Jake Brewer, R.I.P.

Mary Katharine Ham’s husband was killed in an accident Saturday while participating in a charity bicycle ride when he lost control of his bike and hit a car head-on. Jake Brewer was 34 and his widow is pregnant with their second child. A memorial fund has been set up for their children. MK issued a statement on Instagram:

We lost our Jake yesterday, and I lost part of my heart and the father of my sweet babies. I don’t have to tell most of you how wonderful he was. It was self-evident. His life was his testimony, and it was powerful and tender and fierce, with an ever-present twinkle in the eye. I will miss him forever, even more than I can know right now. No arms can be her father’s, but my daughter is surrounded by her very favorite people and all the hugs she could imagine. . . . I can never be without him because these babies are half him. They are made of some of the strongest, kindest stuff God had to offer this world. Please pray that he can see us and we’ll all make him proud. God, I love him. Psalm 34:18, Philippians 1:3

Rule 5 Sunday: Monkey Boy Don’t Care

This week Rule 5 Sunday pays homage to one of the greatest artists in the comic book field today, a man who knows what the people want and gives it to them good and hard. Ladies and gentlemen, the creator of Liberty Meadows, Frank Cho! Of course, Frank’s talent for drawing beautiful heroines dressed to show it off offends a huge number of humorless wretches, so to appease the complainers, Frank drew Spider-Gwen.

Did I say “appease”? I mean “aggravate”!

Not content with the screams of outrage from that , Frank proceeded to use Spider-Gwen to comment on other sketches of other superheroines…

Power Girl apparently can’t handle her ice cream.

Don’t ever change, Frank. 🙂

Animal Magnetism leads off this week with some hunting season Rule 5: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, and Day 5. Goodstuff’s MegaBlog this week features Marina Sirtis, “aptly named after a place you can park your motorboat”. Indeed. Also, science with Selena Gomez! Randy’s Roundtable returns with Claudine Keane, and Ninety Miles from Tyranny offers the Hot Pick of the Late Night, Morning Mistress, and Girls with Guns. First Street Journal continues the military Rule 5 tradition with Rangers.

EBL’s herd this week includes FEMENists vs. Muslims, Embarrassing Dance, Microaggressions, Autumn in New York, Rachel Emily Nichols, and Oktoberfest 2015.

A View from the Beach chips in with A Real Gem – Bijou Phillips, Ballerk, Learn Danish in 1 Minute, Why Fembots Hate Sexbots, That Door Swings Both Ways, Emily, Do You Believe?, “Howling For You”, A Bite of Baltimore?, Unbelievable, Sexism For Me But Not For Thee, Tramp Stamp Eraser, and Put This Away for Next Summer.

At Soylent Siberia, it’s coffee grinds, Monday Motivationer in Pink, Tiny Tuesday Titillation Beer and…, Humpday Hawt Malloy With Mellow Yellow, Falconsword Fursday Nailing It to the Barn, Latent Lingerie, T-GIF Friday, Weekender Double Trouble, and Bath Night In Slow Motion.

Proof Positive’s Friday Night Babe is Camilla Arfwedson, his Vintage Babe is Judy Carne, Sex in Advertising is covered by Gucci Bamboo, plus there’s the obligatory 49ers cheerleader. At Dustbury, it’s Yin Chang and Kerry Washington.

Thanks to everyone for their linkagery! Deadline to submit links to the Rule 5 Wombat mailbox is midnight on Saturday, September 26.

Just another installment in the occasional “Ain’t it funny when they reject the truth and everything comes up false?” series. Via Instapundit, Politico.eu has “The decline of the French intellectual
For a snippet:

The disintegration of Marxism in the late 20th century left a void which was filled only by postmodernism.
But the writings of the likes of Foucault, Derrida and Baudrillard if anything compounded the problem with their deliberate opaqueness, their fetish for trivial word-play and their denial of the possibility of objective meaning. . .

Marx preached “The Kingdom of God, hold the God”, with results only the Devil could love. The irony of “a void which was filled only by postmodernism” is astounding. It’s like filling a void with something that sucks still more. Postmodernism is really just the ultimate intellectual troll, begetting such lunacy as Stacy McCain’s radical feminist “friends”.
The author concludes:

Indeed, as Europe fumbles shamefully in its collective response to its current refugee crisis, it is sobering that the reaction which has been most in tune with the Enlightenment’s Rousseauist heritage of humanity and cosmopolitan fraternity has come not from socialist France, but from Christian-democratic Germany.

These crappy philosophies seem to start with a rejection of the Judeo-Christian heritage undergirding the West. Maybe it’s time to reject crappy philosophies and the false prophets bearing them, instead.

Suspect Arrested in Phoenix Shootings

Posted on | September 19, 2015 | 14 Comments

A 21-year-old man, Leslie Allen Merritt Jr., was arrested Friday in connection with a series of shootings in Phoenix:

Police arrested a man Friday for a string of seemingly random freeway shootings in Phoenix, adding that they had linked the man’s gun to four of the 11 cars hit. . . .
Department of Public Safety Director Frank Milstead, announcing the arrest at a news conference two hours later, said Merritt had not been formally charged yet.
Milstead said the suspect was arrested in the first four shootings, which took place on Aug. 29 and 30. The agency says the suspect faces a range of charges that include criminal endangerment, assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
The four shootings that police say he committed hit a tour bus, SUV and two cars, all of them on Interstate 10. No one was injured.
In an interview with CBS Phoenix affiliate KPHO-TV, the suspect’s father was adamant that his son had nothing to do with the shootings and that anyone who says he was involved is a “moron.”
Leslie Merritt Sr. told The Associated Press he believes his son is being made a scapegoat by police who were desperate to make an arrest under immense public pressure. . . .
Leslie Allen Merritt Jr.’s Facebook page, confirmed by his father, indicated he worked as a landscaper and was a gun enthusiast, but there was no indication as to why he might have been shooting at cars on the freeways.
The Facebook page shows a video of the suspect firing a rifle with a young boy at his side. The page also contains a series of pro-gun and anti-government posts.

