Cop-Hater Kills Two Cops in Brooklyn Ambush; NY Times Obfuscates Motive

Michelle Malkin: “Sickos on the Left have been stoking hatred against cops for months now in the wake of Ferguson and explicitly calling for their murder.” They finally got what they wanted Saturday when a cop-hater named Ismaaiyl Abdulah Brinsley shot his ex-girlfriend near Baltimore, posted anti-cop messages on social media and drove to New York where he murdered two NYPD officers in an ambush in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The cop-killer then killed himself.

The killer participated in anti-police protests and, in his social media messages, referenced both the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson and the death of Eric Garner in New York. However, Weasel Zippers points out that the New York Times is attempting to obscure Brinsley’s motive by depicting him as “random crazy.” Liberals never accept responsibility for the evil results of liberalism, because the whole point of liberalism is the evasion of personal responsibility.

  1. We’re not trying to justify police violence, but that incident doesn’t justify retaliation; don’t you agree?

  2. And they call us the haters; most conservatives at least expressed regret that a police officer was forced to kill a thug in self defense.

  3. They don’t want a race war they must keep the conflict down to the civil disturbance level. The hope is that this will lead to funding as it did in the 60s and early 70s. The current administration’s interest is gaining more control of local and state police and sheriffs departments.

  4. Wrong. We place blame on the race hustlers who foment violence and hide behind the actions of others. Protest is one thing; advocating murder is another. I assume you’re smart enough to know that. SCOTUS ruled on it years ago.

  5. What’s fascinating is the troll who has appeared on this thread refuses to acknowledge the precipitating factor in Eric Garner’s death. It was a law against selling single cigarettes passed by the liberals of New York in order to make sure they got every last penny of tobacco taxes. No prohibition against the sale of”loosies,” no reason to arrest Eric Garner, and he is alive today.

Our troll, and other liberals, fail to see the connection between criminal law and state violence. When the police enforce the liberals’ laws, it’s the policemen’s fault, not the limousine liberals who decided to screw around with people’s lives and freedoms in the first place.

  6. 2 Policemen are dead. The asshole who shot them stated on “social” media that he was going to do it for Garner. “Peaceful” protesters, who were egged on by the perpetual grievance mongers on left, were yelling for dead cops. The blood is on their hands. Prove me wrong.

  7. Garner died from cardiac arrest brought on by compression of his abdominal cavity and his underlying health problems. The hyoid bone in his neck was not broken, ruling out strangulation but not asphyxiation by other causes.

  8. For one thing a race war would almost have to involve two or more races shooting at each other or at least fighting with primitive weapons or fists. Some might argue that the ”knockout game” is an act of ”race war”. As there is no retaliation from those other ”unruly teens” I would disagree. A driveby shooting by gang A is an attack. A retaliatory driveby shooting by gang B against gang A is the beginning of a ”gang war”.

  9. I took a class with the execrable “white privilege” insanity. It flat out pissed me off. The text book writer was a rich Chinese professor from the west coast where Asians often are very wealthy. I am a factory worker’s son never handed a thing, but I’m “privileged”

  10. They should pick a case that has merit. The Crawford and Rice cases in Ohio, are truly worthy of outrage. The Brown case in Ferguson and the Garner case in NY are not.

  11. I’ve also heard it posited (HT: Bill Whittle) that the ‘troubles’ are a way of teaching us white folk exactly what will happen if we try to impeach the first (nominally*) black president.

    * It’s funny how you only need a drop of black or indigenous blood to claim victim status, but the substantial presence of white blood in the mix doesn’t immediately qualify you as a white honky or cracker.

  12. Dinkins, like every post-war mayor prior to Giuliani, was ineffectual in addressing and attempting to reverse extant social problems. Di Blasio and Judge Scheindlin have been bent on exacerbating social problems in the service of their self-aggrandizing social fictions.

Dinkins was a congenial issue of New Jersey’s black bourgeoisie (father a local merchant), was schooled in serious subjects (mathematics and law), and served in the military. Other than messy household finances, no scandals have ever adhered to him. He wasn’t an ace mayor, but he was better than John Lindsay and on a par with the post-war median aside from Lindsay.

  13. There will probably never be another impeached and convicted president. For this to happen would require the non-presidential party to have enough members of their party in the senate. Even if the Republicans had the votes they’re too spineless to do the right thing. The perfectly reasonable fear of civil unrest is no good reason not to impeach Obama but the lack of votes is.
The incitement to riot no doubt serves this regime’s purposes but avoiding impeachment isn’t one of them.

  14. One could make the argument that absent the outrageous taxes Garner wouldn’t have been loitering there in the first place. However the police weren’t there looking for loosie sellers. They were dispatched because several businesses who can’t avoid paying those taxes complained. Once they called, the police had to show up and due to NY policing policy they couldn’t just tell him to ”move along”. What puzzles me is why Garner chose this particular time, out of all his arrests, to resist.

