OUT: Real Gays. IN: Fake Lesbians.

They’re everywhere these days:

Just one day after the author behind a popular Syrian lesbian blog admitted to being a married, American man named Tom MacMaster, the editor of the lesbian news site Lez Get Real, with the tagline “A Gay Girl’s View on the World,” acknowledged that he is also a man.
“Paula Brooks,” editor of Lez Get Real since its founding in 2008, is actually Bill Graber, 58, a retired Ohio military man and construction worker who said he had adopted his wife’s identity online. Graber said she was unaware he had been using her name on his site.

These incidents have aroused strong suspicion that “Amanda Marcotte” is actually a fictional character created by Ace of Spades.

UPDATE: An icky plot twist noted by Bryan Preston at PJ Tatler: “Two straight men find out they have been flirting with each other as fake lesbians. . . .  There’s a kind of justice in that, wouldn’t you say?” Kind of.

UPDATE II: Responding to inquiries, Andrew Sullivan has just issued a statement confirming that he is, in fact, “a complete homo.”

That’s Good to Know

President Obama says he would resign if he ever got caught sending photos of his penis to women he’d never met:

“I can tell you that if it was me, I would resign,’’ Obama told [NBC’s Ann] Curry. . . .
“When you get to the point where, because of various personal distractions, you can’t serve as effectively as you need to, at the time when people are worrying about jobs, and their mortgages, and paying the bills — then you should probably step back,’’ Obama said.
Obama added that what Weiner did was “highly inappropriate’’ and that he has “embarrassed himself” and his wife and family, but said it will ultimately come down to a decision by Weiner and his constituents as to whether he will continue in office.

So far, all Obama has done is wreck the American economy, but that’s not nearly as embarrassing as posting your penis on Twitter.

Who’s Up for Some More Weiner?

I’m kind of Weinered out today, frankly, but I know readers expect their daily dose of Weiner updates, so here goes:

So there’s your daily dose of Weiner updates, and here’s my latest American Spectator column:

Police showed up Friday afternoon at the home of a 17-year-old girl in Delaware who had been among Rep. Anthony Weiner’s online fans. Within 24 hours, three top Democrats issued calls for Weiner’s resignation.
The timing was merely a coincidence, some Democratic sources told reporters. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel had actually been planning to release their statements anyway. Their “coordinated effort was [already] in the works,” one insider told Russell Berman of the Hill, adding that the statements “were released on Saturday to get ahead of the Sunday shows and the return of lawmakers on Monday.” So while the Brooklyn congressman was announcing that he would take a leave of absence to seek “professional treatment” for whatever compulsions led to the scandal that has become known as WeinerGate, his Democratic colleagues were chiefly concerned about working the news cycle to their advantage.
Democrats appear increasingly desperate to put political distance between their party and the disastrously disgraced Weiner, because they have no idea what further revelations await. . . .

Read the whole thing, because you can never have too much Weiner.

UPDATE: The latest on Congressman Junkshot:

A Democratic source who spoke to Anthony Weiner after Democratic leaders called on him to resign Saturday told CNN that even with that public hammer dropped on him, Weiner made clear he was still “on the fence” about whether to step down.Democratic sources CNN has talked to since Saturday said that Weiner told Democrats pressuring him to go that he wanted to wait for his wife Huma to return from a trip with Hillary Clinton. . . .
The same Democratic source said that Weiner was emotionally falling apart on the phone in this and other conversations and in a state of “despair.” Other Democratic sources who talked to him late last week described him the same way. Another person who spoke to him on Saturday called Weiner’s disposition “turbulent.”

So, he’s an emotional basket case who still thinks he’s fit for high public office.

“Not only are political sex scandals great fun, they serve an important social purpose. They remind us that we should think twice before we cede more power to these clowns.”
— Gene Healey, quoted by Matt Welch at Reason Hit & Run

Dave Weigel Interviews the Guy Who’s Going to Win the Big Debate Tonight

In New Hampshire:

At the end of a short press scrum here, Herman Cain got a question he’s always asked semi-nervously: So, uh, how’s it going out there for a black Republican candidate?

Go back and read my 2007 interview with Herman Cain: He’s been dealing with questions like this for years, and isn’t going to be thrown off his game by it. Also today, the pundits are having a conniption over a Daily Caller interview in which Cain applies his experience as Godfather’s Pizza CEO to foreign policy. (Jim Antle calls this the “Pizza Doctrine.”)

Get over it. Once Cain stomps Romney in tonight’s debate like Godzilla stomped Tokyo, the pundits will be even more desperate to find some way to prove Cain can’t win.

And then he’ll just keep winning, to the eternal mystification of all the experts who said it couldn’t be done.

Da Tech Guy is at the scene of tonight’s debate and reports that security is trying to deny him access to the media room. Time to raise hell, I say!

Meanwhile, in Beverly Hills, California:

“I will endure the challenges. I will carry the message of American renewal to every part of this great land,” Gingrich told a crowded ballroom at a Beverly Hills hotel. “And with the help of every American who wants to change Washington, we will prevail.”

Yeah, Newt: Just keep reaching out to those grassroots conservatives in Beverly Hills . . .
