You Want To Whine About Being Offended?
Here, Let Me Give You Something To Whine About

— by Wombat-socho

Apropos of Stacy’s post on the attempt to shove the Confederate flag down the memory hole, Michael Z. Williamson and his friends have some suggestions for a replacement flag guaranteed to offend just about everybody, but especially the members of the pro-slavery, pro-segregation Democratic party.

Also, some clever fellow has introduced a petition to strip former Senator and Klansman Robert Byrd’s name from everything.

If you want to actually buy a Confederate flag, if for no better reason than Amazon, Wal-Mart, Mitt Romney and other bien pensants think you shouldn’t have one, Cooter (Ben Jones) can fix you up. Or you can examine the fine selection at the Ruffin Flag Company of Georgia.

On the other hand, Comrade, if you prefer Officially Approved Symbols, Amazon can fix you up with merchandise commemorating that great (National) Socialist regime led by Chancellor Hitler. Meanwhile, Walmart can fix you up with iconography of that racist murdererrevolutionary hero Che Guevara!

Mychal Massie has an opinion on the subject, and so does Zo Rachel. Also also, Allen West has some surprising news regarding the slain Charleston pastor’s opinion of the flag.

Apologies for the lack of linkagery this morning, but I spent most of the morning and afternoon at the VA here in Las Vegas dealing with some unexpected bleeding. All’s well, and things should be back to normal tomorrow.

  1. Imagine that! Why, if we did that, we might have rule of law, and libtards and other Nazis can’t have that.

  2. Liberal loon Don Lemon calls for the removal of the Jefferson Memorial/ becuase it is racist!

I’m begining to think I’ve steped into an altermative reality and either I am living in a Montry Python skit or a very bad SciFi movie

  3. Add in the stupidity just announced by SCOTUS on state exchanges and we have the funeral of the rule of law. The left is getting what they want, but they won’t like the end result.

  4. “Unexpected bleeding” Rule one: When you cut yourself, expect bleeding.
Hope it’s nothing serious. It does seem to coincide with my three reasons a guy decides to go to the hospital.
    1) Uncontrolled bleeding
    2) bones protruding through the skin (may be accompanied by #1)
    3) Unable to achieve consciousness
(Actually #3 is a call your buddies have to make for you, so technically, there are only two reasons)

  5. Stogie: Everyone’s an ignoramus if they don’t agree with the radical libertarian revisionist history of the South? And Gene Kizer? Well, now I have something else to read, now that I’ve smacked down that fever-swamp Neo-Confederate ideologue Livingston.

  6. Donald, you didn’t smack down anything. I whipped your ass in that debate and we both know it. You said absolutely nothing of any substance to refute the premise of the debate: that The Civil War Was Not About Slavery. Instead, you went into great dissertations of side issues, insulted the author and me with childish name-calling, and threw around a lot of accusations that you did not support with specifics or examples. Your whole effort was one giant red herring to avoid the issue. Yes, do read Gene Kizer’s book, you won’t be able to refute that either.

  7. And I enjoy your arguments. They have…what are those things called again?…hang on, I’ll remember…OH YEAH!…facts behind them. πŸ˜€

  8. That comment on the Sacred Cow Slaughterhouse site concerning the FB ban imposed on the guy who posted the pre-WWII 45th Division patch cracked me up. Especially since the yellow swastika on the red background was a Native American good-luck symbol. (There were lots of Southwest Native-Americans in the 45th Division in those days.) The only reason the Army told General Tuthill to change the insignia was because they knew the patch would be ill-regarded by ignorant locals and allies if the 45th Division was sent to Europe. Must not be very many well-informed military history folks on FB.

  9. You do realize that for millions of African Americans the flag is a symbol of pain, or do you just not care?

The Confederate Battle Flag is a symbol of pain only to those who choose to make it a symbol of pain on behalf of themselves or their cause.

The flag is an inanimate object and is incapable of causing anything. Anything felt because of this flag whether it be a feeling of oppression or a feeling of supremacy is totally in the mind of the individual. Were they raised to feel oppressed or supreme? Were they brainwashed by leftist or right-wing knuckleheads? I don’t know.
What I do know is that human beings have brains and unless those brains are defective people can make their own choices in life.
For many on the left their tribal mentality produces a convenient skirt for them to hide behind while shouting from the crowd “We demand…” We’ve been…” We want…”
Incessant victimhood. Always someone else’s fault their failure’s are.

It’s very convenient indeed for one to stand anonymously screaming about things that will give one a greater sense of self-worth. It seems to many on the left to be a hell of a lot more convenient than getting to work and doing something constructive with their live’s.

I know I’m not unique in saying that I’ve never owned a slave I’ve never held someone down or denigrated them because of their skin color or other self-appointed victim status and I sure as hell am not going to feel guilty or be bullied into paying for something that I personally had no part in just because I was born white. I.Didn’t. Do. It.

  10. Apparently you’re registered with disqus. There should be an edit button you can click.

  11. I’m an old white guy too, and I want to dictate how many of them die. I’m not in much of a mood to suffer the existence of the current crop of amateur leftists.

