#OWS Protester Discovers Free Speech Doesn’t Cover Firebombing Macy’s

Man identified by police as Nkrumah Tinsley, 29

Not the sharpest tool in the shed:

A protester was arrested in Zuccotti Park Wednesday after he threatened to fire bomb the city — and his rant went viral on YouTube, police said.
Nkrumah Tinsley, 29, was busted after cops saw a video of him claiming he would torch the city during Thursday’s mass protest posted online, police said.
“On the 17th (of Nov.), we’re going to burn New York City to the f—ing ground,” an angry Tinsley told a crowd of demonstrators in the video posted on Tuesday.
“In a few days, you’re going to see what a Molotov cocktail can do to Macy’s.”
When officers from the NYPD’s intelligence division saw the video, they immediately began working on trying to identify the raging man, police said.

And now, the exclamation point on the sentence:

Tinsley’s parents described their son as mentally ill and [said he] recently started leaving the family’s University Heights, Bronx, home to support protesters downtown.
“I was really happy — he was going meeting people and talking to others, instead of sitting in his room talking to himself,” said his father, James Jacob, 66.

I’m sure the Occupy Wall Street leaders will seize on this datum to say, “Well, see, he really wasn’t one of us. He just showed up.” Except for the fact that, while Nkrumah was ranting, he was collecting high-fives from those around him:

What does it say about your movement when your protests attract 29-year-old schizophrenics who would otherwise be at their parents’ homes, sitting in their rooms, talking to themselves? Or perhaps sitting in Congress, talking to the media.

UPDATE: John at Verum Serum compiles a list of reported crimes involving the “Occupy” movement. Has it occurred to anyone — it has certainly occurred to me — that a movement which attacks capitalism and condemns profit as theft must necessarily, by its essential nature, be lawless?

To argue (or to chant) that private property is illegitimate, and that the rich should be viewed as predatory criminals, is a message guaranteed to attract the very worst sort of people with the worst sort of motives.

Maybe The Cleanup Crew Can Work On Julian Pecquet’s Head After Zuccotti Park

by Smitty

What a nauseating bucket of drool at The Hill:

Pecquet Smitty
Democrats on Capitol Hill are worried that the Supreme Court will rule against President Obama’s healthcare reform law. The SCOTUS will rule in favor of the Constitution and liberty. Liberty, Mike Foxtrot: do you speak it?
Over the last couple weeks, congressional Democrats have told The Hill that the law faces danger in the hands of the Supreme Court, which The New York Times editorial page recently labeled the most conservative high court since the 1950s. No the SCOTUS is supposed to protect the Constitution. Also, you seem to have conflated Appeal to Authority with Appeal to Clowns. You see, nobody that gives the likes of Krugman or Brooks the space to peddle idiocy has any credibility.
While the lawmakers are not second-guessing the administration’s legal strategy, some are clearly bracing for defeat. Why should the administration, which peddles policies of failure, of which ObamaCare is just a particularly egregious example, expect to do anything but fail here? Does the administration actually want to succeed, and have the ObamaCare albatross perch upon #OccupyResoluteDesk? BHO, admittedly, whitewashes everything, but I’m not sure this was the whitewash which he sought.
“Of course I’m concerned,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). The justices “decide for insurance companies, they decide for oil companies, they decide for the wealthy too often.” What is that supposed to mean? If the Justices are deciding cases based upon anything other than law, in the service of justice, then, by all means: let the Justices be impeached. Or did you read such drivel in the New York Times, Brown? Sure, Kelo, but does anybody doubt that the main beneficiaries of ObamaCare are the crony capitalists friends of the Administration?

The Daily Pundit piles on as well.

A less idiotic take over at the WSJ, emphasis mine:

The Supreme Court has agreed to decide whether ObamaCare is constitutional, granting certiorari in a case brought by 26 states shortly after that law was enacted in March of last year. In so doing, it will be ruling upon the very nature of our federal union.

One might be tempted to think that our leadership would agree. Yes, ObamaCare is a Big Biden Deal. So why did the Democrat-controlled Congress trie to back-door the legislation, and not offer an Article V convention? I sort of know the answer, but that is a rhetorical club with which these Progressive hacks should be flogged on a more or less endless basis.

Still more at Hot Air, which notes the following about Elena Kagan, whom I’ll dub #OccupySCOTUS:

Kagan has been exceedingly conscientious about recusals, perhaps more so than necessary. It’s safe to say that such scrupulous adherence to the judicial canon will work in her favor when she argues — or more likely her defenders, as Kagan is unlikely to directly address these calls — that she has no need to recuse herself in this case.

Ah, yes: play scrupulously by the rules, so that you have something at which to point when it’s time to cheat. The Lefty evil can at least be elegant upon occasion.

