Rapists Everywhere (1-in-5)

St. Mary’s College of California is a private school where annual tuition is $41,380, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Of the 3,055 students who attend Saint Mary’s, 41% are male and 59% are female. As an exercise in understanding the “campus rape epidemic” that feminists assure us is a nationwide scourge, let’s apply the notorious 1-in-5 statistic to Saint Mary’s.

By my calculation (59% of 3,055) there are 1,802 females enrolled at Saint Mary’s. The 1-in-5 number means that 20% of these (360) will have been raped by a fellow student before they graduate. This in turn would mean that, if we suppose that about a quarter of the female students graduate each year, then there are approximately 450 females in the senior class, of whom 90 are rape victims.

Could this be true? Well, in September 2011, police investigated two separate rapes reported by Saint Mary’s students in the span of two weeks. The college’s Student Coalition Against Rape (“a peer education and outreach team that is dedicated to ending gender based violence”) clearly have their work cut out for them, battling the pro-rape coalition on campus. Women students at Saint Mary’s who are victimized by male student predators can call a 24-hour Campus Assault Resources and Empowerment (CARE) telephone hotline.

About 10 victims a month or two a week during a nine-month school year because, of course: 1-in-5.

It seems shocking that parents would spend more than $40,000 a year to send their daughters to a place where rape is so common. However, I guess the parents who spend more than $40,000 a year to send their sons to Saint Mary’s must figure that’s just one of the benefits provided by this Catholic private school.

SAINT MARY’S COLLEGE
Raping Your Daughters Since 1863

  1. I would note, my daughter attended a regional state liberal arts university approximately twice the size of St. Mary’s in a similarly sized town, though the town much less well off from a socio-economic perspective. It’s student body is also 60% female and the student population is approximately 1/3 of the entire college town. Their U.S. News ranking is better than St. Mary’s.

Total reported rapes during my daughter’s four years of college in the town:

    ZERO.

In state tuition: One-sixth of St. Mary’s.

Motto: Saving you money and your daughters’ virtue since 1867.

  2. The 1-in-5 number, just thrown out there as a statistic, has a way of floating around. Apply it to any particular campus and DO THE MATH, however, and 1-in-5 ceases to defy gravity.

  3. The violent crime (including rape) stats for every metro area are available with a minimum amount of Google-fu. One would think that an intrepid journalist or two might have availed himself/herself of such a resource in order to check the veracity of the “1 in 5” statistic in college towns.

  4. I’m reading Coulter’s new book now, which seems to indicate a possible relationship between many cases of rape, especially gang rape and incest, and…um…male individuals of non-European ancestry. Indeed, she states outright that Anglo-American boys are not committing the alleged 1-in-5 plethora of college rapes, except in the wet dreams of liberals (well, maybe she doesn’t phrase it exactly like that, but close enough), and making some pretty funny references to Duke lacrosse players and the Times.

  5. Rape culture, climate change, black lives matter, 45 million uninsured, all “fake but accurate” propaganda. Why does the left resort to lies all the time? If they were limited to truth then they’d have nithing to say.

  6. As feminists know, the heteropatriarchy normalizes rape, and Woody is clearly not down with that program. Therefore, he’s gay. #logic

  7. No, no, no, no, no! You are trying to conflate the number of rapes with the number of reported rapes, which we all know is a minuscule percentage due to Teh Evil Patriarchy!

You can’t use math, because math is a male invention.

  8. And statistics say 50 men will rape those 360. So all they have to do is find those 50 guys and kill them.

  9. Despite their victim-blaming stuff, I feel certain it’s only a matter of time before feminists go after liquor stores and bars. Why leave any stone unturned when you’re nuts? Dry campus, breath tests – maybe monitoring by phone. Alcohol sniffing dogs.

  10. ‘Cept that the lovely Amanda Marcotte would say that doing such Blames Teh Victims, because they also frequented the bars.

So, if you ban only men from drinking, then the women become even more vulnerable, ’cause the men are not physically degraded by alcohol; if you ban women from drinking, then you’ve Blamed Teh Victims. And if you ban everyone, you are infantilizing these Proud Adult Women.

Mandatory homosexuality for men is the only possible solution.