  15. Yeah, well, people know that in advance too. Garner took his chances, the same way every pot dealer has for a half century. When cops raid them, bust their heads and throw them in prison they have no one to blame but themselves. There’s what you should be able to do and what you can do. Dealing with that reality means personal responsibility for swimming against the tide. Right has nothing to do with it, because what’s right is to not put yourself in harm’s way.

  16. Garner wasn’t murdered. He was arrested in the same way thousands are each year. The guy would’ve died if they’d forced him to run 100 yds. In the army they do far worse and don’t call it murder if someone collapses. Stop acting like this guy didn’t die as a direct result of his health.

  17. The same people who claim a lack of healthy and diverse representation in fictional media creates societal problems deny the effect of their direct non-fictional inflammatory rhetoric. Just another day at the Ministry of Liars.

  18. The man resisted arrest, procedure was followed, there is no evidence of a choke hold at all, except by armchair halfwits who don’t know what one is.

There were six other officers on the scene, including two supervising sergeants, one of whom is a black female. No one thought Garner was in distress or that excessive force was used.

“I can’t breathe” is said by virtually suspect taken to the ground in this way. Someone not breathing could not say that.

  19. So, essentially what you’re saying are cops are robots who can’t reason, think critically, or use discretion, and kill on behalf of the state for trivial infractions? ok, then. So protests, and fear of police should be no surprise then. Sorry, but no matter how you try to spin this the officers are the one’s who are responsible for Garners death, not the laws they were enforcing. They killed him due to personal pride, and daring to defy them. The mental gymnastics you had to pull to come up with a way to blame liberals was quite an achievement though.

  20. So you’re ok with cops murdering people for selling loose cigarettes, and resisting arrest? Yeah, you’re a real liberty lover. Just admit you’re being a contrarian and hate either blacks, and/or liberals enough that you’re ok with murder by cop? I guarantee if Garner was Cliven Bundy you’d be calling the cops the Gestapo and screaming about the police state. You guys are so transparent. It’s always about your belief system and any way you can enforce it.

  21. But they were cops, the lefties will argue, which is a “white” institution.
This logic will no doubt lead to these cops being labeled as Uncle Toms or the like for serving this white raaaaacist institution.

I even read yesterday, in the comments section at RawStory, that these two minority police officers were set up for the assassination by the other white cops.
Obviously there is no limit to the insanity of the leftists.

  22. And……these handcuffs are too tight, they’re hurting my wrists.
Cry’s for sympathy for those who’ve just been nabbed breaking the law.
They and their supporters will always shift the blame for results rather than accept responsibility for the actions that led to those results.

  23. I wondered when it would become Christian’s fault .

Would you make the same statement if we were commenting on abortion?

I strongly suspect that you consider the United Church of Christ, the United Methodist Church, the Episcopalian Church, and the United Presbyterian Church, the Episcopal Church, the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Lutheran Women’s Caucus to all be enlightened institutions.

  24. Watch the video and the time while it’s running.
By my count the so-called choke hold was in place for 14-15 seconds at the most.
While I believe that his death was wrong considering the offense, I also believe that by resisting he greatly amplified the effect of the hold- this, quite honestly because he was a fat-ass. If at any time during that 14-15 seconds he had just given up and gone limp the officer would have been able to relinquish the hold.

  25. At the time of this incident he was out on bail for selling untaxed cigarettes and other things.
It does seem to indicate that Mr.Garner had zero regard for the law.
In my opinion he was just a poor stupid shmuck who thought he could wade through life doing whatever the heck he wanted, laws and society be damned.
I hate like hell that even a guy like him had to die over something so petty but the man had a long history of law breaking which ultimately lead up to this tragedy.

  26. Why do you keep saying murder?

Murder is the intentional taking of a life- whether justified or unjustified.

I’m not going to waste time by going and copying a link for the definition for you because ignorance seems to be something you favor.

YOU are part of the problem because you are a bold-faced liar.

I think Eric Garner’s death was wrong. I think it sucks. I think the cops involves should lose their jobs for allowing such a petty incident to escalate to the point that a human being died.

But make no mistake about it, Eric Garner was partially at fault and it was an ACCIDENTAL death.
Anyone calling it murder is a liar. (This means you)

  27. I think you are in the right of it. The incendiary language about racist cops and racist prosecutors and racist grand juries and “police killing thousands of black men every year” isn’t intended to provoke Civil War v2.0; it’s intended to get votes for democrats and money for liberal special interests (and people like Smilin’ Al). Ditto the “War on Women” and “Rape Culture” meme we’ve been seeing so much of lately.

The sad thing is that people like Barry and de Babio and Smilin’ Al and Marcotte and Erdeley have no interest in the victims per se. Indeed, it’s rather to their advantage that victims REMAIN “victims”. So, no efforts to improve life for inner city blacks; no efforts to improve the safety of women (for example, by executing rapists). Just keep them in fear… and keep them voting.

