My Friend Pete Parisi Had Better Hope Ann Coulter Never Sees This Video

Posted on | July 18, 2010 | 6 Comments

Pete and Ann went through the National Journalism Center program together many years ago, and we got to hang out with Coulter at a 2007 NJC event.  So when he sent me this video . . . . well, it’s just so wrong, isn’t it?

British Chocolate Millionaire’s Hedge Fund Buys 241,000 Tons of Cocoa Beans

Posted on | July 18, 2010 | 12 Comments

A real-life Willie Wonka:

Anthony Ward, 50, bought 241,000 tons of cocoa beans and now owns enough to manufacture 5.3 billion quarter-pound chocolate bars.
Mr Ward, who is worth around £36 million, holds so much of the market he could force manufacturers to raise the price of Britain’s favourite chocolate bars . . .
The transaction, the largest single cocoa trade in 14 years, was carried out last Friday by Armajaro Holdings, a hedge fund co-founded by Mr Ward. . . .
The former Chairman of the European Cocoa Association has amassed up to 15 per cent of the word’s cocoa stocks in the last ten years. . . .
Cocoa prices rose by 0.7 per cent as a result of the trade to £2,732 per metric tonne – the highest price for cocoa in Europe since 1977. It follows a series of weak harvests in Ghana and the Ivory Coast, the main areas where the crop is grown.

Yeah, this looks a smart deal for Ward now. But just wait until the Amalgamated Brotherhood of Oompa Loompas goes on strike.

Unfortunately, that’s her 1990 high school senior class yearbook photo and because we weren’t hanging out with Alameda County chicks back then, we all missed our shot at . . . Read more

Illegal Immigrants Rape 14-Year-Old Girl

Posted on | July 18, 2010 | 18 Comments

Via Pat Dollard: Send me your tired, your poor, your huddled criminal masses yearning to rape underage girls on the Fourth of July:

A pair of illegal immigrants raped a 14-year-old Texas girl at July 4th party in Texas, where the teen was later found sitting naked in a bathtub, police said.
The victim told police that she went to an Independence Day party with her cousin in Horseshoe Bay, Tex., about 40 miles northwest of Austin, where she was left in a room with Anibal Escobar, 19, and Anael Martinez, 22 . . .
The two Honduran natives, who told police they are in the U.S. illegally, made advances at the victim and then raped her, she told police. . . .
[N]one of the witnesses at the party or the suspects spoke English.

Rule 5 Sunday

by Smitty

Rule 5 has gone tropical for the week. Chilling at an old shipmate’s place on the windward side of Hawaii. But you didn’t come here for me nattering on; you’re here for the links.

  • Peek in the Well recalls the superiority of volleyball to soccer.
  • WyBlogpresents Vanessa Marcil for some bikini blogging.
  • Instapundit, in a startling move, endorses Sissy Willis’ designation of Gillespie as “Mr. Hot Intellectual Beefcake”.
  • American Power has continued to light up the Rule 5-o-sphere:
  • The Daley Gatorposts Maria Sharapova.
  • The Pirate’s Cove hints at my water-sporty immediate future.
  • GrEaT sAtAn”S gIrLfRiEnD chimes in with the usual hits:
  • The Mind Numbed Robot celebrated a ranking improvement with a mug o’ something.
  • Maggie’s Farm, clearly suffering from some sort of flood, manages to accentuate the positive aspects.
  • Uncoverage decries the fundamental silliness of recent California lunar endeavors, and governors.
  • Troglopundit is bummed out about trash TV award nominations, consoles self with Christina Hendricks pictures and Katy Perry blasphemy!
  • The Daley Gator wonders what KP would say about Lance. How do you spell a 23 second scream?
  • Washington Rebelengages in blatant copyright violation, using the lyrics of a Fear cut, in their entirety, for a post title. Rule 5 decries this rampant abuse, and pleades for a more harmonious future.

That’s your Rule 5 for now. I’ve another 40-ish links in the queue, but I’m on vacation, and feeling the need to vacate a bit.
Cheers,
Chris.

Sexy Russian Spy Anna Chapman Implicated in Money-Smuggling Ring

Posted on | July 18, 2010 | 2 Comments

Never miss an opportunity to use “Sexy Russian Spy” in a headline:

The glamorous redhead who confessed in an American court to being a Russian spy faces claims that she was involved in a money-smuggling operation while she lived in England.
Anna Chapman, 28, is said to have been behind black-market deals worth millions of pounds while working with a businessman introduced to her by her father, who is a diplomat in the Russian Embassy in the Zimbabwean capital Harare.
Working for a company called Southern Union, she is said to have organised the movement of cash from British bank accounts to Zimbabwe from the North London flat she shared with her former husband, Alex Chapman.
Yet, while Ms Chapman was never linked to the company in documents filed at Companies House, her then husband was paid £40,000 a year by the firm, which included a £10,000 payment he received on condition he was listed as a director.

The moral of the story: If you’re a hopeless loser and a hot chick suddenly takes an interest in you . . .

Yeah, my wife is suspiciously hot. I should call the FBI.

And since Mrs. Other McCain is probably reading this: I officially condemn Pat Dollard for posting the nude Anna Chapman photo.

Incredible: Joe Biden Blames Republicans for Failure of Obamanomics

Posted on | July 18, 2010 | 10 Comments

Ed Morrissey calls this a “flat-out horsecrap lie”:

“Was the $862 billion stimulus too small? It probably would have been bigger, Vice President Joe Biden said, if it weren’t for Republican opposition in early 2009.”

Hey, whatever happened to blaming Rahm Emanuel?