  12. Don’t come to my house! EVER!

It’s 1970s all day every day. With my wife playing Barry Manilow and me playing Emerson, Lake & Palmer, we’d have to shoot you with a tranquilizer dart within five minutes.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go sit down in front of the tube for some “Quincy” reruns.

  13. You don’t recognize the Left’s description of the South, because they’ve never been to the South. They pontificate, but they rarely investigate. They don’t care to know the truth because their only objective is to demonize the people who fail to vote Democrat.

  14. Technology-wise, Apple is better than Microsoft, mostly due to them going to Unix for Mac OS X. Administering Microsoft products is pretty much always a situation somewhere between a nightmare and a clusterfuck.

Socially, Apple is horrible and Microsoft is mostly neutral, so the Borg win there.

  15. Oh, I see, slavery, segregation, and racist klan violence is a purely subjective call, and the flag really is just a flag! Well, ok, then Dr. Freud! It’s a subjective call for you, and mainly because you’re looking for ways to defend something that really is indefensible. And could you have overly intellectualized your argument anymore, and stripped just about every last bit of emotion, and empathy associated with this? This is not about how abstractions, it’s how the flag makes millions of blacks feel, and that’s intimidated, and oppressed, and constantly reminded of their own collective historical past. If you can’t either see that, or empathize with it, youre either stone cold, or just a racist.

  16. Bwhahaha!

Stogie again claiming victory, this time by taking my criticisms of Livingston and turning around against me!

    Not very original, Stogie.

You’ve prevaricated and danced around the main points I’ve raised, and defended Livingston’s rank dishonesty, especially on Lincoln’s own comments, which he totally decontextualized!

I thought Southerners were supposed to be folks with honor?!! I guess not. Sad.

  17. “but especially the members of the pro-slavery, pro-segregation Democratic party.”

People who voted for that “pro-slavery, pro-segregation” Democratic Party overwhelmingly switched to the Republican Party in presidential elections post-1964, AKA, they weren’t leftists. Given how often Boehner & co. are dissed as “progressives” on blogs like this you think people’d retire this meme already, as though the views of George Wallace have any relevance to the ideology of the modern-day Democratic Party.

  18. As far as Robert Byrd, I know it’s just dishing it back out to Democrats, but Republicans have Strom Thurmond so it’s pretty much a wash. You could probably argue about who was more racist or whatnot but who cares.

If you wanna make a tortured argument about, I don’t know, Obamacare being modern slavery than OK, but the “Democrats=Jim Crow” logic is just idiotic when all the Democrats in question were at the very least cultural conservatives. It’s not like all the Wallace votes in 1968 went to George McGovern in 1972.

  19. That’s a myth.

    From Kevin Williamson:

The South had been in effect a Third World country within the United States, and that changed with the post-war economic boom. As Clay Risen put it in the New York Times: β€œThe South transformed itself from a backward region to an engine of the national economy, giving rise to a sizable new wealthy suburban class. This class, not surprisingly, began to vote for the party that best represented its economic interests: the GOP. Working-class whites, however β€” and here’s the surprise β€” even those in areas with large black populations, stayed loyal to the Democrats. This was true until the 90s, when the nation as a whole turned rightward in Congressional voting.” The mythmakers would have you believe that it was the opposite: that your white-hooded hillbilly trailer-dwelling tornado-bait voters jumped ship because LBJ signed a civil-rights bill (passed on the strength of disproportionately Republican support in Congress). The facts suggest otherwise.

  20. The idea that the New Left, which one could argue started with McGovern in 72′, are the same as Dixiecrat segregationists is absurd, but seems to be Republican’s go to defense whenever accusations of racism start flying. The argument always seems to tie them in knots though, and is ridiculous on the surface when you consider that members of the original civil rights movement that marched with MLK at Selma are part of the Democratic party. Unfortunately that makes no difference to them either, and they use some tortured logic along the lines of “they’re the new plantation owners”.

  21. I’m not surprised the National Review would make that defense, but truth is white southerners started deserting the Democratic Party after the passage of the Civil Rights Act with even the KKK endorsing Barry Goldwater. Nixon picked off some more in 72′ with the Southern Strategy, and Reagan even more in 80, and 84 with Lee Atwater running the campaign.

  22. I’m not surprised either. But, it is on the whole, quite true. The stampede did not begin until after affirmative discrimination took hold and people saw what the left was doing to the country. The Dims in the south were pretty much conservative socially, but that ended in the 70s with the national party taking a sharp turn to the insane left.

  23. Depends on how good it is. I’ve gotten some range out some of mine. I had to come up with mine in the throws of that ancient and honorable combat between Seamen and Chiefs. Ask Smitty, he can tell you about such things.
I also had some training as a kid since my father was a USAF Master Sergeant. He was an extremely critical reviewer of my excuses and I had to learn well.

  24. As the old Sarge pointed out, that flag is a pain to those who make it that way. Those millions have been miseducated, not poorly educated, miseducated and propagandized to see things in a certain way by their plantation owners in the DimoKKKrap Party.
You’re an idiot and a racist.
