Man Arrested at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Is Chubby Incel Philosophy Professor

Posted on | April 20, 2019 | Comments Off on Man Arrested at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Is Chubby Incel Philosophy Professor

Marc Lamparello was arrested Wednesday as he tried to enter St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York with four gallons of gasoline. Because it was the same day Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris burned, people obviously feared some kind of terrorism, but it turns out Lamparello is from a devoutly Catholic family in New Jersey, a Boston College alumnus who was music director of a Catholic church and had taught philosophy at Seton Hall, a Catholic university. So, no “Allahu Akbar” here.

No motive is known. Lamparello tried to lie his way out of it after he was arrested, claiming his car had run out of gas (it hadn’t), and that doesn’t explain the lighters he was carrying. However, it is known that Lamparello had been arrested Monday at Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, in Newark, N.J., after he refused to leave, which may indicate he had some kind of personal psychiatric crisis. And his postings on a Reddit forum indicate what his problem was:

In August, he wrote about his own appearance, “I’m going through a phase. After not giving a sh*t about my appearance for 20 years, I’ve swung in the opposite direction. Now, I’m very vain and appearance-obsessed. I’ve lost 70 pounds, 25 more to go. . . .”
He also wrote about struggling on a dating app, “Honestly, I’m getting murdered on Tinder. It’s a total self-esteem killer. I’m a pretty in-shape guy, and I’m going for in-shape women who are a little attractive, and have a few nice features. Not models, but just generically attractive women. I’ve ‘swiped right’ on 500+ women. So far, not a single match. Depressing. I think I should probably give up on dating for the time being, and focus really hard on school and work and saving up as much as I can for plastic surgery. Based on the consults I’ve had with my plastic surgeon, I’m confident I can go from a 4/10 to a 7.2–7.3/10. That’s what I’ll focus on now.”

So, he’s an “incel” who can’t get laid, and blames his appearance.

His mistake was so obvious, you might think a guy who graduated Phi Beta Kappa in philosophy could have figured it out, but no. His pursuit of what he calls “generically attractive women” on Tinder was an error, but he was unable to process the feedback accurately. Why do people use dating apps? Because they’re losers — nobody who knows them in real life is willing to date them. If you’re successful, popular and attractive, you don’t need Tinder (Bumble, OKCupid, etc.) to find a date. The world of online dating is composed entirely of losers, and if you encounter a woman on Tinder who is “generically attractive,” you’ve got to figure she’s damaged goods somehow, but then again, what about you?

You’re 37 years old and you’ve got no other options? L-O-S-E-R.

Forget about “generically attractive women,” a complete loser like Marc Lamparello should be grateful for any female companionship at all.

By the way, it’s not your looks to blame. Not really. However physically unattractive you might be, somewhere there is someone even uglier than you who’s managed to find somebody to date. Why? Because they were willing to accept whoever they could get, and be grateful for it. Also, they probably didn’t wait until they were in their 30s to hit the panic button.

Human mate-selection is like a game of musical chairs. Beginning around age 15, couples begin to pair up and, while these couples may break up, with the individual partners then re-entering the dating pool, even in the 21st century many people still marry their “high school sweethearts.” The median age at marriage has increased, but if you’re still unattached at 25, you should be concerned, especially if you don’t have a track record of previous romantic success. Like, it’s one thing to be a guy who had a steady girlfriend in high school, but you broke up after you went to college and met somebody new, and then that didn’t work out, so you find yourself single in your early 20s. The feedback isn’t completely negative, you’ve been successful with women in the past, and you’re still fairly young. But if you didn’t have a high school girlfriend, or if your previous relationships ended because she dumped you, rather than vice-versa, your prospects are less encouraging. And the older you get, the more your chances diminish, because the pool of available partners is continuously shrinking, with people getting married and having kids. Oh, sure, many of those marriages will end in divorce, but guess what? A divorced mother of two isn’t interested in dating a 37-year-old loser who’s living with his parents in New Jersey. Nobody is interested that guy, honestly, and so the moral of the story is, don’t be a loser.

