Ryan Zinke Speaks For, Oh, At Least A Few Million Americans

Posted on | August 27, 2012 | 30 Comments

by Smitty

At Breitbart, emphasis mine:

When asked whether it was inappropriate for former SEALs to speak out, as some on the left have alleged, Zinke answered, “If the veterans can’t speak out, who can?

I think it’s a duty of every veteran and every citizen to be actively involved in our political process,

especially when the president sets out to negotiate away our rights under the Constitution. There have been other veterans — TR, Eisenhower, JFK — they’ve been active in speaking out and shaping the policy and politics of our country. I’m going to stand for what I believe in, and I’m encouraging every veteran and every citizen to do the same. Our country is at a crossroads, and this election is certainly the most important in my lifetime.”

On a related note emphasis again mine:

Michael Ubaldi writes: “I saw [2016: Obama’s America] with a friend this afternoon. The theater was easily three-quarters full. We were among a handful without gray hair, but for me, the D’Souza film matters in the same way the Chick-fil-A support day did: unanticipated conservative turnout.”

Americans, unexpectedly, are failing to live down to the Left’s model of a mindless lump of meat. I, for one, blog to echo Zinke’s sentiment. I’ve been blessed by God far above anything I merit, and fighting back against the spirit of the Commie tyranny embodied in the modern Democrat party. This blog comes to you out of my strong sense of duty to the Constitution, in its pre-Progressive ante-Postmodern liberty-centric form.

The Commies are going down. Patton:

You know, by God I, I actually pity those poor bastards we’re going up against, by God, I do.

Health Care Expert: ObamaCare Will Kill Estimated 40,000 Seniors Every Year

TAMPA, Florida
Betsy McCaughey is the former lieutenant governor of New York. She has a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Her Web site is DefendYourHealthCare.com and she is the author of The Obama Health Law: What It Says and How to Overturn It.

Today at Newt Gingrich’s “Newt University” conference, Dr. McCaughey explained that the “skimpy care” that Obama’s health law would impose on Medicare hospital patients “is likely to cause an estimated 40,000 unnecessary deaths each year.” As she explained in a brief video interview with me today, this is not a political charge, but is based on evidence from extensive medical research. Here’s the video — let’s make it viral:y

Journalism as Masochism

Posted on | August 27, 2012 | 30 Comments

TAMPA, Florida
You don’t want to hear about my wasted morning — the attempt to drive downtown to the Sheraton to pick up my media credentials, the godawful gridlock caused by the lunatic security, being turned around at the barricaded intersection, forced to drive back to Ybor City, pay to park the car, call a cab to take me downtown again, then discovering that my credentials were in the possession of Jim Antle who, contrary to our previous discussion about the topic, was not downtown to meet me.

Getting a cab out of the security perimeter was obviously impossible.

You don’t want to hear about my mile-long walk back to Ybor City, in a muggy sweat-soaked heat, to retrieve the car, then drive here to this McDonald’s, logging on to get directions to where Jim Antle is staying, and discovering that it’s 10 miles south of here.

Exactly why the Republican National Convention set things up this way, with one person from each news organization designated to pick up that organization’s credentials — rather than the more obvious way of having each reporter pick up his own — defies my ability to imagine or describe.

Exactly why The American Spectator‘s designated credential obtainer, Jim Antle, having made it inside the high-security perimeter around downtown Tampa would have then left to return to his lodgings 10 miles south of downtown — this, too, defies my ability to imagine or describe.

This is probably no one’s fault in particular. There are times when it seems as if the universe is organized as a sadistic conspiracy to inflict psychological punishment on me, to make my life an endless series of hassles and humiliations, to render excruciatingly difficult my attempts to earn a living as a journalist.

Life within this sadistic universe — really, could so many things go so completely wrong by coincidence? — might be pleasant for masochists, who enjoy suffering. But I lack that perverse appetite for punishment, and so am compelled to complain about the routine abuse that I seem unable to avoid, no matter how much I try.

‘Exponential Damage’

Posted on | August 27, 2012 | 12 Comments

“You’ve got an obligation to your children and grandchildren to make sure Barack Obama goes back to Chicago … because we can’t stand four more years of this. Eight years of Obama is not twice as bad as four. There is an exponential damage that is done to our country if he gets four more years.”

