It’s All Over for Lisa the Loser

Joe Miller won the Alaska Republican nomination for Senate, and I’m tired of people pretending that there’s some way Lisa Murkowski can undo her defeat.
It can’t happen, it won’t happen, and every bit of lip-service given to hypothetical miracle resurrection scenarios where it could happen only encourages Murkowski in her delusional belief that “it ain’t over.”
It’s over, Lisa.
You’re through. You are a future ex-senator, and the sooner you admit it, the better off you’ll be.
How many absentee ballots are still out? Somebody said 8,000, and the final vote count gives Joe Miller a 1,668-vote margin. Therefore, those 8,000 absentee ballots would have to break 4,835 for Murkoski to 3,165 for Miller — i.e, a 60% majority for Murkowski — in order for Tuesday’s result to be reversed. Is there any plausible reason to believe absentee voters would be so much more pro-Murkowski than the Election Day voters who went for Miller by 51%?
Answer: No.
The absentee-ballot scenario being demonstrably implausible, we then turn our attention to the prospect of Murkowski dragging out the process in a futile recount effort. Would responsible Republican officials — the grown-ups in the party — countenance such a spoilsport tantrum by the loser of a primary?
Answer: No.
OK, so we proceed to Final Jeopardy: Would Murkowski, who was bequeathed her Senate seat through appointment by her father, former Gov. Frank Murkowski, be a viable third-party candidate?
Answer: No.
All possibilities for the viable continuance of Murkowski’s candidacy are far-fetched conjecture. The AOSHQ Decision Desk made the right call at 4 a.m. Wednesday: Break out the pudding, boys — it’s freaking over.
Having finished off the RINO loser, let me now call your attention to further evidence of why conservatives should not contribute to the NRSC:
Two months ago, National Republican Senatorial Committee officials met with strategists for the Murkowski campaign and urged them to tap her nearly $2 million treasury to begin running ads against Miller, a party official said. The campaign declined, saying that to attack him would merely elevate an opponent whom they did not consider a serious threat, the official said.
Not One Red Cent for the NRSC until John Cornyn resigns and the commitee names and fires those officials who urged Murkowski to run attack ads against Joe Miller. Don’t support the NRSC, support the RINO Killer.

There were other things I wanted to write about this evening, but now I feel like I’m obligated to write a society-page feature because the Drama Queen decided to make her debut at the cotillion:
Ken Mehlman, President Bush’s campaign manager in 2004 and a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, has told family and associates that he is gay.
Mehlman arrived at this conclusion about his identity fairly recently, he said in an interview. . . .
“It’s taken me 43 years to get comfortable with this part of my life,” said Mehlman.
Excuse my derision, and denounce me as suffering from “homophobia” — Can I get an SSI disability check for that? Would Medicaid pay for treatment? — if that satisfies your craving for a sense of moral superiority. You’re not going to guilt-trip me into pulling punches. I’m heaping the most vicious ridicule I can on this twerp for a reason: To discourage others from emulating him. Read more

It is probably in Stacy’s favor that Mrs. The Other McCain does not blog. Those who’ve enjoyed Frank J. Fleming’s acerbic wit over at IMAO can rejoice that his wife, who does blog, has finally accepted his heterosexuality.
Now, Stacy has enough children that no one is asking him too many questions. Skippy, Stacy’s edgy goth twin, remains a minor topic of discussion:

Senator John McCain: Poster Child For 17th Amendment Repeal

Yeah, Ruling Class: yeah. It is only natural that the system, rigged to favor the incumbent, returns anyone having a pulse not discovered with a dead girl or a live boy to office, irrespective of competence.
Thus, it’s difficult to blame any State for sticking with an old warhorse, *cough*West Virginia*cough*.
Note that, for a generally linear increase toward a 100% incumbency rate,

you have enjoyed a coke-snorting logger-rythmic* increase in the national debt:

But, you say, the Senate was more corrupt when it was cronies in the State capital appointing them. They are more accountable to the people via direct election.
My contention is that the corruption concentration is the same, but by concentrating it in DC, and silencing the States as such at the Federal level, a crucial negative feedback loop has been removed. This, along with the Cosmic Credit Card of the Federal Reserve, has helped precipitate the national debt and the very sort of Ruling Class overlord that the Constitution was explicitely written to preclude.
Your liberty is being slowly usurped as these overlords ensconce themselves in a watered down Castro fashion, offering you ‘freedom from fear‘ as an initially cheap, but now unfathomably expensive, substitute for God-given liberty.
Wilson, FDR, and the Progressives may have been sincere, but they’ve been proven existentially wrong for their Constiutional tinkering. This blog hoists an international gesture at these horrible ideas, and hopes to encourage the groundswell of support for a centennial (2013) repeal celebration of the unfortunate 17th Amendment.

Attending A Uniquely Cool School

The Naval Academy has a special claim to fame among American schools, and it was an honor to attend. Thank you, taxpayers! It was here that Ensign Albert Michelson conducted experiments to determine the speed of light with reasonable accuracy, which informed the work of Albert Einstein. Should we name more sons Albert?

The Naval Academy has reclaimed land from the Severn River, so discs mark the line of site Michelson used:

Behind the spot where I took that disc picture is this bronze plaque:

There are around a bazillion great things about USNA, but this, for me, is the coolest. No ridicule about the last USNA grad to win the Nobel Prize, please.
Why Joe Miller Won

“You can accomplish much, if you don’t care who gets the credit.”
— Ronald Reagan
Frankly, I’ve been patting myself on my back all morning about the prescience of my July 6 American Spectator feature about Joe Miller:
Any disinterested political observer would be tempted to rate Murkowski a lead-pipe cinch for re-election. The incumbent has only one major problem, and that problem can be summed up in two words: Sarah Palin.
Read the whole thing and tell me I didn’t nail that one, OK? But there’s a couple of things you ought to know. I never would have done that interview with Miller if it hadn’t been for frequent commenter (and longtime tip-jar hitter) Miss Sharon. She was an early supporter of Miller’s Senate campaign and pushed hard to get me to pay attention to his primary, then helped me get hooked up with his campaign staff.
Miss Sharon — her Twitter name is WooHooYoo — isn’t famous or influential. She’s just someone who has stopped asking, “What can I do?” and started doing what she can. (Good advice.)
Some people are giving Sarah Palin all the credit for Joe Miller’s miracle win in Alaska, but there are a lot of volunteers like Miss Sharon who deserve credit. And somebody pointed out today that Mark Levin did a lot to boost Joe’s campaign with this July 23 interview:
Levin helped Joe Miller get his message to a huge national radio audience and guess who turned that interview into a YouTube video? Miss Sharon.
Small world, you see? But let’s face it: The guy who did the most to help Joe Miller win was . . . Joe Miller.
He is a fine candidate with strong principles who isn’t afraid to speak the truth and speaks it clearly and intelligently. He is the kind of guy any American should be proud to support.
