Via Da Tech Guy, the DC Examiner reports that the Rally to Restore Sanity/March to Keep Fear Alive is really more about the latter than the former.
Now, I have better things to do that waste my time on Commode-y Central’s sad little gathering of paid stooges. For an example of filming at a legitimate gathering of ‘just folks’ paying to get themselves to an event, consider this clip from about midway back at the Reflecting Pool at 8/28:
You sort of know that Frick & Frack’s cheesy little gathering will have neither the attendance nor the legitimate enthusiasm. Bogus crowd estimates and carefully crafted river of soundbites will surely follow.
Indeed, Stewart and Colbert are two salmon seeking to spawn, desperately swimming against the current of common sense and public opinion, straining to work their way upstream in the River of Progress, and arriving at its origin, to discover a sewage treatment plant.
Update: American Power has a worthy photo roundup. Cat Stevens and Ozzy? Whatever.
An Army Of Davids On A Bus Tour To Retire Jim Moran

Patrick Murray, a retired US Army Colonel, is, in some respects, running the quintessential David-style insurgency against an incumbent Goliath, Jim Moran.
It’s not just that fewer people can do the same work, it’s that they don’t need a big company to provide the infrastructure to do the work, and, in fact, they may be far more efficient without the big company and all the inefficiencies and stumbling blocks that its bureaucracy and techno-structure tend to produce.
—Glenn Reynolds, An Army of Davids
Prof. Reynold’s observation, grounded in American anti-bureaucratic sentiment, is echoed throughout Murray’s positions on issues.
Today, there are ~100 hours remaining until the American people choose between an incumbent Philistine and someone a trifle more in keeping with the traditions that founded and sustain this country. This blog caught up with Murray at the Alexandria Farmer’s Market, at the commencement of a whistle stop bus tour to get out the vote for Tuesday. This explains the curious pan-pipe soundtrack for the clip:

VA-9: On the Campaign Trail With Republican Challenger Morgan Griffith
Posted on | October 30, 2010 | 4 Comments
ABINGDON, Va. — As I pointed out Friday in my American Spectator column, the 9th District of Virginia went 58% for John McCain two years ago and you might think it would be easy for a Republican to defeat a Democrat incumbent here — especially when the Democrat voted for the cap-and-trade bill that would devastate the region’s coal industry.
Well, if you think it’s easy, you’re wrong. There’s a reason this race is still rated a “toss-up.” Democrat Rep. Rick Boucher has been getting re-elected here for 28 years, he’s got an enomous fund-raising advantage over his Republican challenger Morgan Griffith and so Griffith has to do a lot of grassroots campaigning if he wants to have a chance to win on Election Day. Early Friday morning, I caught up with Griffith as he campaigned in Scott County and Lee County.
Griffith talks to Tommy Quillin, owner of Quillin Hardware in Gate City, near the Tennessee border. The Quillin family has owned the store on West Jackson Street since 1903, and he’s the third generation of his family to run the store.
Lee County courthouse in Jonesville. Located at the far southwest tip of Virginia, Lee County is nearer to the capitals of four other states than it is to the Virginia state capital in Richmond. For that reason, Lee County doesn’t usually get much attention from Virginia politicians. Yet as one local Republican official remarked Friday, Griffith has campaign here early and often.
A historic marker notes that Jonesville is on the historic trail pioneered by Daniel Boone through the Cumberland Gap, which is 35 miles to the west of Jonesville.
Griffith shakes hands with a local supporter after a get-out-the-vote rally at the Lee County Courthouse. The man in the middle is Jonesville mayor Greg Smith. (I wonder if there a Smithville with a Mayor Jones?)
Griffith is interviewed by the TV station WCYB following his rally in Jonesville.
At that rally, Griffith said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we are on the cusp of a historic election,” and said that if the 9th District goes Republican — ending 28 years of Democrat control — it will signal a “tsunami.” And he urged his listeners to talk to their friends and neighbors, to work the phones, and do everything they can to get every last vote on Tuesday.

