Arianna Huffington’s Lesbian Daughter Recovers From Cocaine Habit

A couple years ago, Christina Huffington was hospitalized with respiratory problems after she went on a cocaine binge at Yale. She’d been addicted to coke since she was 16. She was also bulimic.

Now everything is OK, because she’s 24 years old and has a job as an editor at — you’ll never guess — the Huffington Post.

Also, she’s dating Sophie Watts, a film producer: “Christina and Sophie have been dating for a while, they’re very happy.”

As Failed Suicide Attempts Go …

. . . this was a particularly weird failure:

A rapper affiliated with Wu-Tang Clan was rushed to the hospital early Wednesday after he cut off his penis and then jumped off a second story balcony in what police believe was a suicide attempt … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
Our sources say … cops were called to an apartment building in North Hollywood at around 1:00 AM and found Christ Bearer — aka Andre Johnson — on the sidewalk critically injured. . . .
Johnson was rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. It’s unclear if doctor’s are attempting to reattach Johnson’s penis.

‘Huge Disappointment’: @LenaDunham Laments Her Own Heterosexuality

Where does a lifetime of liberal indoctrination about “inclusivity” lead young women? Feminist Heterosexual Guilt Syndrome:

Dunham shared her views on her lesbian sister and sexual attraction during an appearance at the Point Honors Gala at the New York Public Library Monday.

The “Girls” star thanked her sister Grace, now 22, saying, “I have always felt a strong and emotional connection to members of the LGBTQ community. It was actually a huge disappointment for me when I came of age and realized that I was sexually attracted to men. So when my sister came out, I thought, ‘Thank God, now someone in this family can truly represent my beliefs and passions.'”

It’s easy enough to wisecrack about this, but the sad reality is that feminist ideology does celebrate lesbianism as the ultimate in liberation and equality, so that Lena Dunham’s feminist “beliefs and passions” — the core tenets of her intellectual loyalty — are at odds with her personal preference for penis-in-vagina (PIV) intercourse that feminism condemns as violent oppression. (“PIV is always rape, OK?”) Perhaps you’ve forgotten the radical feminist who explained that their ideology is based on a rejection of the “sex role as fuckholes, breeders and slaves has been forced on us by men, and that this role is wholly unnatural to us.”

This pejorative description of women’s “sex role” may inspire mocking laughter, but it deserves serious critical scrutiny. What the radical feminist rejects is the idea of sexual dimorphism as a natural basis for the division of labor between the sexes. Students of design are taught that form follows function, and the observable differences between male and female constitute a sort of scientific argument for a differentiation of roles between them. The biological purpose of sex is procreation, and if we expect both parents to contribute to the survival of their offspring, the pair-bonding of parents into a permanent unit — the basis of the family — requires a system of cooperation. Viewing sex roles from this natural or biological perspective, we see that child-bearing and breast-feeding tend to inhibit the ability of mothers to work outside the home, at least until their children reach a certain level of maturity.

Advances in technology and the pervasive affluence of developed industrial economies permit us to ignore sexual differences — and the natural or biological basis of sex roles — to a great extent. If “work” consists mainly of sitting in front of a computer terminal, after all, there is no obvious reason that men and women should not be equally capable of such work, whereas in earlier societies, the male role as breadwinner depended largely on physical labor for which men’s greater upper-body strength made them especially suitable. Modernity makes it easy (especially for college-educated professionals who have never earned their living by manual labor) to forget that the superiority of masculine physical strength still matters, just as the development of technology — including cheap, reliable contraception — obscures the centrality of childbearing to women’s biological characteristics.

Anthropology, neuroscience and evolutionary theory all point in the same direction, namely that the differences between men and woman are not merely physical, but that the biology of the brain — including the influence of hormones on our behavior and emotions — also predisposes men and women toward different roles. Radical feminism rejects this view, claiming that apparent differences (e.g., women’s greater tendency toward nurturing) are “social constructs,” imposed on women by the oppressive patriarchy.

