‘She’s a Woman Who Just Wanted to Be a TV Star . . .’

Posted on | September 22, 2010 | 44 Comments

For some reason, this story struck me as pathetically sad:

“Food Network ‘chef’ Sandra Lee . . . talks a good game about wanting to help regular moms prepare quick meals so they have more time to spend with their kids, she is herself childless and regularly trots out her nieces and nephews on the show in order to bolster her Susie-homemaker-who-the-kids-just-love-golly-gee reputation. Now that she’s dating New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, she also brings Cuomo’s kids (their mother is his ex-wife Kerry Kennedy) on the program. . . .
“Lee spent years as a trophy wife to KB Home CEO Bruce Karatz and became a millionaire from her first business, Kurtain Kraft. While married to Karatz, Lee began shopping around an interior-decorating show to various networks, all of whom passed. She landed a deal with the Food Network by agreeing to add cooking to the show, but it’s clear to anyone who watches the program that Lee is much more interested in matching her dishes to her food than she is at actually cooking anything, ever. She’s a woman who just wanted to be a TV star, and if pretending to cook was going to be the thing that got her on television, then she was going to pretend to cook her heart out. . . .”

Read the whole thing.

Meh. This just continued evidence showing that the Food Network has their heads up their butts for putting this poser on.

Now Anthony Bourdain…he’s a chef and a hell of a writer. He is banned from the Food Network.

I just cracked up reading that Anthony Bourdain rant above. If we could turn Bourdain into a conservative commentator he would be a weapon of mass destruction.

SANDRA LEE: Pure evil. This frightening Hell Spawn of Kathie Lee and Betty Crocker seems on a mission to kill her fans, one meal at a time. She Must Be Stopped. Her death-dealing can-opening ways will cut a swath of destruction through the world if not contained. I would likely be arrested if I suggested on television that any children watching should promptly go to a wooded area with a gun and harm themselves. What’s the difference between that and Sandra suggesting we fill our mouths with Ritz Crackers, jam a can of Cheez Wiz in after and press hard? None that I can see. This is simply irresponsible programming. Its only possible use might be as a psychological warfare strategy against the resurgent Taliban–or dangerous insurgent groups. A large-racked blonde repeatedly urging Afghans and angry Iraqis to stuff themseles with fatty, processed American foods might be just the weapon we need to win the war on terror.

Sandra Lee dating Master-Home-Mortgage-Destroyer Andy Cuomo?

This earns Sandra Lee the title Queen of Home-Wreaking-Havoc.

Anyway; NYC is THE bedbug-infested capital of the world thanks to Mommy-Nanny Bloomberg supporting crap-master Harry Reid rather than cleaning out his own dirty, filthy City of Stupid Blue Serfs.

Cuomo and Lee will fit perfectly with Bloomberg’s diseased-infested Empire.

I guess I’m trying to figure out why she’s so bad. She found a marketing niche and she filled it. She is a self-made woman. Her mother WAS drug addled, to the point that Lee and her siblings had to live with her grandmother. After a few years of stability, her mom showed up again and took them back, disrupting their lives. Many times they did not have food on the table, they lived on welfare and food stamps, and as an 11 year old, Lee cooked, cleaned, and looked after the whole family.

But, yes, this “evil” woman basically raised her four younger siblings. On top of that, she has put all of them through college, that bitch. She is also very active in a charity to feed the poor in America. Proof positive that she does not value family!

What a spiteful, one-sided piece that is. Is she perfect? No. Is she Mario Batali? No, but she doesn’t pretend to be. I have no doubt that she was damaged by her childhood.

Interestingly enough, a lot of the great unwashed admire what this woman has accomplished. I’ve noticed that the foodie elites, and nasty characters like Bourdain are the ones who slam her all the time.

I don’t think she’s only dating Cuomo; She’s his live in chef. It was on here or another site that I read that Cuomo joked that since they weren’t married he couldn’t be accused of adultery if he strayed. What a moron!

I am not the world’s greatest cook and don’t really care if Lee can cook well or not, but even this comment from Hot Air struck me as funny:

Please show a clip of Cuomo’s girlfriend, Sandra Lee, using part of the filling from a perfectly good, storebought, whole pumpkin pie and part of the filling from a perfectly good, storebought, whole cheesecake to make a few fancy petit fours. Mind boggling.

I don’t know, it just seems so pretentious, inefficient and wasteful, a metaphor for politics…

Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential is one of the great humor books evah. And his rants against the FN are legend. There is a great clip I can no longer find of Bourdain drunk going off on the FN and then seeing Mario Batali in the same kitchen and encouring Batali to rise up and stage a coup at the FN. Funny, funny stuff.

cc, okay, okay. She gets praise for rising from a bad back ground and protecting her siblings. Lighten up. If Mother Teresa was stuppin Andrew Cuomo I would mock her too.

I love Bourdain [KC is a must read for anyone who eats in restaurants and anyone who lived in the ’70’s], but I had to stop watching No Reservations when he began interjecting his reflexive, lool-at-me-I’m-cool liberalism in the episodes [sad too, because his visits with Ted Nugent and Alice Cooper were very fair].

I don’t object to Stacy posting the story, and I find the Cuomo angle very interesting. I just think that the article he posted to was a hit piece, and that’s what I was talking about.

Sandra Lee is awesome because she’s so fake. You watch her boil ravioli and then dump salsa mixed with mayonnaise on top to form a “super easy” sauce. Then she shows you a table made from denim with the silverware in the pockets. All while being the skinniest woman on tv, because she obviously only eats shrimp in-between cleansing.

Gee. Didn’t we get our current president in much the same fashion?

Bob, you really should have seen the episode where he got evac’d fron Beirut by the USMC, and was amazed to find out that Marines are actual human beings, not mindless killbots.

Granted, he never quite sorted out his cognitive dissonance, but he at least allowed his honest confusion to spill over the entire episode.

    So, there may be hope.

Alas, we don’t have cable. But in this age of “fame for nothing,” it’s par for the course. Personally, I still don’t get the fascination with Rachel Ray.

For all you foodies, I found a wonderful chef who (wonders of wonders!) is “living the dream” of making a living by being a full-time food blogger. He makes amazing recipe videos. Fun, not pretentious, but can create some very frou-frou recipes at times if that’s your thing. Me? I’ve become quite partial lately to the Inside-Out Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Absolutely killer.

No Reservations should do at episode at P.J. O’Rourke’s house. They can go out and butcher one of O’Rourke’s steers and then grill it, all the while enjoying witty banter, tobacco products, and adult beverages.

    I want to go.

Why all the vitriol? Its a goddam cooking show for fucksake! I suppose I have too much on my mind to get get all righteously angry and shit about a girl on a cooking show seen by all of 48 people at a time.

Nah. She doesn’t eat what she prepares on TV: otherwise, she’d be packing the pounds like crazy… and there’d be no hot commodity boyfriend, either!

ccoffer: You don’t have to live with a wife who likes her a lot.

newton: She’s way, way to skinny, but she does have an incredible rack [see my comment to ccoffer to understand that I’ve had ample (!) opportunity to study this issue].

it is a hit piece to you because it is true

Yes cuomo the home mortgage destroyer is calling out paladino for accepting money from NY and then when he doesn’t accept money the next time an ad can be put out saying we need to impeach paladino for not caring about NY’s needs