  11. Marginally on-topic reply: In the college town where my daughter went to school, sororities, but not fraternities, must live in the dorms. The reason for this is an archaic mid nineteenth century ordinance in the town which states that any private structure housing more the four unmarried females is presumed to be a house of prostitution, and therefore prohibited.

  12. Eh, if all of the ladies are of the same vintage as the lovely Mrs. Marcotte, homosexuality doesn’t seem such a bad alternative. At least you’ll never have to worry about the other person not wanting to watch Steven Seagal movies with you.

  13. But how can we know which 50? And what about a gang-rape like at UVA? Perhaps it’s best if we just kill all the men (well, the ones with penises (penii?) anyway), Gaia will know her own.

  14. You were extraordinary kind to her as she was hostile aggressive and just plain nasty to you.

  15. It’s easy to be kind to your opponent, when you know you’ve got him beaten down that thoroughly.

Besides, it pisses them off even more! 🙂

  16. These days, men go to college with at least the hope of finding some compliant young ladies with whom to copulate, and most do, but the ones who foul up, really foul up.

I was lucky: found a great girl fairly soon, and stuck with her all the way through college. A lot of looking-for-women stupidity was avoided.

  17. The 1-in-5 number might have more to do with the numbers of female students academically under performing, than those actually sexually assaulted. Google “Title 9 Accommodations Sexual Assault Victims” and you might get an idea of what I am getting at. The other day that post about the mentally ill alcoholic coed and the link to the Huffington Post article showed a certain pattern. Academic performance issues surface>report is made of a prior sexual assault which is causing academic under performance>mandated accommodations requested. Note that “crazy coed’s” lawsuit against the university appears to be about a perceived lack of accommodations – University obviously sees other issues than 2 or 3 drug/alcohol induced sexual encounters.

  18. You know I have no problem with folks disagreeing and even some name calling, but the vile hostile lies always piss me off

  19. They way you’ll tell if they need killing is look at their browser history. If it has WND, TOM, NRO, or other reactionary websites, then they’ll know what to do.

  20. He was already going more to the left he banned Lawrence shortly after publishing that article

  21. “Mandatory homosexuality for men is the only possible solution.”

When you read other feminist denunciations of male sexuality, you realize that “mandatory homosexuality for men” is probably one of their more modest proposals.

Male feminist Robert Jensen felt it necessary to convert to homosexuality supposedly to avoid committing patriarchal oppression. However, that was not enough for him, because homosexual sex was apparently contaminated by patriarchal values and still perpetuated gendered oppression. He declared that because he was a “penised person,” that any kind of sexual stimulation constituted patriarchal oppression. So he set out to be both celibate and impotent.

John Stoltenberg also argued that men must not only avoid pornography, but that they must not even masturbate or sexually fantasize about women (even if the fantasies are about consensual encounters). Because fantasizing and masturbating to the thought of women also constitutes violation and objectification.

  22. “and…um…male individuals of non-European ancestry”

That reminds me of the charming situation in Europe:

Here in Oslo, hear my daughter
Fa la la la la la la la la
Hide your hair, or they get hotter
Fa la la la la la la la la
When they rape you, don’t object
    For that is politically incorrect

  23. Perhaps the discrepancy between
the stats for campuses and the
    metro areas surrounding them can
be explained by the fact that
    college campuses are populated
by a disproportionately large number of leftists compared to the
    general population. The metro
area has a lower incidence of
rapes because it contains a lower
    percentage of leftists. Leftists
    need to stop raping women!

  24. I’ve read that article, and have shamelessly quoted from it, copiously. And am then called racist for stating acknowleded facts. Evidently to liberals, the problem is not the crimes, nor the facts, but rather, someone noticing. And what’s more, the fact that anybody would listen to a single word spewing from Al Sharpton’s piehole only underscores the fact that we actually do live in downtown Psychoville.

  25. I know I get called a racist all the time. I post about out of control Black criminally, these pots are FACTUAL but simply posting the truth is hateful these days.

  26. Yeah. That’s about when I quit reading there regularly. I used to check to see if Dershowitz was posted and I’d put a copy of an article by a Cali prof dinging Dershowitz for his lying and plagiarism. Publishing Dershowitz was enough for me to quit him, but banning Auster was the final step.
