Because You Can Never Get Enough Sex: Alcee Hastings, Bill Clinton, and Britney
Posted on | March 7, 2011 | 4 Comments
Has the world gone freaking crazy with Charlie Sheen as Patient Zero of a psycho-pandemic? Here are few recent headlines of interest:
- The former bodyguard for Britney Spears, who claims she sexually harassed him, now claims that Britney took pictures of her lady-parts on her cell phone and texted them to him.
- A former staffer has accused Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) of “unwelcome sexual advances, crude sexual comments and unwelcome touching.”
- The most disturbing report, however, is that Bill Clinton spent time with his billionaire buddy Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, on a private Caribbean island with three underage girls.
Famous people, please stop doing this crazy stuff. I appreciate your efforts to increase my blog traffic, but you’ve done enough for one day.

Proposed ObamaCare Solution
Posted on | March 7, 2011 | 13 Comments
by Smitty
Noting in a lot of blogs, most recently Cubachi, that the number of ObamaCare waivers (would the scolds frown less if we called it JehovaCare? Or am I only making it worse?) has topped a full thousand, I have an idea:
Have Speaker Boehner propose a one-liner bill:
All Americans are exempted from [the legislation unpopularly known as] ObamaCare.
I think that this idea will find favor with the administration, since the damages of the odious legislation are mitigated, yet it’s still on the books, so that the Teleprompted One can oscillate from screen to screen, smugly taking pride in the crowning farce of his administration.
Maybe sufficient dupes will remain confused about whether the legislation achieves anything to re-elect the gentleman. My gut is that the Tea Parties are going to turn up the volume over the next 21 months, and the entire morally/financially bankrupt Lefty agenda is going to collapse.
BREAKING: Sheen’s ‘Two and a Half Men’ Contract ‘Terminated’ by Warner Bros.
Posted on | March 7, 2011 | 20 Comments
“After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen’s services on Two and a Half Men effective immediately.”
UPDATE: I had just finished blogging at The American Spectator about the departure of one of Sheen’s “goddesses” — Bree Olson has evidently gone back home to Ft. Wayne, Indiana — when I saw this news at TMZ.
Lots more developments on the Sheen front today, but obviously the cancellation of Sheen’s $2-million-an-episode TV deal is the biggest yet.
UPDATE II: Tracing back the events that led to this, Sheen’s hateful rant against Two and a Half Men producer Chuck Lorre — on 9/11 conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’s radio show — was the first burned bridge. When Sheen then gave interviews to ABC, NBC and CNN trashing CBS, those were a few more bridges. But his “Sheen’s Korner” Internet show might have been the final burned bridge. In Sunday’s second installment, Sheen took to the ‘Net with a 13-minute video rant:
“All I’m gonna give them is the [bleeping] truth, and I’m gonna deliver it in a way that’s violent and focused and not like they’re used to ever because they’re high on vaccines, and McDonald’s, and US Weekly, and TMZ and every other [bleeping expletive] brand of food that they consume…. So I’m just gonna write my sermons. I’m gonna deliver them like truth torpedos and people are gonna [bleeping] take it or leave it. We know they’re gonna take it ’cause they can’t process it, so they must condemn it. If they can’t condemn it, they’ll [bleeping] like turn me into a God and worship it and then realize I’m behind them cutting their throats and their children.”
As I wrote at the Spectator:
They say money can’t buy happiness. Apparently, it can’t buy sanity, either.
He’s promised another episode of “Sheen’s Korner” tonight at 10 p.m. ET, and that should be . . . well, interesting.
UPDATE III: Big Hollywood’s Jim Nolte notes that this morning it was rumored a compromise deal was being worked out to bring Sheen back to Two and a Half Men. And now, “you have to believe Sheen will be haunted by second thoughts,” Nolte says:
One of the best jobs in entertainment is starring in a hit sitcom. The money is crazy, the hours are cake, and you’re treated like a king. . . .
Will Sheen still feel like he’s winning! if “Two and a Half Men” marches on successfully without him for another season or two while he’s tied up in court and doing podcasts with his buddies? Or is he so wealthy and self-assured, he won’t care?
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” — Proverbs 16:18 (KJV)
UPDATE IV: Thanks to That Mr. G Guy for notifying me of Sheen’s comment to TMZ:
“This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of their bazillions, never have to look at whatshiscock again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.”
He’s got a great future ahead of him, doing voice-overs in those cuckoo-for-Cocoa Puffs commercials.
UPDATE V: The Los Angeles Times has long excerpts of the letter that the lawyers for Warner Bros. sent to Sheen’s lawyer:
“Warner Bros. would not, could not, and should not attempt to continue `business as usual’ while Mr. Sheen destroys himself as the world watches,” the letter said. . . .
Sheen’s “self-destructive conduct resulted in his hospitalization, his inability to work at all for a period and the rapid erosion of the cooperative and creative process necessary to produce the show,” the studio’s lawyers said. The letter goes on to say that Sheen’s admitted drug use and “furnishing of cocaine” to others puts him in violation of his contract. “There is ample evidence supporting Warner Bros. reasonable good faith opinion that Mr. Sheen has committed felony offenses involving moral turpitude … that have interfered with his ability to fully and completely render all material services required” under his contract.
UPDATE VI: Dan Collins suggests a replacement for Sheen on Two and a Half Men, and it ain’t Alcee Hastings.
‘Right-Wing’ Sarah Palin?
Posted on | March 7, 2011 | 16 Comments
A story from the British Daily Mail about a deranged teenager stalking Sarah Palin brought me to a screeching halt in the first sentence:
A teenager who sent threatening letters to right-wing US politician Sarah Palin has been arrested in her home state of Alaska.
What is it about that phrase, “right-wing,” that obtrudes? It’s mainly because I have trouble imagining a scenario where a reporter would use “left-wing” in a similar context. Surely if Palin is “right-wing,” Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer and many other Democrats must be judged “left-wing” by the same measure, yet that label is never applied to them.
Sarah Palin is a Republican and, like most Republicans, is generally conservative. Barack Obama is a Democrat and, like most Democrats, generally liberal. Yet studies by the Media Research Center and others show that reporters apply the labels “conservative” or “right-wing” to Republicans far more often than they apply “liberal” or “left-wing” to Democrats.
Why is it that Republicans can win an enormous electoral landslide, a political indication that GOP views are closer to the mainstream “center” than the views of Democrats, and yet supposedly neutral reporters still feel the need to apply the label “right-wing” — suggesting an extreme “fringe” ideology — to one of the most popular figures in the Republican Party?

