The Original Moonbat Professor: Update on the Insanity of Deborah Frisch, Ph.D.

Posted on | June 26, 2017 | 1 Comment

“While I am not qualified to make a professional diagnosis, it has long been my personal opinion that Doctor Frisch is deranged, demented, bonkers, wacky, off her rocker, and cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.”
Robert Stacy McCain, Sept. 24, 2016

Before the era of #GamerGate and Twitter bans, before the onset of Trump-is-Hitler madness, there was Deborah Frisch, Ph.D.

Once a tenure-track professor of psychology at the University of Oregon, in July 2006 she was in a $32,861-a-year adjunct (part-time) position at the University of Arizona when she decided to post threatening comments against Jeff Goldstein’s son on his Protein Wisdom blog:

An adjunct professor at the University of Arizona has resigned after her threatening comments about a Web logger’s two-year-old son created an online uproar.
Self-described left-wing psychology instructor Deborah Frisch escalated a foreign policy argument with blogger Jeff Goldstein last week, writing that if “someone shot you and your ‘tyke’ it wouldn’t slow me down one iota.” She also wrote that she hopes “no one Jon-Benets” the child — a reference to the brutal murder of a young Colorado girl ten years ago — and made disturbing sexual remarks about the boy.
Frisch, who stepped down after her department was flooded with e-mails, has apologized to Goldstein, but tells Inside Higher Ed that the real issue is “how these rabid, crazy, right-wing nutcases have stalked me, told on me, reacted totally out of proportion to a joke in bad taste.”

Notice that Dr. Frisch portrayed herself as the victim in this situation which she herself had caused. If she was a victim, if the real problem was those “rabid, crazy, right-wing nutcases,” then we might expect that, after this unfortunate misunderstanding of her “joke in bad taste,” Dr. Frisch might have thereafter gone on with her life as a law-abiding citizen.

Alas, no.

Once a moonbat, always a moonbat, it seems.

Over the past decade, Dr. Frisch has accumulated a fantastic record of legal troubles. In April 2015, she was released from jail and then re-arrested on a new charge a few hours after her release when she made a false police report. By September 2016, she had moved to Southern California, where she was residing when she CC’d me (!!!) on an email making false accusations against various people, which caused me to predict “that if Dr. Frisch continues this lunatic behavior, pretty soon someone will report her to California authorities, and put them in touch with authorities in Oregon (where Dr. Frisch’s probation doesn’t expire for another six months), and it’s going to be handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit for the kooky professor, IYKWIMAITYD.”

That prophecy didn’t take too long to fulfill, although not in the exact way I’d predicted. In November 2016, authorities in Weld County, Colorado, issued a felony warrant against Dr. Frisch for stalking and threatening. This was followed by her next arrest Nov. 11:

Deborah Frisch is arrested in Yreka, California on a drunk and disorderly behavior charge. She is held at Siskiyou County Jail pending extradition to Weld County Colorado for felony charges. . . .
[In December] Frisch is extradited to Weld County Colorado to stand trial on various criminal charges. She is jailed at Weld County Jail over Christmas and New Year’s. . . .
Released from Weld County Jail [in February 2017] after 90 days, criminal stalker Deborah Frisch moves to a cheap inn in Greeley Colorado and promptly resumes her habits of harassing and threatening citizens, law enforcement, and criminal justice officials. . . .
After a weeklong binge of stalking, harassing and threatening people, Colorado Offender 278185 Deborah Ellen Frisch is arrested for violating her bail. She is jailed again at the Weld County Jail.

When last heard from, Dr. Frisch faced a March 16 hearing in Weld County and, considering that no one seems to have heard from her since then, we may conclude that she is currently still in custody in Colorado.