  28. what you’re saying are cops are robots who can’t reason, think critically, or use discretion, and kill on behalf of the state for trivial infractions?

No, what I think he’s saying is that:

    1. The police have a sworn duty to uphold the laws. ALL of them. They don’t get to pick and choose in the way that, say, the president does

    2. They are empowered to use force, including deadly force, to see that those laws ARE upheld. To paraphrase the Bible, he beareth not the pistol (and TASER, and baton, and riot gun, and tear gas) in vain; for he is the minister of the state, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that breaketh the law.

People say that Garner didn’t deserve to die. I agree: selling a few loose cigarettes is a damned stupid, pointless reason to – even by accident – send a man off to the Great Beyond. But let’s be quite clear. The police didn’t just randomly stroll up to Garner and say, “Hey! Let’s kill this fat n*gger!”

The video makes it unmistakably clear that they told him to stop breaking the law. He refused. In the case of a person refusing to follow the lawful orders of the police – stop selling loose cigarettes, pull over and turn off your ignition, open-up-we-have-a-warrant, &c – the police not only have the right but the duty to compel adherence to the law. This means that they must arrest the person and, if he resists, use such force, up to and including lethal force, as they need to compel him to come along.

We cannot have the police deciding which laws they want to enforce. Indeed, is this not part of the liberal complaint, that they are selectively enforcing the law based on race?

People cannot have it both ways: they can’t demand a law regulating every activity (even something as trivial as selling loose cigarettes) and then complain – act horrified – when the police actually enforce them.

  29. Hell, if he’d simply said, “OK” when they told him to knock off peddling the smokes, he would still be alive. If he’d simply confined himself to protesting and threatening to get a lawyer but otherwise let them cuff him without struggling, he would still be alive.

I agree with you that he didn’t deserve to die for selling untaxed smokes, but his death is due in the main to his own poor decisions.

  30. What did he think was going to happen if he shook loose from their grip? Was he going to outrun them? If he could stop them from cuffing him for X number of minutes they’ed let him go? He’d certainly had enough experience being arrested to know that once they told him he was under arrest he wasn’t getting away.

  31. Officer Ramos was one of those “white Hispanics” like George Zimmerman.

Officer Liu, it stands to reason, was a white Oriental.

  32. Precisely. Liberals believe that police exist in a vacuum, and not as a means of enforcing the laws which society has placed on the books. That enforcement includes the use of force, up to and including deadly force.

And you’re right. The police cannot pick and choose which laws to enforce. Under such circumstances laws cease being laws and become “whims,” the very definition of “arbitrary and capricious.”

  33. I’ve noticed the gradual mainstreaming of anti-white-male hate too. It has slithered out of the obscure corners of academia where it used to hide in the 90’s and onto social media and certain cultural niches like SF, fantasy and, if GamerGate hadn’t gotten in the way, videogames.

People who laugh at you for taking this seriously are fools. Ideas have consequences, but why? Because language is the software of the human brain. It acts as a perception filter between our minds and reality. So even amusingly absurd ideas, if they gain widespread acceptance, can have real world consequences that are far from funny.

We already know what eventually happens when a minority is successfully dehumanised through conspiracy theories and blood libels. White men are a minority on this planet, and are likely to become a minority even in the societies their fathers built – unless something changes.

The sort of bien pensant conventional wisdom bores who think this could never threaten them or their sons remind me of the Ancien Regime in France. They probably thought the militant sans-culottes were funny too, at first.

Couple of things strike me about white-man-hate:

    1) it’s quite often dweeby white males who spread the toxic memes demonising Western “patriarchy”, accusing us of “institutional racism” and “white privilege”, and so on. Do they really think that this won’t ever catch up with them personally? It will.

    2) history tells us that it’s a really bad idea to make a mortal enemy of the white man. The proggies couldn’t have picked a worse target. Radical leftist successes so far have been contingent on their enemy not yet realising he’s under attack, or not yet caring enough because the stakes don’t appear very high. The moment that changes, things will get ugly indeed.

  34. You’re just trolling now. This issue has been about 5 yrs. of hate speech based on racial myths, anomalies like Garner and negative profiling of whites by social justice warriors. My belief system is based on equal protection, not the KKK.

  35. We live in a “consequence-free” society: laws / rules are only meant to be enforced when it’s convenient… or only for other people. It’s part ‘n’ parcel with those little delicate flowers who want their exams postponed so they can show how virtuous they are by “grieving” over Ferguson and Staten Island, but they don’t want any consequences like a failing grade, or the a$$holes who shut down the MoA to show how down they are with the struggle but think it’s unfair to be arrested or, in the cases of MoA employees who actively participated in disrupting the mall’s lawful business (and f*cking up people’s Christmas shopping), fired.

    Laws are for other people.
