Next time you hear a Democrat make that kind of argument, please keep in mind this headline from Ace of Spades HQ:

Or how about this for a book title?

“It Takes a Village to Rape a Child.”

Because, after all, it was Hillary Clinton’s State Department — indeed, her personal fixer — that tried to cover this up:

A [diplomatic security] agent was called off a case against US Ambassador to Belgium Howard Gutman over claims that he solicited prostitutes, including minors.
“The agent began his investigation and had determined that the ambassador routinely ditched his protective security detail in order to solicit sexual favors from both prostitutes and minor children,” says the memo.
“The ambassador’s protective detail and the embassy’s surveillance detection team . . . were well aware of the behavior.”

For the record, Gutman denies it:

“I am angered and saddened by the baseless allegations that have appeared in the press . . . at no point have I ever engaged in any improper activity.”

Translation: “You can’t prove it, hahaha!”

Exit Question: What Obama administration scandal is this Obama administration scandal supposed to distract our attention from?

 

Obama Keeps Lying; Reporters Don’t Care

Frankly, I don’t know which pisses me off more: Obama’s shameless dishonesty or the White House press corps’ evident indifference to truth. The Obama presidency has been one big lie all along, and by now there is not an honest or intelligent person who believes a word he says, and you might think that White House reporters would be so thoroughly fed up with his reeking bullshit, they would call him on it.

But no, their supine obeisance to the Hope and Change mythology has become so habitual that, even after he has been caught in lie after proven lie, they’re still rolling over like gutless punks.

Based on past experience, every time Obama begins a sentence by saying, “In fact …” or “The truth is …” whatever he says after that is going to be the exact opposite of fact and truth. This is how we now can be certain that the government is listening to our phone calls:

The only time Barack Obama has ever been within arm’s reach of the truth was when he was trying to strangle it with his bare hands. His name should be a synonym for deliberate deception. His presidency is a stain on the White House, and on the nation that elected him.

This Reign of Deceit cannot possibly end soon enough.

 


Doug Shulman: IRS Fall Guy?

Just a few thoughts while watching today’s House Oversight Committee hearings about the IRS scandal:

Schulman was caught in lie after lie after lie, saying he didn’t remember this or that, and then being reminded of his own previous testimony demonstrating either (a) he did know about what he denied remembering, or (b) his earlier denials were false.

And I think I wasn’t the only viewer whose head exploded when Shulman was asked why he made more than 100 visits to the White House in a single year and began his answer, “Easter Egg Rolls with my kids . . .”

This guy has refused to apologize for the IRS scandal. Exactly why the hell George W. Bush would appoint Shulman — a donor to the Democratic National Committee — to a five-year term as IRS Commissioner is one of the great mysteries of our age. Lois Lerner has pleaded the Fifth, and it’s basically impossible to fire anybody at the IRS, so if Democrats are looking for a scapegoat to throw under the bus, the “bipartisan” Shulman seems to be a likely fall guy.

On the other hand, Ezra Klein’s Juice Box Mafia seems prepared to throw Lois Lerner under the Obama bus, too.

Pretty serious stuff here, eh? If the latest reports are true, this is much more serious than who edited the talking points:

Ambassador Chris Stevens, killed along with three other Americans in the September terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, was reportedly attempting to buy back arms sold to Libyan rebels. Roger L. Simon of PJ Media reports that whistleblowers are prepared to testify that a State Department program of arming insurgents who overthrew Libyan dictator Moammar Gaddafi was the secret the Obama administration sought to conceal . . .
Such testimony, if verified, might help explain why Obama administration officials spent several days after the deadly Libyan attack — which occurred on the 11th anniversary of the 2001 9/11 attacks — promoting the falsehood that the four Americans killed in Benghazi died as a result of “demonstrations” inspired by a YouTube video.

You can read the rest at Viral Read and while, of course, I cannot vouch for information from Roger Simon’s sources, common sense actually argues on behalf of the story they’re telling, because this has been the Benghazi mystery all along: Why all the lies?

Was the State Department’s blame-the-video story just about protecting President Obama’s re-election chances? Maybe, but the intensity of the pushback seems a bit too much to be so easily explained by “politics as usual.” And this may be the Big Secret:

Stevens’ mission in Benghazi, [new whistleblower witnesses] will say, was to buy back Stinger missiles from al-Qaeda groups issued to them by the State Department, not by the CIA. Such a mission would usually be a CIA effort, but the intelligence agency had opposed the idea because of the high risk involved in arming “insurgents” with powerful weapons that endanger civilian aircraft.
Hillary Clinton still wanted to proceed because, in part, as one of the diplomats said, she wanted “to overthrow Gaddafi on the cheap.”
This left Stevens in the position of having to clean up the scandalous enterprise when it became clear that the “insurgents” actually were al-Qaeda – indeed, in the view of one of the diplomats, the same group that attacked the consulate and ended up killing Stevens.
The former diplomat who spoke with PJ Media regarded the whole enterprise as totally amateurish and likened it to the Mike Nichols film Charlie Wilson’s War about a clueless congressman who supplies Stingers to the Afghan guerrillas. “It’s as if Hillary and the others just watched that movie and said ‘Hey, let’s do that!’” the diplomat said.
He added that he and his colleagues think the leaking of General David Petraeus’ affair with his biographer Paula Broadwell was timed to silence the former CIA chief on these matters.