And I’m not too gay ta see

There’s a devil to pay when I talk this way
It’s in the air toni-i-ight

I sees you there with your

Ya shake your tail feathers in my face
But poultry’s not what I do
Well looky here ya sweet young thing
Cause the magic’s in my hook
When in doubt I whip it out
Got a library in my e-book
It’s a free-for-all

Ooh, baby
Ooh, I got ya

Democrats and George Stephanopoulos (But I Repeat Myself)

Posted on | September 19, 2015 | 32 Comments

The “revolving door” between the Democrat Party and the liberal media functions as a full-employment program for party operatives, who can collect paychecks from TV networks for doing the same work they would otherwise do for Democrats. Nearly everyone in the major media is a Democrat (e.g., 89% voted for Bill Clinton in 1992) and so it does not seem at all unusual to them that George Stephanopoulos, a lifelong Democrat Party operative who worked for the Clinton campaign, should be employed as a “journalist” hosting ABC’s Good Morning America:

Former Democratic activist turned journalist George Stephanopoulos on Thursday went after Carly Fiorina for attacking Planned Parenthood during Wednesday’s presidential debate. The Good Morning America co-host grilled, “Another powerful moment last night was when you talked about those Planned Parenthood tapes. But analysts who’ve watched all 12-plus hours say the scene you’ve described, that harrowing scene you described, actually isn’t in those tapes.”
He wondered, “did you misspeak?” Fiorina shot back at the man who secretly donated $75,000 to the Clintons: “I don’t know whether you’ve watched the tapes, George. . . . Certainly none of the Democrats who are still defending Planned Parenthood have watched those tapes.”

We have previously discussed the Planned Parenthood videos and Fiorina’s reference to them during the Wednesday debate. The facts of the matter are known. What is important here is that (a) Fiorina emerged from the debate as a much more viable candidate for the Republican nomination, and therefore (b) Stephanopoulos was obligated, as a Democrat Party operative, to attack Fiorina.

The naked partisanship of Stephanopoulos is not merely “liberal bias”; it is outright propaganda on behalf of the Democrat Party, which reflects ABC News policy of supporting Democrats. All of the producers and executives at ABC News are also partisan Democrats, so that the network has an organizational mission of advocacy on behalf of the candidates and policies of the Democrat Party. This is not only dishonest (because it presents partisan propaganda as objective “news”), but also dangerous, in that individuals like Stephanopoulos and organizations like ABC News cannot be expected to report honestly about the failures of Democrat officials and policies. The public is deliberately misled about, for example, the effectiveness of the Obama administration’s foreign policy, because many millions of citizens are spoonfed disinformation from Democrat partisans like Stephanopoulos.

Democrats will likely nominate as their 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, for whom George Stephanopoulos formerly worked and with whom he is still friends. Does anyone anticipate that Stephanopoulos will be objective in reporting on evidence of Mrs. Clinton’s incompetence, dishonesty and corruption? No, of course not. No one expects honest political coverage from ABC News. They belong to an industry whose business is manufacturing lies.

Sissypuss Conducted A Brief Interview With Thurston The Presidential Lip Fly

Posted on | September 19, 2015 | 3 Comments

by Sissypuss the Blog Kitty

Sissypuss: “There isn’t much love outside of Tehran for the whole nuclear ‘deal’. Many are calling it a steaming pile of crap.”
Thurston: “One sees a steaming pile, while another views a mound of fragant loam. It’s really time we just get past all of this anti-Iranian racism, don’t you think?”
S: “What about the rumor that you were trying to trade away South Texas to appease the Iranians? For crying out loud: they have as much skin in the game as Janet Yellen has interest rates.”
T: “This administration has been besieged, attacked, belittled, and underbussed for its handling of the Southern border. So we float a twofer: eliminate the Rio Grande as a border issue, and try to find a way to hold back a nuclear Iran, and what do we get? Besieged, attacked, belittled, and underbussed. It’s almost as though Hillary! were correct in positing a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, or something.”
S: “Wait, my head ‘sploded. That was a serious thought bubble, giving away half of Texas?”
T: “Oh, come on. They weren’t going to vote Democrat anyway. What difference do those nuckle-dragging revaunchist Texans make, anyway? That Governor Rick Perrier can’t even run a Presidential campaign.”
S: “Speaking of running things, what about the coalition of Middle-Eastern analysts all up in arms regarding the ISIS intelligence reporting?”
T: “ISIL have no idea what they were on about. DNI Clapper delivered the report. Obama read it. Our agent literally hammered the opposition, once she had her sexual identity sorted.”
S: “. . .”
T: “Look, the Constitution says nothing substantial about foreign policy. Americans get what they elect. Or, in Obama’s case, re-elect. Any of the clueless gits who want to complain regarding what they got either voted for him, or didn’t work dilligently enough against him. So if you want to complain that it’s all a pile of manure, I say: bring it!”
