Yesterday was bad. Saturday was spent finding out just how out of shape I am, and just how many books I’ve accumulated in forty-plus years. Sunday was spent enjoying painkillers and immobility. That having been said, here’s this week’s Rule 5 linkagery. Try not to follow the links where you shouldn’t.
Laughing Conservative kicks off with Lucinda Leong, Randy’s Roundtable offers Michaea Crawford, and Fishersville Mike salutes the Colts cheerleaders who got their heads shaved in support of coach Chuck Pagano. Reaganite Republican has a selection of rather weird women, Grumpy Old Man has girls eating ice cream, and First Street Journal offers women in uniform at training. A Trainwreck In Maxwell doubles up this week with Barbara Eden and Danielle Colby, a/k/a Danni Diesel.
EBL addresses a subject near and dear to my heart: women who love wombats. Also, Mary Woronov!
El Opinador Compulsivo brings back the black & white gallery, along with Kaley Cuoco, Michelle Waver, 80s hair, walking the dog Quebec-style, The Case of the Oxford Drug Mule (featuring Denise Milani), and Christmas-themed shots here and here.
A View From The Beach leads off with Carmen Electra, followed by the second blogversary, the BBC hiding the naked truth about cave girls, Gay Women Will Marry Your Boyfriends, ID That Tramp Stamp, Red, Blonde And Brunette Midnight Music, and a French girl singing like an angel.
Soylent Green’s Monday Motivationer is Aryane; then comes Overnighty Iryna, Tuesday Titillation Laura, Humpday Hawt Spassfabrik Solo Erica Ellyson, When All Else Fails Read The Directions, Overnighty preview, Corsetcare leftovers, Serbia Vampire Alert, Google Shoutout to Japan, Falconsword Friday, and AM Awesome Shannon.

Steven Michael Fabi (left) and Leigh Swanson (right)
Dan Riehl brings our attention to the case of 45-year-old Leigh Swanson, who went on a blind date Nov. 16 with a man she met online and whose body was found Wednesday in Michigan:
The Midland County sheriff’s department says 30-year-old Steven Michael Fabi was found dead Tuesday in a bedroom of a home in Edenville Township, in the Sanford area. Authorities say he apparently fatally shot himself as deputies were walking up to his house to investigate Swanson’s disappearance. . . .
Sheriff Jerry Nielsen has said Swanson called her mother from the man’s house on November 18th, two days after she left for the date.
Who was Steven Michael Fabi? We don’t know much about him yet, except that he was the prime suspect in the death of Swanson, whose body was found in woods near the house where Fabi lived with his family. A tip led police to Fabi’s house:
As two deputies arrived at the home, Nielsen said, they heard a loud “boom.”
A man came out of the house, according to the sheriff, and told deputies, “My son just shot himself.”
Swanson evidently had a premonition about Fabi:
“Leigh told me that she had a bad feeling about going on the date … I said, ‘don’t go,'” Swanson’s mother, Beverly Kane, explained.
“But when she got there … she called me … and said everything was OK,” her mother added.
You know when you get a spooky feeling about something? Trust that feeling. Maybe there’s not really anything to worry about, but it’s always better to be safe than to be a dead body in the woods. And let’s talk a bit about this online dating thing:
The social networking website where Leigh Swanson may have met the man who police believe killed her is working with authorities in the investigation.
“We are working closely with the Midland County Sheriff’s department to assist in their investigation of this tragic incident,” said Robin Shallow, MeetMe.com’s executive vice president of communications and public relations, in a statement.
Family told media Swanson met 30-year-old Steven Michael Fabi at MeetMe.com.
Obviously, it would be wrong to blame the proprietors of MeetMe.com for the death of Leigh Swanson, just as it would be wrong to suggest that every guy who uses the Internet to meet women is a potentially dangerous creepazoid. On the other hand, you have to ask yourself, “If Ted Bundy were alive today, how would he stalk his prey?”

