‘Blood Visibly Drips on the Floor as the Defendant Walks Away From the Victim’

The many mug shots of Decarlos Brown
The headline quotes from the affidavit for the arrest last month of Decarlos Dejuan Brown Jr. in Charlotte, North Carolina:
Detectives obtained video from inside of the train car. The video is clear and of ID quality. The victim enters the train car and sits in the seats directly in front of the defendant. The train travels for approximately four and a half minutes before the suspect pulls a knife from his pocket, unfolds the knife, pauses, then stands up, and strikes the victim three times. Blood visibly drips on the floor as the defendant walks away from the victim. The victim goes unresponsive shortly after the attack. The defendant is the assailant on the video. There appears to be no interaction between the victim and the defendant.
?? NC LIGHT RAIL STABBING VIDEO: Woman Killed in Unprovoked Attack
Footage shows Aug 22 murder of Iryna Zarutska, 23, on Charlotte’s Lynx Blue Line. Attacker Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, unfolded knife mins after she boarded. Strangers; she in work uniform. He fled; she died on… pic.twitter.com/brfqqj2Cev
— Svilen Georgiev (@siscostwo) September 6, 2025
The victim, 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, was wearing her work uniform from Zepeddie’s Pizzeria, and likely boarded the Lynx train at the Scaleybark station. The arrest was made at the East/West Boulevard station, which is three stops north on the Blue Line.
“There appears to be no interaction between the victim and the defendant” — this deadly crime was entirely unprovoked. Brown just casually unfolds his knife, gets up and plunges the knife into the neck of an innocent woman who never even said a word to him.
The Daily Mail had Brown’s criminal history:
A man accused of killing a Ukrainian woman who moved to the US to flee the war in her home country has a lengthy criminal history that includes a previous assault on his sister, according to police records. . . .
Zarutska had only recently arrived in the US ‘seeking safety from the war and hoping for a new beginning’, her family said on a GoFundMe page.
Brown, meanwhile, is a career criminal who has spent most of his life in and out of prison, a Daily Mail review of police records found.
He was charged with misusing 911 as recently as January, when he told cops he believed someone had given him a ‘man-made’ material that controlled his actions.
He was released on no bail and was pending trial when he allegedly stabbed Zaruska to death [August 22].
Brown served five years in prison for a 2014 armed robbery and was released in September, 2020 — when he quickly resumed a life of crime.
Just months after his release from prison, on February, 2021, Brown was arrested for assaulting his sister in Charlotte and leaving her with minor injuries, according to police records obtained by the Daily Mail.
That same month, he was also arrested for injury to personal property and trespassing.
A police report from that incident said Brown ‘returned to the address after being told he was not allowed back and kicked and damaged the front door of the listed victim’s residence.’
In July 2022, Brown was then arrested again for a domestic disturbance.
‘[Brown] was arrested for disorderly conduct. The suspect was yelling and cursing, causing a disturbance and drawing the attention of multiple tenants while on the property the call for service was located,’ read the police report.
Brown’s arrest records go as [far] back as 2007, when he was still a minor.
Over the next seven years, he was arrested at least six times for crimes including felony larceny, robbery with a dangerous weapon and communicating threats.
This is by no means an uncommon pattern. We see this pattern routinely. Murder is seldom the first crime on a career criminal’s rap sheet. They get arrested and turned loose, over and over, until finally they kill somebody, and only then do people ask, “Why was he out on the streets?”
Decarlos Brown was reportedly schizophrenic. Joe Bruno of WSOC-TV says his own mother wanted him locked up:
When Brown was released from prison, Brown’s mom says “he started saying weird things.”
She says she got Brown evaluated but his behavior became aggressive so she got an involuntary commitment order from the courts. He was placed under psychiatric monitoring for two weeks and diagnosed with schizophrenia. But after he was released she says Brown became so aggressive she had to kick him out. He became homeless.
In January, Brown was arrested for misusing the 911 system. Police say he called from the hospital and claimed someone gave him “man made material” that controlled when he “ate, walked and talked.” Despite his criminal past and homelessness, Magistrate Teresa Stokes allowed him to be released from jail on a written promise to appear. In court [in July] on this charge, his public defender questioned Brown’s mental capacity. Judge Roy Wiggins ordered a forensic evaluation.
Brown’s mom says the court should have never let her son be out in the community knowing he had mental health issues and previous arrests.
CMPD’s community policing team was well acquainted with Brown. They encountered him three times in 2024 and referred him to resources each time. CMPD has still not answered my questions asking what these resources are, if he accepted any of them, if police have any recourse if they keep encountering someone who refuses help and why Brown wasn’t arrested if he was accused of criminal activity.
How can this happen? A guy with an armed robbery conviction on his rap sheet, so dangerous that his own mother kicked him out of her house, so crazy that he calls 911 to report his delusions, gets turned loose without paying a cent of bail. His own public defender tells the judge that his client lacks the “mental capacity” to participate in court proceedings, the judge orders an “evaluation” — yet this violent psycho is nevertheless permitted to continue wandering the streets until one Friday night when the voices in his head tell him to stab a complete stranger in the neck for no apparent reason. Did I mention that in November 2024, Kamala Harris got 65% of the vote in Mecklenburg County? Because that’s the only possible explanation that comes to mind.
Democrats are objectively pro-crime. It is the de facto policy of the Democratic Party that mentally ill criminals should be turned loose on the streets until they stab somebody in the neck. Democrats are the psycho killer party, and the people who vote for Democrats don’t care how many people get killed as a result of their policy.
Like I keep telling y’all, Crazy People Are Dangerous.

