TMI Twitter from Kim Kardashian

She was already in trouble for outing a federal air marshal on Twitter, now there is this bit of alarming indiscretion:

“I pretty much laser my whole body … I’m like a little hairless Chihuahua.”

This particular cosmetic trend — I’ve dubbed it the Deforestation of the Pubic Delta — is really a byproduct of the pornification of culture. In the same way, trends like breast augmentation, body piercing and tattoos for women have been mainstreamed by Continue reading TMI Twitter from Kim Kardashian →

Let’s Party Like It’s 1994!

From my latest American Spectator column:

Reagan Palooza 2010 kept cranking into the wee hours of Sunday morning on Capitol Hill. Young right-wingers were jammed onto the upstairs dance floor of the Hawk ‘n’ Dove where they partied past midnight after the final day of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.
The fire-code capacity crowd was drenched in sweat as they writhed rhythmically to the thunderous bass beats pumped out by the sound system beneath the strobing disco lights. Several of the 20-somethings were singing along to the lyrics — “This is all so crazy, everybody seems so famous” — when investigative reporter Matthew Vadum nudged me and shouted into my ear, “This is that Hannah Montana song.” Further research (which is to say, a phone call to my daughter, a college junior) confirmed that the reggae-inflected tune was in fact performed by Miley Cyrus, the teenage star of the popular Disney TV series.
“Party in the USA” was certainly appropriate as the soundtrack for this year’s CPAC, where conservatives signaled that they have regained the confidence they lost in the debacle of 2008. . . .

Please read the whole thing.

UPDATE: Some photos of scenes mentioned in the story:

The crowd jams at the Reagan Palooza. It was hotter than a sauna and so crowded that you could barely move. The redheaded guy at lower right is Blake the Blog Intern. Blake was deputized as my CPAC intern Saturday morning after we met in the smoking area outside the Marriott, and did very good work, helping me wrangle VIPs into Bloggers Lounge for interviews.

David Frum (lower right) served free beer at his Saturday party at Murphy’s Irish Pub. At left is investigative reporter Matthew Vadum. Behind him in the hat is Will Upton, editorial assistant at The American Conservative magazine. Hanging out with Frum? So much for young Upton’s paleocon street-cred, eh?

David Frum with Alabama congressional candidate Les Phillip, who’s probably got enough paleo street-cred to survive any guilt-by-association smear.

Christopher Malagisi of the Young Conservatives Coalition with Les Phillip at the Reagan Palooza. Excuse me for not remembering the name of the girl in the purple blouse. CPAC is rough on an old guy’s brain, to say nothing of my voice. I’m as hoarse as Susan Estrich, but still not quite as ugly.

The next congressman from the 5th District of Illinois, David Ratowitz, celebrates a successful CPAC with an appearance at Reagan Palooza. No scandal here. The 5th District is the kind of place where even a Republican congressional candidate is expected to have an occasional beer. Of course, political double-standards being what they are, Ratowitz’s Democratic opponent could drown a campaign aide and take money from Hamas without anybody in the Chicago media treating it as a scandal. As far as I’m concerned, the real scandal here is . . . Coors Light? Dude. Real right-wingers don’t drink “light” beer. It’s almost as bad for the paleo street-cred as hanging out with Frum.

Not mentioned in the story: The urinal in the men’s room at the Reagan Palooza. A certain Web site was a sponsor of the event and was handing out these buttons.

Pamela Geller Loves a U.S. Marine

Which is just one reason why she endorsed Rick Barber:

Rick makes reference to America’s founding as a Christian nation, to “the freedoms given to us by God, our Creator.” Pamela offers to lead “Jews for Barber” and refers to what she wrote about Democrats’ “protect the brand” strategy.

Yesterday was Rick’s birthday, and there’s a bonus here for anyone banned at Little Green Footballs: Every time you donate to Rick Barber for Congress, an angel gets his wings — and Charles Johnson dies a little bit inside.

CPAC: Stacy McCain Interviews Les Phillip

by Smitty

Update: Stacy emailed me to encourage a clarification. Phillips’ support amongst actual conservative voters is on the upswing, and rightfully so.

Stacy’s interview was captured by Da Tech Guy. A wonderful American and fellow Naval Academy grad. Try not to view Phillip’s graduation from the same school as Stacy’s cousin and Jimmy Carter as a negative thing.

Les is the insurgent candidate against a Blue Dog gone RINO. The fact that the Phillip’s GOP [national party establishment] support has dried up is just another example of why the RINO priesthood, that watered-down Progressivism, is absolutely the wrong approach to un-frobnicating the situation. So support Phillips!

And, once again, our shameless admiration of Red State must continue.

CPAC: A Couple Of Good Signs

by Smitty

Ace has a report on the “Anti-gay Speaker Booed Off the Stage at CPAC“. My take on a Federal level is highly libertarian: I don’t want DC fretting individual sexuality, reproduction, education, housing, health, or retirement.