Already we are told to blame the Tea Party movement for not taking back the Senate, even though more “moderate” Republicans lost their races than Tea Party supporters.
Two words in response to this tripe from the Establishment, the second of which is ‘You!’.
Here in Virginia, we had to watch George Allen, who is a Nice Guy, get his T. Coddington Van Voorhees VII schtick applied to him in the suppository fashion. Why was I subjected to televised debates of a brace of ex-Governors, one animated, the other not? Because Virginia’s open primaries permitted the Democrats to pick their poison, and that was the one they’d tossed under the bus in 2006.
Props to Tim Kaine; for a statist throne sniffer, he’s an excellent salesman. Door knocking for the GOP ticket, I encountered people happy enough to vote for Mitt, but planning to throw George under the bus. Perhaps Jaime Radtke would not have beaten Kaine in November, but she’d have been more than a 6’2″ wad of cotton candy in a suit, I reckon.
As I was saying on twitter the other day, the GOP has to articulate a non-Progressive course, rather than quibble with the Democrats over who gets the helm. The Tea Party is the solution for the GOP, not the problem.
Kim Kardashian, Alanis Morissette and the Creepiest Pop Trivia Fact Ever
Posted on | December 3, 2012 | 8 Comments
Kim Kardashian went to Bahrain to open a milkshake shop and police used tear gas to disperse a mob of Islamic extremists, one of whom held up a sign proclaiming “‘none of our customs and traditions allow us to receive stars of porn movies.”
Meanwhile, singer Alanis Morissette arrived in Israel for a concert in Tel Aviv, which sparked calls for a boycott from anti-Israel protesters.
On the subject of Alanis Morissette, Ben Howe informs us:
Random strange fact: Dave Coulier (Full House) is commonly accepted as the likely subject of the Alanis Morissette song “You Oughta Know.”
— Ben Howe (@BenHowe) December 3, 2012
So I Googled it, and it’s true: When Morissette was a young singer in Hollywood, she dated Coulier, who is 15 years her senior and who was then starring as goofy “Uncle Joey” Gladstone on the family sitcom, Full House. And, yes, it seems her infamously angry song was about him:
When he first heard the song, “I said, ‘Wow, this girl is angry,’ “ he recalled. “And then I said, ‘Oh man, I think it’s Alanis.’ … I listened to the song over and over again, and I said, ‘I think I have really hurt this person.’ “
Let me remind you of a few choice lyrics from “You Oughta Know”:
An older version of me.
Is she perverted like me?
Would she go down on you in a theater? . . .
It was a slap in the face,
How quickly I was replaced.
Are you thinking of me when you f–k her? . . .
And every time I scratch my nails
Down someone else’s back, I hope you feel it.
Ouch. And she wrote that about the loveable clown from the wholesome TV comedy who did those silly Bullwinkle voices. Creepy.
Like finding out Carly Simon wrote “You’re So Vain” about Hugh Beaumont or Fred McMurray. @jamesrileyjr @bigjebbos @benhowe

This Week in Evil
Posted on | December 2, 2012 | 16 Comments
Most people underestimate the human capacity for evil, but it’s everywhere and claims new victims daily. A few examples from the past week:
- A 49-year-old man in Newburgh, N.Y., was charged Thursday with rape, unlawful imprisonment and criminal possession of marijuana after police say he attacked a 16-year-old girl who had gone to his apartment to buy drugs.
- A 48-year-old man in Volusia County, Fla., was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison, after he was convicted of two counts of sexual battery. Police say he lured a 13-year-old girl to a motel where he videotaped her having sex with him. He is awaiting trial on separate charges involving the victim’s stepsister.
- In Newark, Ohio, 31-year-old David Hill was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to “raping a young girl ‘too many times to count’ over several years.” Hill’s crimes began in March 2009 and continued until 2011, after the girl turned 13.
- In Texas, 20-year-old Jared Cruse was sentenced Wednesday to life without parole for his part in the gang rape of an 11-year-old girl. Police in Jefferson County say 20 men participated in the crime, which they recorded on video.
- A 47-year-old registered sex offender in Albuquerque, N.M., was charged Saturday with raping an 11-year-old girl whose family had been visiting his home after the girl’s birthday party.
- In Prince William County, Va., Aaron Thomas, 41, pleaded guilty Friday to abducting three teenage girls and raping two of them. Thomas is believed to be the “East Coast Rapist,” and police say he is a suspect in 17 different rapes.
- In Bentonville, Ark., 28-year-old Zachary Holly was charged Nov. 26 with the rape and murder of 6-year-old Jersey Bridgeman. The girl disappeared from her home Nov. 20. Authorities say evidence shows the girl was suffocated and sexually assaulted.
That’s just one week. Evil keeps busy all year long.
