One of the more endearing characters in the manga Komi Can’t Communicate is the tongue-tied title character’s mom, Shuuko, who is (almost) everything her daughter isn’t: chatty, flirtatious, and a rebellious teen who somehow gets her heart captured by Shouko’s strong (but very silent) dad Masayoshi. On the other hand, like her daughter, she’s pretty cute, and fan art of the “Forever 17!” mom on r/Komi-san usually inspires the comment section to break out into a slightly modified version of the famous Fountains of Wayne song.
