After years of struggle, the Rainbow Alphabet — LGBT — has been extended to maximum inclusivity at Wesleyan University:

Open House is a safe space for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Flexual, Asexual, Genderf–k, Polyamourous, Bondage/Disciple, Dominance/Submission, Sadism/Masochism (LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM) communities and for people of sexually or gender dissident communities. The goals of Open House include generating interest in a celebration of queer life from the social to the political to the academic. Open House works to create a Wesleyan community that appreciates the variety and vivacity of gender, sex and sexuality.

(Hat-tip: Ryan Anderson on Twitter.) Thus do we continue the descent down the slippery slope that William F. Buckley Jr. first noted in 1951’s God and Man at Yale. In case anyone has forgotten, Buckley’s main point was that Yale had been founded as an explicitly Christian institution and yet, by the middle of the 20th century, harbored many faculty who expounded explicitly anti-Christian doctrines. This lapse into religious heterodoxy, Buckley noted, was accompanied by a tendency to accept or promote philosophical collectivism and hostility toward capitalism. Here we are now, six decades later and Wesleyan University (deriving its name from a famous Christian evangelist) is promoting the very utmost in sexual perversity in all its “variety and vivacity.”

Annual tuition at Wesleyan is $47,972, which is certainly more than the rent of a cheap apartment in San Francisco’s Castro district, where a similar education in LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM might be gained.

  9. Look on the bright side, if all these entities are the new norm, then the straight heterosexual who wants a monogamous relationship with the opposite sex is a minority entitled to full defense under the law and administration system.

    I would surmise, if one is not particularly choosy, one could obtain accommodations in the Castro district for free, albeit on an hourly basis.

    Progressivism is a Christian heresy, emanating roughly from Victorian Methodism, along with more tony versions such as Unitarianism and Transcendentalism. The foundation it rests on is English Puritanism, which holds that only a small, particularly moral elite is fit to rule, and that elite mainly comes from the class of merchants and bankers. That's the "bad cop"- the good cop came first in the form of Quakerism, which holds that some people can tap into the Inner Light and know God's will directly. By some strange coincidence, these people also come from the class of merchants and bankers. A more orthodox form of this came in Methodism, which tells us that morality is not an elite thing, but almost all can be moral under the careful tutelage of ministers and teachers- who are children of the class of merchants and bankers……

    Everything anti-Christian is based on some creative reinterpretation of gospel, in such concepts as love, compassion, tolerance, or forgiveness- all selectively applied to those progressives think are worthy of them. For anybody else, well progressives go all Jonathan Edwards on them……..

  33. That reminds me of a recent controversy at some zoo, where the giraffes were having sex all the time. Some zookeeper thought it wasn’t very family-friendly and separated the males from the females, but there was an outcry from people who thought that wasn’t very fair to the poor animals that didn’t have much else to do, so they put them back together.

    It could be that zoosexuality fell out of favor because of the “mating in captivity” connotations.

    I enjoy TOM because it broadens my knowledge in many areas but I’ve got to learn not to click every link that my fellows post here.
    There are some things better not known.
