Harry Reid’s Constituents

Recent news from Nevada:

A Las Vegas mother, her ex-husband and his new wife all faced court [Dec. 16] after being charged with what police described as  ‘one of the most horrific sex rings in memory’ involving their own children.
Mother-of-four Terrie L. Sena, 43, who was arrested . . . and charged with multiple counts of disturbing sexual abuse in Clark County, has been a licensed kindergarten through 12th grade substitute teacher since May 2013, according to The Las Vegas Review Journal.
Along with her ex-husband Christopher Sena, 47, and his current wife Deborah Sena, 50, the trio are accused of engaging in sex acts with at least eight minors and filming some of the encounters as part of a child porn operation. The eight children identified as being abused were immediate and extended family members, police said.
Despite the strange relationship dynamic, all three live together in the same trailer home. . . .
Investigators believe there are more victims and say the sex crimes have been going on for at least 12 years.
Some of the victims are now adults, police said.
Terrie and Christopher Sena had three sons and a daughter together before splitting in 1997.
However Terrie continued to live with her ex and their children, even when he took a new wife.
Police found out about the alleged sex ring in September after the new wife Deborah Sena, another adult and a child told a family law attorney about the abuse. . . .
A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Sena, who is facing 23 charges, including incest, bestiality and felony child abuse. . . .
One of the seized recordings allegedly shows two Sena children having sex with the family dog, The Daily Beast reported.
A review of other recordings allegedly implicated Terrie and Deborah Sena.
The pair were arrested on December 11 and together face 27 charges, including child abuse and neglect, sexual assault of a minor and incest. . . .
The court heard that Christopher Sana threatened to break the legs of one of his alleged victims if the child told anyone of the abuse, according to KLAS-TV.

So just in case you had ever wondered what kind of people would elect Harry Reid as their senator, now you know.

Taco Shout-Out To Harry ‘The Cadaver’

by Smitty

Via Instapundit:

Harry Reid (who lives in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel) said liberals are getting bullied by Republican billionaires but the Democratic Party “doesn’t have many billionaires” behind it.

Remember, you can’t spell “billionaires” without the letters in “liar is on bile”. Take it away, Taco:

Update:

The Cadaver on Twitter:

  1. Isn’t this Tweet insinuating that the SCOTUS is sexist?
  2. Why are only the female Justices apparently valid in Reid’s eyes?
  3. Isn’t ANY decision by the court having some kind of impact on women, even if Harry doesn’t agree?
  4. How did these Godless Commie Sodomites raise birth control to the level of a human right, for Fluke’s sake?

A Tale Of Two Burgers

— Wombat-socho

As I mentioned in the previous burger post, one of my objectives in visiting Las Vegas this week was to check out a couple of hamburger joints not found in my Washington DC stomping grounds: the infamous Heart Attack Grill, and the wildly popular In-N-Out Burger. There were also some other suggestions, but in the heat (sic) of the moment I completely forgot what they were. Anyway…I went forth in the noonday sun today to find a suitable location for the burrow I’ll be occupying next June, and having completed that task, headed out Sahara Boulevard on the bus to find the nearest In-N-Out.

Micah 1:7? How appropriate.

A lot of pixels have been lavished by a lot of fanboys and fangirls on how great In-N-Out Burger is; how it uses only fresh ingredients prepared to your order; how its “secret menu” is so awesome. At the risk of enraging said fanboys, I frankly didn’t think it was all that. I ordered a double-double protein style (no bun) and sampled the fries (for SCIENCE!), and to be honest, neither the burger nor the fries impressed me. It’s not that there was anything bad about either one, but they just didn’t live up to the hype. Comparing them to Five Guys, I give the advantage to the latter: In-N-Out does not have bacon, their fries are inferior to Five Guys’ peanut-fried version, and Five Guys has more variety in the available Coke product.

In fact, I was so underwhelmed by In-N-Out that the minute I stepped off the Deuce at Fremont Street, I returned to the Heart Attack Grill, where I’d had dinner on Tuesday after arriving from Dulles.

They’re not kidding, you guys.

One of the reasons I like Carl’s Jr./Hardees is their in-your-face response to the food Puritans who think we all ought to be eating local-source organically-grown artisanal tofu, and the Heart Attack Grill turns that attitude up to 11. Nothing, absolutely nothing on the menu is good for you in the traditional sense*, and the staff takes great relish in dishing up the Bypass Burgers -available up to Octuple Bypass Size with eight half-pound patties, cheese, chili, onions, tomatoes, and an optional 40 slices of bacon- Flatliner Fries cooked in lard, milkshakes with the world’s highest butterfat content, beer, booze, unfiltered cigarettes, wine served in intravenous bags…it just goes on and on, set against a backdrop of hilarious movie parody posters and a “Last Supper” style mural in which Dr. Jon serves a quadruple bypass burger and flatliner fries to his fast food mascot apostles. Diners are provided with hospital gowns on entry, which is helpful if you’re a messy eater; patients who fail to respond to treatment (i.e., not finishing their burger) are spanked by the “nurses” or “doctors” on duty as appropriate. And those nurses have some quality arms, let me tell you – not from personal experience, mind you; I finished my burgers. Oh yes – diners who weigh in at 350 or more pounds get their Bypass Burger for free with purchase of beverage, and since I am a wombat of bulk, if not definition, I took full advantage of this – but tipped as if I had paid for the burgers, because I’m not a schmuck.

