Death by “social justice” on the Fourth of July:

A woman hit by a car while she and others were blocking a highway in Seattle died, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Harborview Medical Center told news outlets that Summer Taylor, a 24-year-old local, died late Saturday. The Washington State Patrol confirmed the death.
Taylor was one of two women hit by a man driving a white Jaguar around 1:36 a.m. on July 4.
Police had closed down a portion of the highway, I-5, just before midnight on Friday. Seattle police said in a report that the driver, 27-year-old Dawit Kelete, entered on an exit ramp before turning onto the highway to go in the correct direction.
The driver was approaching vehicles that were parked across the highway by protesters to block it when he “made a sharp left turn entering the right lane and struck two pedestrians,” police wrote.
Video footage showed the impact flinging the two women into the air. Photographs of the Jaguar showed damage consistent with a crash, Washington State Patrol Capt. Ron Mead told reporters at a press conference near the scene of the incident.
The other protester hit was identified as Diaz Love, 32. She remains hospitalized in serious condition. Love was filming the protest in a video broadcast on Facebook Live that showed a group of a few dozen milling about on the highway. Just before the video ended, people began shouting “car.” The impact of the car striking the women can be heard as the broadcast ends.
Both she and and Taylor suffered broken bones and lacerations from the impact, according to the police report.
Kelete was taken into custody after passing sobriety tests. He was described as reserved and sullen. At one point, he asked if the two people that were hit were okay.
Kelete was booked on vehicular assault charges, according to jail records. Bail was denied. It wasn’t clear if the man had an attorney.
Protesters blocked I-5 for 18 straight days leading up to July 4, law enforcement officials said. Mead told the reporters that blocking the highway is illegal and a criminal act.
“We’ve said since May 30th, the freeway is not a safe place for pedestrians to be. Whether they’re protesters, whether they’re homeless, whether they’re broken down motorists, the freeway is simply not a safe place for pedestrians,” he said.
The state patrol said later Saturday that officers would arrest any protesters who tried to enter I-5.
According to Love’s social media accounts, she participated in other protests blocking the freeway in recent days. The Black Lives Matter supporter was recently at the so-called autonomous zone that protesters created in Seattle.

The dead woman was a militant #BlackLivesMatter supporter and also identified as “non-binary.” The driver of the car was a black man, apparently an immigrant from Ethiopia.

So . . . white women blocking a freeway to protest on behalf of #BlackLivesMatter were hit by a black man driving a white Jaguar.

Karma is not only a bitch, she also has a well-developed sense of irony.

 

War in Antifastan: Has Violence in CHOP Zone Become Too Much for Seattle?

A 16-year-old boy has died and a 14-year-old boy has been hospitalized in critical condition Monday following the latest shooting at the Seattle area known as the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, or CHOP, police revealed.
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said it marked the second death of an African-American victim in the area. The first death associated with the CHOP came June 20 when 19-year-old Horace Lorenzo Anderson was shot and killed.
Monday marked the fourth shooting linked to the CHOP zone.
“It’s very unfortunate that we have another murder in this area identified as the CHOP,” Best said Monday. She elaborated that they were African-American victims “at a place where they claim to be working for Black Lives Matter but they’re gone. They’re dead now. And, we’ve had multiple other incidents — assaults, rapes, robbery, shootings — so this is something that’s going to need to change.”
Officials initially said the victims of the latest shooting were “men” before clarifying their ages.
Best said multiple 911 callers reported that two males had been shot in a vehicle on 12th Avenue between Pike and Pine early Monday morning, but by the time officers arrived at the scene both were gone. . . .
Best said investigators “found a white Jeep Cherokee riddled with bullet holes on 12th Avenue between Pike and Pine,” KOMO reported.

