A Scandal Too Far: Steve Capus Terminated as NBC News President

Posted on | February 2, 2013 | 11 Comments

The New York Times spins it this way:

The longest-serving president of any of the three network news divisions, Steve Capus of NBC News, stepped down from his position on Friday, six months after Comcast restructured its news units in a way that diminished his authority.

Exactly how voluntary was this “stepping down”? John Nolte points to the scandal-plagued tenure of Capus at NBC News:

  1. During last year’s presidential election, Andrea Mitchell was caught manufacturing a Romney gaffe where none existed.
  2. During last year’s GOP primary, Ed Schultz edited video of Texas Governor Rick Perry to make him look racist.
  3. In April of last year, the “Today Show” was caught editing audio of a 9-1-1 call to make George Zimmerman look racist.
  4. In August of 2009, Contessa Brewer sliced and diced a photograph so it wouldn’t look like a black man attended a Tea Party carrying a firearm.
  5. Just this week, NBC News maliciously edited video of a town council meeting to make it look as though Second Amendment civil rights activists heckled a parent who lost his son in Newtown.

The network should place an ad on Craigslist: “NBC News is now hiring a Democrat News Executive. Ethics and objectivity optional.”

Wanted: DNC press operative. Photoshop, video and audio editing skill a must. White males only.

Steve Capus should now go to work for the State Department (aka, the Department of Musical Chairs), where he could screw up mightily via incompetent contribution (or inappropriate inaction) leading to the death of four Americans, and be forced to step down following what would be laughingly be billed as an “accountability review board” . . . only to be quietly reassigned to another position within the Department at the same salary and level of influence.

Waste of words. Democrat was already in the description.

That wasn’t a town council meeting, that was a working group meeting at the state capitol with over 2,000 citizens in attendance.

RSM, this is a very good and succinct recap of some of the major incidents over at NBC/MSNBC news culminating in the exposure of a considerable slice of their hit squad over there.

But since none of the cited public “perps” were sanctioned for their far more direct roles in these incidents, nor apparently were the internal “producers” who, for example, actually cooked up the faux videos and audios, for what reason should we conclude that Capus was let go?

Was it his ham-fisted failure to properly propagandize without consistently embarrassing the upper level rainbow cabal?

Or, was it because they recognized he had lost the support of the obviously corrupted production and broadcast teams who were actually putting these fake stories together and airing them?

I see nothing to indicate Capus is out because of the blatant propagandizing and outright false reporting. He was the target, all right, but the motives aren’t clear. It is part of a move to cut costs, for one thing.

What puzzles me is that he was given a new contract just before the restructuring began. Unless there has been a major reshuffling higher up, they have to already had diminishing his power in their plans.

None of these supposedly vast “news” organizations have nearly so many reporters on the ground as they once did, especially the foreign bureaus have been gutted. The integrity of the product has long since ceased to be a factor in deliberations on news divisions, the suits are only interested in the bottom line.

NBC News has lost its’ journalism compass with its’ blatant bias slanted to the left. The sucking up to Obama, blatant editing gaffes leaves this Peacock featherless.
