditions.” Thus, people who are at zero risk for AIDS are forced, through higher insurance rates, to foot the bill for preventable diseases spread by irresponsible behavior.

Nobody wants to admit this, however, because facts are now “hate.”
