Friday Fiction: 100 Word Challenge

Dawn broke, and he had to admit the spires of the city were lovely. Flying cars shuttled the rich to their jobs, where they would unplug from the car and jack into the grid that ran the economy across the solar system.

The weekend loomed, and they would show up at his farm, nerves wracked by the information firehose applying pressure across their augmented senses. He’d grind beans, crack eggs, grate cheese, slice ham, spread butter, and serve a simple breakfast to them before their stress overcame their superior health care.
He breathed deeply of the new day, pitying them.

    A really good short!
Only one question, and please forgive my ignorance!
    Why grind beans?

I know that falafel one has to specially prepare beans. I dearly love falafel– though not as a hamburger “replacement”, I’m an omnivore (w/a carnivorous bias ::chuckle:: )

I know that one can make/use “bean flour”. Grampa Grumpus bought it in twenty-five pound sacks for the bakery, b/c some of his bread recipies required it.

I love to try foods new to me! Am I missing out on something tasty?

I took the “beans” to be of the coffee variety (coffee “beans” are technically not legumes), but as you can guess I am a proponent of veggie burgers.

    EBL,
    Opps!
    A heart-felt “thank you” to you, Ma’am!

I’m LDS, and we don’t evrn have coffeein the house.
It’s funny, but coffee never entered my mind!

    I feel very foolish, indeed!

Yeah, but we saw your herbal tea stash, mister!
    And yes, coffee beans.

Mormon tea is a hell of a drug. 🙂

    No need to feel foolish…

As you can guess, no beef in my fridge! I fully understand.
