This Could Explain a Lot of Things
Posted on | July 3, 2013 | 59 Comments
Dr. Samuel T. Wilkinson, a physician in residence at the Yale University department of Psychiatry, writes in the Wall Street Journal: “There is a significant and consistent relationship between marijuana use and the development of schizophrenia and related disorders.”
You can read the whole thing — that is, you could read the whole thing, if you weren’t a raving psycho who’s smoked enough weed to fry your brain. Of course, correlation is not causation, and there is the chicken-and-egg problem: Which came first, the crazy or the weed?
We could hypothesize that mentally unstable people are more likely to do a lot of potentially dangerous things — smoke marijuana, vote Democrat, date tattooed women — without any one of these factors being the cause of their insanity. Advocates of the legalization of marijuana could therefore say, “Yeah, crazy people smoke a lot of weed, but . . . Hey, man, stop being such a buzzkill, OK?”
Speaking from personal experience, I know for several years in the 1970s, I suffered from the psychotic delusion that Robert Plant was singing in key on all those Led Zep albums I listened to. And there are long-term effects, too. Even after I stopped smoking weed, I continued voting Democrat for more than a decade.
Thanks to this latest research, however, there are some hitherto unexplained phenomena that now make perfect sense.

You might think that a professional journalist would be completely immune to cheap marketing tactics, but occasionally even I fall for it.
Backstory: Last year some evil troll decided to sign me up for every single news feed at the Huffington Post. As a result, I probably get 30 or 40 different e-mail pitches a day, including some in French and Spanish. I haven’t bothered to cancel the subscriptions because (a) I’m lazy and (b) occasionally I find good blog fodder from the stuff (although I try to avoid linking HuffPo unless I have to).
OK, I hadn’t checked my e-mail in a while and was skimming through when I saw this subject line on an e-mail from HuffPo Lifestyle:
’90s Supermodel Poses Topless
Celebrity breasts don’t usually impress me much. In fact, at age 53, I’m not easily impressed by breasts in general. This isn’t to say I don’t enjoy breasts, but at some point in a man’s life he realizes that the variety is not infinite and . . . Well, breasts are breasts. The fact that a particular pair is attached to somebody famous, so what?
Nevertheless, (a) if this was some kind of “celebrity scandal” angle, it might be good for blog traffic, and (b) hey, it’s got to be more interesting than Valerie Jarrett talking health care. Given a choice between Valerie Jarrett and “topless supermodel”? C’mon.
OK so I click link and it’s Elle McPherson on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, “topless” strictly in the sense that she’s not wearing a top — with her (predictably implant-enhanced) breasts discreetly hidden — rather than “topless” in the sense of Show Me Your Boobies.
But if you want to see a really nice pair . . .

You probably thought the title reference was to “Aqualung” (“watching as the frilly panties run“) but it was actually the opening line of “Locomotive Breath” that I had in mind: “In the shuffling madness …”
One cannot help notice the vibrations of desperate hysteria emanating from some of those whose intense emotional investment in the case of accused sex offender Kaitlyn Hunt was never entirely rational and which has become increasingly frantic in the weeks since the steady accumulation of facts began undermining mainstream support for the “Free Kate” cause. Even if these people are not all degenerate perverts enthused by a twisted hope of obliterating age-of-consent laws, the erratic vehemence of their rhetoric suggests the “shuffling madness” of the “all-time loser” hurtling “headlong to his death.”
Among the more deranged devotees of Saint Kate of the Blessed Finger is “Rachel Carson” (@rachiez3) the quotation marks around the name necessitated by the fact that it is often impossible to know whether Twitter trolls like this are actually sockpuppets.
Excuse me for losing count of exactly how many eruptions from this troll I ignored before responding, but my response seems to have inspired a lucid moment for the voices inside Rachel’s head:
@rsmccain I want to legalize a 48 month age gap aged 14 and up in high school and stop hate crimes like your cyberstalking 2 teens #Freekate
— Rachael Carson (@rachiez3) July 2, 2013
Let’s ignore the ridiculous assertion that it is “cyberstalking” to report on a high-profile campaign that has sought to make an accused sex offender a cause célèbre of the gay-rights movement. Instead, let’s talk about Rachel’s claim that current Florida law, which makes it a felony for anyone 18 or older to have sex with anyone 15 or younger, is wrong, and that it would be a beneficial reform to change the law as she says.
Once a person reached their 14th birthday, they would be sexual “fair game” for anyone who was no more than 48 months older. The specificity of Rachel’s proposal, of course, most likely reflects a knowledge that Kaitlyn Hunt (born in August 1994) was 44 months older than her 14-year-old partner (born in April 1998). And so the proposal is to reform the law in just such a way as to legalize the acts for which Kaitlyn is being prosecuted. Convenient, eh?
What this would in effect mean, however, is that parents would have no legal authority for exercising restraint on their child’s sexual behavior once the child turned 14 — that is, as long as the teen’s partners weren’t more than 48 months older. Is that OK?