Victims of the urban terrorist regime demand a military response:

[T]he father of another teenager shot and killed there last week says the CHOP zone must go.
Tensions rose when the victim’s father spoke out because he is saying things the people here do not want to hear.
But now two teenagers, both black, have been killed here. And at least three others have been wounded.
“I ain’t been sleeping,. You see my eyes. I’ve been crying. I’m trying not to cry on TV.”
Horace Lorenzo Anderson stood in the embrace of Andre Taylor, a leader in the local anti-police violence movement.
Anderson was there to shine a light on the murder of his 19-year-old son and namesake, who was shot and killed inside the CHOP zone last weekend.
He says the zone should go.
“This doesn’t look like a protest to me no more,” said Anderson. “That just looks like they just took over and said we can take over whenever we want to.” . . .
Anderson thinks the National Guard should be asked to return.
“They should deployed them here to say ‘Man, it’s time to go,'” said Anderson. ” ‘It’s time to move on. And break this up.’ ”
The protesters say their goal is justice.
“But justice is not happening here,” said Taylor. “Violence is happening here.”

Why is it that our troops can be sent to Afghanistan to fight terrorists, but we cannot fight these terrorists in Seattle? But it appears that the feckless Mayor Jenny has finally had enough of Antifistan:

Crews with the City of Seattle began removing barricades around the “Capitol Hill Organized Protest” (CHOP) zone Tuesday morning. The barricades were removed at 10th and Pine.
Seattle Parks and Recreation signs were posted around Cal Anderson Park that said the park would temporarily close Tuesday at noon. It is unclear when the signs were posted.
Seattle officials previously said barriers around CHOP would be dismantled Sunday, but the protest zone remained intact through Monday.

If you want terrorists to take over your community, just elect Democrats.




 

Crazy People Are Dangerous

Protesters in St. Louis are angry because . . . Well, does it really matter why they’re angry? They’re protesters. Being angry is sort of a prerequisite for being a protester. “Defund the police” is their demand, because the protesters are Democrats and Democrats hate police.

The mayor of St. Louis is a Democrat named Lyda Krewson, who apparently didn’t get the memo. She doesn’t hate police enough:

In a public briefing broadcast live on Facebook on June 26, 2020, Krewson read aloud the names and addresses of multiple constituents, including a minor, who had signed a petition in favour of budgetary changes which involved redirecting all the money spent on the police department to social services, affordable housing and Cure Violence.

The “defund the police” protesters decided that Mayor Krewson needs to resign, so they marched to her house Sunday. Problem? Mayor Krewson lives in a gated community, and the protest marchers were trespassing when they marched past the mansion owned by Mark McCloskey, who happens to be one of the richest lawyers in the state of Missouri.

 

A couple brandished an AR-15 and a handgun at protesters marching past their mansion in an upscale St. Louis neighborhood.
Husband and wife, Mark and Patricia McCloskey, could be seen aiming the guns at demonstrators who walked by their palatial property in the wealthy Forest Park area at around 6pm on Sunday. . . .
St. Louis police confirmed they were called to Portland Place at around 7.20pm on Sunday night for an incident involving trespassing and assault [with] intimidation after the McCloskeys issued a ‘call for help’.
‘The victims stated they were on their property when they heard a loud commotion coming from the street. When the victims went to investigate the commotion, they observed a large group of subjects forcefully break an iron gate marked with “No Trespassing” and “Private Street” signs,’ police said.
‘Once through the gate, the victims advised the group that they were on a private street and trespassing and told them to leave. The group began yelling obscenities and threats of harm to both victims.
‘When the victims observed multiple subjects who were armed, they then armed themselves and contacted police. The investigation is ongoing.’

The McCloskeys have spent more than 20 years, and untold millions of dollars, restoring the Busch-Faust mansion, which was built in 1912 by an heiress of the Busch brewing fortune. The McCloskeys are Democrats (tort lawyers generally are) who have donated to Joe Biden, but you can imagine their panic at seeing a smelly mob of protesters come barging onto their private street. And yeah, if you’re a rich white guy living in a mansion in a Democrat-run city like St. Louis, better keep your AR-15 handy, because . . . Well, you can finish that sentence.




