Whatever happened to old-fashioned lesbian family values?
Rosie O’Donnell and her wife, Michelle Rounds, have split, and O’Donnell will leave “The View” next week to concentrate on her family’s well-being, Page Six can exclusively reveal.
Sources close to O’Donnell told us that she and Rounds, her wife of three years, have been living apart for months, and that O’Donnell feels she must leave the ABC daytime show to focus on her five kids.
Rosie’s rep, Cindi Berger, confirmed the marital split, as well O’Donnell’s departure from “The View,” in a statement Friday night: “I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave ‘The View.’ Next week will be her last.”
O’Donnell, 52, married her second wife Rounds in private in June 2012. In 2013, they adopted a baby girl, Dakota. She has four other older kids.
Notice that this is O’Donnell’s second lesbian wife. Her first marriage to longtime girlfriend Kelli Carpenter ended in 2007. Carpenter now has her own second wife, and the four O’Donnell-Carpenter children seem closer to Kelli than to Rosie. Nobody in the world of media is allowed to say a word about the unnatural weirdness of all this — two boys and three girls without fathers, one of them (Kelli’s youngest) conceived by artificial insemination — because equality!
This is the Feminist Dream Life™ of women free from the heteronormative oppression of male supremacy, and we are all required to believe that it’s a utopia of undimmed bliss. Nor are we permitted to point out that some women who once lived as lesbians are now happily married to men, because this contradicts everything we are supposed to “know,” about both (a) the alleged permanence of homosexual identity and (b) traditional marriage as patriarchal slavery for women.
Meanwhile, we learn that angry lesbians are not ratings gold:
The collapse of Rosie O’Donnell’s two-year marriage had nothing to do with her quitting the troubled daytime chat show, The View, show insiders have disclosed.
In fact, her sudden departure was prompted by rows with producers and other staff, who are said to be delighted she is leaving.
O’Donnell is being seen as the key reason for the show’s collapsing ratings, which had led to serious concerns over falling advertising revenue. . . .
ABC insiders now acknowledge it was a disastrous error to bring O’Donnell back to the show.
They say that far from her suggestion that her marriage had become troubled recently, it was already on the rocks when she was signed for The View.
Anyone who has observed Rosie O’Donnell over the years recognizes that she is the source of her own problems. Her “humor” (such as it is) emerges from a bitter and resentful heart. She hates happy people, envying them for experiencing a joy that she can never feel, and she refuses to accept that she is responsible for her own unhappiness.
In celebrating such unhappy people as role models for youth, the media elite have helped promote a Culture of Despair.
- Meanwhile, the Tolerance Fascists want a federal law to ban counselors from helping kids resist their abnormal urges.
- Don’t worry, Obamacare will fix your gender problems.

“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools . . .”
Rosie’s wife doesn’t look like the wife I remember.
Fat, belligerent and queer is no way to go thru life, miss.
Those poor poor babies. Deprived of a father. It seems the older Rosie is the crazier she has become.
In 2015 the public as a whole still intuitively knows there is something wrong, maybe not morally but at least psychologically, with changing genders. In 5 years time I wonder if that truth will be suppressed as well.
These people do not need scorn but help. They are working hard that they never receive true help.
Are the children adopted? Oh, right, they must be, because natural biology is homophobic.
Sorry but it’s difficult to empathize with a fat, loud mouthed, obnoxious cultural anarchist. Go away larda** and take your foul mouth with you.
Tomorrow Rosie O’Phat will be a dim memory and we’ll have Bruce Jenner to throw rotten tomatoes at. Target rich environment.
I don’t know a lot about her wives, but I am guessing getting those kids away from Rosie can only be a plus.
I was hoping the gay/lesbian couples would be able to keep their “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part” vows. It must be the fault of patriarchy somehow.
[…] http://theothermccain.com/2015/02/08/the-tragedy-of-lesbian-divorce/ […]
I’m very sorry for the children. Remember when headshrinkers told us (maybe they still do?) that divorce when the parents were unhappy was GOOD for kids? I’ thinking… not so much.
And I was under the impression that Rosie’s mental health record isn’t exactly clean: who the hell let her adopt a child???
This article could also be called the Tragedy of Celebrity Divorce. It is all about the narcissism.
I have long believed that the biggest discouragement to same-sex marriage in practice would be the repeal of no-fault divorce laws. However, good luck getting the majority of straight folks to go along with that idea.
[…] The Tragedy of Lesbian Divorce. […]
Yeah, but how do you figure out who gets the (ass)ets.
I favor an end to no-fault divorce — whether by going back to pre-“tender years” doctrine, or by going forward to mere civil contracts — but I don’t see what that has to do with same-sex marriage.
Shouldn’t be that hard, really. Screw over the one that made the masculine sacrifice and act of love to provide more for the other. I love picturing how Andrea Dworkin would be so disappointed at how rarely even homosexual relationships embody her ideal of an “androgynous eroticism.”
Another moonbat.