There’s no real secret to success involved. The problem with losers like Marc Lamparello is that they miscalculate their chances, failing to properly analyze the feedback — dude, you’ve got zero chance with “generically attractive women” — so that they refuse to lower their expectations to a reasonable level. This happens to women, too, although female losers tend to have somewhat different narrative arcs. In general, however, unattractive people are likely to end up alone if they refuse to “settle” for whatever romantic opportunities they can find, because they believe they are entitled to more attractive partners.

It’s like Elliot Rodger, who became fixated on the idea that, as the “Supreme Gentleman,” he was entitled to date skinny blonde sorority girls. You don’t need a Ph.D. in psychology to understand why this is so crazy. It’s basic market economics — the supply of skinny blonde sorority girls is limited, and the demand is nearly infinite. You mighty suppose the basic principle involved would be apparent to a Phi Beta Kappa philosophy major like Marc Lamparello, so that he wouldn’t have needed to “swipe right” on more than 500 Tinder profiles to figure out he had no chance with “generically attractive women.” Young people need to be warned they are living in an age where romantic success is increasingly difficult to obtain, in large part because addiction to online media — video games, Netflix, YouTube, pornography, etc. — have caused so many people to withdraw from real-life social interaction. The less time you spend in face-to-face human contact, the more your social skills deteriorate and the more unrealistic your expectations become.

Why are so many Millennials unable to adjust to real life? Isn’t it because their parents, who didn’t grow up in the social-media universe, were not cognizant of the dangers posed by this digital vortex of craziness and isolation, and thus failed to warn their kids to avoid it?

Hey, kids, log off once in a while. Maybe go run a mile or two, hit the gym, ask your buddy to go hang out at the local sports bar for Happy Hour. Talk to some actual human beings face-to-face for a change. And stay away from the craziness out there. Crazy People Are Dangerous.

by Smitty

I got accused of “hot mom privilege” today by Timmy today.

He’s a year older than me. Last week Billy stayed over and we were up all night playing Halo Wars 2 and mom came down in the basement in her nightgown to tell us to turn the game off and get some sleep and Billy hasn’t shut up about it since.
So Timmy wanted to come over and play Halo and meet mom also but I have to admit I’m a little creeped out by this.
At least Billy has an older sister to crush on.
But come on: moms?

Trump Trolls His Media Enemies

Posted on | April 19, 2019 | Comments Off on Trump Trolls His Media Enemies

Today, while liberal pundits were going wall-to-wall on the cable-news panels denouncing Trump as an obstructor of justice, our Commander-in-Chief flew to Florida and played golf with Rush Limbaugh. That’s a brilliant move. Nothing enrages liberals more than to see conservatives having fun, which is why I try to be ostentatiously happy. Thursday morning, I made a point of saying I didn’t really care about the Mueller report, since I’d long ago concluded that the whole thing was a sham.

Nevertheless, some commentary seemed necessary:

For approximately 3 million people, nothing in the Mueller report could exonerate President Trump of “Russian collusion,” obstruction of justice, and various other high crimes and misdemeanors of which they are certain he is guilty. For those 3 million people (a number reflecting the combined average weekday primetime audience of CNN and MSNBC) Trump’s guilt is an indisputable fact, his presidency an ongoing crime against humanity, his 2016 election a fraud. In a nation of 325 million people, of course, 3 million is less than a single percentage point. However, that hard-core audience of obsessive Trump-haters includes every Democrat in Washington and the vast majority of our nation’s journalists, university faculty, and other such members of the intelligentsia. Therefore, their deranged idée fixe has enormous influence, calling into existence a sort of anti-Trump industry that manufactures a constant output of rage-inducing propaganda. The CNN/MSNBC bubble is the cable-TV equivalent of a cult compound, where dissent from their political religion is forbidden. For the past two years, the fanatics have been told every night by Rachel Maddow, Don Lemon, et al., that the final destruction of Trump was at hand — “the walls are closing in!” — and the left-wing faithful awaited their deliverance from the evil man in the White House.
“Orange Man Bad” — that’s a shorthand label for the anti-Trump mentality, coined by an anonymous contributor on a Reddit forum in 2017, mocking the robotic mindlessness of the president’s enemies. No fact that might contradict their Trump-hating beliefs has any validity to them, because Orange Man Bad. By obverse principle, anything done to harm Trump or his supporters, including libel and violent assault, is considered legitimate, because Orange Man Bad. Living inside a media-generated echo chamber where everyone shares their simplistic worldview, the Trump-haters tune in nightly to their MSNBC/CNN religious revival and are catechized, so to speak, with the latest reiteration of the Orange Man Bad gospel. . . .