Why is Dr. Frisch’s lunatic behavior relevant? Because she is certainly not the only dangerous moonbat in academia:

Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, has fired an adjunct professor after she defended a blacks-only event during a heated interview on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Lisa Durden was suspended with pay two days after her June 6 appearance but was fired following a public meeting with school officials last week, NJ.com reported. The college’s president announced the decision Friday.
“The college was immediately inundated with feedback from students, faculty and prospective students and their families expressing frustration, concern and even fear that the views expressed by a college employee (with influence over students) would negatively impact their experience on the campus,” college President Anthony Munroe said in a statement.
“The college affirms its right to select employees who represent the institution appropriately and are aligned with our mission,” his statement read, in part. “The character of this institution mandates that we embrace diversity, inclusion, and unity. Racism cannot be fought with more racism.”
In her Fox News interview, Ms. Durden defended a Black Lives Matter group’s decision to host a blacks-only Memorial Day celebration in New York City.
“Boo hoo hoo, you white people are angry because you couldn’t use your white privilege card to get invited to the Black Lives Matter’s all-black Memorial Day Celebration,” Ms. Durden told Mr. Carlson, who called her views “separatist” and divisive.

Meanwhile, in Delaware:

A US college professor who suggested Otto Warmbier “got exactly what he deserved” has lost her position at the University of Delaware.
Professor Katherine Dettwyler recently posted a Facebook status about Mr Warmbier, the 22-year-old college student who died after being held in captivity by the North Korean government. . . .
In a since-deleted Facebook post, Ms Dettwyler reportedly compared Mr Warmbier to her own students who “cry about their grades because they didn’t think they’d really have to read and study the material”.
“His parents ultimately are to blame for his growing up thinking he could get away with whatever he wanted,” she continued, according to the Philly Inquirer. “Maybe in the US, where young, white, rich, clueless white males routinely get away with raping women. Not so much in North Korea. And of course, it’s Otto’s parents who will pay the price for the rest of their lives.”
The professor reportedly doubled down on her stance in comments on a National Review article, writing that some of her students “think nothing of raping drunk girls at frat parties and snorting cocaine, cheating on exams, and threatening professors with physical violence”. . . .
“The comments of Katherine Dettwyler do not reflect the values or position of the University of Delaware,” the University said in a statement. “We condemn any and all messages that endorse hatred and convey insensitivity toward a tragic event such as the one that Otto Warmbier and his family suffered.”
The University announced on Sunday that they would not be rehiring the professor in the future.
Ms Dettwyler is a part-time, adjunct professor, meaning her termination is not subject to the same due process requirements as tenured faculty.

Meanwhile, at Yale University:

A dean at Yale who was placed on leave after she left online reviews recommending a restaurant for “white trash” customers and describing movie theater workers as “barely educated morons” has left her position permanently, a college official said.
June Y. Chu, who was appointed in May 2016 as the dean of Pierson College, one of Yale’s residential colleges, posted a series of reviews on Yelp that were published by The Yale Daily News last month with screenshots of 10 of them dating back to 2015. The newspaper said that the reviews had caught the attention of Pierson students and had circulated among them.
“If you are white trash, this is the perfect night out for you!” she wrote in one review, published under the name June C., about a local Japanese restaurant.
Another review, for a cinema, said of its concession workers: “So what they have is barely educated morons trying to manage snack orders for the obese and also try to add $7 plus $7.”

Do you notice a pattern here? All three of these fired academics are women, who seemed to think their hateful rants against white people — and specifically, in Professor Dettwyler’s case, against white males — were acceptable opinions. Why did they believe this? Because such opinions are indeed prevalent among faculty and administrators at American colleges, where these prejudices are considered to express “social justice.”

The prevalence of this left-wing prejudice is the subject of Scott Greer’s recent book, No Campus for White Men: The Transformation of Higher Education into Hateful Indoctrination. While conservatives have been focused on politics — electing officials and enacting legislation — the Left has been consolidating its death-grip on our nation’s education system.

No matter how many Republicans you elect to office, your children will still be educated by Democrats, and some of these left-wing totalitarians are dangerously deranged. Last month, Diablo Valley College instructor Eric Clanton was arrested for assaulting Trump supporters in Berkeley. Conservative students are threatened with violence on many campuses, and are “afraid to speak out” in their own defense. Left-wing students erupt in violence when conservative speakers are invited to campus, and even a liberal professor who supported Bernie Sanders is threatened when he disagrees with the student totalitarian mob.

