HookerGate: Is FBI Raid Connected to Menendez’s Dominican Jailbait Scandal?

It was the Wednesday before Election Day when the story broke that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) had been caught patronizing prostitutes during trips to the Dominican Republic aboard the private jet of a Florida ophthalmologist. The mainstream media suppressed the news, as they habitually suppress all news not favorable to Democrats. But it’s a little harder to ignore the story once there’s an FBI raid:

FBI agents late Tuesday night raided the West Palm Beach business of an eye doctor suspected of providing free trips and even underage Dominican Republic prostitutes to U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J. — who has denied what he calls the “fallacious allegations.” . . .
The investigation is believed to be focusing on [Dr. Salomon] Melgen’s finances and the allegations about Menendez’s trips and contact with prostitutes. . . .
Melgen has an outstanding IRS lien of $11.1 million for taxes owed from 2006 to 2009, according to records filed with the Palm Beach County recorder’s office. A previous IRS lien for $6.2 million was released in 2011.
Despite those financial problems, Melgen and his family have contributed at least $357,000 to candidates and committees since 1998, according to Florida and federal campaign records. Of that, the Melgens have contributed about 9 percent to Menendez’s federal campaigns.

New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez abruptly left a press conference on Hurricane Sandy aid ahead of other Senate Democrats on Monday. While it’s unclear why Menendez left the presser early, the move came amid building pressure concerning a scandal involving allegations he solicited prostitutes in the Dominican Republic. . . .
Menendez told Breitbart News’ Kerry Picket that he wasn’t “going to dignify that story” when she asked him for comment on the FBI inquiry into his alleged solicitation of prostitutes in the Dominican Republic. Menendez had a similarly abrasive confrontation with The Daily Caller’s Nicholas Ballasy on Monday.

Why haven’t feminist blogs said anything about this? Do they think it’s OK for Democrat senators to have sex with underaged prostitutes? Let’s ask noted feminist hero Harry Reid:

“I always consider the source . . . and all anyone here has to look at is the source where this comes from. It’s — it’s a source that has brought up a lot of non-issues. . . . I’ve told you how I feel about the source of this stuff. It’s really very, very typical for the source.”

Ed Morrissey notes that Harry Reid is selective about his sources:

Let’s remind everyone that this is the same Harry Reid who repeatedly insisted that “sources” told him that Mitt Romney was a tax-cheating felon, while Reid insisted that the burden of proof was on Romney to prove himself innocent.

Mr. Menendez is also under federal investigation for his activities in the Dominican Republic with an underage prostitute. The woman, now of age, provided testimony that she had sexual relations with the Senator several times at the age of 16.
While Mr. Menendez is busy rearranging his plaque in the Senate Chambers and playing the role of de facto Chairman for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, a massive storm is brewing. And once again, New Jersey is in the path of destruction.

CNN’s ‘Poorly Rated’ @Soledad_OBrien Will Lose Her Show Nobody Watched

Soledad O’Brien, America’s Least Popular Cable TV News Personality™

Jeff Zucker is making big changes at CNN, the cable-news pioneer that has fallen to third place in the ratings: Gone are longtime contributors James Carville and Mary Matalin, as well as Bill Bennett and Erick Erickson, the latter of whom has signed on with Fox News. Now we learn that America’s Least Popular Cable TV News Personality™ will be losing her morning-show spot:

CNN plans to launch a new morning show to replace the poorly rated “Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien,” sources at the network tell POLITICO.
The new show will be co-hosted by Chris Cuomo, who has just joined the network from ABC News, and likely by Erin Burnett, who currently hosts a primetime program on CNN. O’Brien’s own future at the network remains unclear.
“Soledad is very important to the network, and we’re discussing various options with her,” a CNN spokesperson told POLITICO this afternoon.

So, Cuomo and Burnett will anchor the new morning show and yet “Soledad is very important to the network” . . . how?