Mueller? Mueller? Mueller?

Posted on | April 18, 2019 | 2 Comments

Washington, D.C., is going insane in anticipation of today’s release of the Mueller report, but honestly, I find it difficult to care. More than a year ago, I came to the conclusion that Robert Mueller’s “investigation” was actually a cover-up, intended to conceal or distract attention from the real scandal, i.e., that the Obama administration had authorized intelligence agencies to spy on Donald Trump’s campaign. We cannot expect Mueller to actually admit this in his report, of course, and so whatever’s in this 400-page document, it won’t be an admission of the truth — that Mueller was appointed after Trump fired FBI director James Comey because people in the intelligence community were afraid Trump would discover and reveal the extent of illegal and/or corrupt activity by the Justice Department, the CIA, etc. Meanwhile . . .

BATTLE OVER EDITS!

WASH POST: Mueller decided he could NOT come to conclusion on obstruction, was difficult to determine President’s intent… MORE

Redacted report ready for consumption…

Ken Starr Fears Anti-Trump Screed…

Dems, Republicans poised to pounce…

IT’S NOT OVER: Pelosi, Schumer call on Mueller to testify…

Those are the top headlines at the Drudge Report this morning, and we will await a 9:30 a.m. press conference by Attorney General Bill Barr, which has enraged Democrats like Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who says Barr is trying to put a pro-Trump “spin” on the Mueller report. And . . .?

Like, how dare a Republican engage in “spin”? Only Democrats are allowed to “spin” the news! It’s all so incredibly absurd . . .

She Took the ‘Cool Mom’ Thing Too Far

Posted on | April 17, 2019 | Comments Off on She Took the ‘Cool Mom’ Thing Too Far

So cool, she’s going to prison:

A Tulare woman who plead guilty to multiple sex-related charges involving two teenage boys was ready to accept her sentence Monday, but a Tulare County judge put a stop to it.
Now, instead of serving a possible year in county jail, Coral Lytle, 41, could be sent to prison for 17 years.
Lytle was charged with 21 felony counts, including unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation and contacting a minor for sex. Court records show the incidents happened in 2017 between Sept. 27 and Oct. 4. The teenage boys were friends of her daughters, prosecutors said.
Judge Joseph Kalashian on Monday reviewed the probation department’s report and decided against imposing the indicated sentence. Judges can propose an indicated sentence as a way to give defendants an idea of what their punishment would be if they plead guilty.

The boys involved were ages 14 and 15, freshmen at Redwood High School. She and her husband Eric Lytle have four children. After she was arrested, Eric Lytle filed for divorce. Now let me ask a question: Why would a 40-something mom be interested in 14- and 15-year-old boys?

Having written up several cases like this one over the years, I have my own explanation for why some women are attracted to teenage boys, but I’ll let the commenters offer their own explanations.

Who Is Funding Anti-Semitism?

Posted on | April 17, 2019 | 1 Comment

One of the most remarkable claims the Left has made recently is that criticism of George Soros is an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory. Yet it is not a theory, but a matter of fact that Soros is an enemy of Israel, and that the left-wing billionaire has funded efforts to undermine Jewish conservatives and sabotage critics of radical Islam:

A massive hack of socialist billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Foundations [in August 2016] suggests that his various nonprofit organizations are little more than fronts for his many political activities. . . .
The hack by a group called DC Leaks, includes 2,576 files from various Soros groups from 2008 to 2016. . . .
In one of the purloined memos from 2011, titled “Extreme Polarization and Breakdown in Civil Discourse,” a nonprofit Soros group proposes conducting opposition research on a number of highly prominent American critics of radical Islam, including Pamela Geller, Frank Gaffney and Robert Spencer. It also targeted conservative activists and intellectuals David Horowitz, Daniel Pipes, Cliff May and former Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter, Liz Cheney. All of them are strongly pro-Israel and have warned about the threat of radical Islam.
The memo suggests that the research was outsourced to the Center for American Progress (CAP), a leftist think tank that has “received millions of dollars in grants from Soros’ groups,” the Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross reports.
Oh yes, CAP also happens to have been founded by John Podesta, Hillary’ Clinton’s campaign chief. . . .
Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post notes that some of the hacked emails show that the Soros Open Society Foundations’ stated goal was “challenging Israel’s racist and anti-democratic policies,” in part by “questioning Israel’s reputation as a democracy.” This is an old Soros trick: He spends money to delegitimize governments and others with whom he disagrees. . . .
In yet another revelation from the doc-dump, a memo called the “List of European Elections 2014 Projects” details the elaborate efforts of Soros’ well-funded global network to manipulate election outcomes in Europe. The memo includes over 90 Soros projects in Europe to influence election outcomes.

