The Washington Post Is Not Objective, According to Soros-Funded Group

The top headline at Memeorandum:

Washington Post Discards All Journalistic
Standards In Attack on Social Security

This article is from a shady left-wing group, the Center for Economic and Policy Research, whose funders include George Soros’s Open Society Institute, as well as the Ford and Rockefeller foundations among other tax-free “philanthropies.” The target of the CEPR’s wrath is an article by Lori Montgomery:

The debt fallout: How Social Security
went ‘cash negative’ earlier than expected

Evidently, Montgomery tells a story that contradicts the preferred narrative of the Left, because the CEPR’s attack on her was seconded by Paul Krugman, David Atkins, John Amato, et al., who would have us believe that there is no fiscal or actuarial problem with Social Security.

No, according to the voices of the United Liberalism Tabernacle Choir, it all boils down to a simple slogan: We Need More Taxes on the Evil Rich.

What If Everything The Left Has To Say Is Pure Crap? UPDATE: A Shiny New Word

by Smitty

Pick the issue:

  • Anthropogenic Global WarmingClimate Change
  • Sovereignty
  • Borders
  • Raaaaacism
  • Entitlements

and now

  • Income Inequality

Whatever the Left seems to spew seems R – O – N – N – G – G wrong!
From the American Enterprise blog, building upon Census Bureau data, we find that:

According to three different Census Bureau measures, income inequality in America increased only gradually from the 1960s through the mid-1990s, but since then has remained relatively constant. Therefore, the factual record of income data in the United States certainly doesn’t support the claims that income inequality has “exploded” recently. A more accurate description of income inequality over the last several decades would be to say that it “flat-lined” starting in about 1994.

On the one hand, it it still crucial to kick the tires on what we think, lest we fall into ideological idiocy like the Left.

On the other hand, it is increasingly tiresome when those offering criticism do so in what appears to be consistently bad faith.

Update: I’d like to coin a neologism: hypodrachmaphobia (n)
The fear that somebody else might be making more money than you, triggering a strong urge to covet, followed next by hate and then a compelling need to get a tax law passed that will help redistribute some of that bad, bad capital your way.

Update II: Linked at The Rio Norte Line, with a fine survey of Michelle Obama campaign hijinks.

Great Advertising Gimmick; Also, Stupid

by Smitty

One cannot fault their capitalism.

Proudly announcing a ‘Real Food Revolution – Paleolithic cuisine!’, there is no cheese, bread or sugar available, only fare accessible to our hunter-gatherer ancestors more than two million years ago.

How, short of a time machine, do we really know anything about what went on that long ago, pray tell?

It’s not to say that archeologists are stupid or anything, but we tend to assert that the ancients didn’t know much until we find some evidence that shows people were not morons before Isaac Newton. Flipping the discussion around, if there was evidence that they had produced a Taco Town Taco, would that make the ancients smarter, or dumber?

Looked at yet another way, if the Noble Savage Myth is valid, why aren’t these #OWS losers really going primitive? Put up or shut up, clowns.

FMJRA 2.0: Technical Difficulties

— compiled by Wombat-socho

Unfortunately, one of the casualties of our server move this week was the sooper-sekrit software which makes doing the FMJRA merely difficult instead of damn near impossible. Smitty is working on the issue, but for now the best I can do is list our top linkers:

  1. The Pro From Poca (12)
  2. The Camp Of The Saints (10)
  3. Herman Cain PAC (9)
  4. (tie) Daily Pundit and Conservative Commune (7)
  5. (tie) Lonely Conservative and Nice Deb (6)
  6. (tie) Da Tech Guy, Pirates Cove, and Wintery Knight (5)

Also, we scored four Instalanches this week, which did VERY nice things to the hit count.

Also also, thanks to Proof Positive and Dell Hill for mailing in their links this week.

Hopefully we’ll have this little problem resolved by next week; in the meantime, if you’re on Blogger or LJ  or something else that WordPress hates, please e-mail me your links by November 4 with “FMJRA” or “Shameless Blogwhoring” in the subject line. Thanks to everyone for their linkagery!
