Democrats Implode in Louisiana

Ali Akbar, Anita Moncrief and other activists with the Black Conservatives Fund have been making a huge difference in Louisiana during the final weeks of the campaign leading up to Saturday’s election that will end the Senate career of Democrat Mary Landrieu.

However, as much credit as is certainly due to BCF, the real credit goes to the Democrats themselves, who simply weren’t ready for primetime once Ali’s crew showed up to expose their corruption. Take a look at this headline Monday from the London Daily Mail:

The story of how BCF got that video is very interesting, but the real problem for Democrats is that they’ve been getting away with this stuff so long they don’t even know it’s wrong. Decades of habitual corruption — and Louisiana is a cesspool of crooked politics, the Chicago of the South — have this effect of making Democrats utterly shameless.

So how does Senator Mary Landrieu feel about all of this?
“I looked at the video, it was in a bar room, you know, on a stage, people were having a good time. It seemed to me to be a joke” explains Landrieu.


When they’re exposed, they don’t know how to react.

The staff of Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu and the Democrat Party continues to use black protesters but constantly stops them from speaking. Now two new videos show a white union supporter of Landrieu tell a black activist, Anita MonCrief, to “go down on Bill [Cassidy],” Landrieu’s opponent, and another black supporter of Landrieu tells MonCrief she is “pretty much” an uppity negro.


The Democrat Party is a political disease caused by a virus of selfishness that spreads through lies. The only known cure is truth.

Damn, Andrew Breitbart would be so proud to see this day. After Saturday’s election, there won’t be anything left of the Democrat Party in Louisiana but a vast smoldering crater of failure and fear.

The #FunnyNotFunny thing about Landrieu is that not only are the wages of her political sin going to be death in the runoff next month, but the way she’d so cheerfully promise to prostitute herself and her state in order to stay in office.

We can say, “Well, that’s politics” and shrug, but at some point one has to hope Mary gets to recover a bit of dignity.

Hot Air reports on AFP’s praisworthy ad for Mary Landrieus’s re-election campaign:

For crying out loud, Americans: Mary Landrieu is the MOAST HONEST POLITICIAN EVAR! She openly doesn’t care about the benighted peasants of the swamp that hatched her. She’s an aristocrat now; all full of indigna-tion at the situa-tion of the humilia-tion at the thought of losing the election.

In these trying times, we need to preserve the integrity of the Ruling Class contempt for the serfs out there in flyover. That’s why this blog hopes that the continued repression of reform-minded Americans results in another reliably corrupt Congress on our way to the fabled hothouse in this here handbasket.

Craig McCulloch Is the Real Deal

Last night, I attended an event for Craig McCulloch, a candidate for Congress in Louisiana’s 6th District. McCulloch is one of nine — yes, I said nine — Republicans running for this seat, whereas octogenarian sleazeball Edwin Edwards is the best the Democrats could come up with, in a district where more than 60 percent of voters are Republican.

The McCulloch event last night was held at a beautiful old terrace apartment overlooking Jackson Square, where I met not only the candidate and his wife, but also his sister-in-law and her husband. It was a wonderful party, and then McCulloch’s campaign manager said, “Have you seen the video?” Guys, trust me: You want to watch this three-minute video. You want to watch it full-screen, and then you’re going to want to send it to every conservative you know:

As I said last night: Mark Levin is going to love this guy. What Craig McCulloch says in three minutes is what Mark Levin has been saying for three hours five nights a week for at least the past five years. McCulloch is totally authentic: He’s a hometown boy who played quarterback in college and, while being treated for injuries, decided to become a physical therapist. He turned that career into a succcessful business and, as a medical professional, he knows how badly ObamaCare is impacting health-care in this country. But you can just read Craig McCulloch’s biography yourself, and decide for yourself what you want to do. Having met the man, I need no more persuading.

Didn’t I Tell Him to Resign?

What I said about Rep. Vance McAllister (R-Adultery) yesterday:

A part-time district scheduler? Dude, if a congressman is making out with a part-time district scheduler, you know he’s gotta be banging Hill staffers two at a time. It’s probably just a. matter of time before we start getting more headlines: “Vance McAllister dirty texting,” “Vance McAllister nude selfies” and “Vance McAllister sex video.”

Well, McAllister does seem a bit careless with his texting, but nothing dirty — at least, not yet. Meanwhile, however, the congressman’s scandal is predictably going from bad to worse. It has been reported that the video of McAllister’s extramarital make-out session was leaked by the office manager of his district office in Monroe, Louisiana. And then there’s this ugly story:

The husband of the woman caught making out with Rep. Vance McAllister said the Louisiana Republican destroyed his life and marriage.
“I’m just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man. I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it. I feel like I’m going to wake up here in a minute and this is all going to be a bad nightmare,” Heath Peacock told CNN Tuesday. . . .
Heath Peacock said he didn’t know about the episode until Melissa called him a couple hours before the news broke.
“He has wrecked my life,” Peacock, 34, said of McAllister. “We’re headed for divorce.” . . .

Stick a fork in him, he’s done.