‘Please Be My Breeder-Slave’?

If you consider sexual desire and romantic love between men and women to be natural and healthy, you are not a feminist. Because male sexuality is violent and harmful, feminism teaches, women’s “emotional bond to men” is in fact a reaction to men’s “inescapable violence and oppression,” enabling men “to ensure our long-term submission” by “using us as their dick receptacles.”  There is nothing natural about sex, according to feminist ideology, no biological urge that causes women to be attracted to men. Indeed, feminism teaches, most women’s belief that they enjoy sex with men is the result of patriarchal brainwashing:

No woman is heterosexual. What men call heterosexuality is an institution where men make women captive for PIV, to control our reproductive functions and steal our labour. Heterosexuality, or sexuality with men does not exist, because the only relationship to men that exists is men’s violence, physical and mental invasion — one that men have so well crafted and disguised for so long that we can mistake it for attraction, sexual urges or love.  . . .
It’s part of the global male infrastructure that ensures men a constant supply of ready-tamed and pre-possessed women to effortlessly stick their dicks in, impregnate and abuse.

The penis is an instrument of male violence and intercourse is the means by which women are forcibly oppressed, according to feminism. If any woman believes she has “attraction, sexual urges or love” for a man, this belief results from a “mental invasion” by which “the global male infrastructure” trains a supply of women who can be “effortlessly” obtained as “penis receptacles” to impregnate.

Perceiving male sexuality as intrinsically harmful, and believing that normal women are victims of “heteronormative” brainwashing, feminists imagine the male proposition thus:

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
Please be my breeder-slave
And dick receptacle, too.

Such a crude derogation of men’s sexual desire is an insult to every woman who takes pleasure in her distinctly feminine role as wife and mother — and the insult is quite intentional, once we realize the extent to which feminism has been dominated by lesbians and abortion fanatics for decades. Overt hostility to men, marriage and motherhood are not recent developments in feminist doctrine, nor is feminism’s philosophical antipathy toward heterosexuality a “fringe” phenomenon.

Why else would Lena Dunham feel the need to express apologetic shame for her heterosexuality, if her feminist professors at Oberlin College had not taught her this sense of embarrassment at being helplessly brainwashed and voluntarily oppressed as a “dick receptacle”?

The War on Sexual Biology

Yet this phenomenon — Feminist Heterosexual Guilt Syndrome — is implicit in contemporary liberal culture, which holds that sex is merely a form of pleasure, without any spiritual or moral dimension, to be regulated only by mutual consent. Liberalism’s apparent neutrality toward the sexual preferences of consenting adults, however, is belied by the incessant cheerleading for contraception, abortion and homosexuality. Contraception and abortion are necessary to the liberal project of diverting women from the path toward marriage and motherhood by suppressing their natural fertility. And homosexuality is celebrated by liberals as part of the same project, to delegitimize the traditional family as a normative social institution.

As I said, feminist hostility toward heterosexuality “deserves serious critical scrutiny,” and this means asking ourselves what the consequences would be if, as they say, sexuality and sex roles are merely “social constructs.” Consider as a hypothetical that there is no biological impulse toward heterosexuality, no natural instinct or innate drive that directs us toward marriage and procreation.

If this were so — if sexuality is a “social construct” — then there would be no reason why, in a society free of “heteronormative patriarchy,” everybody should not be homosexual. Of course, that would result in rapid extinction of such a society, but if it is only social influences that shape our sexual behaviors, an entirely homosexual population is a theoretical possibility, at least for one final generation.

However, despite decades of pro-gay propaganda, a Gallup poll found that only 3.4 percent of the population identifies as gay.

It appears, therefore, that there may be some biological resistance to the gay agenda, some innate tendency toward heterosexuality. What has resulted from this gay propaganda is a situation in which the overwhelming majority of Americans — 96.6 percent — are subjected to routine and ubiquitous cultural celebrations of a sexual preference they do not share.  And this produces Feminist Heterosexual Guilt Syndrome, where straight women like Lena Dunham feel obligated to publicly denounce themselves for desiring sex with men.