 

Rayshard Brooks’ Girlfriend Arrested

Her lawyer denies she burned down the Wendy’s:

The woman named as a suspect in the Wendy’s restaurant fire that broke out during protests over Rayshard Brooks’ death in Atlanta has been arrested and is facing charges of first-degree arson, authorities said Tuesday.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a tweet that Natalie White was in custody and being booked into the county jail.
White’s lawyer, Drew Findling, said his client did not start the June 13 fire.
When asked by CNN whether his client knew Rayshard Brooks, Findling said, “Yes, but I will not comment on the extent of their relationship.”
Findling said he wanted to keep the focus on what he called the “tragic and unnecessary death of Rayshard Brooks,” whose funeral was held Tuesday.
Previously, CNN reported investigators were looking into whether Brooks and White knew each other.
In body camera video released by police, Brooks can be heard telling the officers who questioned him that Natalie White was his girlfriend.

UPDATE: In a comment to the New York Post, Ms. White’s lawyer went so far as to admit that his client was “good friends” with Brooks.




 

Black People Celebrate ‘Juneteenth’ Weekend by Shooting Each Other

You can’t blame racist police for this:

Three people were killed and at least 11 hurt early Monday after a multi-day street party erupted in lots of gunfire in northwest Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Five of the injured people were struck by cars as they began scrambling across streets away from the chaotic scene, police said. Three of the people who were injured are fighting for their lives, police said.
There have been no arrests, no suspects and no indication of a motive for the killings yet. . . .
“It was a very, very chaotic scene,” Deputy Chief Gerald Smith said at the news conference. “This was a mass casualty incident.” . . .
Jennings described the outdoor event as a multi-day “impromptu block party” for Juneteenth that had been running off-and-on since Friday.
The official Juneteenth celebration included a March through the neighborhood Friday but continued in several unofficial celebrations throughout the weekend, Smith said.
Juneteenth celebrates the events of June 19, 1865, when the last of the nation’s enslaved people learned they had been set free by the Emancipation Proclamation.
Witnesses told WBTV the neighborhood’s Juneteenth affair had been “a happy, peaceful celebration” prior to the violence. Street racing and drivers “doing donuts in the road” had been part of the celebration, witnesses told the station.
Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles issued a statement calling the shootings “a senseless act of violence” that marred the holiday festivities. “What should have been a joyous celebration of freedom, became a moment where people lost their lives,” Lyles said in a series of tweet.
“How tragic is this?” Lyles told WCNC TV. “This is the heart beat of the Black community. This is our city, our neighborhood, our people … We’ve had a lot in the last couple of years, but this has to be the worst.”

Just go ahead and tear down some more Confederate statues, because obviously dead guys from 150 years ago are to blame for this.




 

A Death in Antifastan

Gosh, it seems criminal gangs are operating in the cop-free zone:

Seattle police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another critically injured inside Seattle’s so-called “CHOP” or Capitol Hill Organized Protest zone.
The 911 calls to report shots fired in Cal Anderson Park, near the intersection of 10th Ave. and E. Pine Street started coming in at about 2:19 a.m. Saturday, according to city of Seattle officials.
At 2:25 a.m., Seattle Fire Department medics responded and were awaiting Seattle police to secure the scene before going into the CHOP, which is standard procedure for the fire department. Seattle police arrived at about 2:28 a.m. but weren’t able to get inside the CHOP zone.
Police tried to find the shooting victims but were met by a “violent crowd” that prevented the officers from safely accessing the victims, according to a release from Seattle police Saturday. . . .
Police later discovered both shooting victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center in private vehicles by CHOP medics.
The first victim, a 19-year-old man arrived at Harborview at 2:42 a.m., according to a Seattle fire dispatch log provided by city officials. The man died from his injuries, police said. The second victim, a 33-year-old man, arrived at Harborview at about 3:06 a.m. and remains in critical condition as of Sunday afternoon. . . .
Organizers of the CHOP sent a statement to KING 5, that said in part no one official was denying Seattle police or fire entry to the area.
“No one within the CHOP denied entry to PD within any organizational capacity. Officers deciding on their own not to enter an area is not the same as being denied entry,” read the statement. “We as safety teams are peacekeepers, not police. We do not want to be homicide detectives, or CSI, or accessories to this murder. We still want what we wanted from day one, justice for all.”
In the statement, organizers also said the people involved in the shooting may have a previous history and “the situation escalated because of gang affiliations,” however, the involvement of gangs in the shooting has not been confirmed by police. . . .
Maryellen Donnelly lives across the street from where the shooting happened and heard the gunshots. She said she’s begged lawmakers to intervene for everyone’s safety.
“We need help, we live here, we need to not be ignored, there needs to be a dialogue. I think the initial protest has gotten lost,” said Donnelly.

 

See, there’s no point trying to help liberals, who will believe any lie, so long as the liars speak in the rhetoric of “social justice.”

What, exactly, what “the initial protest” about? An anarchist mob started rioting in Seattle because of what happened in Minneapolis? Because police in Seattle are racist? There was no actual grievance in Seattle, so the “protest” had no real purpose. It was simply an excuse for anarchists and other criminals to assemble and commit violence. The city’s mayor simply ordered the abandonment of a police precinct and surrendered an entire neighborhood to this dangerous mob, and we are surprised that gang-bangers are settling scores in the “autonomous zone”? We are surprised that this neighborhood has become a lawless jungle?

Elect Democrats, and this is what you get.




 

Surprising Plot Twist in Atlanta: ‘Girlfriend’ Is Suspect in Wendy’s Arson

Absolutely did not see this coming:

for burning down the Wendy’s where
he was shot and killed by cops

That’s the Daily Mail headline (via Ed Driscoll at Instapundit).

When I first saw this angle tipped yesterday by Wayne Dupree, I couldn’t believe it. If you saw the video on social media, you probably guessed that the white girl setting fire to Wendy’s was some kind of Antifa radical. To discover she may be Rayshard Brooks girlfriend? Whoa!

It was reporters in Atlanta who first noticed that the name of the arson suspect matched the name Brooks told police was the girlfriend who dropped him off at Wendy’s, as captured on bodycam video:

During the incident, Brooks suggested to officers that he could go to his girlfriend’s house nearby. In the footage, Brooks names White.
“You know, Natalie White, she’s my girlfriend. She left. I said, ‘Baby, I’ll get Wendy’s and then I’ll go back …'” he can be heard saying.

But that was a lie. Natalie White is from Gwinnett County, on the other side of the city from the Wendy’s where Brooks was shot.

If this woman was his girlfriend, what does that tell us about the relationship between Brooks and Tomika Miller, the mother of his three children, who has made so many media appearances lamenting the death of the man she calls her “husband”? Not that running around on your baby mama ought to be punishable by death, but considering how the media have depicted Brooks as a saintly martyr, this information does seem relevant. Although I’m sure it’s racist to question the beatification of St. Rayshard of the Blessed Bacon Double Cheeseburger.




 

Didn’t We Try to Warn You?

When last we took notice of Portland, Mayor Ted Wheeler had decided there were limits to coddling Antifa, namely when they tried to set up an “autonomous zone” in front of his apartment building.

