Christians Branded ‘Hate Group’ for Opposing LGBT Agenda in Schools

Friday was the national “Day of Silence” promoted by GLSEN, the radical homosexual teachers organization founded in 1990 to promote the gay agenda in public schools. GLSEN has been controversial because the group’s director, Kevin Jennings, was implicated in the infamous 2000 “Fistgate” incident in Massachusetts. Yet it is now opposition to GLSEN that is considered controversial in Colorado:

Jefferson County school board member Julie Williams said late Friday that she was “sincerely sorry” and that she would remove a link on her personal Facebook page that she shared that encouraged families to keep their students home Friday and “away from perverse indoctrination” of the“homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda.”
“To be honest with you, I didn’t read the article,” Williams said. “I just saw it and thought I was sharing information with parents.”
The link, like most on Williams’ wall, was posted without comment. It directs Facebook users to a newsletter published by SaveCalifornia.com, but neither overtly endorses nor condemns the group and its message.
Friday is the national “Day of Silence.” It is organized by GLSEN, an organization that supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender students and teachers in schools. The aim of the protest is to raise awareness about LGBT bullying. Students who participate in the protest attend school but remain silent. Some put tape over their mouths.
SaveCalifornia.com describes itself as a “frontline pro-family leader standing strong for moral virtues for the common good.” But the Southern Poverty Law Center considers the organization a hate group, akin to the white supremacy political party American Freedom Party and Westboro Baptist Church.

That’s right: The SPLC now considers it “hate” for Christians to oppose gay activism aimed at school children. What do we know about SaveCalifornia.com?

Thanks to generous support from everyday people who care, our Campaign for Children and Families is:
– Leading for parental rights by empowering fathers and mothers
– Fighting for the protection of children’s innocence everywhere
– Challenging liberal lies with God’s timeless moral truths
– Boldly speaking out for your values in the culture war
– Teaching and activating pro-family citizens to stand for what’s right
Founded in 1999 by veteran pro-family leader Randy Thomasson, SaveCalifornia.com is dedicated to defending and representing the values of parents, grandparents and concerned citizens who want what’s best for this generation and future generations.
We’re an articulate voice in the media. We expose what’s wrong or right with our government. We urge lawmakers to respect and support family values. And we empower citizens to speak out for their values.

Does this 501(c)3 organization sound like a “hate group” to you? Well, what about their “Day of Silence” message? Thanks to California Catholic Daily, we have the full text of the group’s April 2 email:

If you have children in K-12 government schools, in California or another state, please keep them home and away from perverse indoctrination on Friday, April 19.
That’s the day of the so-called “Day of Silence,” where sexually confused students and teachers refuse to speak during the entire academic day. They’ll indoctrinate everybody else through handouts and chalkboard writings and videos and other propaganda tools. They’ll tell children to support and embrace the unnatural and unhealthy homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda and will say that anyone who’s against it is a “bigot.”
SaveCalifornia.com is leading the West Coast effort to urge parents to remove their children from government schools on Friday, April 19, the nationwide date of the “Day of Silence.”
Yet because the pro-homosexual-bisexual-transsexual “silence” could be permitted anytime April 15-19, SaveCalifornia.com is advising you to contact the school to ask if “silence” will be allowed on any date. No matter what, please keep your children home on April 19, to express your strong disapproval of the pro-perversity state school bureaucracy.
On Friday April 19, 2013 the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network is once again exploiting public schools to promote homosexuality and gender confusion as moral and normative through the political protest called the Day of Silence.
A coalition of pro-family groups is urging parents to keep their children home from school on the “Day of Silence,” if your school is allowing students to refuse to speak in class.

Is it “hate” to say that in 2015? Read it again. Do you suddenly feel inspired to go out and bully homosexuals?

The Speech Police are also the Thought Police. What we are witnessing is an effort to tell people what to think by controlling what they are allowed to say. Whether or not you agree with SaveCalifornia.com, is it incorrect to say that GLSEN’s agenda is “to promote homosexuality and gender confusion as moral and normative”? Are those who consider this to be immoral and abnormal not permitted to express their opposition? Is Romans 1:18-32 now to be forbidden as “hate” speech?