This strange hostility toward viewing heterosexual behavior as natural, as a function of basic biology, also explains the attitude that led a Massachusetts college sex educator to complain:

I suppose I’ve been relying on students to find their own way to embracing biology as a valuable way to think about sex. But this point of view is so foreign to many of them, many of them Sociology or Women’s Studies majors who have never thought about sex in terms of biology or reproduction . . . And I suppose it was too much to ask that they get there on their own.
I wanted them to find their way to the notion that it’s not “heteronormative” to recognize that sex is an evolutionarily adaptive reproduction strategy that, in humans, involves males and females; it’s just our biology, and there’s a complex, mutually interacting relationship between the biological and the social. I’ve been working toward that all semester. But they have not gotten there.

Amazing! A biological view of sex — as simple as “Me Tarzan, you Jane” — is nowadays so alien to the worldview of college students that they reject it as being somehow anti-gay.

Given the prevalence of these weird ideas in academia, it’s  not surprising that many students are deeply confused about sex. If campus performances of “How to Be a Lesbian in 10 Days or Less” are regarded as routine at universities, how many more young women feel the same kind of “huge disappointment” as Lena Dunham? Alas, they still crave men who will use their vaginas as “penis receptacles”!

Well, form follows function. That’s what I learned in college.

“Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”
— Matthew 19:4-6 (KJV)

‘She Keeps Score’

“Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining,” Colonel Fletcher says in The Outlaw Josey Wales. For the benefit of those readers not fluent in Redneck, permit me to translate: “Don’t screw me over and pretend like you’re not screwing me over.”

Washington, D.C., is a town crawling with thousands of selfish, cowardly, dishonest, backstabbing piss-ants and — reflecting on my decision in hindsight — I often wish I’d never left Georgia in 1997. Where I come from, a man who does good work is respected for his abilities. In D.C., the only abilities that matters are skillful deceit and treachery.

“The Red Wedding” in Game of Thrones is a daily ritual in D.C.

When you’re in a fight — and I’ve survived a few — you find out pretty quick who your friends are, because they will rush in to defend you and won’t stop punching until the fight is over.

Every man is custodian of his own honor. If an honest man says he has been injured, who will tell him that he is mistaken? Nothing infuriates me more than when someone directly insults me, and then pretends that I am wrong to take notice of their insult.

“Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.”

Being a peaceful man by nature, there are many insults I choose to ignore, but when I deign to take notice of an insult, I don’t expect my friends to question my judgment. If I am wrong — if the person who dissed me is not a lowdown worthless polecat — time will tell, and the responsibility for the dispute is mine alone. Selah.

“Honor culture” is not something you need an anthropology class to learn if you’re from the South. The first warning you’ll get if you insult a man — or his girlfriend — is likely to be a punch in the nose, and it’s rather difficult to protest that you intended no offense while the man is kicking you in the head. (Being a natural-born smart-ass, I share this useful wisdom learned from direct experience.) The reasons for this redneck tendency to fight over perceived insults are deeply rooted in culture, and often lamented by critics of the South, but the alternative to an “honor culture” is the kind of dishonorable backstabbing that typifies life among the cosmopolitan elite, such as the cowardly scum of Washington, D.C.

If you volunteer to be a doormat, you can’t complaint about the footprints on your back. Ignore too many snubs and insults, and pretty soon you’ll be snubbed and insulted routinely. You will notice, then, that Michelle Malkin calls attention to how Frank Luntz and Kellyann Conway sucked up to Stephen Colbert after his stupidly insulting “Ching-Chong Ding-Dong” episode.