O’Donnell’s older brother is also a homosexual from late adolescence and very public about it.
One of her signatures when she was younger was uttering non-specific denunciations of her father (“emotions were not dealt with on any real level….even now I seldom talk to him”). You might think that when your in middle age, you’d cut some retrospective slack to a widower trying to raise five children on a technician’s salary, but you’re not Rosie.
It’ll take a while but after ten or twenty years have passed the divorce rates for same sex marriage will tell the tale.
Meanwhile, we learn that angry lesbians are not ratings gold:
Well, no. She made a name for herself as a talk-show host by putting on an act. When she stopped acting, she lost the audience.
Gender reassignment treatment, surgery in particular, is medical mal-practice on the mentally ill. This will become apparent as time and studies go on.
This culture of complaint, being largely American, has a near-phobic disdain for anything “normative”: whites, English, heterosexuality, families, men. Unfortunately those add up to success in global and historic terms. What you have then is a cult of people trying to build successful institutions out of the abnormal, or failure.
It’s the Bizarro world of the old Superman comics; lava for ice cubes, dentists make cavities, cars with square wheels. There is an air of suicidal sociopathy around this cult that is undeniable. Like normal humans, they strive for happiness but their mental health issues drive them away from any more abstract notions of success, other than the brute understanding that money has value and nice neighborhoods are better than bad ones, and yes don’t stick your hand in a fire.
Anyone who’s read fundamental queer theory (now new and improved with racist intersectionalism) knows these people despise every single edifice America was built on. Not only that, they exaggerate the negative aspects of that history to out of this world proportions and lie even more by maintaining they are particularly American failings, as if slavery and colonialism was invented by the Benjamin Franklin.
This is nothing more than what is called “The Long Con.” Its success will be ephemeral, but perhaps not before it destroys the West. Already Canada’s institutions look more like Orwell’s IngSoc day by day. Bring 100 million more immigrants into America from the Third World and you don’t have a more successful America but a failed Third World built on ruins. You don’t have to be a genius to figure out the average feminist not only doesn’t understand the Constitution (except the parts that directly benefit them) but they would hate it if they did.
Things like Rolls-Royce engines and time-keeping at sea didn’t come out of some bizarre socially engineered notion of diversity but from now-hated institutions. If you don’t like success, expect failure – and a lot of it. Success says “it is what it is.” Political correctness says “It is what it isn’t.” If you don’t like ethnic Europeans and the foundations of human rights are from that core and you destroy that core, then you can expect revisiting Jane Eyre going in the opposite direction. Men – some men – will once again be on top. It’s just a question of how short a leash the new owners will put on minorities, women and gays now bereft of a Constitution – the white one – the one they don’t like and sold down the river, along with their grandchildren’s futures.
Well, in my observation and experience very few people in the queer community aspire to permanent monogamy as a relationship ideal — mostly because, I suspect, the community has mistakenly bought (like, it must be admitted, the majority of the rest of us) into the libertine ideal that the quotient of sexual pleasure, an inherently transitory and unstable phenomenon, should trump emotional stability or familial potential when evaluating the worth of a relationship. Thus a marriage that didn’t offer the “escape hatch” of no-fault divorce, once initial passion has subsided to the point it can no longer cloak psychological conflicts, seems like it would have very little appeal.
Exceptions may exist, as always, but the basic trend is, I think, fairly demonstrable to anyone who looks at the stats on same-sex relationships; in one survey, there was not a single relationship (out of 156 profiled couples) lasting longer than two years which had not made allowance for outside activity as permissible. And as noted, this is in no way limited to same-sex couples; indeed, the mere existence of that escape hatch has contributed measurably to frivolous divorce and family breakdown among all couples.
Quite.
“What you have then is a cult of people trying to build successful institutions out of the abnormal, or failure.”
This is so true, and you see this in so many varieties of typical progressive attitudes:
1. “We live in the most important industrial nation in the world … so let’s embrace radical environmentalism and destroy our industries!”
2. “Israel is a U.S. ally surrounded by hostile savages … so Israel is obviously an imperialist power guilty of crimes against humanity!”
3. “Mexico is an impoverished socialist pigsty full of violence and anti-gringo hostility … so let’s import millions of illegal Mexicans!“
The race to the bottom consists of divvying up society by victim groups, determining the lowest common denominator amongst them, then pandering to it. Rinse and repeat.
It’s all about emotions over facts & logic and intentions over results. Coincidentally these are time-tested concepts for manipulation of the masses.
But as you’ve pointed out facts are the new hate.
“Gay Marriage” has been part of the progressive agenda to destroy marriage as an institution for heterosexual couples. It is part of the unholy trinity of casual, no-fault divorce, serial cohabitation/procreation out of wedlock as an acceptable lifestyle choice, and gay marriage designed to make the institution irrelevant.
They may have been created or purchased. One thing we can be confident of is that they were not conceived and birthed in a loving relationship.