That seems to be the majority sentiment in Kentucky, where the first poll conducted after the notorious head-stomping incident shows Republican Rand Paul now with a 12-point lead, 53-41.
People may be dumbfounded to see Paul gaining support after that incident. But if you think Kentuckians like having an Ivy League-educated professional protester trying to turn their Senate campaign a publicity stunt . . . well, think again.
Meanwhile, as Allahpundit notes, there seems to be a recent history of MoveOn.org violence.
Note on Juke-Joint Etiquette
Posted on | October 29, 2010 | 2 Comments
ABINGDON, Va. — Thursday night, in pursuit of the inside story of the VA-9 congressional campaign, I met with Republican sources at a saloon on State Street in Bristol.
When we walked in, the jukebox was playing some toneless heavy metal noise that was getting on my road-frayed nerves. “Obviously,” I told my companions, “these people don’t know how to operate a jukebox.”
With a few dollars’ worth of quarters, I then gave a lesson in proper jukebox operation. There are some songs that are great jukebox tunes, guaranteed to put saloon-goers into a happy mood, get the ladies dancing and make the pool-shooters start playing air-guitar on their pool cues. Pretty much anything by Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top or the Allman Brothers, for example. Or this all-time singalong classic:
Here is a photo of my Republican sources and some of their local grassroots juke-joint constituents:
Research demonstrate that good juke-joint music inspires grassroots constituents to join the Axis of Fedora:
My Republican sources assure me that they plan to continue their grassroots outreach program, to make sure that these constituents vote for Morgan Griffith on Tuesday.
234 Years Later, Obama Hardly Resembling Washington

Not quite 234 years ago, original Tea Partier and future first POTUS George Washington crossed the Delaware River to put the hurt on forces of the Ruling Class overlords encamped at Trenton.

A couple centuries later, and things are reversed. Now, via AmericanGlob the POuTUS has become the Ruling Class overlord, and must cross the border into Delaware to rout the upstart Tea Party candidate, Christine O’Donnell.
The little minions are squawking on Twitter:

But what did fivethirtyeight say back in January, when Scott Brown refuted the notion of a “Kennedy Seat”?
Yet another poll, by Suffolk University, showed Brown ahead by 4 points, while still another, commissioned by the liberal blog BlueMassGroup, showed Coakley ahead by 8 points.
Even before all those polls had been released, longtime poll watchers were struggling to make sense of the results.
“Are you seeing a consistent pattern here? I’m not,” Nate Silver wrote in a post about the race last Sunday on his popular polling blog, fivethirtyeight.com. “All of the polls have positives and negatives. And any of them could be right.”
Blumenthal said the challenge for pollsters is to determine who will vote on Tuesday, particularly now that the race has intensified.
“Really small differences in pollster methods can make big differences in the final numbers, and it’s not at all clear what the perfect poll would look like,” Blumenthal said. “There’s a lot of art and there’s a lot of guesswork and there’s a moving target.”
The situation underscores a little parody tune. Was it merely 17 days ago? Update to use Band of O.R.G.A.S.M.:
Obama Went Down To Delaware
Obama went down to Delaware,
He was lookin’ for thunder to steal,
He was in a bind, his party was behind:
He was using campaign appeal. He came across a reading Tea Partier,
Bitter cling-on, Constitution hot,
Then jumped up on a speechin’ stump and said:
`Christine, let me tell you what.`I bet you didn’t know it,
but I’m a Constitutional scholar too;
if you care to dare a Senate chair
I’ll make a bet with you.`Now you done fine campaigning, true
But give Obama his due.
I bet a chair of gold against your soul
Cos I’m Hopier and Changier than you.’The girl said `My name’s Christine,
and it’s un-Constitutional, I know
but I’ll stomp your hassle like I did Mike Castle
–or are you all talk, and no show?’Christine, sharpen up your speech
and campaign for your life,
Cos Obama’s loose in Delaware
(Could he be running from his wife?)If you win you get
this shiny Senate seat of gold
But if you lose
Obama meets his goalObama set up teleprompters `Yeah, I’ll start this show.’
Fire flew from his fingertips as he welded that stupid Presidential seal in place so that it didn’t blow his game at this critical juncture–you know?
His head bobbed as the words rolled; crowd made an evil hiss.
Then the Band of Orgasm jumped in and it sounded something like this:
When Obama finished, O’Donnell said: ‘Well, you’re pretty good old son,
But shut your teleprompters down, let me show you how it’s done’
Fire in the First State, run boys, run.
Obama’s in the house of the rising sun.
Geithner in the Treasury pickin’ up dough.
Auntie, does immigration bite?
Sho-wa child, sho’.Obama bowed his head because he knew that he’d been beat.
He set that golden seat on the ground at Christine’s feet.
Christine said, `Obama, just come on back if you ever want to try again,
I told you once, you son of a Kenyan: Conservatives to the end!’And she played
Fire in the First State, run boys, run.
Obama’s in the house of the rising sun.
Geithner in the Treasury pickin’ up dough.
Auntie, does immigration bite?
Sho-wa child, sho’.
Props to Charlie Daniels
