Gingrich Gets Stomped by 30 Points in Delaware; Fourth in Pennsylvania

As predicted, the talk of Newt Gingrich winning Delaware turned out to have been delusional: Mitt Romney got 57% to Gingrich’s 27% in the state where Newt had campaigned heavily in recent weeks.

We have known since April 8 that Gingrich’s campaign was more than $4 million in debt. By continuing his campaign another 16 days, Newt appears to have placed third in Rhode Island and also third in Connecticut. He may finish within 40 points of Mitt in New York.

In his native Pennsylvania (many people forget Gingrich was born in Harrisburg), Newt appears to be on his way to a fourth-place finish behind Rick Santorum, who ended his campaign April 10.

Thanks to CAC at Ace of Spades HQ. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney is going to give a speech tonight in New Hampshire, a state where Mitt (a) won the primary and (b) trails Obama in the most recent poll.

Gonna be a lot of states like that. I’m just sayin’ . . .

UPDATE: Excerpts of Romney’s speech. You know who I personally blame for Newt’s pathetic shuffling zombie campaign? Here’s a four-word clue: “Second look at Gingrich?” It’s like he didn’t take The Boss seriously: “Newt for 2012? No, thanks.”

Anyway, Allahpundit wants to see Gingrich keep going until Newt’s humiliation and embarrassment are complete, I guess.

Meanwhile, the World’s Youngest Blogger, a fan of rapid head movements since before he departed the womb, dealt me a fetching forehead blow on the mouth, nearly splitting my lip. Then he cried. Like it was my fault. I think his Barack Obama impression is becoming a little too realistic. At nine months, he’s already more competent and less threatening to the country than #OccupyResoluteDesk.

New York Advocacy Group Plans ‘Very Gay Mother’s Day’ Event in Sex-Toy Shop

A New York group that describes itself as “an advocate and resource for people with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) parents” has announced a Mother’s Day fundraiser at a Soho sex-toy shop. “Join the queerspawn of COLAGE NYC on Sunday, May 13 for a very gay Mothers’ Day!” says the online invitation to the third annual event, advertised with the slogan “HOT CHILD IN THE CITY: Flaming Parents Make Hotter Children!”

COLAGE is a San Francisco-based organization that describes its mission on its Web site: “We build community and work toward social justice through youth empowerment, leadership development, education, and advocacy.”  The invitation to the Mother’s Day event in New York says:

For the past 20 years, COLAGE has been an advocate and resource for people with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) parents. In fact, COLAGE is the only national youth-driven network of people with LGBTQ parents. COLAGE NYC is an active, thriving chapter that is led by a team of adult volunteers. COLAGE NYC serves youth ages 8 and up by facilitating meetings where we offer advocacy and media trainings, community building and a chance for youth to have fun with their peers!

The event invitation describes the location:

Babeland is a forward-thinking, women-owned chain of sex shops, with locations in Seattle and NYC. For over a decade, they’ve touched the lives of countless women and men, queer and straight, with their positive, fun-loving attitude about sex and a bunch of really great sex toys! They’ve generously donated their beautiful Soho store for this event, and they’ll be adding Babeland classes, gift certificates and toys to our raffle.

Alabama Man Becomes Third Victim of ‘Justice for Trayvon’ Violence Trend UPDATE: Not a Hate Crime, Cops Say

From the very start, I warned against trying this case in the media. Demagoguery and political grandstanding have predictably inflamed emotions, so that innocent people who never set foot in Sanford, Florida, are made to pay a dreadful price: First in Baltimore, then in Chicago, and now in Mobile, Alabama:

Police tell News 5 the suspects used chairs, pipes and paint cans to beat Owens.
Owens’ sister, Ashley Parker, saw the attack. “It was the scariest thing I have ever witnessed.” . . .
As the attackers walked away, leaving Owen bleeding on the ground, Parker says one of them said “Now thats justice for Trayvon.”

The victim is hospitalized in critical condition. Ace of Spades:

I repeat: No national coverage of this racial hate crime pattern in the media.
Apparently some victims are unworthy, and some hatred and violence is justified.
Is Obama going to say anything? Call at least one of the victims? Attempt to bring calm? Attempt a “Sister Souljah” moment (which could actually benefit him politically) and call out violent black racists?
Apparently not, and the media has decided that’s their preferred political strategy, too.

