The Gruesome Ghouls of ‘Choice’

Everybody’s been talking about this story all day, but I don’t really know what to say except Planned Parenthood is organized evil. Anyway, via Memeorandum, here are the headlines:

Five Relatives Arrested in Texas Teen Abortion Horror; Dead Baby Burned

The perverted nightmare culture of Obama’s America:

A 14-year-old girl who was impregnated by a relative was beaten by four other family members to induce an abortion, Dallas police say.
After the eight-month pregnant girl delivered, the family tried to cover up the crime by burning the stillborn baby on a charcoal grill at a Pleasant Grove home, police say.
Cedric Jones, 27; Sharon Jones, 45; Cecila McDonald, 25; and Lonnell McDonald, 27, were arrested Tuesday on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity. . . .
The hours-long attack allegedly occurred in 2013, but the girl stayed quiet until another woman, who said she witnessed part of the assault, took her to a police station May 22.
The girl said she became pregnant after she was sexually assaulted by a family member in August 2012 . . .
She told police she was a virgin before she was raped and “did not tell anyone about the sexual assault because … she was embarrassed.”
Police said the girl’s relatives found out between January and March 2013 that she was pregnant and “became very nervous and were concerned about . . . [Child Protective Services] removing children from the residence,” the affidavit says.
Sharon Jones gave the girl “multiple doses of birth control pills, Plan B [emergency contraception] pills and cinnamon tablets . . . to abort the baby,” police said.
After the pills failed to induce an abortion, Cecila McDonald pinned the girl down while Lonnell McDonald began “repeatedly bouncing up and down” while sitting on the girl’s abdomen. He also is accused of kicking the girl repeatedly. . . .
Robert Joseph Cayald, 22, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. He is being held in the Dallas County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Deputy Chief Gil Garza said the family members who “took matters into their own hands” to abort the unborn child were cousins of the teen, who is now 16. He did not say how Cayald was related to the girl. . . .
CPS spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales said the agency has no previous history with the family.
She said in addition to the 16-year-old girl, six other children were taken into CPS custody Tuesday. They were the girl’s 15-year-old brother and 14-year-old sister and Cecila McDonald’s four children: a 9-year-old girl, 7-year-old girl, 6-year-old boy and 3-year-old boy.

The culture of death is pure evil. Democrats celebrate it as “choice.”

Rand Paul Is Not Stupid

“Turn the camera around,” as Andrew Breitbart said. Make the media’s bias the subject of discussion. Rand Paul did it right today:

Rand Paul says he doesn’t want to be grilled about abortion until Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz answers similarly tough questions. . . .
Paul, the Kentucky Republican senator who launched his 2016 presidential campaign this week, bristled at a question about abortion while talking with reporters in New Hampshire on Wednesday.
“Why don’t you ask the DNC, ‘Is it OK to kill a seven-pound baby in the uterus?'” Paul said.
His comment came after The Associated Press published a report that said Paul had ducked questions about his views on what exceptions — if any — he’d support if abortion were to be banned.

The media routinely ask Republicans these “gotcha” questions — in effect, acting as propaganda agents for the Democrat Party — while giving Democrats a free pass. Allahpundit:

The great majority of Americans oppose late-term abortion; the vast majority, maybe a unanimous majority at this point, of Democratic leaders support it without restriction. They are, without exaggeration, absolute fanatics on this subject.

Matt Vespa reports a poll: 52% of Americans say life begins at conception. This means 48% of Americans are wrong.

Oh No: Rachel Marie Stone Caught At Christianity Today Wielding An Airbrush

by Smitty

“I do not mean to excuse Sanger for holding these views, but I do want to give the charge of ‘eugenicist’ a more complete background,” writes Stone as she chooses to give a selective background of the inarguably racist, elitist and anti-Christian worldview of one of the leading members of the American Eugenics Society. (If she wanted a more complete background, she could easily have watched Maafa21 and gotten a thorough perspective on the mother of Planned Parenthood.) Instead, she proudly tweeted: “I am @amyjuliabecker’s blog today, defending #MargaretSanger and talking about how #birthcontrol saves lives.” (Thanks to SaynSumthn blog for screen grabbing the tweet!) Stone has since removed the tweet and later claimed she was never trying to defend Margaret Sanger.