Oooh! Hillary and her staff ignored the CIA’s advice and decided — with presidential authorization, of course — to provide arms to these shadowy “insurgents” anyway? And also, maybe, the takedown on Petraeus was part of an elaborate effort to cover their tracks?

Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Nobody’s verified this stuff yet, but exactly what has Joe Curl been hinting at lately?

Care to guess where this stuff is leaking from? I could, but I won’t.

By now, you’ve probably seen the news:

Colleen Kelley, president of the National Treasury Employees Union which represents employees of the Internal Revenue Service, met at the White House with President Obama the day before two IRS officials created the “Sensitive Case Report” that targeted Tea Party groups for special scrutiny on their applications for non-profit status.
White House visitors logs show that Kelley visited the White House on March 31, 2010, to meet with Obama, a day before an Inspector General’s report shows that the “Sensitive Case Report” was created, Jeffrey Lord of The American Spectator reported . . .

And you might be surprised (but probably not) to learn that Colleen M. Kelley has never worked a day in the private sector:

[A]n NTEU member since 1974, Kelley was an IRS Revenue Agent for 14 years and served in various NTEU chapter leadership positions, including chapter president of NTEU Chapter 34 in Pittsburgh. She was elected National President in August 1999 and was overwhelmingly re-elected to a fourth four-year term in 2011.
Kelley first joined the IRS upon graduation from Drexel University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Pittsburgh.

You might also be surprised (but probably not) that Colleen M. Kelley and her union enthusiastically support Obama:

The leader of the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) today applauded the re-election of President Barack Obama.
“NTEU supported the re-election of President Obama as being in the best interests of our country and of the dedicated men and women of the federal workforce,” said NTEU President Colleen M. Kelley. “NTEU is also pleased that so many of our candidates for Senate seats and our staunchest supporters in the House won their races.”
NTEU’s efforts on behalf of President Obama and key candidates spanned the country. “Our 2012 election plan has been in place since the beginning of the year,” said President Kelley. “Many chapters and members were actively involved educating and organizing various types of activities around the country including candidate nights and volunteering for campaigns.”
NTEU’s efforts focused on battleground states where races for the presidency, Senate and House seats were competitive and where the union has substantial numbers of NTEU members including Virginia, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana.
In the days before the election, NTEU members volunteered for phone-banking and canvassing, with a particular focus on contacting other NTEU members and urging them to vote for candidates who support federal employees and federal employee issues.
“Federal employees heard our message loud and clear that everything about the lives of the federal workforce is determined by those elected to office,” said Kelley.

So, now you know who Colleen M. Kelley loves. You may be surprised (but probably not) to learn what happens to people she hates:

Shorter Dan Pfeiffer: ‘Your Partisan Questions Are So Largely Irrelevant and Offensive, I’m Not Going to Answer Them’

When the White House sent Obama’s senior adviser out to do five Sunday shows, his orders were obviously to claim that (a) only Republicans care whether the administration is lying about Benghazi, and (b) the answer to any question about Benghazi is “largely irrelevant”:

Wallace repeatedly asked Pfeiffer where the president was and what he was doing while terrorists were attacking the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. Pfeiffer refused to answer Wallace’s question of whether Obama entered the White House Situation Room during the Sept. 11 attack, saying, “I don’t remember what room the president was in on that night, and that’s a largely irrelevant fact.” . . .
On CBS Sunday, Pfeiffer said that the question of who edited the administration’s “talking points” about the Benghazi was “largely irrelevant.”

The Obama answer to everything: “Shut up, Republicans!”

Notice who is included in the Memeorandum aggregation on Daniel Halper’s Weekly Standard story: Rick Moran at PJ Tatler, Scott Johnson at Power Line, Ann Althouse, Doug Brady at Conservatives4Palin, Dan Riehl at Riehl World News, William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection and Andrew McCarthy at National Review. In other words, not a single liberal blogger or journalist considers it newsworthy that Obama’s senior adviser refused to say where the president was on the night of the Benghazi attack. This strategy of ignoring the obvious functions as a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy: If Democrats don’t pay any attention, interest in the administration’s scandals is therefore, by definition, strictly a Republican affair, and . . . “Shut up, Republicans!”

Tautologically confining any scandal to the category of “partisan fishing expeditions” (another Dan Pfeiffer talking point) does not, however, work as an explanation: If the answers to these questions are “largely irrelevant,” why won’t Pfeiffer answer the questions?
