World’s Youngest Blogger Reacts To Obama’s Speech, Phone-In, Whatever

Come on, Mr. President: a 50 days old I’ve done less whiffy work in my nappies than you’re doing at 50 years.

Some really good grown-up commentary here, at Heritage, which seems interested in ensuring I retain some.

Update III: Yeah, Camp of the Saints; yeah.

A One-Way Ticket to Des Moines …

. . . would cost $249 if I booked today for an Aug. 3 departure from Reagan National in D.C.

You may ask, “Why Iowa? Why Aug. 3? Why a one-way ticket?” Here’s the story at The American Spectator:

Atlanta businessman Herman Cain will begin a nine-day bus tour of Iowa next week, leading up to the Aug. 11 Republican presidential debate hosted by Fox News and the Aug. 13 Ames Straw Poll. . . .

The “Common Sense Solutions” bus tour kicks off Aug. 4 in Des Moines. I’m thinking of booking a one-way flight because it’s my first trip to Iowa and, while I’ll be following Cain’s bus tour across the Hawkeye State, I also want to catch up with as many of the other candidates as I can before the straw poll.

My general idea is to get a solid on-the-ground perspective of the political landscape in Iowa, to talk to organizers, activists and operatives, developing sources so that all I have to do — as we move ahead toward the February 2012 GOP caucuses — is make a few phone calls to get the straight lowdown. Smitty Home On R&R

by Smitty

Back on terra Americana at last! The wife has overhauled major chunks of the house, and it looks great. Also, being in a country with usable bandwidth is a refreshing change. Not to get too self-congratulatory here, but you really have to know too much to get any sort of blogposts going from Other Places.

Mrs. Other Smitty was gracious enough to pose for a Blogger Bump photo. The World’s Youngest Blogger is estimated to be arriving around the 25th, but we may, for various reasons, set about encouraging him to emerge somewhat sooner.

Thank you to the endless stream of well-wishers, in person and online. Heaven forbid I ever confuse myself with the People Who Matter. The blogosphere is just a self-selecting collection of people who understand American Exceptionalism and will not suffer the Progressives to offer inferior, unaffordable substitutes for liberty.

Restated: offer me no admiration; offer me action in support of the Constitution.

Facebook Disrespects the Unborn

by Unborn Son of Smitty, via (Drudge)

Yeah, FaceBook is private property. Understood, pages for the unborn could have unforseen legal consequences with minors. Sure, if we want to criticize, we should get our own blog.
Oh, wait: I have that enlightened opportunity! FaceBook, you suck the grand wazoo! People who want to celebrate life will have to do it elsewhere. If the girl could have leveraged some state-approved racist language, would that have helped? What if she denounced Sarah Palin?
You might say I should focus on, you know, getting born and enjoying life, rather than fretting politics and FaceBook.
If only the decisions of the politicians and web weenies had a similar disinterest in my life.