If it hadn’t been for Trump winning the 2016 election, Soros would have an ally in the White House, and much of the extremist rhetoric from the Left — smearing Trump supporters as anti-Semites and racists — is driven by the propaganda machinery that Soros has funded. Ace of Spades has remarked, “It’s weird that George Soros funds antisemitism and then cries ‘Antisemitism!’ when he’s criticized.”

Despite this well-documented history, no one on the Left criticized the Soros-funded, Clinton-connected Center for American Progress until they made the mistake of attacking Bernie Sanders:

Presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is slamming the Center for American Progress (CAP) for its ties to big banks and big corporations and claims the leftist think tank that supported Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign is trying to derail his 2020 bid for the White House.
“The Center for American Progress is an organization whose massive annual budget is bankrolled by billionaires and corporate executives that profit from finance, pharmaceutical companies, fossil fuels, and sending American jobs overseas,” the statement from the campaign says. . . .
“They also took hundreds of thousands of dollars from the fossil fuel pumping United Arab Emirates while the country was bombing innocent civilians in Yemen — a war Bernie has led the fight to end,” the statement says. . . .
The email says, in part:

This week, an organization that is the epitome of the political establishment — the Center for American Progress (CAP) — unleashed and promoted an online attack video against Bernie. . . .
CAP’s leadership has been pretty upfront about their disdain for Bernie — and for all of us. They see our political revolution as a threat to their privilege and influence.

Establishment Democrats are freaking out that Bernie might get their nomination, but why? He’s not more left-wing than, say, Pete Buttigieg. Is it because Bernie is old? Joe Biden is old, too, but there’s no “Stop Biden” movement. Or could it be because Bernie is Jewish? And notice who gets quoted by the New York Times:

“There’s a growing realization that Sanders could end up winning this thing, or certainly that he stays in so long that he damages the actual winner,” said David Brock, the liberal organizer, who said he has had discussions with other operatives about an anti-Sanders campaign and believes it should commence “sooner rather than later.” . . .
Mr. Brock, who supported Mrs. Clinton’s past presidential bids, said “the Bernie question comes up in every fund-raising meeting I do.”

Yes, David Brock, head of the Soros-funded Media Matters, but far be it from me to suggest that this is a conspiracy against Bernie.

Police Hunt Deranged Teenage Girl Obsessed With Columbine Massacre

Posted on | April 17, 2019 | Comments Off on Police Hunt Deranged Teenage Girl Obsessed With Columbine Massacre

Crazy people are dangerous:

Schools in Colorado have closed after a woman ‘obsessed’ with the Columbine massacre bought firearms and threatened a similar atrocity – as the FBI continues to hunt her.
Authorities are looking for Sol Pais, 18, who is said to have traveled to Colorado from Miami on Monday night and bought a pump-action shotgun and ammunition.
All schools in the Denver area were urged to tighten security because the threat was deemed ‘credible and general,’ said Patricia Billinger, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Public Safety.
Now, multiple schools in the area have cancelled classes for Wednesday as the search for Pais continues. . . .
The teenager’s father, Gardi Pais, 58, has urged her to return saying that family has not heard from her since Sunday after Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they were hunting the teenager.

Who is this girl? Sol Pais is the daughter of immigrants from Argentina. She lives in Surfside, Florida, near Miami. Her father is a guitarist who teaches music lessons. According to Heavy.com, she had a website where she posted dark messages, e.g. “Being alive is f*cking overrated,” and references to “this poison that is the human race.”

What happens to kids like this? How is it that someone who grows up in sunny South Florida can develop such a dark worldview?

UPDATE: She apparently committed suicide, a self-inflicted gunshot.
