Former Playmate Sentenced to Prison for Shooting Her Husband and Starring in ‘When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth’

Mainly it was shooting her husband:

Former Playboy Playmate Victoria Rathgeb has been sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading no contest to the involuntary manslaughter of her husband, RadarOnline.com has learned.
The 66-year-old ex-glamour model admitted that she shot her husband of 25 years, Bruce Rathgeb, in the back at their West Hollywood apartment in October 2010 and caused him great bodily harm.
In exchange for her guilty plea, Judge Barbara R. Johnson of the Los Angeles Superior Court dropped the charge of attempted murder against Rathgeb, and sentenced her on Wednesday to nine years and ordered her to pay $70,000 to the state victim restitution fund.

That’s from Radar Online, which has a court photo of the Playmate-turned-perp, in case you’re curious what a “66-year-old ex-glamour model” looks like, 44 years after she was “Miss September.”

UPDATE: Clarifying some confusion amongst commenters. The charge was attempted involuntary manslaughter, as the rest of the article makes clear:

The couple were both high on methamphetamine and had been drinking at the time of the incident. Bruce Rathgeb, who has since recovered from his injuries, was present in court but he did not comment on the verdict.

Also, was “Invasion of the Bee Girls” a worse movie than “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth”? It’s probably a coin toss. The fact that Victoria Rathgeb (a/k/a Victoria Ventri, a/k/a Angela Dorian) appeared in both of those wretched movies ought to have earned her at least 20 years in prison.

  1. She appeared in what Star Trek episode? Because otherwise, I’ve no clue who she might be.

Jeff – really? There was a movie called “Invasion of the Bee Girls”? Really? You’re not taking advantage of my ignorance of pop culture?

  2. Oh. And this just proves that women get off easy when they commit crime.

No way would a man get this lenient a sentence for shooting his wife in the back. And killing her.

I know it was a plea bargain but I’ll guarantee a man would have been looking at 15-20 for the same plea and be glad to get it.

  3. He lived. Otherwise, he couldn’t have testified.

And she doesn’t look that bad, really. I hope my hair would behave that well at (approximately) 64, in jail, where I don’t imagine the hair care products are exactly top of the line.

  4. Oh, dear. I followed the link. Yup, there was a movie called “Invasion of the Bee Girls”.

    The synopsis?

“A powerful cosmic force is turning Earth women into queen bees who kill men by wearing them out sexually.”

I read “Golem 2000”. I don’t really think I want to know any more.

  5. She played a cat that showed its human looking self for about four seconds. That was the Star Trek episode, but I don’t remember the name of it. I do know it was a projected pilot for a series that didn’t pan out. It was a time travel story, and her human master/spy was named Gary Seven.

  6. Well, maybe 9 years in prison for each movie, for a total of 18 years.

But not 20.  Please!  Show some mercy.

  7. I think all of you are being terribly unfair after she went sixty something years before trying to kill somebody, maybe he went on a road trip without telling her.

  8. I didn’t read the whole article and Stacy hadn’t put in the update that it was attempted.

Still, how’s that change what my main point is?