Obama’s February Deficit: $233 Billion
Posted on | March 7, 2011 | 7 Comments
That’s $23,000,000,000 of deficit spending in a single month — the shortest month of the year, as Ace notes, calling it “the prelude to hyperinflation.”
Ace also reminds us that this one-month deficit is $60 billion more than the entire budget deficit for 2007. And a commenter at Protein Wisdom points out that this one-month deficit is nearly equal to the cost of the first eight years of the war in Afghanistan.
But remember: Obama will veto the GOP budget unless it includes funding for Planned Parenthood.

Will Fox Dump Glenn Beck?
Posted on | March 7, 2011 | 26 Comments
That’s what David Carr of the New York Times suggests: Beck’s contract is up in December and maybe he and the Fox folks don’t see eye-to-eye.
Howard Portnoy at Hot Air Green Room is dubious about this theory, citing Scott Baker at the Beck-sponsored Blaze blog.
I don’t watch Beck’s show enough to offer any definitive judgment, but it is my general impression that Beck’s show was much better in 2009 than it has been in recent months. Beck did valuable work in showing the connections between various radical elements of the organized Left and the Obama administration.
There were a lot of people who sort of woke up after the 2008 election asking themselves, “How did we get here?” And what Beck did, with his chalkboard talks and so forth, was to provide these newly-engaged people with a very watchable seminar on the history and structure of the American Left, keyed on current events.
That was very good, but in recent months, whenever I tune into Beck on Fox, I get the idea that he’s preaching more than teaching. The show is now less about fact and more about feeling. He seems less interested in politics and history, more interested in forging an emotional connection with his viewers. But that is merely my perception, and it may be that regular Beck-watchers will say I’m mistaken.
Suggestion: Somebody at the network needs to have a sit-down meeting with Beck and explain that this is the Fox News Channel — not the Fox Patriotism Channel or Fox Faith Channel. Focus the show a bit sharper on here’s-what’s-happening-now and filling in the here’s-what-you-don’t-know background behind the headlines.
Also, a rooftop concert in London with Billy Preston on keyboards might be helpful: Get Beck!