There are some states where the statutory age is 14 and probably most teenagers in those states don’t run rampant with orgies of promiscuity to celebrate their 14th birthdays. Perhaps there is some research that could give guidance on what (if any) influence on teenage sexual behavior is accomplished by differences in age-of-consent schemes. But that would be utterly irrelevant to the case at hand, wouldn’t it?
Whether Florida’s laws conform to some particular ideal is not at issue in the Kaitlyn Hunt case. Florida’s law regarding the age of consent has not been changed very recently. This is not a new and untested law, but one already well established, under which other offenders have been successfully prosecuted for acts no worse than those of which Kaitlyn Hunt is accused. In fact, prosecutors were willing to disregard what would appear to be Kate’s admission that she had violated this law, and instead have her plead guilty to a less offense in a deal that would have permitted her to avoid serving any time in prison.
The entire public controversy that the Hunt family and their supporters deliberately created — the fundamental cause of the “Free Kate” crusade — was her unwillingness to accept the offered plea bargain, and the insistence that prosecutors should treat her (admitted) felony as only a misdemeanor. This raises the question: “Why didn’t the prosecutors offer a misdemeanor plea?”
“Aggravating Circumstances,” as I pointed out May 25, and I’m not going to repeat that argument here. You can debate the merits of the law or the wisdom of the prosecutors until the cows come home, for all I care. If officials in Indian River County say that sex in a school toilet stall or a night of playing Spin the Dildo with a 14-year-old runaway should be treated as a felony, I’m willing to defer to their judgment — and I expect most responsible adults would, too.
(If any publisher wants me to write a book called 101 Freaky Fun Ideas You Shouldn’t Try in Indian River County, drop me an e-mail.)
Whether or not Florida’s laws are ideal is irrelevant to the question of whether they should be enforced. Personally, I don’t think it should be considered a “crime” to drive 110 mph on I-4 with an open can of beer between your knees, but the cops in Florida are such hateful bigots about these things that I usually try to avoid it. Also, when visiting Florida beaches, I always insist that females in bikinis provide a photo identification proving they are at least 18 years old before I’ll even look at their impressively pendulous breasts. But I digress . . .
My point is that these “Free Kate” people are crazy.
Never in my memory has anyone tried to make a civil-rights hero out of someone who admits diddling a 14-year-old, a precedent that might inspire rather amusing new arguments by any teenage boy who should in the future find that his ninth-grade girlfriend is reluctant to let him get past second base. (“Stop oppressing me, Heather! This is like Selma, and your panties are the Edmund Pettus Bridge!“)
The absurdity of the Jailbait Rights Movement — which is really what this whole “Free Kate” thing boils down to — could be laughed off as a joke were it not taken so seriously by Kaitlyn Hunt’s supporters that they are willing to denounce as homophobic bigots anyone who dares to criticize their arguments. Their grim humorlessness suggests a fanatical determination to overturn any law that stands between them and complete sexual anarchy, and their depraved cause has attracted a flock of gibbering lunatics to their disgraceful banner.

Neutral Objective Incompetence: How Ginger Gorman Aided Pedophile Network
Posted on | July 2, 2013 | 121 Comments
“I felt no sense anything was wrong. For all intents and purposes this appeared to be a loving family and a loving household, and I’ve gone over and over about it in my brain and I did not feel anything was wrong. … I’m profoundly shocked and disgusted by what’s happened. Since then, I just am revolted and I find myself quite despairing about the turn of events.”
— Ginger Gorham, Australian Broadcasting Company
When Wintery Knight first told me about this story, I was stunned: In 2010, Australian reporter Ginger Gorham produced a human-interest feature about two men and their son that glowed with the kind of one-sided enthusiasm one might expect to find in advertising copy for toothpaste or a political endorsement. Nary a hint nor a shadow of skepticism dimmed the sunshine-and-rainbows narrative Gorham provided for Mark Newton and Peter Truong.
Oops.
Police Vow to Pursue Pedophile
Ring ‘To the Ends of the Earth’
Authorities in Australia say they intend to apprehend and prosecute every member of an international child pornography ring that exploited a boy who was molested from infancy by two men who reportedly created him with a Russian surrogate mother. “With this network, rest assured that we will pursue them to the ends of the Earth to make sure each and every one of them faces justice for what their role has been in crimes against this child,” Queensland Police Officer Jon Rouse told the Australian Broadcasting Company.
Officer Rouse is a member of Task Force Argos, the special unit that investigated the case of two Australian men who sexually molested a boy for six years, providing video of their crimes — and even paid sexual encounters with the boy — to an “international syndicate” of pedophiles called the Boy Lovers Network.
