PAUL RYAN SCORES CRUSHING VICTORY OVER BIDEN IN DEBATE

Posted on | October 11, 2012 | 117 Comments

UPDATED 10:22 p.m. ET: Headline from John Nolte:

MEDIA HAMMERS BIDEN:
‘STOP SMIRKING!’ ‘WEIRD,’ ‘JERK’

UPDATED 10:19 p.m. ET: A few more thoughts from Twitter:

I’m going to have to start putting together my column for the American Spectator.

UPDATED 10:03 p.m. ET: It’s clear that Biden was advised to be aggressive, to bulldoze, interrupt and filibuster, to treat Ryan with contempt. The astonishing thing (or, maybe not) is how moderator Martha Raddatz is enabling that strategy.

UPDATED 9:39 p.m. ET: VodkaPundit is drunkblogging. Biden is drunkdebating.

UPDATED 9:35 p.m. ET:

UPDATED 9:12 p.m. ET: Biden interrupted Ryan’s second answer to accuse Ryan of “malarkey” — because Joe’s an expert on “malarkey”!

* * PREVIOUSLY 8:30 p.m. ET * *

This is rather a bold headline, consdiering that it’s now 8:30 p.m. ET and the debate in Danville, Ky., doesn’t even begin for another half-hour, but I’ve been saying for the past week that Ryan would make mincemeat of Biden, so there’s little additional risk in going all-out balls-to-the-wall with my headline.

Ace, on the other hand, is trying to tamp down expectations for reasons that are entirely factual and logical, which is OK, if that’s how you roll.

Me, I’ve got no problem going big. Dave Weigel asks, “Can Joe Biden Save Barack Obama?” And I say, “RAAAAACIST! How dare you say Obama needs a white man to save him?”

Anyway, consider this your Official Vice Presidential Debate Thread. There’s an NFL game on tonight, if you’d rather watch that, then check back here later to see exactly how Ryan stomped Biden.

EXPECT UPDATES . . . .

I watched the football game long enough to see the Steelers take the lead, now I’m letting the DVR record the game while I watch the debate, then after the debate I’ll catch up on the game.

Biden is rude. He keeps looking at Martha to back him up. Yech!

The Mod totally sucks. Biden is running the debate, with Ryan debating both the people at that table. Biden is coming off looking like a rude jackass. This is going to backfire on the dems.

Ryan got his ass beat. Anyone who disagrees has an agenda, doesn’t understand what a fact is, and does not understand a debate. This headline is only trying to take advantage of people typing “Biden stomped Ryan” for ad revenue.

Biden absolutely crushed Ryan. In countless ways. My favorite moments were when Biden said “if he was so successful in Massachusetts, why isn’t he even contesting it??” Awesome, and HILARIOUS. The part about the east in Afghanistan was amazing as well. Oh, and how about “No, that’s not the way the nation is going” (referencing Scranton). It was ridiculous. Oh, and the auto piece. Yes, and, “You wrote me letters begging for this very stimulus money that you are criticizing.”

To hell with O and Biden; feel sorry for the country while those two clowns are in charge of it. Ryan came across like a leader. Biden like a jerk.

What’s so bad about this is Biden lost ground for your lousy president tonight. We will remember Biden being a complete jerk, his weird sighs, his smirks, his constant interruptions – that’s what everyone saw. He looked like the chesire cat.No one will remember a word he said, but they will remember the pettiness, the rudeness, the slightly insane mannerisms. Now, since you are an ignorant s.o.b., you won’t realize how bad this hurt your failing campaign to re-elect the worst president in American history. So, click your heels three more times, Dorothy. Keep living on Fantasy Island because we are going to trounce you.

    “absolutely crushed”
    “countless ways”

Debate brings out the trolls. It’s like an extension of Biden’s Chris Matthews-like behavior. Fun to watch, really.

Biden totally won over all the people who were going to vote for Obama, no matter what. So I’ll score that as a solid win for him. Unfortunately this doesn’t move the ball on the shaky field Obama has prepared.

All Ryan had to do was not sound uninformed or unskilled. His relative youth probably turns off the drunk old Dems watching the debate, but his general demeanor and command of reality (Joe definitely has command of the surreal) make it a good performance for his first national debate.

This being Joe’s second, he should have sounded more like an experienced politician, and less like Tip O’Neill on any day after 5pm.

These trolls are likely paid by the word, with a special rate for polysyllabic words. And bonuses for avoiding spelling errors and grammatical mistakes.

