Fear and Loathing, Et Cetera

Yes, I’m here in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada, home base for my coverage of the kickoff of the Tea Party Express III tour, among other things.

Fortuitously, I arrived on the birthday of Minority Report blogger Steve Foley, and his birthday was celebrated in appropriate fashion. IYKWIMAITYD. Even more fortuitously, when JSF of Valley of the Shadow blog heard I was coming to Vegas, he offered me this excellent advice: “Put it all on red.”

Dude. You’ve got no idea how well that advice paid off. But as for those other losers . . .

UPDATE 11:10 a.m. ET: My biological clock is screwed up. I’d left a wake-up call for 9 a.m. – i.e., noon ET — and snapped wide awake to see 7:43 on the clock. But was that a.m. or p.m.? All things considered, it was entirely possible that I’d slept 16 hours and missed an entire day’s work. But no, I’d slept only four hours and the question now was, should I get up and start working or go back to bed for another hour? But if I went back to sleep, I might oversleep for real this time. While I debated this, I checked the headlines at Memeorandum:

Obama Refuses to Dine With Jewish Leader

Binyamin Netanyahu humiliated after Barack Obama ‘dumped him for dinner’

Obama demands Netanyahu’s peace answers by Saturday

OK, I’m awake now. Armaggedon looms. Four hours sleep will have to do.

UPDATE 2:08 p.m. ET: Just so the tip-jar hitters know this trip isn’t all fun and games, I’m about to go do some actual shoe-leather reporting today.

Talking about fear and loathing, Chucky Johnson is back going after Stephen Green, who everyone knows is a right wing extremist:

After my last encounter with Stephen Green, in which he put his reputation on the line to defend white supremacist blogger Robert Stacy McCain, it’s not surprising to see Green being called out by TPM for advocating bringing back tarring and feathering. And possibly more.

In the post, titled “Put the Fear of Something Into Them,” Pajamas’ Denver Editor Stephen Green riffed on the recent threats and attacks on Democrats and concluded:

“If this abominable, unconstitutional, usurperous, injurious, unsustainable and ruinous new health care law has a mere ten legislatures afraid for their safety, then this country might already be too far gone to save itself.”

Then, in a comments section exchange with a reader, Green, who calls himself “Vodkapundit,” took it further.

“This country has a fine tradition of tarring & feathering, and one I’ve come to the reluctant conclusion needs to come back,” he wrote in response to a reader named Geekesque. “If the US Government considers that terrorism, consider the source.”

Asked by another reader how far Green’s “condoning of violence against us ‘Nazi’ liberals” goes, Green responded:

“That depends entirely on how much violence is done to our liberties by your idiotic policies. Right now, tar & feathers still seem extreme. Tomorrow? It’s in your hands.”

It’s really a shame to see Pajamas Media publishing this kind of extremist nonsense — not to mention the climate change denial, creationism, and every other far right crazy talking point you’ll find at the 2010 version of PJM. It’s become World Net Daily Lite.

I suppose it is a small consolation to Jeff Goldstein to be proven right. But that is Charles Johnson’s whole M.O., keep calling Ace, Hot Air and PJM “racists” to keep them in line and marginalize them until the MSM starts parroting his BS. Anyone who attacks his nonesense (Pam Geller, Spencer, you) are deemed dangerous radicals. Chucky is not all that significant anymore, other than being a lesser blogger equivalent of David Frum, useful to the MSM to show some dissent in the “conservative” ranks. Chucky was never a “conservative” and from apparently injesting too many lead paint chips has gone completely insane.

Meanwhile Ed “Fatty” Shultz is mad that every conservative pundits kicks his butt on the air, in all media, so he wants the Un-Fairness Doctrine back.

And it would be good if Ace, Hot Air , PJM, and the rest of the conservative blogosphere finally figured that out and started really fighting back against this BS and calling those who spew it.

Joe I was following that thread and added a couple of comments. Stephen was great and adept at avoiding several traps that at least two DNC (or whatever) trolls attempted. At least one of them tried to goad Stephen into making specific threats against them.

Be careful with that flask of ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge.

Tar and feathering was acutally a pretty horrific act. As was demonstrated in HBO’s John Adams, but note that John Adams is absolutely against any such mob acts. That is part of the reason why the later constitution imposed rule of law and why a bill of rights was adopted. To prevent exactly that.

In no way shape or form was Stephen Green actually proposing anyone be actually be tarred and feathered. And these stooges of the left know that.

Maybe maybe not but whether they do or not they don’t care. Apparently they’ve already given up on selling HC and plan B is again, attempt to scare JQ into believing the right is the American Taliban. There is nothing the Social Democrats will not stoop to.

    1) Joe: In no way shape or form was Stephen Green actually proposing anyone be actually be tarred and feathered. And these stooges of the left know that.

Rule #3B of Bob Belvedere’s Rules of Life: Whatever the Left is accusing the Right of wanting to do is always what they themselves would do in the same situation.

    2) DaveC: Be careful with that flask of ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge.

Ah…so that explains Keith Olberwoman’s nightly behavior.

    3) RSM: Yeah, and just wait until Ann Coulter gets here with the drugs and the red convertible. She doesn’t look Samoan, but . . .

Thank shoulda been me! Damn condo tenets.