Renee Ellmers’ Incoherent Logic

Do we want rapists to be prosecuted for their crimes? Yes. How can rapists be prosecuted, if their victims don’t report the crime? They can’t. It would seem logical, therefore, that anyone who wants to prevent rape would be in favor of incentives that encourage victims to report these crimes to police. But good luck explaining that to Renee Ellmers:

The debacle over an abortion bill quickly pulled from the House floor Wednesday didn’t have to happen that way, says Rep. Renee Ellmers, who started the rebellion against the measure to begin with. . . .
Ellmers supports banning abortion past the midway point of pregnancy — which is what the bill the House originally planned to pass Thursday would have done. But she wants it tweaked so that women who have been raped don’t have to report it to law enforcement before they can obtain an abortion.
The measure, which leadership still intends to bring for a vote at some point, would ban abortions past 20 weeks of pregnancy unless a woman has been raped or her life is in danger.
Ellmers said she’s pushing for removing the reporting requirement because it’s hard on women who may not want to notify law enforcement. A majority of rapes in the country go unreported, she noted.

We presume that Ellmers believes it is a bad thing that so many rapes go unreported, and this law would help encourage victims to report the rapes, so therefore . . .? What’s the problem here, ma’am?

“When we come off as harsh and judgmental, we stop that conversation and we’ve got to learn to be doing a better job,” she said.
And now that Republicans have majority in both the House and Senate, any legislation they pass must be carefully vetted to make sure it’s not viewed as harsh by women or young people, she said.

Oh, that’s it. She’s afraid of a perception.

It’s a public-relations problem. Also, it’s a problem of an education system that leaves people unable to think logically or to understand a logical argument. But people who don’t think logically vote Democrat anyway, so it’s not really a problem.

Maybe somebody should explain this to Renee Ellmers. Or else find a primary challenger who can understand basic logic.

The #MarchForLife2015 Thread

WASHINGTON, D.C.
The lobby and corridors of this hotel were crowded with Catholic school kids when we checked in yesterday. St. Vincent de Paul of Perryville, Missouri, was the most visible contingent — dozens of kids wearing blue-and-gold letterman’s jackets — but the annual March for Life brings groups from all around the country, not all of them Catholic. On my way down to the lobby to go out for a smoke this morning, I noticed one of the kids was wearing a nametag with the familiar Episcopalian (or Anglican) symbol: Red cross on a white field with the St. Andrew’s cross in blue. “Episcoplian?” I asked.

“Yes, sir,” the boy said.

“Wow, I didn’t realize there were still pro-life Episcopalians.”

Out on the sidewalk in front of the hotel, the boy joined a group of about a dozen kids, and I spoke to one of the adult leaders, who told me they are from St. Michael’s Christian Academy of San Clemente, California.

Seeing so many fine young Christians who support the cause of life is very encouraging to me. I’ve spent the past several months of researching radical feminism and being immersed in such evil can be psychologically disorienting. “Has the whole world gone crazy?” I find myself asking, knowing how many millions of taxpayer dollars are spent to propagate this weird ideology in colleges and universities. “Is our civilization utterly doomed?”

The March for Life reminds me that there is still hope. There are still people who have not been deceived and corrupted. Unfortunately, however, there is the problem of Congress.

