“Down the hill, attendees at the World Economic Forum in Davos think they are the movers and the shakers. You have moved above them. Some appear to shake. I begin.”

Of the remaining nine lives beside the speaker, there was no fight left. Perhaps this meeting had had the effect of doing to the audience what Progressivism has done to society since, in the late 1800s, the undying evil cult that hates human freedom and self-governance had concocted the Progressive project to roll back all of the good done in the American Revolution.
The business of crushing the human spirit had been so much easier under absolute monarchy. Deriving a ruse like Progress, and perverting the intellectuals with the Utopian opiate of Marxism had proven a sickeningly easy vehicle for destroying Western culture.
The remaining members of the audience looked at the severed trophy decorating the table and knew that it referred to, accused, and ultimately hated them all. Distant muffled screams were audible. The speaker was moving toward a conclusion.

“Some of you look concerned. The means, as with sausage production, are indeed messy. You want a clean Newtonian view of society, and I have shocked you with the existential tragedy of quantum realpolitik.
The more idealistic among you, casting back your minds, may have misgivings about certain events. Shake it off.
We move past all of the aforementioned heat and strain required to smelt the metal of society.

We shall contrive to prove that we are benefactors who have restored to the rent and mangled Earth the true good and also freedom of the person, and therewith we shall enable it to be enjoyed in peace and quiet, with proper dignity of relations, on the condition, of course, of strict observance of all the laws established by us.
We shall make plain therewith that freedom does not consist in dissipation and in the right of unbridled license any more than the dignity and force of a man do not consist in the right for everyone to promulgate destructive principles in the nature of freedom of conscience, equality and the like,
that freedom of the person in no wise consists in the right to agitate oneself and others by abominable speeches before disorderly mobs,
and that true freedom consists in the inviolability of the person who honorably and strictly observes all the laws of life in common…

“Welcome, elite. The top six of the Human Union and the Committee To Harmonize Universal Law, today, form a new organization: CTHULHU,” he voiced each letter.

The nine survivors in the audience silently wondered who would go next, and how much longer the presentation could go on.
Various aromas from bodily functions began to mix with the smells of fear and death. The twelve original participants were now ten.
The other nine realized that their lives were as bankrupt as the world economy. There was no fight left in them.
There wasn’t much fight left in me, either, but I continue to make these notes with a sort of mad determination to ensure that someone else can read this and perhaps feel a glimmer of despair, too.

“Among the simplest expressions of the difference between ‘us’ and ‘them’ is the time frame in which we live.
Our targets, admittedly with our overwhelming, omnivorous, all-encompassing support, live in the present tense. If we can drive them to live at a frequency higher than paycheck-to-paycheck, we do. Progress in spraying credit wantonly about like a dog’s seed. Those working education have produced a particularly incompetent crop of ignoramuses. Bravo.
The proletariat, in a move claiming to aid the family, while producing additional demolition thereof, can now get sucked into mortgages effectively spanning generations. Those working the economics piece are to be commended for helping people pass on the chains.
In stark contrast to the external conditions,

…nowadays all internal loans are consolidated by so-called flying loans, that is, such as have terms of payment more or less near.

For the smarter member of the mob,

We shall replace the money markets by grandiose government credit institutions, the object of which will be to fix the price of industrial values in accordance with government views.

Government regulation will, of course, be used to worsen selectively overall conditions.
The fools don’t understand that the Federal Reserve Act, the Bretton Woods agreement, and then the move to abolish the gold standard have been the gradual abdication of economic sovereignty. There is no end to the amusement as some of the brighter amongst the cattle realize the true nature of the danger.”

The man spoke quickly, clearly, dispassionately, at the limit of what the recorder could write, thankful for previous experience with shorthand.

The Japanese man began to struggle, but the chair had a leg up on him. The struggle was brief.
The others in the room were now resigned to their fates. Hope had died with the Japanese man. It occurred to me that I may be rewarded for doing this writing by being allowed to keep my life. That life flashed before me, and the fragility of it all, the vanity of the material pursuits, suddenly hit me.
No, there wasn’t any hope. The speaker now ventured into a financiala note about CTHULHU.

“The genius of the financial aspects of our program is the way we employ complexity itself as a tool.
We’re increasingly under attack from slowly awakening numbers of the proletariat that the Information Age has not had the desired leveling effect on society.
Things are still far more hierarchial than technically necessary. Also, goverments continue to staff up, as opposed to automate.
Our minions

…whom we once upon a time advised should be distracted from State occupations by representatives receptions, observances of etiquette, entertainments, were only a screen for our rule. The accounts of favourite courtiers who replaced them in the sphere of affairs were drawn up for them by our agents, and every time gave satisfaction to short-sighted minds by promises that in the future economies and improvements were foreseen…

Economies from what? From new taxes? — were questions that might have been but were not asked by those who read our accounts and projects…
You know to what they have been brought by this carelessness, to what pitch of financial disorder they have arrived, notwithstanding the astonishing industry of their peoples…”