No responsible parent would send their children to American public schools, which have become a menace to our nation’s liberty.

“Truth is great and will prevail if left to herself . . . she is the proper and sufficient antagonist to error, and has nothing to fear from the conflict, unless by human interposition disarmed of her natural weapons, free argument and debate, errors ceasing to be dangerous when it is permitted freely to contradict them.”
— Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, 1786

Public schools are Ignorance Factories, operated by corrupt government bureaucrats who cannot be trusted to teach children facts or useful skills. The K-12 Implosion approaches, as does the Apocalypse.

  1. I dunno. I’m about all gayed out. It’s getting old. THEY’RE getting old. And every ‘gain’ made is revealed to be for a smaller and smaller portion of the population, but reinforced by an army of useful idiots.

  2. More specifically, it’s a Liberal Supremacist organization. It uses libel to promote fear and thereby raise money. It’s probably vulnerable to RICO prosecution.

  3. In LiberalSpeak, “hate” equals “truths which conflicts with liberal mythology.” Saying 2+2=4 would be “hate” to these mushbrains.

  4. Item from the link about GLSEN’s “fistgate”:

It might make the parent feel good and give a false sense of
security that all is okay under his roof. But what about GLSEN’s
“Integrated Curriculum Plan?” How does a parent remove his child from
math, science, English, social studies, and foreign languages when
teachers have been taught to plant little contaminated seeds into the
fertilized ground of the usual daily lessons?

Gee, that sounds like the feminists’ strategy of not just having Womens’
Studies courses, but of spreading their poison throughout all of the
    college departments–doesn’t it?

  5. Haha you can’t do anything about it. Not everyone is a Christian so not everyone has to subscribe to these backwards and archaic beliefs. If your kids aren’t gay or trans then they won’t grow up to be gay or trans. Allowing gay and trans individuals to stand up and say proudly that they will not accept bullying and they will not accept oppression is the right thing to do. To try to stop people from freeing themselves from oppression is an act of hate. Also you all sound pretty hateful right now. Clearly God isn’t real but if he were I think he would find your unwavering desire to force people into silence reprehensible and very un-Christian.

  6. Your argument is specious. Why bother to even have school that day if the teacher isn’t going to lecture, or ask or answer questions? Why does an entire day in school have to be spent focusing on sex acts? Why is allowing Christian individuals to stand up and say proudly that they will not accept bullying and they will not accept oppression not likewise the right thing to do? Why fo you think that disagreement constitutes bullying and oppression?

  7. God is real. He reveals himself and his will through his Word. You want to know his will read his word he he plainly reveals it. Scoffers will scoff yet it changes nothing. People who do evil deeds hate the Light as it shows their evil deeds.

  8. Not everyone is a Christian so not everyone has to subscribe to these backwards and archaic beliefs.

But Christians have to subscribe to the beliefs of the anal-sex lovers?

If your kids aren’t gay or trans then they won’t grow up to be gay or trans.

A statement based on nothing. The “born that way” argument is a myth needed for political ends.

    Clearly God isn’t real…

I don’t think you understand the word “clearly.”

And, lastly, don’t tell us what is “un-Christian.” Christ said, “Go and sin no more.”

  9. No God. Never was. We made the whole thing up to control the masses. The entire anti LGBT agenda is based on fiction.

  10. Yes, hate is a religious freedom. That makes way more sense! Better to discriminate against live human beings for the sake of the sky god.

  11. If Darwin is your God and Darwinism your religion then you would be correct. Neither stand up to scripture or honest scientific evaluation.

  12. Today’s word-meme is “hate”. Hate in the liberal context is an opinion that opposes the current agenda. In reality, it is the expression of an opposing opinion that is effective, so it must be nullified using the most hyperbolic language possible.

Since opinions are rooted in personal morality, when my opinion is considered to be “hate”, the real objection is to my moral values.

Of all people, a group of lawyers should know that the First Amendment protects the expression of opinion and moral values. The First Amendment forbids government from making any law that prohibits my expression of my opinion. That is why it is legal to burn a US flag. That is why the Supreme Court ruled 1977 , that the National Socialist Party of America had the right to march in the predominately Jewish village of Skokie, Illinois.