Really? I mean, really? In a fight between Malkin and Colbert, you’re gonna side with Colbert? Unfortunately, Luntz and Conway weren’t the only conservative to make that foolish mistake:

Last week, American Spectator contributor Bill Zeiser wrote a blog item with the unfortunate headline, “Michelle Malkin Is Wrong.” The topic of the dispute — Stephen Colbert’s tasteless use of anti-Asian slurs — is interesting, but ultimately irrelevant to the point I wish to make, for the sake of Mr. Zeiser and anyone else who may read this now or in the future: Michelle Malkin keeps score.
On your short list of “People You Never Want to Go to War Against,” be sure to include her name at or near the top, because Michelle Malkin will win that war.
Bill Zeiser is a young fellow, and perhaps did not consider the foolish impropriety of his gesture when he decided to draw attention to himself with such a headline as “Michelle Malkin Is Wrong.” It would be most unfortunate if The American Spectator were to become collateral damage as a result.
The topic of the dispute is, as I say, ultimately irrelevant to the nature of the insult. One may disagree without being disrespectful, and if Mr. Zeiser does not think Michelle Malkin deserves respect, then (a) he needs to do some research, and (b) he needs to consult a psychiatrist, because he’s crazy. . . .

Read the whole thing at The American Spectator. Zeiser expressed remorse on Twitter this morning, and perhaps The Boss will consent to let him live, but I hope the lesson is clear.

#LindsayOnOWN @LindsayLohan: When You Are Your Own Biggest Problem

Lots of people are enduring the car-crash fascination with the Lindsay Lohan rehab documentary series on the Oprah Winfrey Network. For some reason, my 11-year-old daughter Reagan has become a fan of the show, so that I end up watching it, too, despite the fact that I hate — absolutely hate — reality TV shows, except for programs like C*O*P*S or The First 48 where the “reality” isn’t a bunch of phony made-for-TV personal drama. In this respect, Lindsay is a strange hybrid.

On the one hand, the director is trying to make a legitimate documentary about the process by which a notorious celebrity trainwreck recovers from her latest toxic meltdown. On the other hand, there’s endless personal drama generated by the narcissistic nutjob at the center of it all.

So it was nice to watch Episode 3 where, after Lindsay had hamstrung production by refusing to allow the camera crew its scheduled access, Oprah showed up in person to chew her out:

“When you change a schedule, you know what happens. You’re a professional woman. . . . And it’s not just for you. You’ve got a whole team of people who are relying on you right now for this particular experience, for creating this documentary.”

Regular readers know I’m a huge fan of Christopher Lasch’s 1979 book, The Culture of Narcissism, which foreshadowed the entitlement mentality typical of the Millennial generation (see, for example, “Narcissism vs. Objectivity,” Feb. 15). A key trait of narcissists is their tendency toward blame-shifting, avoiding responsibility by blaming scapegoats for their problems. You see this over and over watching Lindsay. She has long since demonstrated that she is incapable of managing her own life. Yet when her remarkably patient personal assistant and others around her try to provide guidance, she erupts in tantrums, accusing these well-meaning people of being the source of her unhappiness, as though she hadn’t looked in the mirror recently.

Narcissism involves a concern with superficial image instead of fundamental reality, an obsession with seeming instead of being, and it is never pleasant to watch someone deal with the problems that invariably result. Only a sadist could enjoy seeing Lindsay Lohan spin wildly out of control, and these “starlet meltdown” tabloid dramas are mainly interesting to me as morality tales, e.g.: “And then the promiscuous celebrity coke addict lived unhappily ever after.”

But why bring up Charlie Sheen, eh?

Lindsay Lohan has been blessed with beauty, wealth and fame. It’s no fun to watch her throwing away happiness with both hands. And yet this is the car-crash-by-the-highway that Lindsay presents. Viewers are just rubber-neckers gawking at the carnage.

It’s wrong to say that Lindsay Lohan ever had a drug and alcohol problem. No, Lindsay Lohan had a Lindsay Lohan problem.

Even if she’s sober now, she hasn’t solved that problem yet.