Oh, who do you think you’re kidding? Ryan got owned and humiliated. Serves him right for trying to carry Romney’s water.

I’m going for Johnson. At least he believes in what he’s selling.

  29. Christopher Michael Potter
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:09 am

Clear-cut win for Biden. He gave the kind of battling performance so lacking in Obama’s tepid debate effort last week. But if Ryan wins in the polls, I guess there’s no hope for folks who think like I do. Come out fighting, they’ll call you a demagogue. Come out pussyfooting, they’ll call you a wimp. You may love the way things are swiftly changing in this campaign, Robert Stacy McCain. But the thought of being ruled by people who think the way you do gives me chills.

I feel sorry for YOU, Rosalie. These social-Darwinist jerks have obviously snookered you. I don’t think you’d be very happy at all in an America ruled by male billionaire thugs.

  32. K-Bob
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:18 am

I’m apparently kidding far fewer people than you.

CNN Poll after debate: Ryan 48%, Biden 44%
    CNBC after-debate poll: Ryan 56%, Biden 36%

  33. K-Bob
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:20 am

Typical. Lefties think of being those who Rule, therefore everyone else must think the same way.

Sorry, we follow the Constitution. I know it’s inconvenient.

  34. Christopher Michael Potter
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:21 am

To JeffS: I see Mr. McCain has written something called “Why Liberals Hate You.” All I can say is, I’m a liberal and I don’t hate anyone making replies here regardless of their political persuasion. I DO hate those who would impinge on my personal liberties and those of Americans in general. And given the title of his book (Article?), it certainly sounds as though Mr. McCain is (or would like to be) one of those impingers. Anyone who’d write something entitled why so-and-so hates you is ironically attempting to stir up hatred himself.

You guys love billionaires. Especially when they have oil and make women wear veils.

  39. Christopher Michael Potter
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:26 am

Because I’m an American to the core and proud to be one. But if Mitt prevails and the plutocrats take over, America’s going to be so unrecognizable 4 years from now that maybe even you will regret having voted for these fanatics.

  40. Christopher Michael Potter
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:28 am

What’s that supposed to mean? I HATE billionaires who make women wear veils — plus rob them of all their basic human rights. Please don’t lump me in with other far-lefties! And please check your own agenda to make sure YOU’D be willing to treat females as equals!

  41. Christopher Michael Potter
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:30 am

    I don’t.

  42. Garym
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:30 am

You use “ruled” in a way that would make our president king over us. Read the fucking constitution. We need to take back this government and “rule” over it. I refuse to be a slave to my government.
    Typical leftist tripe!

  43. Garym
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:35 am

And if the socialists stay in power, the “plutocrats” will be taken out to the woods. What a great country that will be.

  44. K-Bob
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:35 am

Obama is the post-American President. A vote for him is a vote for continued destruction of this nation. So whatever you might mean by being “American to the core” it sure doesn’t mean anything about the Republic founded in 1776.

  45. Christopher Michael Potter
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:39 am

My god, you’re obtuse! I really have no idea what you’re trying to say here. I will, however, assert that: 1) I don’t think of myself as being one who rules; 2) I don’t believe that everybody must think the same way; 3) I believe in the Constitution, and never thought of it as “inconvenient.”

Is that enough of an answer? As I said, I really don’t understand your message. Care to clarify?

  46. JeffS
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:40 am

Sorry, Chris, but you used a word earlier — “rule” — that clued us as to your real nature.

So I imagine there won’t be any paycheck from OFA waiting for you. Bummer, huh?

  47. JeffS
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:43 am

You need to read the article before you criticize it. Because you know not of which you speak.

And no bonus for trying to hijack the thread; I’m pretty sure the OFA book keepers have already zeroed out your account, due to your earlier misspeak..

  48. Christopher Michael Potter
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:44 am

Hmmm…..What could you possibly mean? Why do you apply boogieman status to the word “rule,” no matter what context it’s put into? Is there some secret code involved here I’m not aware of? Can you clarify?

Oh, P.S: I don’t want anyone “ruled” by others.

  49. JeffS
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:45 am

Male billionaire thugs? Like Obama’s bestest friend ever, Warren Buffet?

Or do you mean all of the millionaires on the roles of the Democrats?

Careful how you speak, sir! You might displease your masters.

  50. JeffS
    October 12th, 2012 @ 12:46 am

Then you need to relook at the leftie leaders you are supporting. How many of them live in trailer parks, hmmmmm?
