Kimberlin v. Kimberlin: Tetyana’s Lawyer Defeats the Perjuring Criminal Sociopath

John Hoge has a brief preliminary account of today’s Maryland court hearing in the dueling actions between Tetyana Kimberlin and her estranged husband, convicted felon Brett Kimberlin.

Full transcripts of the proceedings and relevant background will be published in due time, but the most important lesson of today’s hearing is this: Kimberlin, a cunning and manipulative amateur “jailhouse lawyer,” is often able to get his way in court, not matter how wrong he is, but is generally unsuccessful against any client represented by an attorney who has studied Kimberlin’s legal tactics.

Zoa Barnes has beaten Brett Kimberlin before. Today, while the hearing could be called a draw — neither plaintiff got the protective orders they sought against each other — it was really a defeat for Brett in his persecution of Tetyana, who managed to put this in the record:

Zoa Barnes presented Tetyana’s case by calling her to the stand and having her explain how she met Brett at age 14 in Ukraine and how their relationship and marriage had flowed over the succeeding years. . . . When Brett tried to cross examine her, he kept stumbling over the rules of evidence and proper procedure.

Brett was a 40-year-old federal parolee when he went to the Ukraine and met the 14-year-old girl who became his wife. This is now a matter of public record, uncontradicted sworn testimony. How do Brett Kimberlin’s few remaining supporters expect to justify and defend such behavior by a “progressive activist”? Or did I overlook the part of the progressive agenda that endorsed Ukrainian child brides?

Do you want to see Tetyana Kimberlin vindicated? Do you want her to have the best possible legal assistance against Brett Kimberlin?

  1. Given that the progressive agenda seems to support NAMBLA, we really shouldn’t be surprised to see a lack of outcry against Ukrainian Child Brides. They are positively socially mainstream by comparison.

    Some alternatives:
    “It wasn’t spousal abuse spousal abuse.”
    ….crickets….
    “Brett Kimberlin supports other women’s right to choose. Tatyana is a pawn in the GOP’s War on Women!”

  11. Throughout most of history, 14 was an eminently marriageable age. It’s only in the last century or so that “advanced” societies have felt it necessary to artificially extend infancy into the third decade of life.

  12. It’s always refreshing to see a shit-heel like Brett get a virtual kick in the gonads by the court system. Thankfully Zoa got his attempted testimony thrown out (she objected to testimony by a convicted perjurer, which is prohibited by Maryland law) by the judge sustaining her objection.
    Remember, the wheels of justice grind slowly but they grind extremely fine …

  13. With the pedophilia information entered into the record, I hope there will be an investigation to make sure that Kimberlin & his photographer buddy (who was convicted of child porn) haven’t been up to anything illegal with children…

  14. When the average life-span is less than 40, sure 14 is a marriageable age. With life-spans exceeding 70, it is not. Advances in medicine and other areas of knowledge has resulted in the age of consent being set to societal norms. Only pedophiles wish for the “good old days”.

  16. Actually, with improved nutrition, etc. kids are hitting biological/sexual maturity at younger, not older, ages these days.

    I don’t “wish for the good old days” myself, but neither do I mistake drawing a number out of a hat and feigning outrage at anything involving a lower number for a “societal norm.”

  18. I just don’t agree with the good old days philosophy. Some things were terrific, but a lot of things were not. Our mores and the ways we raise our children have changed; not only did girls marry young because of shortened life spans, they married young because they had few choices and did not want to burden their parents. The bottom line is that TODAY, 14 is an inappropriately young age for marriage in the western world.

    In my book, if you feign indifference or otherwise do not actively work against pedophilia, your apathy and indifference make you at least an enabler if not a clandestine supporter.

  21. I agree. But I’d be hard put to find any respect in which Kimberlin ISN’T creepy.

    When I was a kid, a lady at our church celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary before she celebrated her 65th birthday, and she was far from the only one. But her husband was only a couple of years older.