But the lawyers of the SPLC know this. In fact in a different context, they will scold the rest of us on the topic of “tolerance”. Last year, on November 2nd, to be exact, their Senior Manager of Teaching and Learning for Teaching Tolerance , Sara Wicht did just that at a “Family Storytelling Program” at the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center in Skokie.

But what liberals are for or against is not about the true meaning of words, but is always about their agenda of the moment. In the case of Ms. Wicht in Sloke, it was about a sophisticated way of scolding Jews about their natural reaction to people who truly hate them. In the case of SaveCalifornia.com it is a way of trying to marginalize people who have well-founded moral objections to homosexual advocacy in public schools. Each activity being wrapped in an air of moral superiority.

  13. *obligatory downtwinkles*
You are entirely incorrect. The anti LGBT agenda is based on the LGBT agenda. Hello, anti-agenda, why does that exceed you’re comprehension skills?

  14. Of course it is. For example, when I get married, I plan to discriminate against other women by only having sex with my wife. When I have children, I plan to discriminate against everybody else’s children by not letting them live in my own house and working to buy money to feed them. And so on.

  15. Most people I know send their kids to public schools because they say they can’t afford private — meanwhile Mom stays home (yet no homeschool) or mom stays home all kids are in school so mom could get a PT job or one or both parents work and they can’t afford private school but they can afford season tickets to NHL, NFL for the family, multiple travel sports teams at thousands of dollars a year, vacation homes, brand new expensive cars the latest I gadgets etc. — I’m not saying that everyone has a choice on public schools but there are lots of families that could well afford to homeschool or do private school but they don’t really care enough to spend the money…

  16. No, it means God as a concept and symbol of moral law is dead. It doesn’t mean there was ever an actual “God”.

  17. “Why does an entire day in school have to be spent focusing on sex acts?”

Indeed. And why does an entire day in school have to be focusing on torture and genocide. We shouldn’t teach kids about the holocaust. And why an entire day on slavery and killing? We shouldn’t teach kids about the American Civil War. And why a celebration of violence? We shouldn’t teach kids about the American Revolution or Independence Day. And why an entire day focusing on sex acts? We should eliminate sex education and just deal with the increase in STDs and teen pregnancy that always results from reduced sex-ed.

Oh, and why are anti-gay Christians always so focused on sex? You think the day of silence is a day focusing on sex acts? Get your mind out of the gutter. It is no such thing and you know it. Your rhetorical dehumanizing is not only pathetic, it’s disgusting and wrong.

Brutalizing gay people, which the day of silence is meant to bring to light, is not a sex act. Verbally attacking gay people, which the day of silence is meant to bring to light, is not a sex act. The long history of systemic and institutionalized homophobia that young gay people struggle against, which the day of silence is meant to bring to light, is not a sex act. The increased rate of suicide among young gay people due to the brutalizing, verbal attacking, and dehumanizing comments made by homophobic people like yourself, which the day of silence is meant to bring to light, is not a sex act.

  18. Well said, but unfortunately your words are lost on those who continue to use religion, and biblical verse as a smoke screen for their petty hatreds.

  19. Liberal Supremacist! bwaaaahaaaa! I’ve heard some paranoid right wing victim bullshit before, but that takes the cake. And the pie, too!

  20. “But Christians have to subscribe to the beliefs of the anal-sex lovers?”

Nope. The Day of Silence doesn’t purport to do anything of the sort. Just like you don’t have to be a Jewish person to learn about the Holocaust, you don’t have to “subscribe to the beliefs of the anal-sex lovers” to learn about the prejudice and discrimination that young gay people face every day.

‘A statement based on nothing. The “born that way” argument is a myth needed for political ends.’

Actually, it’s based on a large and growing body of scientific data that tells us that being gay is neither a choice, nor can it be changed by any method, physical or psychological, that we have yet devised and tested (and there are hundreds of examples tried on hundreds of thousands of patients who want to change and could not).

Regardless, it is not at all needed “for political ends.” Even if being gay was a choice, it would be wrong to treat gay people with prejudice and discrimination, just like being Christian is a choice and it is wrong to treat Christians with prejudice and discrimination. “It’s a choice” is a red herring dreamed up by conservative Christians for political ends, not the other way around.
