Kaitlyn Hunt appears at Tuesday hearing.
UPDATE 3:10 p.m. ET: Elliot Jones reports at WPTV-TV:
Circuit Court Judge Robert Pegg revoked bond for Kaitlyn Hunt, and she’ll remain jailed until a trial, that’s so far unscheduled.
The judge also added a new charge to her court record — transmitting material harmful to a minor by electronic equipment, a third-degree felony.
“The evidence is overwhelming,” Pegg said in ordering Hunt held in jail without bail.
A tearful Kaitlyn Hunt, in a bright orange jail jumpsuit and shackles, periodically glanced at her father in the Indian River County courtroom, as Sheriff’s Detective Jeremy Sheppard testified about new evidence in her teen sex case having to do with being in contact with the victim via electronic equipment.
UPDATE 2:05 p.m. ET: Bond was revoked after Judge Robert Pegg described evidence of Kaitlyn Hunt’s violation of her pretrial release as “overwhelming.” An arraignment date was set for the new charges of transmitting “material harmful to minors,” and Hunt was escorted out of the courtroom and back to the Indian River County Jail.
UPDATE 1:50 p.m. ET: Kaitlyn Hunt was handcuffed and shackled and wearing an orange jail uniform when she appeared in court today, facing new felony charges of violating her bond and sending illegal graphic sex materials to her underage girlfriend.
Detective Jeremy Shepherd testified about the explicit photos and video Hunt sent to the minor, who is now 15. He said he was contacted on Aug. 6 after the younger girl’s father found an iPod that Hunt had given the victim in March. This was used to transmit more than 20,000 text messages, photos and video. Detective Shepherd said that while the explicit video that shows Hunt masturbating only shows the defendant from the waist down, he was able to identify her from her pierced bellybutton and tattoos.
Detective Jeremy Shepherd testifies at Tuesday’s hearing.
Judge Robert Pegg listens to testimony in Tuesday’s hearing.
UPDATE 12:55 p.m. ET: According to the court docket, prosecutors have filed a new felony charge of “Transmission of material harmful to minors to a minor by electronic device or equipment” (847.0138).
Kaitlyn Hunt has been reminded why they call it ‘jailbait’
Today is the bond revocation hearing in Vero Beach:
Accused Florida sex offender Kaitlyn Hunt returned to jail Monday night prior to a hearing today in which prosecutors will argue that her bond should be revoked and that the 19-year-old former cheerleader should be kept in custody until her trial on felony charges of having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Hunt, whose case has attracted nationwide media attention, voluntarily turned herself in at the Indian River County Jail about 9 p.m. Monday night. She had been out on $5,000 bond since her February arrest, but last week prosecutors filed a stunning document alleging that Hunt had repeatedly violated the court-ordered terms of her pretrial release by contacting the victim in the case, who is now 15.
Ron Barnett of Barnett Bail Bonds in Vero Beach told the Palm Beach Post that it was Hunt’s decision to return to jail pending today’s 1 p.m. hearing before Circuit Court Judge Robert Pegg. . . .
Please read the whole thing at ViralRead. I’ll be updating later with news of today’s hearing, which should be interesting.
What is also interesting — and thanks to Jeanette Runyon for all her work in following this — is how Kaitlyn Hunt’s supporters, in order to argue for their lesbian heroine’s victimhood, find themselves obliged to demonize the parents of the younger girl:

@NASCARNAC @rsmccain more #FreeKate demoniztion of the victim and her family pic.twitter.com/bKR1fzc44g
— PuertoRicanCracker (@Jeanette_Runyon) August 20, 2013
In this, her supporters echo the arguments originally made in a May 17 Facebook post by Kaitlyn’s mother, Kelley Hunt Smith, who blamed the younger girl’s parents: “They are trying to send an innocent young girl to prison because they are full of hate and bigotry.”
Parents who are trying to raise their daughter right, and who expect Florida to enforce its own law — which sets age of consent at 16 — are being scapegoated by weirdos who want to make gay rights an argument to declare “open season” on 14-year-olds.
But Cognitive Dissonance is …
“Give us Barabbas!” …
I am just awaiting the issuance of warrants for the arrest of Kelly Hunt for witness tampering, Obstruction of Justice and Aiding and Abetting the transmission of pornographic Images to a Minor.
Then I’ll lift a libation in honor of the SA’s office and the judge issuing the warrants.
Generally, there is no duty for a bystander to report a crime to the police. If, however, aid is given such as helping to destroy or hide evidence, then one may be charged with “aiding and abetting after the fact.” The “aiding after the fact” charge is usually one to two steps below the underlying crime. For example if Robbery is a Class A (Highest) felony, aiding after the fact by hiding the gun would be a class C felony.

