Democrats: The ‘Free Money’ Party

Posted on | September 14, 2021 | Comments Off on Democrats: The ‘Free Money’ Party

You probably recognize the woman on the right in that photo, but who is the woman on the left? That’s Damara Holness, 28, former president of the Broward County (Florida) Democratic Black Caucus. Holness’s father is Broward County commissioner Dale Holness, who is one of several Democrats running for the congressional seat vacated by the death in April of Rep. Alcee Hastings. Dale Holness’s campaign slogan is “Prosperity for All,” and look what his daughter’s doing:

Federal prosecutors have charged 28-year-old Fort Lauderdale, Florida resident Damara Holness with lying on a coronavirus relief loan application and fraudulently obtaining hundreds of thousands of dollars intended to help small businesses financially survive the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the information filed [in August] in federal district court in Fort Lauderdale, in June 2020, Holness applied for a $300,000 forgivable, federally-guaranteed Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan on behalf of Holness Consulting, Inc., a Florida company that she owned. It is alleged that to justify the requested loan amount, Holness claimed in the on-line loan application, and through supporting fraudulent payroll tax forms, that her company employed 18 people and spent an average of $120,000 each month on payroll. In fact, Holness Consulting had zero employees and no payroll expenses. A bank in Georgia approved Holness Consulting’s PPP loan application based on the lies and wired $300,000 to the company’s bank account in Florida, says the information.
Once the money hit the bank account in July 2020, Holness spent the next few months creating a paper trail to make it appear as if Holness Consulting had employees and was spending the PPP money on legitimate, approved expenses, it is alleged. According to the information, Holness issued checks from the company bank account made out to others who agreed, for a fee, to help with the fraud. At Holness’ direction, the people receiving the checks would endorse and return them to Holness. Then, Holness would cash the checks at the company’s bank, give a few hundred dollars to the check endorsers, and keep the rest of the cash for herself – about $1,000 per check, says the information.

Of course, Damara Holness is to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but her own father threw her under the bus, claiming he had been “estranged” from his daughter for years — despite the fact that she listed his real estate office as her business address.

The PPP program was targeted for billions of dollars in fraud. One estimate is that 15% of the loans, about $76 billion, were fraudulent. Hundreds of people have already been charged, but as Jenny Sugar, assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, recently said, “I think that we are going to be investigating these cases for years to come. “But we’re likely just scratching the surface. I think there’s going to be a lot more fraud uncovered as before.”

Aside from the fact that one of the track names fits the FMJRA all too well all too often, the whole album is just a fun collection of weird little musical pieces that always make me smile when I’m in a foul mood. Serial Inseminator Arrested in Knoxville

Posted on | September 12, 2021 | Comments Off on Serial Inseminator Arrested in Knoxville

Perhaps you have forgotten the name Desmond Hatchett, who was the subject of a manhunt in Tennessee. Let me refresh your memory:

Tennessee made headlines as the Deadbeat Dad Capital of the World a few years ago. The story started in May 2012 with Desmond Hatchett, 33, of Knoxville, who had reportedly sired 30 offspring by 11 different women. WREG-TV quoted Hatchett: “I had four kids in the same year. Twice.” When that story drew nationwide attention — “Tennessee Baby Machine Is A State Inmate” was the Smoking Gun headline — a Memphis TV station did some checking with local court records and discovered that Terry Tyrone Turnage had spawned 23 children with 17 different women, while Richard M. Colbert was the father of 25 children by 18 different women. Then in 2013, a Nashville TV station reported that Orlando Shaw, 33, was the father of 22 children by 14 different women. “I was young and ambitious, and I love women,” Shaw told WTVF. “You can’t knock no man for loving women.”
In case you lost count: 4 men, 60 women, 100 children.
None of these serial inseminators was a “father” beyond the mere facts of biology. They were not capable of paying child-support adequate to the needs of their offspring, nor did they support the “baby mamas” who incubated their seed. Various taxpayer-funded government programs — Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, public housing, AFDC, etc. — make possible such reckless sprees of irresponsible procreation. Any student of sociology would expect that when these children are old enough to reproduce, they will do so in similarly disordered ways. And this is what feminists call success.

There are varying estimates of the number of children sired by Desmond Hatchett, and when police issued warrants for his arrest in March, WVLT-TV reported that the serial inseminator only had 21 offspring:

Police said Desmond Lanier Hatchett, 41, of Knoxville, Tennessee is wanted on charges related to rape, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, and aggravated robbery stemming from a domestic incident that happened in the 100 block of Dew Drop Lane on February 11, 2021.
WVLT discovered Hatchett has over 100 previous known charges. He is also the man who fathered 21 kids and couldn’t afford to pay child support in 2009.
Hatchett is described as standing 6’0″ and weighing 220 pounds. Anyone who sees him or knows where he may be is urged to call 911.

