Barbara Espinosa at American Freedom blog sends along these photos from the protest in Phoenix:
“We are here as indigenous peoples of this continent . . . to confront the Racist squatters on our continent who dare to call us foreigners. . . . 500 years of European crimes of trespassing, theft, murder, false borders, and Genocide do not make OUR CONTINENT a European continent!”
Smitty earlier linked to the many photos by Donald Douglas at American Power conveying similar sentiments.
What you are seeing here is an attempt to delegitimize the United States in the same way Palestinian nationalists have attempted to delegitimize Israel. Like the “Zionism is racism” argument that Palestinians use to justify their terrorism against Jews in israel, the advocates of a Mexican reconsquista proclaim that the mere desire of Americans to control their borders — to have an orderly system of immigration — is “racist.”
Furthermore, playing upon the mestizo ancestry of most of the migrants. these activists portray themselves as victims of colonial oppression — “trespassing, theft, murder,” et cetera. Being “indigenous,” they insist they have a right to reside anywhere on the continent, since “false borders” are a European imposition.
What these activists are attempting to do is to propogate a racist/nationalist myth — a sort of fascism. What else to say about their claim that, because most Mexicans have some native ancestry, that this gives them to a right to reside hundreds of miles north of the homelands of their own peoples? It’s as if the Mayan Empire had belatedly laid claim to Arizona.
The argument of La Raza strives dehumanize whites by depicting whites as genocidal racist monsters. Not to put too fine a point on it, this is a direct attack on Western civilization and an invitation to lawless savagery. If U.S. borders and immigration laws are illegitimate, then how can any other U.S. law be legitimate? If “Europeans” are automatically guilty of “trespassing, theft, murder,” then how can these “squatters” complain if they are in similarly victimized by the “indigenous peoples”?
This myth-making mythology is dangerous, and it is time that Americans wake up to the danger.

Do they even know what Hispanic means? Ha, morons make me laugh.

“Who dare call us foreigners” Is “foreigner” too big a word for those folk to comprehend?
One moron said that the border is just “an imaginary line drawn in the sand”.
Tell that to the folk defending Mexico’s southernmost imaginary line!
When you ask if the imaginary line extends to Canada or the East Coast, they mutter and mumble and call you more names.

They are identifying with their Olmec heritage. So they ignore that they happen to be some percentage Spanish.
Kind of like this.

This race stuff is a bunch of nonsense. Americans did take over parts of Mexico. And the only mistake we made was not taking Baja and the more of Northern Mexico. It is not a racial thing–La Raza not withstanding–it is a cultural thing. Mexico is fucked up. The Olmecs were mad men. The Spanish took advantage of the tyrany and took over. And the combination is a mess. And the fact is, we are a higher culture.
Not withstanding that nachos are pretty good.

I stole the “higher cultural” line from the film Spike of Bensonhurst.

Their beef should be with Spain and Hernando Cortez for the fall of the Aztecs if anyone..
But don’t let history get in the way of a little marxist front group..

Whats amazing about this whole thing is 1)they don’t blame the Spanish for conquering them back in the 1500’s and 2)in the mid to late 1800’s northern Mexico was a demiliterized zone due to the presence of the Apaches who didn’t allow anyone, Mexican or American to reside close to the border basically without standing army.

This type of fascism is especially disgusting when the President of their own country admits to the hypocrisy. President Calderon interviewed by Wolf Blitzer:
BLITZER: So in other words, if somebody sneaks in from Nicaragua or some other country in Central America, through the southern border of Mexico, they wind up in Mexico, they can go get a job…
CALDERON: No, no.
BLITZER: They can work.
CALDERON: If — if somebody do that without permission, we send back — we send back them.
BLITZER: You find them and you send them back?
CALDERON: Yes. However, especially with the people of Guatemala, we are providing a new system in which any single citizen from Guatemala could be able to visit any single border (INAUDIBLE) in the south. And even with all the requirements, he can or she can visit any parts of Mexico.
BLITZER: I ask the questions because there’s an argument that people in Arizona and New Mexico and — and Texas, they say they’re only trying to do in their states what Mexico itself does in the southern part of Mexico.
CALDERON: I know. And that is a very powerful argument. But that is one of the reasons why we are trying to change our policy.
Full Interview
Yes. Another reason you’re supposedly changing your policy is so you don’t look like the total wankers that you accuse us of being. What a moron.
I agree with the other commenters regarding history. You don’t see these “reconquistadors” going after Spain because Spain isn’t a prosperous nation on the other side of their border. And if this country was theirs to begin with, why didn’t they do something about it?
No, instead it’s much easier to just invade our country by mass numbers and then get all pissy when we don’t bow down and worship them like Aztec gods. The Aztecs were a conquered people. Now they’re trying to rewrite history by trying to “conquer” the United States.
Guess what, racista imbécil, if you really wanted to make a difference in a country, you would have started with your own. Just because you allowed your country to become a flaming, corrupt, trash heap doesn’t mean you get to come over here and do the same. Arizona is only the beginning.