“Politics is downstream from culture,” as Andrew Breitbart said, and our culture is being polluted by an educational establishment that is controlled by left-wing ideologues. Studies show that Democrats outnumber Republicans 12-to-1 on university faculties, the result of deliberate discrimination by administrators who have spent decades working to purge conservative viewpoints from campus.

It’s easy to laugh at a deranged nutjob like Deborah Frisch, Ph.D., but what is truly insane is that parents continue to pay tuition to send their children to be indoctrinated by professors who, as evidence suggests, are only slightly less crazy than the original moonbat professor.

Emergency Tip-Jar Appeal

Posted on | June 26, 2017 | 1 Comment

Going gonzo on the campaign trail in Iowa, January 2012.

Y’know, sometimes, I can almost sympathize with the socialist Bernie Sanders/Occupy Wall Street crowd — almost, I say, because it is morally wrong to scapegoat “the rich” (however one defines that term) for the problems of the poor which, at the present moment, is defined as . . . me.

To skip ahead to the bottom line, I need $300 today, and have every reason to hope that the tip-jar hitters will come through, as always.

Reader-supported journalism — a fee-for-service arrangement between the reader and writer — is an honest sort of capitalist transaction, and if it requires me occasionally to rattle the tip jar like an epileptic on meth, this is a small price to pay for editorial independence. Read more

Two things which immediately attract your attention when you arrive in Las Vegas are the huge quantity of good-looking women and the ubiquity of gun culture – billboards promoting gun shows, gun ranges, and the opportunity to fire fully automatic weapons are everywhere in Sin City. Look for the ‘Hate’ Label (or, Why Everybody’s a ‘Far-Right’ Extremist Now)

Posted on | June 25, 2017 | 2 Comments

Who is Kevin Panetta? He is the writer behind a comic book called Zodiac Starforce, which looks a lot like a ripoff of Sailor Moon, but that’s irrelevant to his role as a volunteer with the Thought Police. Panetta got more than 45,000 retweets and more than 80,000 likes for his assertion that disagreeing with SJWs is “just hate.” Notice his all-inclusive laundry list of Thought Crimes which, he declares, are not “political views” and therefore need to be silenced. Now ask, “What do these words mean?”

What is “racism,” and how is it to be distinguished from “white supremacy”? Or what is “sexism”? Is it “islamophobia” to point out that Islamic doctrine is both sexist and homophobic? And considering the conflict between transgender activists and feminists (e.g., Julie Bindel and Meghan Murphy), how do we unravel the separate strands of “just hate” to distinguish between “sexism,” “homophobia” and “transphobia”?

Is it even permissible to ask such questions? Are we allowed to question the SJW Thought Police about the definitions of “just hate” or (as I rather suspect) will we be condemned as guilty merely for questioning their authority to define these terms to suit their own purposes?

George Orwell wrote in Politics and the English Language:

In certain kinds of writing, particularly in art criticism and literary criticism, it is normal to come across long passages which are almost completely lacking in meaning. Words like romantic, plastic, values, human, dead, sentimental, natural, vitality, as used in art criticism, are strictly meaningless, in the sense that they not only do not point to any discoverable object, but are hardly ever expected to do so by the reader. . . . Many political words are similarly abused. The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies ‘something not desirable’. The words democracy, socialism, freedom, patriotic, realistic, justice have each of them several different meanings which cannot be reconciled with one another.

Allowing an explosive term like “white supremacy” to be redefined in such a way that anyone who criticized, e.g., the Black Lives Matter protests could be accused of it, is a very dangerous practice.

The progressive Left is using “hate” labels to prohibit rational argument about important issues of public policy. Go read Ryan Anderson’s critique of the transgender agenda, for example, and then tell me that his argument is “just hate.” SJWs are liars, trying to silence the truth.