O’Brien is one of those people who used to work for the “Big Three” broadcast networks — in O’Brien’s case, NBC — and who was therefore automatically considered a “get” when CNN hired her in 2003. But Soledad has since flopped in every time-slot she’s had, and if she had any ratings magic, surely it would have been apparent by now, nearly 10 years into her career as a cable-news ratings albatross.

Strangely, The Atlantic‘s Alexander Abad Santos suggests the unliked O’Brien could get a primetime slot at CNN. Is Jeff Zucker that stupid?

Soledad O’Brien is not merely behind Fox and MSNBC, she’s even drawing 50,000 fewer viewers than Robin Meade on Headline News.

CNN executives were quick to clarify their complaint that Soledad’s audience was “too ethnic.” Translation: “We can’t fire Soledad, because she’ll sue us for discrimination. Also, we resent the inference that we would cancel a show just because it doesn’t draw the audience of high-income young white professionals that adverstisers prefer!”

  1. The Native Americans–did they not come from somewhere, too? Or does the doctrine of Holy Progress subscribe to spontaneous generation?
  2. I’m from here Mr. President. 100 years on mom’s side, 150 on dad’s. At what point do I get a pass where I’m considered ‘native’ enough that I’m free of your resentment farming, sir?
  3. How can you possibly claim to be anything like a uniter when you’re deliberately setting people against each other?

Later in the evening, the host interrupted me to point out that the mayor himself had just arrived. Did I want to meet him? Sure. My friend and I followed the host over, shook Bloomberg’s hand, and my friend thanked him for his position on gun control. Without even acknowledging the comment, Bloomberg gestured toward a woman in a very tight floor-length gown standing nearby and said, “Look at the ass on her.”

This revelation pained the liberal women at Feministing:

He’s an advocate for reproductive rights and sex education, but he’s also apparently a casually sexist douchebag. So now you know.

At least Bloomberg never left a campaign aide to die in a submerged Oldsmobile, unlike some other liberal feminist heroes we could name.

No, wait — I’m sorry, the actual name of the new reality-TV show on the Style network is Big Rich Atlanta, but this involves the question of how these shallow trampy women became rich:

The cast includes two women named Marcia Marchman and Meagan McBrayer, the ex-wife and daughter of Dr. Daniel McBrayer, owner of an abortion clinic in Marietta, Georgia, located just northwest of Atlanta. . . .
In 2002, McBrayer admitted to committing illegal second-trimester abortions in his office on Powers Ferry Road in Atlanta. Under Georgia law, it is illegal to perform abortions after the first trimester in a non-hospital or an unlicensed facility. . . .
Dr. Daniel McBrayer’s ex-wife and daughter are starring on Big Rich Atlanta because of the blood money he acquires from the thousands of abortions he commits annually.

The Style network has made itself complicit, with Marcia Marchman and Meagan McBrayer, in this abortionist’s career as a greedy baby-killer.

Republican Auto-Demoralization

It’s amazing how Obama and the Democrats have persuaded John McCain, Lindsay Graham and Marco Rubio to help them destroy the morale of the Republican Party grassroots at the very beginning the 2014 mid-term election cycle. Democrats know that John McCain’s push for “comprehensive immigration reform” (i.e., amnesty) in 2006 andf 2007 demoralized Republicans and alienated blue-collar conservatives from the GOP, thus helping Democrats win Congress in 2006 mid-terms and win the White House in 2008.

Now, by convincing Johyn McCain to re-launch the “compehensive” amnesty, Democrats have set the stage for a crushing victory over Republicans in November 2014 and, as an added bonus, have ruined Rubio’s future viability as a GOP presidential hopeful by associating the young Florida senator with this shabby betrayal of principles.

Furthermore, the McCain-Graham-Rubio triumverate have steered Republicans right into Obama’s carefully staged ambush. By insisting on legalizing the residency status of foreign same-sex partners, Obama presents the GOP with a lose-lose dilemma. Either (a) prove themselves to be “homophobes” willing to vote down the entire plan over the same-sex measures, or (b) further alienate working-class voters by extending citizenship rights to homosexual foreigners.

John McCain is the most valuable ally Democrats have in D.C.