Mark Newton, 42, was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison last week by U.S. District Court Judge Sarah Evans Barker. Authorities say Newton and his partner, Peter Truong, 36, paid a Russian woman $8,000 to give birth to a boy they said was conceived using artificial insemination with Newton’s sperm. The men began sexually abusing the boy before he was two weeks old, recording the acts on video they shared online with other pedophiles. . . .
You can read the rest at ViralRead. No one can doubt that Ginger Gorham is now shocked, disgusted and revolted by these horrifying revelations. And I wish to make clear to Ginger Gorham — or to anyone else who might get the wrong idea — that I am not unfairly trying to smear gay people with the taint of pedophilia.
What enraged me is how the utter one-sidedness of the news media in regard to homosexuality assisted Newton and Truong in their crime, so that when Gorham sought them out for a 2010 feature article, it amounted to free publicity for their criminal enterprise.
Journalists today cannot report about homosexuality, they must only advocate, endorse, praise and celebrate homosexuality. This paradigm reduces reporters to the role of propagandists, whose job is to parrot the publicity of radical gay-rights activists.
So far has this disastrous trend gone, that it never even occurred to Ginger Gorham that there was anything . . . odd about Truong and Newton’s extraordinary efforts to secure custody of an infant boy whom, we now know, they trained to perform as a gay sex toy:
Prosecutors said videos showed the boy “performing sex acts on Newton with a disturbing level of sophistication” when the boy was not yet 2 years old. At least eight different men had sex with the boy, investigators believe. ”The purchase of the child for the explicit and sole purpose of exploiting him across a network of men is incredibly depraved and very sad tale for that little boy,” Officer Rouse said.
The one story that the media will never report is their own abandonment of any pretense to fairness, and anyone who tries to hold them accountable is deliberately exiled or ignored. This isn’t about homosexuality. There are any number of issues — from immigration to “climate change” to race relations — where journalists today are not expected to do actual reporting, but rather to promote a preconceived narrative, to advance an agenda.
Well, here is one “hate” I gladly confess: I thoroughly despise these dishonest dimwits who are disgracing the profession of journalism.

Two Gay Men Used Russian Surrogate Mother to Create Boy for Sex Abuse Ring
Posted on | July 1, 2013 | 202 Comments
Peter Truong and Mark Newton with their 5-year-old sex toy, 2010
What could possibly go wrong? In July 2010, two men — their names given only as Mark and Peter — were the subjects of an Australian Broadcasting Company feature story with this headline:
Why two dads are better than one
Becoming parents was hard work for gay couple …
but they’d do it all over again if they had to
The article by Ginger Gorman positively oozed with sympathetic admiration for Mark and Peter, whose son was conceived in 2005 with the assistance of a Russian surrogate mother. Fast-forward three years:
Australian pair in L.A. convicted for making
child porn with ‘adopted son’ from Russia
He was only two weeks old the first time Newton, now 42, molested the boy that the Russian surrogate was paid $8,000 to bear for him and Truong, now 36. The Sydney Morning Herald reports:
Police believe the pair had adopted the boy ‘‘for the sole purpose of exploitation’’. The abuse began just days after his birth and over six years the couple travelled the world, offering him up for sex with at least eight men, recording the abuse and uploading the footage to an international syndicate known as the Boy Lovers Network. …
[U.S. District] Judge [Sarah Evans] Barker said the pair brainwashed the child to believe the sexual abuse was normal. Newton was also said to have trained the boy to deny any inappropriate behaviour if he was ever questioned by authorities.
An international syndicate of child molesters — this was the market for which Mark Newton and Peter Truong hired a surrogate to help them create a highly valuable commodity. That’s why they did that “hard work” referenced in the glowing 2010 feature — which the Australian Broadcasting Company has now deleted from its Web site, in a shameful attempt to hide their shameful misdeed in celebrating this shameful couple as an example of “Why two dads are better than one.”
But of course, they’re liberals. They have no shame — only an agenda.
UPDATE: A few more details:
The Queensland Police Task Force Argos, an Australian service branch that targets child exploitation, suspected Newton and Truong of wrongdoings when investigators found images of them with the child among images of the child porn on a fellow sex offender’s computer in August 2011.
Argos conducted background checks and examined the couple’s chat logs. …
U.S. police raided the men’s Los Angeles home and arrested them in October 2011. …
Initially, Newton and Truong claimed they were being targeted because of their sexual orientation.
Of course: They were “targeted because of their sexual orientation” — they were victims of homophobia! By the time they were featured in that 2010 article by Ginger Gorman of the Australian Broadcasting Company, Truong and Newton had been molesting that boy on video — and pimping out the boy to their friends in the “Boy Lovers Network” — for five years. The fact that these two men were key figures in an international sex-trafficking ring . . . when did the Australian Broadcasting Company learn this information? And how long did they hide from their viewers the fact that these child pornographers were the men Ginger Gorman celebrated in her 2010 feature?
Well, Ginger Gorman (@freshchilli) what do you have to say for yourself now? http://t.co/HgvEKZ98jb
