Waiting to Exhale in Chicago

Posted on | September 23, 2010 | 26 Comments

Our recent encounter with a certain bikini-clad blonde was good for blog traffic — thank you, Professor Reynolds — and elicited some mirthful commentary about D.C. cocktail hostess Giovana Huidobro‘s services to Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-Corruption). But Chicago Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell isn’t laughing:

What’s going on with U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is the kind of thing that gives a black woman a migraine. . . .
Despite the embarrassing headlines, until now Jackson’s Republican challenger, Isaac Hayes, might as well have been a ghost candidate . . .

(Ooh. Did you catch that? Isaac Hayes might be the kind of Change that Mary Mitchell could believe in.)

[W]hat I find preposterous is Jackson’s characterization of the blond and comely Giovana Huidobro as a “social acquaintance.”
Really? Is that what they call women who hook up with another woman’s husband these days? . . .
While Jackson is hiding behind a privacy veil, his mess has put black women, particularly, in an awkward position.
Once again, a high-profile, married black professional has been caught dallying with a white woman he plucked from the ranks of restaurant hostesses.
But God forbid if a black woman points out Jackson’s choice of Huidobro mimics Tiger Woods’ preference for women of the same ilk — she’d be the racist. . . .

(Note that Mitchell anticipates the accusation that she, a black woman, is “racist” for resenting Jackson’s evident preference in extramarital action.)

In Jackson’s case, his relationship with Huidobro is even more curious.
After all, he has campaigned as a pro-black politician, and cut his teeth in the company of some of the country’s greatest civil rights leaders.
He, better than most, knows the self-esteem issues that black women have had to deal with when it comes to black men dating white women. . . .

Ah, here is the nub of it, you see? Jackson was ostentatiously “pro-black,” and it was on that identity-politics basis that he enjoyed the support of Mary Mitchell and many others. Now, however, Jackson has not only disgraced himself in the sordid Blagojevich scandal, but his affair with Ms. Huidobro has undone the entire “pro-black” rationale of his career and damaged the self-esteem of many of his constituents.

This kind of Waiting to Exhale factor is a subject upon which even Mary Mitchell must tread lightly. The taboos of political correctness trump all other taboos in 21st-century America.

Yesterday, I interviewed Isaac Hayes for an upcoming American Spectator article. Hayes had no comment on the Blonde Factor in Jackson’s scandal, although I got the impression that many voters in the 2nd District have not hesistated to comment about it. Certainly, it has created new interest in Hayes’ candidacy, and lots of Chicago-area media are now seeking interviews with the Republican challenger.

Hayes is a minister in the Apostolic Church of God, which is Pentacostal

You know, like the Wasilla Assembly of God.

Just sayin’ . . .

Mary Mitchell does not think that shoving black females onto the Democrat Slave Plantation making them unholy dependent upon Government-Sugar-Daddy’s ‘leftover scraps from the table’ while killing off fatherhood has anything to do with black females lacking self-esteem?

The Democrat Party has diseased the female, castrated the male yet somehow their constituencies believe themselves above it all.

Democrat Slave Plantation’s “building self-esteem” is about as genuine as Hollywood’s papered-mached Greek columns they built to impress their Emperor.

I HATE the Democrat Slave Plantation!

    @Adobe Walls

Yeah, Dan Riehl has an “ilk.” Giovana Huidobro has an “ilk.” The rest of us are ilk-deprived.

    I didn’t know I was “ilk-y.” Huh. The things I learn on this site…

If we are supposed to be a color-blind society, why is it an issue that wealthy black men tend to seek out lightly pigmented paramours? During the Tiger Woods debacle among others I didn’t see those of Mary Mitchel’s ilk decrying the misbehavior. No being race obsessed they decried the fact that he wasn’t cheating on his wife with another black woman.

Mary Mitchell is one of the most racist columnists Chicago’s ever seen, incapable of seeing the world in any context except a racial one. She lectures white people to accept black hypocrisy, defends gangs from police. Now, while the rest of us are thinking of Jesse Jackson Jr.’s corruption, dishonesty and infidelity, Mitchell can only seethe over a white woman stealing a black man.

This country will never grow up about race with people like Mitchell racifying everything.

Hat tip to Adam Baldwin for the word “racifying.”

Well, I can tell you, there are many in the black community that feel the same way as she does.

You go into knowing that you will hear things from time to time, but you are never quite prepared for some of the hate you hear. The vast majority of that hate comes from the black community, not the white. I expected the opposite.

This is how it was explained to me; there are many black men who have issues with things such as drugs and gangs and the like. When a man who doesn’t have these issues ends up with a white woman, it one less good man for them to choose from. Which I sort of understand.

So Junior is a whore-monger just like Daddy? Color me shocked! Where is the outrage about the $6 million bribe he was offering Blago for Obama’s old Senate seat? I’m offended by his immorality, too, but this woman can’t see the bigger issue?

The man was trying to corrupt the political process. He should die in prison, an outcast to decent Americans of all ethnicities. We need an investigation as to why the plug was pulled on this case prematurely, when it would have been child’s play to get Junior to follow through with his efforts, and to convict both him and Blago without any ambiguity. It’s like ABSCAM in the ’70s – someone didn’t want to find out where it was going to end up.

On a more personal note, I am appalled at the rising tide of ilkism and how it is freely tolerated by the elites in government and media in this country. A basic component of liberty is the freedom be of whatever ilk one chooses.

    Got ilk?

    >What is this, Juggs, “Home of the D-Cuppers”? Are we only permitted to praise the Christina Hendricks types? Can we not allow any latitude for variations in personal preference? Stop being so judgmental and intolerant, Mike. If Jesse Jackson Jr. prefers his blonde mistresses with A-cups, that’s his inalienable right!

“Home of the A-Cuppers”, JJJ has good taste of sassy chic, he is a leg-man not a breast-man.

“Chicago home of the champion”, RSM never let a good groin crisis go to waste, he is a whole-package-man.

Ace and Dan had a different angle take on this (emphasis is his). A-man? B-man?