Celebrity News: ‘Flamboyant’ Skater Johnny Weir Divorces His Gay Husband

Whenever I get bored with politics, there’s always the celebrity tabloid headlines at WeSmirch. Of course, most of these “celebrities” nowadays are reality-TV personalities you never heard of, and the stories are mostly exercises in trivial silliness.

Radar Online uses the stereotypical adjective “flamboyant” to describe former Olympic skater (and NBC Sports commentator) Johnny Weir, 29, who announced a divorce from Victor Voronov. Evidently, there were domestic violence issues in their relationship, including an incident when Voronov accused Weir of biting him:

About a month before the games in Russia, Weir’s husband filed a police report in which he alleged the three-time U.S. national champion of biting him.
Despite the allegations, the couple had appeared to have worked out their differences when they appeared in a Lyndhurst, New Jersey, courtroom, requesting a judge dismiss the case.
>Weir married Voronov in December 2011 and recently spoke about their dynamic relationship.
“A marriage between two guys is different than what I imagine a marriage between a man and a woman [to be],” he told Access Hollywood in February. “I mean, we’re both constantly trying to fight to wear the pants in the relationship.
“It’s constant fireworks,” Weir added. “It’s very boom, boom, boom.”

Uh, yeah. But if I said that — obviously, gay marriage is different — they’d call me a homophobic bigot. And “flamboyant”? Why don’t you just call him a mincing sissy and get it over with, Radar?

In other urgent celebrity news, Lindsay Lohan fired her $1,500-a-day “sobriety coach” as soon as she finished shooting her reality show for Opray Winfrey’s network, so expect her to start racking up DUI arrests and a trip back to rehab in the near future.

Also, Kim Kardashian got into some drama with her ex, Charlize Theron in a bikini, and Mick Jagger’s dead girlfriend.

Meh. It’s only slightly less boring than politics.

Who Is @LenaDunham’s Uncle and Why Does He Keep Making Her Get Naked?

Oh, it was just a joke, says the habitually naked HBO star, but why would she even have thought of a “joke” like this? Responding to someone on Twitter who criticized Dunham’s “branding” as The Unattractive Girl Who Is Always Naked, she responded: “Please tell that to my uncle, mister. He’s been making me!” Then she deleted the Tweet and explained it by saying she was just “sleepy” but . . .

Can we say issues, boys and girls? I think we can.

Twitchy points out that Dunham has made uncle molestation “jokes” before and — I think this is highly relevant — many women who identify as feminists (as Dunham adamantly does) have personal histories of previous sexual abuse, so that “the personal is political” becomes a way to make their grievances with specific victimizers part of an ideology that generalizes such abuse into a narrative of oppression. And if you dare to question the politicization of individual trauma, then you are a misogynist who is “blaming the victim.”

Let me digress briefly to remind you that (a) Democrats have signaled that they plan to recycle the “War on Women” meme for the 2014 mid-term campaign; (b) the whole Todd Akin episode in 2012 shows how Democrats routinely turn policy debates into discussions of rape and incest; and (c) the looming menace of Hillary Clinton in 2016 means that conservatives need to get serious about isolating feminist rhetorical tactics as an issue. But I digress . . .

When you scratch a fanatical feminist, a psycho nutcase bleeds.

That is to say, you will seldom encounter an outspoken feminist who isn’t on Prozac or some other medication to help her deal with her emotional issues. Crazy is as crazy does. To make yourself an advocate for the unlimited slaughter of unborn children is crazy and so, when we start noticing evidence that a feminist has “issues,” we ought not ignore it. You may remember the #StopRush fanatic Melissa K. Brewer, whose harassment of pro-life activists on Twitter led to her exposure as a convicted prostitute. Brewer’s defensive reaction? She’s a victim with psychiatric problems:

No matter how hard I tried to suppress it, I had underlying mental illness, and “looking normal” or “acting okay” never erased that desire to destroy myself, cut myself, or take my own life. . . .
Living with a secret mental illness isn’t easy. . . .
When I look back at it, it all feels like some surreal nightmare to me. My psychiatrist once told me that people with PTSD walk around with a feeling of “unreality” . . .
By the time I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, I had attempted suicide three times. . . .