I may not have done a book post in quite a while, but as longtime readers can attest (and this website as well) this book by C.M. Nascosta is not anywhere near my normal tastes in books. However, being the public benefactor I am, I felt obligated to give this book a read and report on it. Now that I have done so, I must ask for your prayers and contributions to the tip jar, because brain bleach isn’t cheap.
Having said this, I must congratulate Ms. Nascosta. This is a well-written book, succeeding not merely as a sexual fantasy but as the sort of multi-species Hallmark movie script one might expect from a particularly raunchy D&D Fifth Edition session. Indeed, if you deleted the sex scenes, this wouldn’t look out of place on the Hallmark Channel. On the other hand, if you deleted the sex scenes, there would be no point to the thing, because the whole novel is about the mousy, fairly average looking heroine’s increasing sexual obsession with the strapping young minotaur who’s enjoying his regular visits to the glory holepharmaceutical company much more than he used to. The author is to be congratulated for not making the protagonist a Mary Sue but rather, a more sympathetic girl who’s trapped in a situation many of her readers are probably all too familiar with: a college graduate with degrees worthless in the job market, trying desperately to find some work – any work – that will keep her from having to move home into Mom’s basement. The bottom line? It’s a good, well-written fantasy on a couple of levels, and apparently the sort of thing horny women are reading these days. So in conclusion, I can do no better than to quote Honest Abe Lincoln: “If this is the sort of thing you like, then you will probably like it.”

A Return to Frontier Justice?
Posted on | September 3, 2025 | Comments Off on A Return to Frontier Justice?

“Ultimately, police exist not to protect the public from criminals, but to protect criminals from the public,” Professor Glenn Reynolds has said. As in so many cases, however, the advancements of civilization are generally taken for granted by the destructive agents of “progressivism.”
Most Americans have little appreciation for such rights as trial by jury, enshrined in our Bill of Rights more than two centuries ago, which still remain unknown in much of the world. Our justice system rests upon a foundation that took centuries for our distant ancestors to construct, but how many people have taken time to read Winston Churchill’s A History of the English-Speaking Peoples, which recounts this development?
Furthermore, however, the origins of modern police are so little known that, during the 2020 peak of “Black Lives Matter” mania, it was widely claimed (and apparently, believed by many) that our police forces originated as patrols to apprehend slaves — a hateful myth so far from the truth that it cannot be considered a mere error, but is rather a deliberate libel. The world’s first police force was established in England in 1829 under the guidance of Sir Robert Peel. In the U.S., “The first organized, publicly funded professional full-time police services were established in Boston in 1838, New York in 1844, and Philadelphia in 1854.” However, outside of large cities — which were the only places with sufficient tax revenue to support a full-time police force — law enforcement remained in the hands of the county sheriff, a title which itself derives from origins in England (the “reeve” of the “shire”).
On the American frontier, the agencies of law enforcement were so limited that the pioneers mainly had to rely on themselves to defend their lives and property, which is why the horse thief could expect no more “justice” than could be obtained with a long rope and a tall tree. The concept of “frontier justice” was behind the once-famous advice that Andrew Jackson got from his mother, which has been variously quoted, either: “Andy, never tell a lie, nor take what is not your own, nor sue for slander, settle those cases yourself.” Or: “Never bring a suit in law for assault and battery or for defamation. The law affords no remedy for such outrages that can satisfy the feelings of a true man.” In other words, there are times when you just have to whup somebody’s ass.
All of this is preamble to an online video, reportedly recorded in Australia, of a young fellow who decided to whup somebody’s ass. The algorithm won’t allow that video to be embedded, but what it shows is a Muslim youth who allegedly was seeking to have sex with an underage girl, but when he showed up at a park to meet her, was confronted by someone who, I suppose, was the girl’s older brother. A solid beatdown was delivered, probably sufficient to deter repeat offenses.
A reminder that the police exist primarily to protect criminals from vigilante justice. Lax law enforcement (and two-tier justice) will have consequences that liberals won’t like. https://t.co/3LhLmfKqOv
— The Patriarch Tree (@PatriarchTree) September 2, 2025
We have seen widespread unrest in the United Kingdom lately because the law enforcement establishment there has failed to protect young girls from such menaces, and if something isn’t done to correct this failure, I suspect we’ll see more such vigilante measures. You have been warned.