Cecilia Jimenez Unleashes BHO Metaphor

Posted on | August 26, 2012 | 7 Comments

by Smitty

Via Althouse, picture worth a thousand words about a topic that has exactly zilch-point-jack worth of originality to offer:

Cecilia, of course, was the little old lady who did a special makeover of Jesus. Say what you will of Jimenez’s work. Having been to the Basilica of the Annunciation, which has a full spectrum of Madonnas holding the Christ from around the world, I’ll cop to a shockingly liberal view of such efforts.

Now that “trashing” famous works in this fashion is a meme, one is reminded of #OccupyResoluteDesk. Obama’s chief trick is to take something recognizable, e.g. the Mona Lisa, turn it into crap, and sell it as Hope & Change. He’s been a smashing success smashing the pillars of Western Civilization.

Barack’s triumph of style over substance should not have been so hard to detect. Hence the fact that John McCain called Obama ‘eloquent but empty‘. And the re-election campaign has been a study in intellectual vacuum, a happy face on a George Washington portrait.

Romney wins the election by subtly forcing Barack to reveal that he is the political equivalent of Oakland, CA.

Update: Soopermexican comes at the point from a slightly different vantage. Lacking the raw sack of Neil Armstrong, Obama instinctively attempts to co-opt him. But the the attempt to attach BHO to N.A. is N/A. This is just a variation on the theme of Seal Team 6; find courage, insert self.

Rule 5 Sunday: Only God Knows Why

Posted on | August 26, 2012 | 8 Comments

— compiled by Wombat-socho

Standard disclaimer: some of the following links are to photographs liable to cause unfavorable reactions from wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, fellow workers, bosses, Gender Studies majors, and other people in a position to make your life miserable or otherwise pollute your purity of essence. Discretion is advised.

We welcome Senator Blutarsky  to Rule 5 Sunday; his inaugural post concerns how even Communist airlines have surpassed ours in comfort. Laughing Conservative checks in next with Tulisa Contostavlos, and A Fool’s Game has clearly developed a heroine addiction; see also here and here. The Rio Norte Line brings the vintage goodness with Liz Hurley, Randy’s Roundtable breaks with Rachel Stevens and Jennifer Ellison, and IMNSHO seems to be adopting the practice of Corset Fridays. Reaganite Republican is staying tuned to Fox News Channel’s Jenna Lee, and First Street Journal has their own take on Rule 5 in “A Weapon And A Smile“. Fishersville Mike is ready for the new TV season.

The Camp of the Saints checked in late last week, so we held Tamara Ecclestone and Mary Elizabeth Winstead over for this week. Three Beers Later goes country this week with Hillbilly Girl, Cotton-Eyed Joe, and Fine Looking Country Girl. Also, Les Miz. Proof Positive brings Alexis Bellino, vintage babe Morgan Fairchild, another reminder that football season looms, and Marisa Miller in the Sex In Advertising segment. Dustbury offers Sheree Murphy and Sela Ward this week.

A View From The Beach has Heather Graham, cupcakes as contraceptives, “Under The Bridge”, “Debt Bomb”, They Call Him Flipper, “Land Down Under” (starring Miranda Kerr), Sixty Years Of The Uneven Bars, Chicago Prepares For Zombie Outbreak, and “Bring Me Little Water Sylvie”. Zombies but no cave girls? The Wombat is not pleased.

El Opinador Compulsivo returns from the cutting edge of science to bring us a nanoprint of Lena Soderberg, along with some larger, more enjoyable pix. Also, Gemma Massey, Olivia Munn, a B&W gallery [Old school! :)], four reasons not to drive an ultra-compact car, and the new Carl’s Jr. BBQ ad starring Sara Jean Underwood and Emily Ratajkowski. Deme dos, indeed! Also, strategic body paint and some non-Rule 5 shots from the recent Dream Theater concert in Buenos Aires.

American Power leads off with Britney Spears and follows that up  with Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, Ashleigh Hughes, the aforementioned Memphis BBQ Burger ad, and Salma Hayek.

Soylent Green begins the week with this important health tip: don’t forget to floss. Monday Motivationer Rachelle follows, along with Tuesday Titillation, Humpday caliente Andrea, a link that’s actually SFW, nostalgia for Westerns, The Call of Corsetcare, a Twilight Tumblr, and something to commemorate post #2300.

The Daley Gator’s Daleybabes this week include Erina Mano, Salma Hayek, Ayaka Tomada, Leila Lopes, Naoho Ichihashi, Thais Concepcion, Kanon Hokawa, and Sivan Krispin with some hot links!

Thanks to everyone for their linkagery! Links for next week’s Rule 5 roundup are due to the Rule 5 Wombat mailbox by Saturday, September 1.