So I don’t think I’ll be going back to In-N-Out, but I think after I move to Vegas next year, I’m going to be spending a few meals with Dr. Jon, Chief Nurse Tracy, and the rest of the crew.

*They do have bottled water, which may be the one thing on the menu that nutritionists would agree is good for you.

If Bundy Had Married His Cattle, Lefties’d Celebrate “Diversity” #BundyRanch

by Smitty

Stacy had picked up this story a couple of days ago, when the BLM backed down. For now. Per ABC:

A group of armed militia and protesters, some sporting nametags reading “domestic terrorist,” remain camped out on a cattle ranch in Nevada, where they have been purportedly defending the property since a tense showdown ended with the federal government last week. A 20-year struggle between rancher Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management over decades of alleged illegal cattle grazing on public land ended last Sunday, with the government backing down from a controversial week-long cattle round-up.

Harry Reid was his usual conciliatory self, as Instapundit notes:

Yes, Protestors at Bundy Ranch Were ‘Domestic Terrorists.’ That’s a lie, but it’s a dangerous one, since it seems to pre-justify government violence while egging on tension. That’s unwise. If they decide to actually become domestic terrorists, Harry, I expect you’ll be among the first to know.

for which standard Ed Driscoll offered a more thorough test:

We’ll know they’re domestic terrorists when Rolling Stone runs dreamily-lit photos of them on their cover, Robert Redford makes a movie about them, and an ambitious young leftwing politician launches his career in their front parlor.

The ‘terrorist’ line suggests a couple of gags:

Could Bundy himeslf make a worse Senator than Elizabeth Warren?

Can that mighty herd displace Harry Reid in the Virtuoso Crapflooding department?

Clearly, Bundy is a proxy for all Tea Partiers. This is really all about flogging the base in preparation for November. The rule of law is at stake in this case, as noted at Powerline:

. . .the question of whether Bundy and/or his supporters would be justified in engaging in armed resistance if the federal government attempts to carry out the court orders with which they disagree.

I say that armed resistance would be wrong. As John explained, “legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on.” Legally, he is required to pay the grazing fee and limit the grazing of his cattle. His claim that the federal government doesn’t own the land in question is simply wrong and has been rejected by the courts.

Bundy can refuse to pay the grazing fee, just as I can refuse to pay my taxes. But in a nation governed by the rule of law, non-compliance with the law has consequences. Armed resistance to those consequences is, as I say, wrong.

It would be great to try to connect Bundy to Rosa Parks, but I don’t see much overlap. No, this is clearly about distracting from the failure of ObamaCare, and prepping the troops for November.
Thus, let the conservatives be more energized, and let Reid be hoisted on his own foul petard in the next Congress.

Bundy Wins Ranch Standoff

This is good news:

A Nevada cattle rancher appears to have won his week-long battle with the federal government over a controversial cattle roundup that had led to the arrest of several protesters.
Cliven Bundy went head to head with the Bureau of Land Management over the removal of hundreds of his cattle from federal land, where the government said they were grazing illegally.
Bundy claims his herd of roughly 900 cattle have grazed on the land along the riverbed near Bunkerville, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, since 1870 and threatened a “range war” against the BLM on the Bundy Ranch website after one of his sons was arrested while protesting the removal of the cattle.
“I have no contract with the United States government,” Bundy said. “I was paying grazing fees for management and that’s what BLM was supposed to be, land managers and they were managing my ranch out of business, so I refused to pay.”
The federal government had countered that Bundy “owes the American people in excess of $1 million ” in unpaid grazing fees and “refuses to abide by the law of land, despite many opportunities over the last 20 years to do so.”
However, today the BLM said it would not enforce a court order to remove the cattle and was pulling out of the area.
“Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public,” BLM Director Neil Kornze said.

Bundy still faces a federal court battle over the grazing fees, but the danger of a Ruby Ridge-type shootout has passed.

#NV04 Gets Interesting

My friend Niger Innis declared himself a candidate for Congress in Nevada’s 4th District today. Niger faces a GOP primary contest against a good conservative, and I’ve got some issues on his immigration policy, but (a) he’s my friend and (b) his candidacy may raise the profile of this key 2014 House race:

Republican Niger Innis on Wednesday launched his Nevada congressional campaign on a populist note, saying he wants to revive the “American dream” by expanding job opportunities for the poor and middle class and by helping small businesses thrive.
He said Democrats have not done enough to provide equal opportunity for the poor and middle class.
Innis slammed U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., for lamenting the gap between the rich and poor even though Reid has been in the majority power seat for seven years, including periods when Democrats held both houses and the White House and had more ability to make changes.
“They want to run on income inequality? Bring it on!” Innis said.
Innis also said his campaign will unveil a comprehensive immigration reform plan that would provide a pathway to U.S. citizenship for many of the 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States, although he said he would place a premium on ensuring the security of the U.S. border.
He said he’ll offer a health plan as well as Nevadans and Americans struggle to gain insurance coverage, now required by President Barack Obama’s health insurance law.
“We are a state that is filled with a diverse population of people who are not looking for government to solve their problems, but get out of the way of opportunity,” Innis said.
Innis, a conservative African-American and a member of the small-government Tea Party movement, is running for the 4th Congressional District seat now held by Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nev., a freshman and Nevada’s first black congressman. Innis also faces a primary against Assemblyman Cresent Hardy, R-Mesquite.
The vast congressional district, created in 2012 after the latest U.S. Census, covers most of northern Clark County, part of Lyon County, and all of Esmeralda, Lincoln, Mineral, Nye and White Pine counties. Still, more than four-fifths of the district’s population lives in Clark County, which is the home base for both Horsford and Innis.

Hey, we need to talk about this “pathway to citizenship” thing, OK? But other than that, good luck.

A: Article 1, Section 7, Clause 1
Q: What’s Stuck In An Uncomfortable Location Of Harry Reid’s Anatomy?

by Smitty

0:49 What right do they have to pick and choose what part of government’s going to be funded?

And the Constitution says:

All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

So if the House, which has remained oddly stuck in size since 1910, and thus may not represent the people with optimal fidelity, originates a bill, it’s kind of odd that the Dim Bulb from Vegas not know from whence that right originates.

And then Reid goes on to obsess about the obsession with ObamaCare. Here, the House reflects the hatred of the Unaffordable Careless Act with all due disrespect for its idiotic origins, foul drafting, brass-knuckle passage, moronic jurisprudence, banana republic exceptions, irresponsible roll-out, and predictable economic doom to follow.

Screw you, Reid, and the casinos that kept your undead cadaver cluttering our Senate.

Harry Reid … Boxer?

by Smitty

I saw this on Hot Air

According to a source familiar with Reid’s thinking, the majority leader, a former boxer, considers himself a political street fighter now

A bit of Wikipedia takes you to LVRJ:

Reid was not born into a Mormon family and did not join the church until he was a student at Utah State University in Logan. After a rough and tumble upbringing in the mining town of Searchlight, Reid became an amateur boxer and has acknowledged getting “called out” from bars in his youth.
“I am, by nature, somebody that … I was raised where you settled your differences physically, and I still have a little of that in me and I’m fighting that all the time. I don’t want to be mean to people,” he said.

Excuse me, but:

Ha ha ha ha!

Dingius Maximus, suited for action

We need far more evidence than a story by Tony Batt in a friendly fish wrapper to put some viagra in Harry’s limp tale. If that story sucked any more, it would be. . .a literary biography, wherein Harry Reid was born behind the Iron Curtain, the son of a freedom fighter, whose father died protecting him and his laboring mother from Commies. Mom snuffs it, too, leaving Harry to be raised by wolves. Then he wanders southeast, in the ruins of the WWII Balkans, barely missing a chance to wax a Nazi sympathizer whose name sounds like ‘morose’.

Hopping on a merchant vessel in his late teens, Reid comes to America, learning English from Isaac Asimov novels. The Foundation Trilogy, of course fires his imagination, as a Progressively perfected humanity seems a swell idea. He drifts west, finagles his way through school, launches a political career, and the rest is indistinguishable from an unflushed toilet.

Oh, no, wait: boxer. I get it. Not the pugilist kind, but:

English could be the language of ambiguity, but maybe not.

This post is not intentionally an insult to the Silver State. It’s just that when I think of amateur Congressional boxers, I think of my bottle-hitting Congress-tool, ‘Gentleman’ Jim Moran.

More at The Lonely Conservative, where we find out how the Dingy One takes care of ‘the family’. I wonder how much honest, simple investigative journalism it will take to uncover enough ethically dodgy crap in Reid’s past to make resignation seem attractive to the fellow.

I disagree with Bill Quick here. Not to be a Harry Reid apologist even slightly, Ethics Alarms has the right of it. What Jerry Sandusky did was unspeakable; let it therefore remain unspoken, unless delivering a subpoena for similar offenses. The Left denies Truth and opts for nihilism. Let the Lefties destroy their souls without choosing to follow, say I.

While not offering a full theory of “Good Clean Mockery” or claiming any authority over the idea, some of my internal editorial principles are:

  • Leave peoples’ names alone. By drawing a line there, I help myself to remember that even Harry Reid has a heart, albeit stone.
  • No potty mouth. The internet is full of little Quentin Tarantinos without me adding to that. The Lord sees all, as might someone from church.
  • Let the unspeakable remain unspoken. Sexuality is a private matter. If you’re going to make these kinds of accusations against Harry Reid, why not let it all hang out at the Chick-Fil-A with someone of the same gender? Pecca fortiter! No? Me neither.
  • Opt for a laugh. As I’ve tried to do in this post.