When the history of this administration is written, ObamaCare shall have proven the Battle of the Bulge. 2012 will be anything but boring.

NYPD Clears Out Occupiers

About damned time:

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on Tuesday defended his decision to clear the park in Lower Manhattan that was the birthplace of the Occupy Wall Street Movement, saying “health and safety conditions became intolerable” in the park where the protesters had camped out for nearly two months. . . .
“New York City is the city where you can come and express yourself,” the mayor said. “What was happening in Zuccotti Park was not that.” He said the protesters had taken over the park, “making it unavailable to anyone else.”
The mayor’s comments at a City Hall news conference came about seven hours after hundreds of police officers moved in to clear the park after warning that the nearly two-month-old camp would be “cleared and restored” but that demonstrators who did not leave would face arrest. The protesters, about 200 of whom have been staying in the park overnight, initially resisted with chants of “Whose park? Our park!”
The police commissioner, Raymond W. Kelly, said that nearly 200 people had been arrested, 142 in the park at 50 to 60 in the streets nearby. Most were held on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Via Memeorandum. Isn’t it weird that, in a city of 8 million people, a few hundred “Occupiers” could be portrayed as the spearhead of a broad-based popular movement? I mean, it’s almost as if there were some kind of bias in the media coverage or something.

On Cue, Some #Occupy People Came By

by Smitty

I’ve been in Philadelphia since Wednesday, while Mrs. Other Smitty attends a conference. My main job, other than blogging, has been to watch The World’s Youngest Blogger.

We’re across the street from City Hall in Philly:

That statue of William Penn atop the building had its peace disturbed this afternoon by what may have been a portion of #OccupyPhilly at around ~1630 local. I asked the girl at the desk of the Residence Inn if that was in fact the #Occupy crowd, and she was of the opinion that this was not all of them. Apparently, the suction cup does not know what the tentacle is doing in this ‘leaderless’ outfit, so little sub-groups may be on independent ops. The little camera lacks a good microphone, so you have to crank it up to catch the drums.
They could not muster enough sound to wake up the World’s Youngest Blogger, who woke up later, in time for their second pass at ~1715. They didn’t really build up their attendance at all.

Update: CBS 3 reports that #OccupyPhilly was protesting Comcast, which apparently has not made enough inner children in #OccupyPhilly smile lately. They are not planning to depart when their permit is to expire.

Denver Post Quotes @DaTechGuyBlog About @OccupyDenver at #BlogCon11

The authoritative source:

More than a dozen protesters who say they are part of Occupy Denver disrupted a conservative blogger conference in downtown Denver this afternoon and one man was led away in handcuffs, witnesses say.
Information about the man who was arrested for trespassing was unavailable but witnesses at the Blogcon 2011 conference say he shoved a police officer who was trying to clear the group of out of the lobby at the Crowne Plaza hotel.
Attendees of Blogcon say they knew Occupy Denver was going to try to disrupt their conference because the group had advertised their intentions on Twitter. . . .
The disruption began around 2 p.m. during a data visualization seminar in one of the ballrooms. A few of the protesters tried to charge the ballroom doors to get inside. . . .
But people attending the conference had already started to notice unusual activity by a number of people in the hotel’s lobby and they began to film them, said Peter Michael Dominic Ingemi, a talk show host.
“They started bantering back and forth,” he said. “We all had video. They were filming us and we were filming them.”
Occupy Denver protesters yelled out “We are the 99 percent” and Blogcon attendees yelled back “We want the dog!”

Pete is, of course, Da Tech Guy, who tells the story of the Occupy invasion and includes this video:

The Denver Post story also quotes Tabitha Hale, who hates me.

UPDATE: Conservative Hideout has more video, and we’re linked by The Lonely Conservative, who let me and Da Tech Guy crash at her house in October 2010 when we were covering Ann Marie Buerkle’s campaign.

UPDATE II: Welcome, Instapundit readers! When I talked to Pete earlier, he was puzzled as to why he wasn’t getting much traffic on his blog. Explanation: He had gotten in a hurry and misspelled Denver in the title. When he corrected the spelling, he changed the URL, so my link to him wasn’t throwing traffic. That’s been fixed, but he probably won’t notice my traffic now that he’s got the Instalanche, too.

Bob Belvedere at Camp of the Saints uses the word “soviet” to describe Occupy Denver and, if you know anything useful about Soviet history, you realize that his usage is accurate. Of course, nobody in the “Occupy” movement knows anything about the history they’re doomed to repeat — as farce, to quote their philosophical godfather.

#OccupyFail at #BlogCon11: What Fun!

For the second consecutive year, Tabitha Hale didn’t think I was important enough to be invited to participate on a panel at BlogCon.

Or maybe Tabitha just hates my guts.