That the meaning of “civil rights” now evidently includes violent reprisals against innocent people — in a word, terrorism — is something else the national media can’t be bothered to notice.

UPDATE: Not a hate crime?

Asked if the incident was being investigated as a hate crime, [Mobile police spokeswoman Ashley] Rains replied: “No, it’s not. It’s being investigated as an assault.” Eugene A. Seidel, first assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, declined to comment on the case when reached by FoxNews.com.
“Our policy is not to comment one way or another about cases,” Seidel said when asked if his office has inquired about the incident. “All I can say is no comment.”

NBC News should be named as an unindicted co-conspirator. Why let liberals have a monopoly on demagoguery? “No justice! No peace!”

Closet-Case Democratic Party Official Infected Ex-Girlfriend With AIDS Virus?

Last week, we noted that Jay Parmley, who was forced to resign as executive director of the North Carolina Democratic Party after being accused of sexually harassing a 26-year-old male staffer, had claimed to be the victim of “right-wing political enemies.”

Alas, it appears that the real victim was a young Oklahoma woman who says Parmley infected her with the AIDS virus:

Parmley’s ex-girlfriend Rebecca Burgin told TheDC that Parmley forever changed her life by making her HIV-positive. She’s worried, she said, that Parmley may have done to someone else what he did to her.
“My motivation for talking to you was that I have read the articles, I have read the letter [that Ortega sent to Parmley detailing sexual harassment allegations] and everything like that,” Burgin said.
“And after Jay and I broke up, the biggest concern that I had was, ‘what if this happened to somebody else? Would he do this to someone else?’ … My biggest concern is for anybody else that has had a relationship with him that he did not tell.” . . .
“When Jay and I met, I was 20 and he was 32,” she said. “To me, it seems to be a pattern, potentially… The unnerving thing to me is that it looks like he uses his position of authority to prey on younger adults.” . . .
Parmley served as national president of the Young Democrats of America from 1999 to 2001, then becoming executive director and chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party until 2005. . . .
In 2005 he left Oklahoma to become a Mississippi state liaison to the Democratic National Committee under chairman Howard Dean, during the former Vermont governor’s 50-state strategy campaign. He took a similar role in South Carolina in 2007, and became executive director of the South Carolina Democratic Party in 2009. In May 2011, the North Carolina Democratic Party hired him as its executive director. . . .
“I met him — I was a student in college and he was my American Government professor,” she told TheDC in a phone interview. “Upon completing that class, we started dating. We dated for a little over three years.” . . .
Around October 2006, after more than 14 months of a long-distance relationship, Parmley became “debilitating[ly] sick” in Mississippi, she said.
Former Mississippi Democratic Party chairman Rickey Cole told TheDC that he and his wife took Parmley to the hospital “because he had lost a great deal of weight and couldn’t keep anything in his stomach.”
And then came Thanksgiving, when Burgin said she was hit with the news that would change her life forever.
“He had called my parents and asked them that they call me and have me come over,” Burgin said, “and that I needed to call him. And so I called him, and it was at that point that he told me the doctors had tested him for HIV. And that he was HIV positive. And that I needed to be tested.” . . .

Notice that Parmley was employed at the top levels of the Democratic Party — as national director of Young Democrats, in Oklahoma, Mississippi, South Carolina and North Carolina — for more than a dozen years before his sexual predations were publicly exposed.

Indeed, according to Burgin’s account, top Democratic officials knew Parmley was HIV-positive more than five years ago, which might have been seen as a huge clue that Parmley was up to no good.

Of course, such an interpretation — that AIDS infection might be evidence of dangerous proclivities — could be seen as “discrimination,” and Democrats consider discrimination a greater danger than an incurable sexually-transmitted disease. And remember that when Parmley was accused of sexually harassing a 26-year-old male aide, North Carolina Democratic Party officials tried to cover it up with a financial settlement, even though Parmley’s high-risk behavior had already victimized at least one other young person. Also remember, as Ed Morrissey says, to keep Rebecca Burgin in your prayers.