Hatchett was arrested last Sunday, after a high-speed pursuit:

Officers spotted a red Ford Taurus known to be occupied by Hatchett and attempted to initiate a traffic stop with him. Hatchett fled from officers at a high rate of speed, according to KPD.
Officers initiated their emergency equipment while on N. Mary Street near Magnolia Avenue, but Hatchett continued to flee from officers for several minutes until he came to a stop in a driveway in the 4100 block of Skyline Drive and fled on foot, KPD said.
After a brief foot pursuit, officers took Hatchett into custody without further incident, according to KPD.

This menace to society is now behind bars where he belongs. No word yet on whether he impregnated any more women while he was at large.

Jacksonville State Stuns FSU 20-17 With Last-Second 59-Yard Touchdown Pass

Posted on | September 12, 2021 | Comments Off on Jacksonville State Stuns FSU 20-17 With Last-Second 59-Yard Touchdown Pass

Damond Philyaw-Johnson’s game-winning TD.

As they say at Jax State, “Fear the Beak”:

Jacksonville State pulled off a miraculous victory over Florida State on Saturday night when quarterback Zerrick Cooper found Damond Philyaw-Jackson for a 59-yard touchdown on the final play of the game to lift the Gamecocks to a 20-17 win. The play marked the first time that Jacksonville State, an FCS team, ever led against its ACC foe.
The loss for FSU came just five days after it fought Notre Dame to the wire before losing in overtime and capped a wild day in college football. The reception was the first of the game for Philyaw-Johnson and the longest play from scrimmage for the Gamecocks, who lost their opener to UAB 31-0 on Sept. 1
Jacksonville State scored on its last two possessions of the game, both drives going more than 80 yards in length, to roar back from a 17-7 deficit. The Gamecocks got the football back with 1:32 remaining and two timeouts at its own 17-yard line after Florida State elected to punt instead of going for it on fourth-and-2 from its own 44. The Seminoles also faced a third-and-1 on the previous play, but running back Jashaun Corbin was tackled for a loss to force FSU into the fourth down play. A first down would likely have cemented the outcome in FSU’s favor.
Afterwards, Jacksonville State players celebrated the stunning result by planting their flag in the middle of Florida State’s field. . . .
With its final 59-yard game-winner, Jacksonville State outgained the Seminoles 350-335 for the game and notched a victory that will go down in program lore.

All y’all know me as a ’Bama fan, but I’m actually an alumnus of Jacksonville State, a campus known as “The Gem of the Hills,” about 90 miles west of Atlanta, in the foothills of the Appalachians. JSU’s most famous alumni is probably Randy Owen, lead singer of the group Alabama, along with Pulitzer-winning journalist and author Rick Bragg.

Oh, wait — I almost forgot Rick and Bubba!

Fight on! Fight on for ole Jax State!
We’re proud that we’re from Alabama!
Fight on, now don’t you hesitate,
Courage, pride and honor
will lead you on to victory, so
Fight on! Fight for the Red and White!
We’re gonna howl tonight!
Come on! You Gamecocks,
Fight and see,
That we will win the victory!

Jax State began its history as State Normal School — a teacher training institution — and its College of Education continues to be the core of its academic program, along with business, nursing and law enforcement. They’ve got the greatest marching band on the entire planet. In football, the Gamecocks won four consecutive Ohio Valley Conference championships (2014-2017) and in 2015 made it to the FCS national title game before losing to North Dakota State. Before moving up to FCS (which used to be Division I-AA), JSU was a Division II program, and won the Division II national championship in 1992.

JSU beat Ole Miss in 2010, but this win over FSU was something else:

The two players who connected on the winning touchdown both began their careers in the ACC. Cooper — who completed 17 of 38 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns in the game — is a Clemson transfer, while Philyaw-Johnson came to JSU from Duke.
The game-winner was Philyaw-Johnson’s only catch of the game. JSU’s other touchdowns came on a 2-yard run by Josh Samuel in the first quarter and Cooper’s 23-yard pass to Ahmad Edwards with 4:45 to play.
Florida State then drove the ball to its 44, but punted on 4th-and-2. It took the Gamecocks nine plays to move from the 17 to the 41, and Cooper threw three consecutive incompletions before the game-winner.

So, to recap 2021: Joe Biden is allegedly president, the Taliban have taken back Afghanistan, and JSU beat FSU. Craziest year, ever.