The other, less reported bit has to do with Philip J. Berg, of obamacrimes.com. The gentleman came fishing about, looking for anyone willing to support his Birther business. Responses ranged from tepid to frigid. Reasonable guy that I am, I tried to explain that, even were his positions to hold true, the Federal government, all three branches of it, are simply never going to admit that they utterly tubed the 2008 election. The point is moot, and the Federal deficit/debt are far more important.

So, Birtherism was as stillborn as homophobia at CPAC. Yay!

And, as noted on the mailing list, mad props to Red State for all the great work they did.

CPAC: The Sundries Shack Breitbart Review

by Smitty

Jimmie at The Sundries Shack offers a great review/summary of Andrew Breitbart at CPAC.

Andrew has already earned a Presidential Medal of Freedom, as far as this blog is concerned. When he stopped by Blogger Row, Andrew was humble, encouraging, and inspirational.

What the Left may be too dim to understand is that, in subjecting people to the heat and stress of Alinsky’s personal attack rule (12?) is that it turns common coal into diamonds. Shine on, you bad mike foxtrot diamond Andrew!  As a corollary, let more of us step up to the plate.  Me, I’ll let Destiny pick the situation, with confidence that the correct response will be available.

Rule 5 Sunday

by Smitty

Rule 5 is tanned, rested, and ready to rumble following a monster Sunday nap.

  • Instapundit was unimpressed with the Christina Hendricks kerfuffle last week:

s this really as much of a mystery as the story makes it sound?Firefly fans (“Our Mrs. Reynolds”), of course, caught on long before Mad Men informed the masses.

  • Troglopundit touts the fact that he was Danicablogging before it was cool. What Trog doesn’t understand about shamelessness is that, like hypocrisy, shamelessness achieves nirvana by pointing at a mere amateur and claiming they are worse. So this blog will cheerfully pile on the Troglopundit for his pathetic, groveling, sycophantic attempts to garner favor with Danica, while we await the magical Alyssa Milano retweet. I mean, look at this guy trying to go for the Sarah/Danica twofer. Trog was not afraid to divert from his Danica fixation for a bit of Christina Hendricks blogging.
  • Catching up with The Pirate’s Cove remains a source of fine cheesecake, but is unafraid to muster Julie Mancuso as required.
  • Smash Mouth Politics, our local Megan Fox expert, gives the finger to the thumb double in the Motorola commercial.
  • The Daley Gator points to Guns and Bikinis, that pressing existential threat to peanut butter and chocolate.
  • SI VIS PACEM brings you Mata Hari, for that Rule 5/History combination that keeps this post such a high-brow affair.
  • Andrew Ian Dodge, who disproved my suspicion that he is really Ozzy Osbourne at CPAC, but not by much, brought in some Rule 5 and background info on Doug Fieger and My Sharona.
  • Dustbury reminds us of Bonnie Hunt, a bonnie lass indeed. The Cindy Crawford follow-up was highly welcome.
  • House of Eratosthenese, in our science segment, elaborates on the waste/hip ratio discovery. Research, people: research.
  • American Power expends punctuation for “Gemma Atkinson!”
  • The Daley Gator sees American Power’s post, and raises things to the level of a full-on boob war. Although I think The Daley Gator referred to cleavage more than the participants. Oh, the ambiguity of English!
  • Three Beers Later followed up the BW declaration with a clip of Milena Miconi. And some Denise Milani.
  • Proof Positive opted for a PETA model and anti-favorite TOM advertisment personality.
  • American Power, possibly outgunned, replied in a cheeky fashion.
  • Yankee Phil seems to be using Fishersville Mike as a shotput target. Let’s keep this as geneteel as George Will column, gentlemen.
  • Power Line, possibly our most high-brow participant, posts concerning President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla. Scroll down and see a hand gesture that preceeds either a veto or a lightning bolt, or perhaps both. Ladies in high office are teh hawt.
  • Fishersville Mike like country music and Sarah Buxton.
  • The Eye of Polyphemus points to Jessica Simpson in Allure.
  • Point of a Gun points out the hotties in the Keynes/Hayek video. I’ll confess that my rap threshold was crossed too early to make it that far at the first viewing.
  • Honesty in Motion highlighted Ukrainian PM Yulia Tymoshenko. She’d be a dish without the braids, but they are quite distinctive, no?
  • Paco serves up the Dinning Sisters. We need a command performance at CPAC next year from The Enterprising One.
  • Proof Positive brings you Brooke Langton.
  • The Classic Liberal coaxes a fix for unemployment from Blake Lively. Then he throws out a Hey Ladies clip from the Beastie Boys. A fun track from a while back.
  • Nation of Cowards posts a tribute to Lindsey Vonn.
  • GrEaT sAtAn”S gIrLfRiEnD has another winged hottie, along with a really smart Afghanistan post, under all that gnarly talk.
  • The Reganite Republican Resistance brings you Eva Herzigová. I sat next to a college student from the Czech Republic during Beck’s CPAC closer, and can attest that the water there must be fine indeed.
  • Trainwife1962 thought that Mike Pence was Rule 5 material, from the Blogger Row Q&A.
  • The Camp of the Saints is rockin’ the Rule 5:
  • Here’s My Thing brings the Jennifer Aniston.
  • The Pegu Blog featured a fine libation cartoon of sorts.