Nothing can appease the vandal horde:

A statue of George Washington, the first president of the United States, was toppled and draped in a burning American flag by protesters in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday evening.
KOIN 6 reports:

Thursday marked the 21st day of protests in Portland sparked by the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. Two groups — Rose City Justice and Lavender Caucus — hosted a sit-in rally at Jefferson High School in the evening where community members shared their experiences with racism to a crowd of a few hundred. The group did not hold a march.
A separate group of about 20 people met at NE Sandy Boulevard and NE 57th Avenue around 10 p.m. at the site of a large bronze statue of George Washington. Some wrapped the statue’s head in an American flag and lit the flag on fire. Their numbers grew over the next hour until there were enough people to pull the statue to the ground. They quickly scattered. A KOIN 6 News crew found the statue face down and covered in graffiti. Portland police arrived a short time later. . . .

The monument and its base were covered in vandalism, including the phrases: “Murder,” “Big Floyd,” “1619,” “Fuck Cops,” “BLM,” “Land Back,” “White Fragility,” and “You’re on Native Land.”
On Sunday, a statue of Thomas Jefferson, the United States’ third president and author of the Declaration of Independence, was defaced and torn down outside a Portland high school.
Photos obtained by Oregon Live show the base of the monument was spray-painted in black with “slave owner” and “George Floyd.”

Back in the 1990s, when activists began declaring the Confederate flag to be “controversial,” I recall leaders of the Sons of Confederate Veterans warning that this malicious spirit would not stop with dishonoring our Southern ancestors. Rather, these “activists” were inspired by demonic forces of racial hatred toward all white people, so that once they were through trashing the memory of the Confederacy, next they would turn to destroying the memory of the Founding Fathers and momunuments to other famous figures of American history. Does this sound familiar?

The term Year Zero . . . applied to the takeover of Cambodia in April 1975 by the Khmer Rouge, is an analogy to the Year One of the French Revolutionary Calendar. . . .
The idea behind Year Zero is that all culture and traditions within a society must be completely destroyed or discarded and a new revolutionary culture must replace it, starting from scratch. All of the history of a nation or people before Year Zero is largely deemed irrelevant, because it will ideally be purged and replaced from the ground up.

Do not mistake their purpose. Stigmatizing our nation’s past as stained by oppression, radicals seek not only to destroy symbols of our history, but also to destroy all laws, customs and traditions that might obstruct the totalitarian regime they intend to impose upon us.

The toppling of monuments to Washington and Jefferson came at a most inconvenient time for Rich Lowry, who just the other day had assured us that there was no such “slippery slope” ahead. The shallow, corrupt and cowardly editor of National Review wrote a column with the headline “Conservatives Should Feel No Investment in Confederate Monuments,” in which he basically celebrated the vandal horde.

Friday night in D.C.’s Judiciary Square, police stood by and did nothing while an Antifa mob tore down the statue of Albert Pike, who not only led Native American troops who fought for the Confederacy, but was a leading figure in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

Also Friday night the vandal horde in Raleigh, N.C., destroyed a monument to North Carolina’s Confederate troops. Anyone who applauds these acts of deliberate destruction now will have no logical grounds for complaint when the mob goes after some other “offensive” historical figure. And make no mistake, they will not stop at destroying monuments to dead white men, but will soon bring a campaign of organized and systematic violence against living white people.

Not only did the San Francisco mob topple the statue of a Catholic missionary, but also statues of U.S. Grant and Francis Scott Key.

Left-wing white “allies” of this racial terrorist movement are like the Girondists in the French Revolution, who were happy to overthrow the monarchy, but then found themselves sent to the guillotine by the more radical Jacobins. The Reign of Terror did not stop until it had consumed the lives of even its original authors, and this is the story of all radical movements in every age since. Only the most ruthless fanatics obtain power in radical regimes, because no rational or moderate person would be part of such a movement. Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) are now happy to incite this hateful radicalism because they believe it will help them defeat President Trump in November.

Long before Election Day arrives, however, I expect that this movement will boomerang back against the Democrats somehow. I cannot predict what manner this ironic self-inflicted injury will take, because there are so many possibilities. For example, did you know that the mayor’s residence in New York City was built by and named for a slave-owner?

Burn it down, baby. Burn it all down.