Go read my October 2013 post in case you’ve forgotten who Melissa Brewer is and what Melissa Brewer did. However much sympathy we may have toward abuse survivors and the mentally ill, we cannot permit emotionally damaged people to exploit claims of victimhood as an excuse to inflict their craziness on the innocent.

This would be bad enough in any situation, but the victimology obsession of feminism enables outright craziness to infect our political discourse in a way that always favors Democrats — “The Pervert Party” whose advocacy of deviant sexual “liberation” is, in fact, directly implicated in the victimization of women and girls.

Virginia Democrat molested two little girls at
his 10-year-old daughter’s birthday sleepover

“Trigger alert,” as the feminists like to say.

There is a fundamental irrationality involved which becomes evident when the feminist argument is reduced to a syllogism:

  • A. I was molested as a child;
  • B. Rush Limbaugh is a Republican;
    and therefore
  • C. VOTE DEMOCRAT! BECAUSE RAPE!

If this sounds like hyperbole, you have not critically examined Melissa Brewer’s demented apologia, in which she says she “grew up with little to no sense of self-worth,” because she “had been molested by my father as a child” and she “was raped at age 17 while I was run away from home” and as a result she is certifiably crazy:

Living with a secret mental illness isn’t easy. Coping on a daily basis is nearly possible. You often end up being friends with people that are pretty much in the same situation that you are: self-hating, self-loathing, angry with the world, ashamed of their problems. Unable or unwilling to pinpoint the trauma they’ve experienced, or in some cases, put themselves through. (People with trauma issues tend to get into relationships that are toxic, turn to prostitution or despair, unknowingly from the underlying belief that trauma a “normal part of life.” If you spend the first 15 or so years of your life being abused, well..It becomes normal.) Drugs and alcohol can often numb the despair, dull the symptoms, and otherwise help you cope with day to day life. Drug and alcohol abuse enabled me to play the role I believed I was supposed to play in that world; party girl, crazy drunk, helpless addict, pathetic girlfriend who didn’t mind if you pushed her around, hit her, or called her names.

All of this may be true. However, one of the manifestations of Melissa Brewer’s mental illness is that she is a pathological liar, to say nothing of her narcissistic tendency toward self-pity and blame-shifting. Lots of people endure misfortune and hardship without turning their circumstances into an excuse for attempting to destroy the lives of innocent people who did them no wrong.

In April 2012, Melissa Brewer (then using @subculturestuff as her Twitter handle) was described as “one of the main instigators” of an attempt to get conservative activists banned from Twitter. Failing to learn from that episode, she continued her online harassment as @catsrimportant until someone figured out she was the same Melissa Brewer who, at age 28 in 2006, had offered herself on Craigslist as a prostitute providing “full service” for $200 an hour — with a convicted teenage sex offender as her pimp.

Exactly how does it make sense for this person, who by her own admission is mentally ill, to appoint herself as arbiter of who is allowed to participate in political discourse, filing bogus Twitter terms-of-service violation complaints against her chosen enemies in an effort to get their accounts suspended? Yet the rage of this madwoman was accepted by Twitter as a legitimate reason to punish sane people, because PROGRESSIVE! Because PRO-CHOICE! Because FEMINIST!

The irrationality of feminism explains how you get a sexual harasser like Bill Clinton being defended by Nina Burleigh: “I’d be happy to give him a blow job just to thank him for keeping abortion legal.”

I repeat: Crazy is as crazy does, and feminism is to crazy women what your front-porch light is to moths at night.

Are Lena Dunham’s perverted uncle “jokes” merely jokes?

Maybe, but maybe not. She’s a feminist who thinks it is “empowering” to get naked on cable TV every week and, based on years of observing emotionally damaged feminists in action, that kind of persistent craziness is usually the product of a weird background.