Either way, she subsequently offered me a “scholarship” to attend BlogCon, a consolation prize I was too proud to accept.

Pity is no substitute for respect, and if nothing I have accomplished in the past three years is worth respecting, I’d rather not be there in person for a repeat of the humiliation Tabitha inflicted by leaving me off the BlogCon agenda last year.

Like I said, maybe she just hates my guts and I could deal with that, if she would admit that it’s her personal contempt for me that explained the repeated exclusions. Instead, she permits my peers (and readers) to believe that the exclusion represents the inadequacy of my professional accomplishments. People say I shouldn’t take it that way, but I can see no other explanation.

Either (a) my blog sucks or (b) my blog’s good and Tabitha hates me.

Anyway, the Occupy Denver crowd descended on the hotel where all the really important and popular bloggers are hanging out:

There’s about 20 of them. They’re fairly young and dirty and speak in a strange jargon like the Oasis Tribe in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Now they’re doing that “mike check” thing, and are chanting.
When the hell are the cops going to get here?

Also, when will the attendees at BlogCon realize that by confronting the Occupy scum, they’re imperiling their own health?

Good thing I’m not popular or important, or else I might be at BlogCon, contracting an incurable contagious disease.

UPDATE: Da Tech Guy risked his health by getting close enough to interview one of the Occupiers:

UPDATE II: Denver’s KUSA-TV reports:

DENVER – Denver Police responded to the Crowne Plaza Hotel Friday afternoon where several Occupy Denver protesters reportedly caused a disturbance.
According to reports, a group of conservative bloggers are at the hotel, which may have incited the chanting.

Did you catch that? The presence of “a group of conservative bloggers” at a hotel incited the disturbance — as if the Occupy Denver riffraff were just minding their own business until those nasty bloggers provoked them.

UPDATE III: The unpopular and unimportant Jeff Goldstein:

The Occupy Denver kiddies got wind of the conference and naturally have to protest it. Because, you know — well, because, uh, KOCH BROTHERS RACISM HATE HATE HATE!
Hundreds of bloggers with video-capable phones, and these morons decide we’re to be the target of their disjointed, intellectually scattershot “protests”?
That’s some strategy, that is.

UPDATE IV: “I am really starting to lose faith in the hippies of my generation.”

UPDATE V: Denver police: Not nearly brutal enough. Why aren’t they beating these hippies unmercifully?

Because hippies are white. And Denver cops are racist.

Refute that!

UPDATE VI: John Hawkins:

About 15 scruffy looking protesters arrived in the lobby with, as far as I can tell, no intention other than disrupting the conference.
They succeeded — but, not in the way they expected because after they started chanting, bloggers poured out of the conference to take pics and videos. Soon, there were 30 bloggers surrounding 15 Occupy people and chanting things like “We love Koch money” and “Breitbart, Breitbart!” There was lots of chanting, lots of yelling, and Steven Crowder got shoved by one of the female Occupiers.

Now a Memeorandum thread.

UPDATE VII: Sister Toldjah posts video:

UPDATE VIII: “Denver HS Teacher Brings Students to Join #OWS Mob As They Storm Conservative Conference (Video).”

Small Arms May Stop Spread Of Tuberculosis At #OccupyObamaVilles

by Smitty

Ladd Ehlinger seems surprised that anarchy, poor sanitation, and the onset of winter can lead to outbreaks of diseases like tuberculosis.

I disagree with those who said the Occupy movement was doomed at the first sign of winter. This is because I have never seen it as a grass-roots movement, but one cooked up by Obama’s OFA organization, in collusion with Anonymous and Lulzec members, and funded by all the usual suspects, including Soros. The reasons for the cooking had little to do with today’s politics, but the 2012 election, and scaring the bejesus out of soccer moms inclined to vote Republican.
Now an unlikely enemy has arrived to lay waste to these plans, the super-tuberculosis bug. Lie down with dogs, get fleas; lie down with Occupiers, and get both fleas and a disease that can’t be cured and may well kill you.

Via Althouse, there is also Zuccotti Lung, as this blog raises awareness of recent advances in our respiratory tract sickness choices.

These public health concerns may be mitigated somewhat by what seems to be a rash of shootings at ObamaVilles around the country. I was just wondering out loud on Twitter if the gun violence might not be a backup plan for the collapse of Fast & Furious. The American people must somehow be made to accept that the 2nd Amendment is as moot as the 10th Amendment if we are to reach the next stage of Holy Progress. Is it possible that the shooting victim in Oakland was a poet named Horst Wessel?

Is this all part of some grand scheme masterminded by #OccupyResoluteDesk? If so, then liberty-loving Americans must ponder, harden their resolve, and let their peaceful, patriotic actions answer the mail on this sad, creepy #Occupy movement.