I am not going to go so far as to say every couple (gay or straight) who has reproductive help is not conceiving a child in a loving relationship, but for the most part you wonder why adoption is not option one before science comes into play. Are there lot of children in the foster system that need adoptive parents.
Her problem isn’t she’s a lesbian but a lesbian bigot who indulges in a larger ideology based on the delusions of supremacist queer theory, which hates the world. I call such people “Nazis without an army,” and thank God for that.
Rosie’s entire career is a fraud built on the success of men with whom she has had the good fortune to associate. That’s why she has to be lesbian. If she were straight, none of us would have heard of her. Deep down, I believe she recognizes that, having no original talent of her own all her success is because of men, and she deeply resents it.
Consider: her very first success as a comedian (by her own admission) was reciting verbatim Jerry Seinfeld bits. She claims she did not know that was wrong, but she enjoyed the applause she got and kept it up.
She got a part in a Tom Hanks movie and did an acceptable job. This success was just enough to keep her working in show business.
She then somehow got a television show, using a format mastered by Johnny Carson, which consisted of her constantly trying to share the spotlight with her guests – when she wasn’t berating them for disagreeing with her political opinions.
Breaking the pattern somewhat, she copies Oprah Winfrey and starts a magazine which failed disastrously.
I could go on, but watching Rosie O’Donnell career arc is painful. There are any number of talented women in show business who would give their right arms for half the success Rosie has achieved. They have my sympathy because despite proving again and again that she is a no-talent hack of no originality, Rosie continues to find high paying work. Why? Because: lesbian!
U-Haul stock is up …
She did not start a magazine. She bought McCall’s and renamed it. IIRC, the whole venture went tits up when she got into some dispute with her business partners or creditors. The last 15 years has not been the time to get into the paper magazine business.
As for her talk show, IIRC, it was a daytime show with a debt to Dinah Shore, perhaps, not Carson (who was a comedian and worked late nights to a general audience, not a housewife audience). Never saw the program, but IIRC her political opinions were not on display until she hosted The View several years after she discontinued her original show.
She was passably well established as an entertainer before her lesbianism was a public matter.
On a global scale, Mexico is not that poor. It’s about average, with a very skewed income distribution and horrendous trouble with crime. There has also been considerable economic liberalization since 1982.
The unbearable lightness of being a fat unhappy lesbian feminist.
They went along with the introduction of no-fault divorce, even though contemporaneous polls showed no public groundswell in favor of liberal divorce laws. The minorities ca. 1970 who saw divorce law as too lax and too strict were about equally sized.
Actually, you can enact just about any public policy you care too as long as you do not raise property taxes, endanger the quality of drinking water, or threaten people’s medical insurance or old age pensions.
But they do have an army, or at least a militia. They also have a government.
And I was under the impression that Rosie’s mental health record isn’t exactly clean: who the hell let her adopt a child???
John Derbyshire noticed that about a dozen years ago. Given the waitlists and impediments to domestic adoption, how did she collect such a set. (He alluded to some similar cases).
Two hypotheses:
1. Political influence (her poof brother sits in the New York state legislature).
2. Corruption of the social work ‘profession’, who are sending homosexual applicants to the head of the line.
AFAIK, there are not very many healthy infants and toddlers (which most prospective adoptive parents want) available for adoption (and very, very few healthy white infants). Granted, I haven’t done any actual research on this, but it’s what I’ve heard and I know of a fair number of prominent people who adopted internationally, which I doubt they would have if they could more easily find a child closer to home.
Also, if a child is conceived by artificial means but is still the biological child of at least one of the parents, then it’s a lot more difficult for it to be taken away.
[…] The Tragedy of Lesbian Divorce […]
Maybe a brown or black baby coloring clashes with gay couple’s color palate.
I’d have to disagree as to her political views on her daytime show.

She’s always been a moobat. She’s merely had more and more difficulty hiding it as her insanity progressed.
I wonder how the kids feel about having Rosie around the house more.
In Rosie’s case being “around the house” has a couple meanings. Yo mama’s so fat she lives in two zip codes. Seriously though, who gets to keep the strap-on in the divorce settlement?
Buying an old magazine and renaming it with all new content and editorial staff vs. starting a new one seems to me to be a distinction without a difference. You aren’t also disputing it was a disaster, are you?
Other than being on during the day, the format was mastered by Carson. When one considers the predominate talk show format one does not immediately think “Dinah Shore”.
You never saw her show yet you are sure about what was on it? I suffered through some viewings and I maintain my observation is accurate.
I don’t know when she officially went public with her lesbianism, but I knew she was a lesbian since at least “A League of Their Own”.
If she did not work so hard to make sure everyone knew she was a member of an anointed group, she would have faded from public view long ago, because she was and is a no-talent unoriginal hack.
3. Money
Yes you never did see the show, or you’d remember her tirades about gun control and other stuff.
Sorry, poor choice of words from me. I meant to imply that plumbing problems preclude the conception of a child as a product of these relationships.
