#FreeKate Mom Defining Deviancy Down

A few weeks ago, I used “The New Abnormal” as the title of an American Spectator column about Sydney Leathers and the Anthony Weiner scandal, and it’s also fairly apt for this example:

“My issue is this. These people are making Kate look like some pervert, some deviant because this happens to be girl/girl. People can deny that all they want, but its the truth. A senior boy would get a pat on the back for dating a freshman girl, it happens ALL the time, its happening at Sebastian High school and every other high school TODAY! . . .”

(Maybe it’s happening to your kids, Kelley, or to the kids of the other scummy no-account trash you seem to associate with, but it’s not happening to my kids, and if I found out it was happening to my kids, somebody would be in big trouble. Excuse me for interrupting. Now I’ll let you keep digging that hole for yourself.)

“Freshman girls, date, go to the prom, have relations with senior boys all the time . . .”

(Now that you bring up this subject, what about the claim that you let Kate’s sister Emily date a 20-year-old when she was only 14? Do you consider that perfectly normal, too?)

“. . . no one calls the boys perverts or deviants. They are making it some sick twisted, and dirty because its a lesbian relationship. BUt its NOT. Its kids, being kids. . . . .”

(You really should proofread your Facebook messages, Kelley. Or were you writing this while drunk?)

“Its 2013, kids are sexting in middle school. . . .”

(And you know this . . . how?)

“Do i like it, or approve NO but it doesn’t make these kids deviants or sex offender come on!! . . .”

(Ungrammatical sentence full of errors come on!!)

“This is a HORRIBLE situation and parents better be praying and getting on board to change these laws because any of you, could be next!!”

Kelley Hunt Smith never mastered basic grammar, and we can’t expect her to employ logic in her arguments, but the combination of bad writing, bad logic and bad morals is frightening.

Even if she believes her own childish “everybody’s doing it” argument, does she expect responsible adults to be persuaded by it?

But does Kelley Hunt Smith actually know any responsible adults?

If her kids were arrested for robbing a liquor store, Kelley Hunt Smith would be arguing, “Well, everybody’s robbing stores nowadays.”

She’s right about one thing, though: Parents “better be praying” — that their kids never get mixed up with skanky trash like Kelley’s kids.

  1. Sebastian High School and its school district must have rules that are rather different from the districts with which I’m familiar. In those school districts prom is restricted to juniors and seniors only.

    I believe this might be the pertinent question, along with “does Kelley Hunt Smith actually know any responsible teens?”

    I have an 18 and 19 year old I could introduce her to. Both outright state they are not ready for the responsibilities of a sexual relationship yet. Perhaps having standards, as a parent, has helped.

    I know any young adult’s head could get turned tomorrow by someone new in their life, but I’ve worked with many junior and senior high school students who avoid the partying ways of other students.

  3. She thinks the FreeKaters keep reporting her and Twitter keeps suspending. Twitter, however, is leaving up the accounts that are doxing her, lying about her, and the fake accounts that are pretending to be her. I think it is time for Twitter users (I’m not one) to get her out of the gulag.

  4. I’m thinking of my own kids and just shaking my head at Kelley’s “everybody’s doing it” arguments.

    Two of my sons are 12 and 14. Sexting in middle school? Are you freaking kidding me?

  8. I’m not sure why anyone would be surprised by Ms. Hunt’s statements. She looks around her and sees only a set of behaviors which she defines as “normal.” Consequently, when evidence of a different reality smacks her in the face, she rebels and refuses to believe there is another way to live. She’s like one of those convicts chained up in Plato’s cave. She sees nothing but shadows and refuses to believe there is a light out there if she’d just look for it.

  13. Dating is one thing. Sticking your finger in the girls vagina in the rest room or using a dildo on her in your or her home is another.

    I think the applicable legal definition here would be “penetration however deep . . .”

    If any of you decide to finger a 14 year old in the rest room of a school or stick a dildo (or anything else) in her at your home or her home, YES IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!!!1!!!!

    It being charged with a felony and if found guilty will do a legally adjudicated amount of time in a prison and then made to register as a sex offender the rest of your life.

    Equality isn’t just for 18 years olds.

  15. I think some at Sebastian High School should be held accountable, including the principal, who according to the Hunt’s was entirely supportive of FreeKate remaining at the school after admitting to sexual crimes against a child at the school.
    Shame on that principal!

    The basketball coach at the school is the only one we know of responsible enough with integrity to inform the victim’s parents about the abuse of their child.
    Took a lot of guts to do that considering all we now know of the Hunt’s.

  16. I didn’t think this was about dating at all. I thought it was about sordid lesbian sex with a minor. Last time I checked there were no specific laws regarding consent and dating.

  17. From everything we’ve seen of Kelley’s diminished morality if her daughter ends up a stripper, that’s okay. And she wouldn’t be able to understand why other parents wouldn’t want their daughters to be strippers too.

  24. Deep down, the lovely Mrs Smith knows that if her green-eyed cheerleader daughter goes to jail, it’s because Mrs Smith enabled her daughter’s actions. She might not have been present and able to do anything about the at school sessions, but who allowed Miss Hunt to have her girlfriend over for an overnighter?

  32. The parents of the other girl let it be known to stay away from her. Parental rights. Just because you let your kids do something does not mean I have to allow my kids to do it . I have a 14 year old daughter and I control the cell phone, computer and TV. She does have enough freedom and trust because I brought her up right. There are plenty of Kelly Hunts in the world. She is the cool mom, but no one respects her. They just want to use her house for the next kegger.