It may, emphasis “may,” be more difficult than we suppose. If she only knew about the communications, she would not necessisarly be under a duty to disclose that information to the police. If she facilitated those communications in some way with knowledge that a crime would be or had been committed, that’s a different story. A more interesting question concerns Florida Civil Forfeiture Laws. For example, in my state, if my child has a drug lab in his room, whether or not I know about it, the state might claim my property was used in the commission of a crime. Ergo, it should be forfeited. It happens all the time, mostly to innocent people, but law enforcement is addicted to forfeiture money for their SWAT toys and such. Normally, I loathe such laws, but I confess, I would not shed a tear under these circumstances if they were deployed agains Kelly Hunt.

What stands out for me, in addition to the blatant moral bankruptcy of Kate supporters, is the inability to think logically and rationally. First, the argument not to enforce the law is that all “normal” kids “experiment” with sex. (That used to mean getting hold of a Playboy. Now it means having finger sex in a school restroom.) Next, the argument is that they’re both kids. After that, it’s that they’re in love. Now, we have Kate Hunt charged with transmitting porn to a minor. Is that another law that society is supposed to ignore because . . . LUV? I worked on a case once where the girl dumped the boyfriend and he went to her house and shot her in the face when she opened the door. She was 19. He did it because . . .LUV. He just loved her soooo much. Get real, people.

If you read the State Attorney’s allegations (see the earlier story by Stacy) Kelly was deeply involved with the witness tampering, subornation of perjury and destruction of evidence (in Florida that is Obstruction of Justice). These activities show a concious knowledge of what Kate was doing, the illegality of Kate’s actions and a conscious act to cover-up and allow Kate to continue her felonious acts and violations of her pre-trial release.

Given the evidence presented in court today, why hasn’t Kelley Hunt Smith been charged with obstructing an investigation or perverting the course of justice?
Let’s push for that.
Keep in mind Kos bailing doesn’t mean he doesn’t believe in the cause; it simply means he doesn’t want to back a loser, like the big union boss in “On the Waterfront”.
I think you’re going to need to elaborate your two word post. She broke her bond agreement, which Kaitlyn Hunt as an adult signed. She continued to engage in sexual assault with the minor, and distributed pornography over a communication device (which is regulated by federal agencies). You bet Kaitlyn “blessed fingers” Hunt is being charged with felonies.

I say, charge the freaks attacking the victim’s parents! Investigate them! Round them all up! If they love what Kate does so much, they’re probably doing it to, and just haven’t been caught yet. They can share a cell with her.
I’ve heard them arguing that 26-year-old men should have unrestricted sexual access to 13-year-old girls, willing or otherwise. They were saying that back in April even. So I KNOW some of them are heavily into being sex predators. Florida needs a sting operation to weed them out.
Possibly they are holding off on charging the parents to avoid further delay and complication in the daughter’s case.
And isn’t the “experimenting” supposed to wait until college?

The thought occurred to me, as well. I noticed that many GLBT groups backed off once it was clear that, if they want to push the “normalcy” meme, backing a sexual predator is not going to make you look “normal” to regular society. I imagine a lot of the supporters left might be those who know they clearly backed the wrong horse but are too proud/emotionally invested to stop.
Hey, I trademarked that one for the Trayvon shooting. Pay up, buttercup.
You are right, but I think Katie is to blame too. Once we know the law we ought to do better.
You were born that way but just don’t know it. You need a “wise fagelah” to reveal it to you.
At the very least maybe give them a taste of attention and/or doxxing. That worked nicely with many of Palin’s “critics”.
the new jersey ban against gay counseling for kids is about trying to get kids to change their mind. a parent may not pressure a child into abortion in new jersey or any other state. your argument is flawed. new jersey is not banning a medical service between a child and their doctor, but rather treatment elicited by someone else. I’m pro life but your argument is plain wrong.

The Hunt family did everything they could to dox the victim’s family.
I simply am aghast at the sheer oblivious weirdness of some responses – Kaitlyn is “just a girl”, and too young to face the consequences of felonious behavior. But the victim is old enough, and mature enough, to consent?
Do these people ever read what they write?
Yes, Kate, when you choose an action, you choose the consequences of that action. You have chosen, and you’re going to jail.
All she had to do was stay away from the victim. That’s all. Now, because she believed the rules didn’t apply to her, she’s completely wrecked her life.
Congratulations, Hunt family!

Treatment elected by a parent/guardian for a minor. Here in Florida any interference in the medical treatment choices of a parent regarding their minor child may not be interfered with as long as the treatment is legal, to do so is known as “Custodial Interference”, a felony.
I am a supporter of her because she does not deserve this. And it is not just a small group left. I will continue to support her because this is just wrong in all sense.
