Is the Huffington Post burying its head in the sand, or worse?
States attempting to ensure the validity of elections are under attack by the occasionally amusing, but mostly stone cold crazy 9th Circuit Court of Idiocy are where the real questions begin:
A federal appeals court on Tuesday struck down a key part of Arizona’s law requiring voters to prove they are citizens before registering to vote and to show identification before casting ballots.
The decision by a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found the law requiring voters to prove their citizenship while registering is inconsistent with the National Voter Registration Act. That federal law allows voters to fill out a mail-in voter registration card and swear they are citizens under penalty of perjury, but doesn’t require them to show proof as Arizona’s law does.
Then there is Eric Holder’s Department of (in)Justice, but you’ll have to read J. Christian Adams to catch all that detail.
Back at HuffPo, David Spencer Seconi, Managing Editor of CheatingCulture.com, offers “The Right’s Obsession With Voter Fraud“. Not to say that Seconi’s domain name, itself, doesn’t adequately answer the question: “Is Seconi a boob?”, but his final ‘graph is a hoot in this context:
While voting fraud does not occur at the level some conservative websites would have you believe, it is still wrong, however, to automatically assume the problem does not exist. Yet, it becomes impossible to solve such a basic issue when it becomes political. Want evidence? Just ask the climate scientists who hired Al Gore for that documentary.
Now, voting is a political act. So, if part of the political act is too political to manage anymore, have we achieved anarchy? As for Saint Albert Gore, Jr. and, the poor wee scientists who ‘hired’ him to do the documentary: do they deserve more or less sympathy than the hamsters who awarded him the Oscar, not to mention the gerbils who gave him the Nobel Prize? As with the voter fraud, it’s a godforsaken racket, and Seconi is either a useful idiot or complicit. Probably the former thinking himself the latter.
VIDEO: Veteran GOP Activist Predicts Republicans to Gain 63 House Seats

ABINGDON, Va. — Everybody’s making predictions, but here in the 9th District of Virginia, they have a genuine sage: Strother Smith of the Tenth Amendment Foundation. An attorney and longtime county GOP chairman who was a delegate to the 1964 convention that nominated Barry Goldwater, Smith not only predicts the outcome here — Republican Morgan Griffith to win by 1,500 votes — but forecasts that Republicans will gain 63 seats in the House and 8 in the Senate.

First of all, we’d like to encourage as many blogs as possible to join Team Navy in support of Soldiers’ Angels.
Second of all, we’d like to encourage everyone to read learn more about this worthy cause:![]()
Third of all, as a fund raiser, I’m taking on the entire blogosphere, one at a time, in cribbage. When the lesson is done, to your detriment, you’re on your honor to donate $1 per point by which you lose, minimum $5. The same would apply to me, in the alternate hypothetical future where the loss does not fall on you.
Troglopundit: I know you need a little help here, so I’ll go ahead and spot you 10 points. Email me to schedule a game.
Greetings from Bristol, Va.

Please excuse the 24-hour absence of bl0gging, and thanks to Smitty and Wombat for producing excellent content in my absence. Yesterday I drove from Hagerstown to Christiansburg, Va., and then on to Abingdon, where I filed 950 words last night The American Spectator:
ABINGDON, Va. — Rick Boucher voted for the “Job-Killing Cap & Trade Energy Tax,” says a voter guide distributed in Virginia’s 9th District and that may well be the obituary on the Democrat’s 28-year career in Congress.
Southwest Virginia is coal country and, according to an estimate by the National Association of Manufacturers, the Waxman-Markey bill for which Boucher voted — formally known as the American Clean Energy and Security Act — would eliminate 56,000 jobs in Virginia. The unemployment rate in many counties in Boucher’s district has been above 10 percent for months, and it is hard to see why anyone concerned about this region’s economy would vote for the man who voted for legislation so inimical to their own interests.
President Obama didn’t exactly help the Democrat incumbent’s re-election chances last year when he declared, “I love Rick Boucher,” a statement that has now been replayed thousands of times in Republican campaign ads in a district that John McCain carried with 58 percent of the vote in 2008.
Improbable as it may seem, however, VA-9 is still a rated a “toss-up.” For months, polls showed Boucher with a double-digit lead over Republican challenger Morgan Griffith. It was not until this week, in the wake of a televised debate on a Lynchburg station, that a poll by Survey USA showed Griffith pulling ahead by a single point, 47 to 46 percent.
That Boucher could get 46 percent of the vote here — indeed, the incumbent may actually win re-election Tuesday — demonstrates the power of Democrat party attack ads, which have been pouring into airwaves and mailboxes in the 9th District, as in so many other key congressional districts nationwide. . . .
Please read the whole thing. I didn’t get to bed until 3 a.m., then had to be up at 7:30 a.m. to go cover the Morgan Griffith campaign. Walked with the candidate shaking hands along the streets of Gate City and then traveled to Jonesville — way off in the southwest corner of Virginia — for a get-out-the-vote rally for Griffith.
Southwest Virginia blogger Jay Furhman notes that Boucher has put out another attack ad against Griffith. Meanwhile, Griffith’s up with his closing-argument TV ad:
Will have photos, etc., from last night and today in a little while, but I just wanted to get something online to let readers know I’m alive and well and disgusted by Gawker.
Seriously: That Philly punk complained that “the waxing trend had completely passed her by,” which he says caused him to lose interest. Is this porn-inspired trend toward the deforestation of the pubic delta now so ubiquitous that young guys no longer find normal women attractive? Well, never mind Dustin Dominiak — although a Kentucky-style stomping would probably do him good, and I sincerely hope the backlash will result in Chris Coons getting stomped Tuesday. (New Christine O’Donnell slogan: “Vote for bush!”)
My plan is still to head south all the way to Florida for Election Day, so if you feel an overpowering urge to hit the tip jar, don’t fight the feeling.

Conservatives4Palin has the play-by-play.
They also point to the Alaska elections site, which, filtering the chaff, lists 125 valid competitors for The Seat Her Daddy Gave Her To Keep, if I filtered the noise correctly.
Still more background at the Anchorage Daily News.
Perhaps Lisa, Arlen Specter, and Charlie Crist can come together and found the “It’s Our Party And We’ll Cry If We Want To Party”. In any case, let us hope that Alaskans do something sensible on Tuesday.
VA8: Col. Patrick Murray On Fox

by Smitty (via Retire Jim Moran)
It is excellent to see Murray both on Fox and Friends. . .:
and also Fox Business. If you have time, go for this second clip, where the discussion moves past Moran’s condescending dismissal of military service members to discussion of needed policy reforms, for example, term limits. How refreshing it would be to have a representative not committed to Murtha-ism:
What would really be nice to see is Murray on Hardball with Matthews, trying to make up for the detached-from-reality performance of the incumbent, “Gentleman” Jim Moran. In that case, the thrill up Matthew’s leg would be the vibration of a 120mm main battery.
Moran supporters have responded with an attack ad so brutal and devastating that, should Ladd Ehlinger view it, he’ll no doubt give up directing film entirely:
The clip looks like a school project, and certainly is better than anything I have done, so let’s fall short of hammering kids. A bit more research in the future wouldn’t hurt, however. NCLB was a Bush idea. These youth probably don’t understand that they’re blaspheming Holy Progress by supporting BeelzeBush the Anti-Clinton.
Three more days and a wakeup, Virginia!

Democrat Party Attack Ads In Virginia

Four of Virginia’s districts are on the Real Clear Politics radar. This post reviews the Democrat attack ads on offer, and also throws in my local district, because we could all use a fifth around now.