Ryan Broderick’s Buzzfeed headline about “far-right activists” on YouTube focuses in the lead on Lauren Southern, a 22-year-old who is described by Broderick as “part of a sprawling new universe of far-right internet personalities who have aligned themselves with a ‘new right’ or ‘alt-right’ or ‘new far-right’ political youth movement.” Broderick’s article uses some not-very-subtle guilt-by-association to link Lauren Southern to personalities like Richard Spencer with whom she has no known association. Southern gained Internet fame a couple of years ago for declaring that the feminist movement doesn’t speak for her. She has since spoken out against unrestricted immigration, but is it necessarily “far-right” to oppose open-borders policies? Aren’t there legitimate social and economic issues involved in immigration policy that justify such opposition? Never mind such questions, Broderick declares Lauren Southern “dangerous,” more or less implying she’s a neo-Nazi, and at the end of his article, includes this paragraph:

Despite all of this, Southern still believes approaching far-right activism as a social media influencer is the way to go. She’s excited about recent controversies, like YouTube and Disney’s Maker Studios dropping video game YouTuber PewDiePie over anti-Semitic jokes, YouTube comedian JonTron doing interviews with Breitbart and far-right YouTuber Sargon of Akkad, or sexual education vlogger Laci Green making videos playing with alt-right themes. To Southern, these are signs that she’s on the right side of things.

You see the ransom-note method of links-and-ties Broderick is employing here. Lauren Southern is “alt-right” and is therefore “linked” to every other person who can be labeled “alt-right,” so that when Laci Green begins to have second thoughts about her SJW allegiances, this is portrayed as signifying that she is linked, for example, to the Etayyim Brothers whose shtick was to “take a camera into predominantly black communities in Brooklyn and antagonize residents.” This is a complete non sequitur, which Broderick throws into his article as part of his sloppy guilt-by-association smear. There is no reason to believe Laci Green would ever do such a thing, nor do we have any reason to think of the Etayyim Brothers as part of an “alt-right” to which Green (or Lauren Southern) belongs. But of course, Broderick is a hypocrite, throwing stones from a glass house, because a few years ago, as Ian Miles Cheong points out, Broderick produced YouTube videos in which “the BuzzFeed writer wore a Nazi uniform while brandishing a swastika on his arm alongside a man dressed as a Jewish prisoner.”

Well, nobody has ever accused Laci Green or Lauren Southern of brandishing swastikas in their videos, so maybe this “far-right” thing isn’t as dangerous as Buzzfeed would have us believe. However, by using the term “far-right” so haphazardly as to include anyone who doesn’t vote Democrat, left-wingers like Ryan Broderick are actually arguing for censorship. Lauren Southern is “dangerous” and she is “going to get people hurt,” Buzzfeed readers are led to believe, and isn’t Broderick suggesting that YouTube suppress her “far-right” videos? Isn’t he arguing that crowdfunding platforms like Patreon and GoFundMe should exclude anyone labeled “far-right” by the Thought Police? Banishing their opponents from online discourse, depriving conservatives of access to platforms like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, is very much a part of the SJW agenda, and they’re doing this the same way the Left has abolished free speech on campus, by making “hate” a synonym for “Republican”:

Anything that is not liberal is labeled “hate,” and anything which is not about promoting the Democrat Party is “right-wing” or “far right.” Any appearance on a college campus by anyone associated with conservative or Republican (i.e., “far right”) political ideas is funded by “right-wing billionaires,” and this “hate” is “putting students in danger.”
The Left deliberately encourages this simple-minded intolerance, demonizing their political opponents, even while they accuse Republicans of “extremism,” “hate” and being “ideologically driven.”

Because I have been exposing left-wing totalitarianism for years (and have, of course, been labeled a “white supremacist,” etc., for doing so), I am glad to see others finally becoming aware of the Thought Police tactics the Left employs to suppress online dissent. We’re all “far-right” now. Readers are invited to hit the freaking tip jar, while it’s still legal.