 

NEWT MET SECRETLY WITH MITT BEFORE LOUISIANA PRIMARY

In an exclusive story that would appear to undermine Newt Gingrich’s claims of opposing Mitt Romney as the Republican presidential nominee, Ralph Z. Hallow of the Washington Times reports:

Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich recently met in secret with GOP rival Mitt Romney at the former Massachusetts governor’s hotel in New Orleans, according to a Gingrich admirer close to the former Georgia congressman’s campaign.
Mr. Gingrich did not deny the meeting in his response to questions from The Washington Times, but did deny he had cut any deal to end his struggling presidential bid.
The two Republican rivals met at 7 a.m. Saturday, the morning of the Louisiana primary that would turn out to be another in a series of dismal defeats for Mr. Gingrich . . .
He explicitly said there was no understanding that Mr. Romney’s big donors would help retire the Georgian’s campaign debts of more than $1 million or that Mr. Romney had offered him a position in the next GOP administration in exchange for dropping out. . . .

UPDATE: CBS News:

Despite praising Gingrich, [Sheldon] Adelson, the Las Vegas casino mogul, said Gingrich is “at the end of his line,” partly because he is unable to obtain the 1144 delegates necessary to secure the nomination.
“‘Cause, I mean, mathematically he can’t get anywhere near the numbers and it’s not — is unlikely to be a brokered convention,” Adelson said in a video posted on JewishJournal.com.
Adelson and his wife, Miriam, gave $16.5 million to a pro-Gingrich super PAC, Winning Our Future.

LOUISIANA PRIMARY RESULTS HQ: Santorum Wins by Wide Margin

UPDATE 9:29 p.m. CT: While the exit polls had indicated a double-digit margin for Rick Santorum, few suspected that he could beat Mitt Romney here by more than 20 points but, with 65% of precincts reporting, it’s Santorum 49% to Romney’s 26%. Santorum staffers here say they don’t expect that margin to shrink much.

UPDATE 10:05 p.m. CT: The Harris sisters, who sing the Santorum campaign song “Game On,” just arrived at the victory party. And, via Talking Points Memo, here is video of Santorum’s victory speech in Green Bay, Wisconsin:

“We don’t believe, as the pundits have said, that this race is over. We didn’t get the memo . . . We’re still here. We’re still fighting. . . . I’m not running as a conservative candidate for president. I am the conservative candidate for president.”

UPDATE 8:10 p.m. CT: The suspense didn’t last long. The networks called it for Rick Santorum as soon as the polls closed. The key now will be the margin of victory.

UPDATE 8:48 p.m. CT: Fox News is currently showing Santorum winning by 16 points, 44% to 28% for Romney, with 19% for Gingrich and 6% for Paul with 15% of precincts reporting.

According to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office, it’s 45%-28%, and also currently: 335 votes for Buddy Roemer, 157 votes for Rick Perry, 72 votes for Michele Bachmann and 29 votes for Jon Huntsman.

UPDATE 9:15 p.m. CT: The lead widens: With 57% of precincts reporting, Santorum leads by 23 points, 49%-26%, Gingrich trailing in third at 17%. Also: Buddy Roemer remains firmly in fifth place.

UPDATE 7:50 p.m. CT: We have exit polls via Fox News and it looks like an easy double-digit win for Santorum. He beats Romney 54%-22% among evangelicals, 46%-30% among Tea Party supporters, 47%-30% among conservatives.

PREVIOUSLY (7:30 p.m. CT): We are at the Fox & Hound pub here for the Rick Santorum campaign Louisiana victory party. Polls close at 8 p.m. CT (9 p.m. ET), and it’s expected to be a big win for Rick. Fox News will immediately provide the Team Mitt spin, minimizing the significance of this Santorum victory.

People have asked me why so many people in the media — including many in the conservative media — have joined the “Roll Over for Romney” crowd when, despite all the spin about “inevitability,” Mitt’s still got less than 600 delegates and Santorum keeps winning primaries and caucuses. It’s mainly bandwagon psychology. Once the political press corps gets an idea into its collective hive-mind, the Conventional Wisdom congeals quickly.

Team Romney has been pushing the “inevitability” argument ever since the Florida primary Jan. 31, and on March 7 — the Wednesday after Super Tuesday — they rolled out their delegate-count calculus (which involved some dubious assumptions about apportionment of delegates) to assert that Mitt had already effectively clinched the nomination.

The media eagerly bought into that and, so far as Fox News and much of the conservative media are concerned, the attiude now seems to be, “Hurry up and get this silly nomination thing over with, so we can get on to the big Romney vs. Obama showdown.”

Team Romney has been trying to scare people with dire warnings about what a disaster it would be for Republicans if Romney comes into the GOP convention without the 1,144 delegates needed to win on the first ballot, and so Santorum has been getting dismissive coverage from Fox for the past couple of weeks.

When Santorum complained about this treatment last week, it seemed the bias at Fox actually got worse. For a few days, Santorum got almost zero coverage from Fox, and very few conservative bloggers have objected to what is clearly an unfair and unbalanced attitude at the network. Now let’s take this moment to count up Santorum’s victories:

That’s 10 Santorum victories so far over Mr. Inevitable. To this point, according to the Associated Press, Santorum has amassed 263 delegates, and now he’s poised to win the Louisiana primary.

Expect the talking heads on Fox News tonight to talk a lot about how only 20 of Louisiana’s 46 delegates were at stake in today’s vote. Louisiana has a two-step system, and the remaining delegates will be awarded at the state GOP convention in June. But like all the “non-binding” chatter we heard after Santorum’s Feb. 7 “trifecta” victories, this is just a bunch of bullshit Romney spin.

Nevertheless, that’s what you’ll hear on Fox News tonight. Rick Santorum will be watching the results tonight in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We’ll have news from here in Louisiana, where the volunteers know how to party.