Stacy, you’re dead on with your points about the reconquista movement comparing themselves to the Palestinians. Not sure what your opinion is about WND, but Joseph Farah wrote a piece about it in 2001.
Here is La Raza’s take on seeing themselves as Palestinians.
Especially on this day, I say God bless America and all of the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. Now I need to scoot because I have a Memorial service to attend. God bless you. 🙂

[…] May Stacy McCain is on fire this morning, blogging about the lies put forth by open border radicals about “native lands”. He calls it the Reconquista […]
Going by their claims, since I’m endowed with some Cherokee blood, I should have the “indigenous” right to travel between the USA and Mexico anytime I want without having to deal with paperwork and border checkpoint searches. Somehow I don’t believe their idiotic logic works both ways.

How does this whole “my ancestors used to own this land” thing work? Can I go and get my great-great-grandfather’s house – now a historical landmark – back, because my ancestors used to own it?
For that matter, my ancestors used to control a good portion of the state of Virginia. Do I get to kick out some of the Carpetbaggers as invaders of my ancestral homeland?

If its their continent, sounds like they owe someone for upkeep, repairs, improvements and operational costs at least. Plus, when are they gonna start paying the damn’ bills for “their” continent? These things aren’t cheap to run. All that infrastructure, protection, modernization, etc – doing jobs they won’t do – is going to require some serious reperations, seems to me.

Mike F. has it correct; there are NO natives here in America. Well, no native humans anyways. Humans didn’t evolve on this continent, So, really, we’re all immigrants, all the way back to those “Native Americans.” Who, truth be told, had some rather aggressive ancestors. I mean, they did kill off all the true natives, those large land mammals called Mastodons (Mammut Americanum, to be exact).

The U.S. could have simply confiscated the land as the spoils of war. Instead, we paid for it [in gold coin]. The U.S. also assumed the debts incurred by Mexican confiscation of private property held by Americans.
In 1848 gold was $20/oz., so $15 million = $900 million today – for empty land that was in abundance in the new continent of North America. [In the early 1800’s France sold its holdings for a few cents an acre – the going rate at the time.] Further, the Treaty ending the war was negotiated and ratified by both countries:
Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
1848. Peace treaty between the United States and Mexico that ended the Mexican War. Negotiations were carried on for the United States by Nicholas P. Trist. The treaty was signed on Feb. 2, 1848, in the village of Guadalupe Hidalgo, just outside Mexico City. It confirmed U.S. claims to Texas and set its boundary at the Rio Grande. Mexico also agreed to cede to the United States California and New Mexico (which included present-day California, Nevada, and Utah, and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming) in exchange for $15 million and assumption by the United States of claims against Mexico by U.S. citizens. The treaty was ratified by the U.S. Senate on Mar. 10, 1848, and by the Mexican Congress on May 25.

OK folks, lets look at reality. The people who call themselves “Mexicans” are in reality of an Asian ancestry i.e. “Mongol”. There are three classifications of peoples on this earth. They are Caucasoid, Negroid and Mongoloid. Anthropology 101. Mongoloids, including Mexicans and various Indian tribes are from Asia and their DNA proves this fact, although it is politically incorrect information. Now, look closely at an Aztec or Mayan sculpture. I ask you in all honesty…does this resemble what is presently known as a “Mexican”. Maybe some HONEST research into what REALLY happened to the Mayans might reveal they were destroyed by these Asiatic hordes invading their land from Asia. Just a thought. Anyways, I doubt the findings would be allowed to be published and this kind of history would be pushed under the rug, just like the Kenewick Man discovery.
