‘Fiscal Cliff’ Deal Rumored; Obama Supporters Cheer Tax Increases on Rich

Ace has examined the reported terms of the deal, which would raise taxes on those earning more than $400,000, if indeed it is a deal, but deal or no deal, President Obama refused to be distracted from his most important second-term priority, scapegoating Republicans:

Barack Obama held a last minute press conference today to bash Republicans and gloat about his election victory. At one point in his speech he bragged about how he’s going to be able to raise taxes on wealthy Americans.
His supporters cheered — as if they earned it.

Happy New Year, America. This is what you voted for.

The Chicago Way: Obamaland Reports 500 Homicides (So Far) This Year

“The city’s latest homicide occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday when Nathaniel T. Jackson, 40, an alleged gang member with a lengthy arrest record, was gunned down . . .
“Jackson was shot in the head outside Noah Foods at Augusta Boulevard and Lavergne Avenue, police said. . . .
“Jackson grew up on the West Side, a few miles from where he was gunned down, and had been released from prison this past summer after serving a sentence for robbery.”

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy are shocked — shocked! — to learn drug gangs don’t obey gun-control laws:

The rising homicide toll, 500 as of Friday, a 17 percent increase in slayings over last year — has been a looming shadow over Chicago, plaguing residents and the city’s leadership for much of the year. . . .
Experts warn not to put too fine a point on year-over-year increases in homicides, but Chicago’s tally this year is the highest since 2008. . . .
In McCarthy’s view, the proliferation of guns on Chicago’s streets, which he said is unlike any other city in the country, and the division of gangs into smaller factions are to blame for the homicide surge.
Many of these factions, or “cliques,” run low-level narcotics markets on street corners and flaunt their activities on YouTube and other social media websites, sometimes to taunt other factions or members of rival gangs. That often leads to violent skirmishes on the street, he said. . . .
Police statistics show that roughly 1 in 4 of this year’s homicide victims were affiliated with the Gangster Disciples — Chicago’s largest street gang that has gradually splintered into about 250 factions.

Hmmm. So, if you could subtract the Gangster Disciples from the equation, you would immediately achieve a 25% reduction in homicides. This raises the question of why Chicago police haven’t done a better job of identifying members of the Gangster Disciples before they’re shot dead.  Why is it that cops in Chicago can’t figure out that someone is a Gangster Disciple until he’s wearing a toe-tag in the morgue?

The Gangster Disciples aren’t a social club or a political activist organization. Criminality is the entire purpose of the gang, and all of its members are criminals, as the name of the gang rather emphatically implies. So it would therefore seem to be in the interest of Chicago law enforcement to (a) identify members of the Gangster Disciples, (b) subject these gang members to heightened police scrutiny, (c) arrest gang members if they so much as violate a city ordinance against littering or jaywalking, (d) prosecute them to the maximum extent of the law, and thereby (e) steadily reduce the number of Gangster Disciples who are out on the streets and killing people.

Maybe We Should Send Charlie Sheen to the University of Maryland

Charlie Sheen was on stage at the opening of his new bar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, when he he asked the crowd, “How we doing?”

The crowd gave a small cheer — not good enough for Sheen, who then said, “Lying bunch of faggot assholes! How we doing?”

This made headlines because Sheen had used a “homophobic slur.”

The University of Maryland would be so disappointed:

The University of Maryland (UMD) allocated $15,000 in 2012 to combat the use of language deemed by administrators to be “insensitive.”
The “words have power” campaign’s goal is to deploy posters, buttons and other promotional materials to help foster an environment on campus that is not offensive to illegal aliens, homosexuals, or other minority groups.
“Non-inclusive language can offend or make spaces uncomfortable for people who are excluded by that language,” one of the campaign posters reads.

Probably “lying bunch of faggot assholes” would be considered “non-inclusive.” The State of Maryland had a $1.4 billion deficit in 2012. Maybe you can think of some non-inclusive language for that.

Apparently our sanctimonious betters in Hollyweird put out Yet. Another. Hypocritical. Ad. demanding a plan to DO SOMETHING. That something apparently involves stripping Constitutional rights from innocents as a sacrifice to an as-yet-unidentified God Who Prevents Bad Things. I guess.
The video makes the point well, splicing the smarmy, overpaid buffoons with footage of them putting rounds downrange in various ways:

America, 2013 marks 100 years of Progress since Woodrow Wilson’s fell swearing-in. The only good that can come of this climax of idiocy is if the non-koolaid drinkers use this as motivation to vote out the gungrabbers and liberty haters in 2014.

#OccupyResoluteDesk sounds like he is going to make an ‘unexpected’ 180 degree pivot from his stated position pre-election. Obama is indeed conservative about a good crisis. Let this one be a bridge too far for him.

Supposedly the Russian GRU is circulating a report that the recently Navy SEAL Commander demise and non-availability of the Secretary of State are related:

This GRU report, however, states that US military flight logs recorded by Russian air and space forces confirm that Commander Price, and other members of US Navy Seal Team 4, left their base in Urozgan Province, Afghanistan on a flight to US Naval Support Activity Bahrain where they met up with Secretary Clinton and all of them transferred to the C-12 Huron that began a flight path to Baghdad, Iraq.

The whole thing reads like a drunken encounter between John Le Carre and The Onion. I can picture a roomful of GRU guys and some Stoli having a right jolly time putting this one together.

Obama Promises 2013 Gun-Grab Bill; Warns ‘There Will Be Resistance’

Never let a crisis go to waste:

Recalling the shooting of 20 first graders as the worst day of his presidency, President Barack Obama on Sunday pledged to put his “full weight” behind a legislative package next year aimed at containing gun violence.
In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Obama voiced skepticism about proposals to place armed guards at schools in the aftermath of the Dec. 14 deadly assault at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. . . .
Obama said he intended to press the issue with the public. . . .
“Will there be resistance? Absolutely there will be resistance,” he said.
“The question then becomes whether we are actually shook up enough by what happened here that it does not just become another one of these routine episodes where it gets a lot of attention for a couple of weeks and then it drifts away. It certainly won’t feel like that to me. This is something that – you know, that was the worst day of my presidency. And it’s not something that I want to see repeated.”