Pro-life conservatives were livid this morning after the House GOP leadership demonstrated its incompetence yesterday:

Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the Supreme Court legalizing abortion on demand throughout pregnancy. The pro-life movement commemorates this day with marches, worship services and lobbying for bills to protect unborn children. Pro-lifers were promised by the Republican leaders they just helped elect and re-elect that the House of Representatives would pass a bill today banning most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, a point after which infants can feel pain and survive if born prematurely.
The legislation has been passed by the House in the previous Congress and is extremely popular in national polling. “One of the clearest messages from Gallup trends,” the polling firm reported, “is that Americans oppose late-term abortion.” A Washington Post/ABC survey showed that 64 percent of Americans favor limiting abortion at 20 weeks of pregnancy or earlier. . . .
We’re one of just a small handful of countries, including notorious human rights violators North Korea and China, that allow late-term abortion.
And yet somehow the Republicans managed to make a disaster of passing the bill. Instead of passing the legislation and sending it to the Republican-controlled Senate, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act was pulled at the last minute and replaced with a bill that bans taxpayer funding of abortion.
What in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks just happened? It takes a special combination of incompetence and cowardice to miss an easy lay-up like this, but apparently the new Republican Congress has it in spades. . . .
If Republicans can’t pass wildly popular legislation protecting innocent unborn children, what’s going to happen when they face difficult legislative battles? . . .

You can read the rest. What happened is that two Republican members — including Rep. Renee Ellmers, whose election campaign in 2010 I strongly supported — decided at the last minute that they didn’t like some language in the bill. The problem, as I see it, is not with the bill, and not even with Ellmers. The problem is that the leadership doesn’t know how to whip the caucus properly and make sure they’ve got 100% support on crucial votes. Tom DeLay never would have let a trainwreck like this happen. Organizational incompetence is perhaps even more dangerous than ideological wobbling in a situation like this.

Proverbs 29:18: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

The lack of vision among some of our leaders is disappointing, but the people who “keepeth the law” are still happy. When I went out for another smoke, I encountered a group of about 20 people from Voice of Truth, a church near the central Georgia town of Dublin:

Voice of Truth is a non-denominational church where the Word of God is taught and preached. The church was formed when several Christian families felt called by God to reach out to the unchurched in our community. God has blessed us and we have grown in a few short years to a congregation of more than two hundred.

Preaching the Word of God and reaching out to “the unchurched”? Of course God will always bless that kind of work. I spoke to the leaders of the church, including brothers Phil and Keith Mills. They hold to a very basic Bible-focused theology, the kind you don’t need a Ph.D. to understand. As they were ready to leave for the march, they asked me to walk with them a little way. Phil explained that he and his brother were once a couple of young hellbound sinners, “just as bad as we could be.”

“Yeah,” I said. “I used to be a Democrat myself.”

Your Future (or Lack Thereof)

“Male and female created he them” (Genesis 5:2) seems obvious enough. “Be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:28) is not a difficult commandment to understand or obey. However, in the modern world, so many people actually think they’re smarter than God that they manage to persuade themselves that extinction is “progress”:

A survey by the Japan Family Planning Association reported that over a quarter of men aged 16–24 “were not interested in or despised sexual contact.” For women, it was 45 percent…
Forty-nine percent of women under 34 are not in any kind of romantic relationship, and nor are 61 percent of single men. A third of Japanese adults under 30 have never dated. Anyone. Ever. It’s not that they’ve stopped “having sex”… It’s bigger than that: It’s a flight from human intimacy. . . .
The Japan Times . . . quotes the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research as saying that the country’s population is expected to decline between 26% and 38% by 2060.

That information comes from Mark Steyn, whose ancestors were on a first-name basis with the author of the commandments previously cited, and here’s more of the same:

“See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil . . . I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”
— Deuteronomy 30:15, 19 (KJV)

It’s really simple, but some folks think they’re smarter than God.

What To Think Of Kevin Drum

by Smitty

He ends his Mother Jones piece on abortion with:

So don’t tell me that all the conservative Christians in DesJarlais’ district believe that abortion is murder. They may say they believe it. They may even sincerely think they believe it. But they don’t.

I wouldn’t want to get all arrogant and presume to know what people in Tennessee think. Nor would I care to sound so certain about Drum himself: this is the internet, and people make all kinds of strong assertions due to sincere belief, to stir the pot, to vent, to laugh, to drive traffic.

For me, abortion is murder because there is no logically consistent point (as opposed to legally consistent) after a human’s DNA is complete at which to declare them “life”. The motives for allowing some legal fiction to creep in seem kinda fishy.
