The Twitter Necropolis

This is not @jack, suspenders alluding to some perceived
personal superiority, gazing down upon the masses
of Twitter with Olympian disdain.
Social media in general, and Twitter in particular, seem to have gone sideways of late. People tending to be on the right politically just seem to get whisked off to the cornfield. Stacy McCain’s largish account got whacked some time ago, though he still tweets on. Alex Jones, of course (never a fan) has been banned. Laura Loomer was busted, apparently, for being insufficiently down with Sharia Law and its proponents. Jesse Kelly’s ejection was enough to trigger Instapundit to deactivate his account in what I guess is a “autocornfieldification”.
I myself have felt that “somebody” is squelching my tweets for years. (It’s entirely possible that my stylings have alienated enough people that it’s all just so much muting.) My tweet activity has fallen off by about 50%. And I really don’t care. Schoolwork should be a higher priority anyway.
This morning it occurred to me that the Lefty Social Dystopia (LSD) crowd don’t really care much about any of us pipsqueak conservatives on our own. These cornfieldian whiskings are really just placeholders for the one person that they just can’t blow away, no matter how much testosterone collects in the the Ban Finger: @realDonaldTrump.
Folks on our side need to tweet like hell as if we’re already banned.
They ban enough of us, hopefully @POTUS will notice and join/create another platform.
One of the biggest reasons I’m here is to bypass the MSM and hear directly from @realDonaldTrump https://t.co/lX7BF0ONg7

That’s right. Social Media was a fine means of tightening Progressive control of our society until DJT started to use it to bypass the Fourth Estate. Policies are mostly musical chairs; you can watch pretty much every Congresscritter argue with themselves over time on YouTube on a host of issues. But you let someone like Trump bypass the chain of command and treat social media like a fireside chat, and blaspheme the Fourth Estate while doing it, and all Portland breaks loose.
I wish I could tell where all of this ends up. The future is overcast, with some serious thunderheads rolling in. Trump ought to be cruising to a strong re-election showing. But the pointy-bearded Lefty overlords seem prepared to pull a Reverse Sherman, and just burn the whole country down, like Stacy Abrams in Georgia, instead of letting our Constitution just be itself.
Further, what we do after Trump is a vast unknown. He’s truly an American original, and nobody has any business trying to emulate him. To borrow an Instapunditism “We can do worse, and probably will.”

The Media: Stupid or Dishonest?
Posted on | November 26, 2018 | Comments Off on The Media: Stupid or Dishonest?
“I don’t think our media is really this dumb,” Hot Air’s John Sexton writes. “Rather, I think they’re being intentionally dishonest.” The subject was CNN’s coverage of the “migrant caravan”:
It started when CNN’s John Berman introduced the story this way: “U.S. border patrol agents deployed tear-gas on Central Americans seeking asylum, this does include women and children, during an incident near one of the world’s busiest border crossings.” CNN went on to frame the incident as a “peaceful march” that “devolved into chaos.” . . .
I don’t think our media is really this dumb. Rather, I think they’re being intentionally dishonest. The intent of this group was always to do exactly what it did, i.e. rush the border in numbers in hopes of overwhelming authorities.
Meanwhile, Ace points out that MSNBC appears to be shocked — shocked! — that the caravan isn’t a bunch of helpless women and children. Instead, as conservatives have been saying all along, this dangerous mob of foreigners is composed almost entirely of young men who hate America. In other words, this is a hostile invasion.
You know this. CNN knows this, too. They are on the side of the enemy. The people who run CNN hate America and are trying to destroy it.

Lawsuit Blames Sheriff for ‘Devaluation of African-American Life in Pinellas County’
Posted on | November 26, 2018 | Comments Off on Lawsuit Blames Sheriff for ‘Devaluation of African-American Life in Pinellas County’
In March 2016, three teenage car thieves stole Damian Marriott’s 1998 Honda Accord and went joy-riding around Pinellas County, Florida. Their crime spree ended shortly before dawn, when they drove the car into a pond in Royal Palm Cemetery in St. Petersburg:
After trying twice that evening to stop the Honda, deputies followed the vehicle as it turned into the cemetery and drove into the pond at about 4 a.m. Deputies went into the pond after the sinking car, but abandoned their efforts because of the muddy water and excessive plant growth. After the four-door sedan was towed out of the pond hours later, investigators determined the girls drowned. . . .
Following the tragedy Sheriff Bob Gualtieri pointed out the teen’ criminal histories, which included seven arrests among them for grand theft auto in the last year.
The deaths of these young criminals prompted a lawsuit:
A lawsuit lodged against law enforcement by the mothers of three teenage girls, who drowned after the stolen car they were driving plunged into a cemetery pond, saw a major shake-up when two of the mothers backed out of the case.
Ciara Butler and Natasha Winkler dismissed their claims last month, according to court records. The remaining mother appears to be pressing forward without a lawyer, seeking damages for what the complaint says were discriminatory and negligent actions that led to the deaths of Dominique Battle, 16, and Ashaunti Butler and LaNiya Miller, both 15.
The flurry of court filings show a tense back-and-forth between the plaintiffs, who were represented by Clearwater civil rights attorney Michele Rayner, and Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri. . . .
Rayner declined to comment, saying it would be “wholly inappropriate” for her to talk to a reporter while the suit is ongoing. Butler and Winkler, the mothers of Ashaunti and LaNiya, could not be reached for comment.
Yashica Clemmons, the mother of Dominique, could not be reached for comment after repeated attempts and a visit to her home, nor could a lawyer who represented her in the aftermath of the March 2016 crash. The lawyer, Aaron O’Neal, worked with Clemmons, who later adopted the name Kunde Mwamvita, through the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement. The community group rallied around the families after the crash and contend police killed the girls because they were black.
The crash became a contentious flash point in a long line of deadly Pinellas car thefts perpetuated by teenagers. The Tampa Bay Times published a series about the epidemic last year that showed teens steal cars in Pinellas more than anywhere in the state.
Just this week, 18-year-old Damari Milton lost control of a stolen Mazda Miata and hit a tree at 38th Avenue N and 49th Street. The car burst into flames, killing Milton and his 16-year-old passenger, Dequante Lightsey.
The lawsuit, filed in June in federal court, claims that deputies chased the three girls into the cemetery, then didn’t try to help them as the stolen Honda Accord disappeared into the muck. It goes on to allege the Sheriff’s Office has repeatedly engaged in unconstitutional behavior and discriminatory actions due to a lack of training and discipline.
“The wrongful deaths … were directly and proximately caused by the failures, negligence, and carelessness of” the county and the sheriff, the lawsuit says, “because it produced or contributed to deputies’ devaluation of African-American life in Pinellas County.”
Who’s actually devaluing life here? Isn’t it the parents of these adolescent criminals, who failed to teach their children not to steal cars?
How hard is it to say, “Hey, kids, grand theft auto is wrong”? That’s not really too much work to expect parenting-wise, is it? But it seems many parents in Pinellas County can’t be bothered:
Two teens died when the stolen car they were driving hit a tree and erupted in flames early Monday [Nov. 19], police said, marking the tenth and eleventh deaths connected to Pinellas County’s juvenile auto theft epidemic in little more than three years.
Damari Milton, 18, was driving and Dequante Lightsey, 16, was a passenger, police said. The 2016 Mazda Miata swerved at 38th Avenue N and 49th Street about 3:30 a.m., colliding with a tree. Investigators say Milton was speeding. Authorities initially reported that both boys’ bodies were burned beyond recognition. . . .
Both Milton and Lightsey had been accused of grand theft auto before, according to state criminal records. Milton had also faced other charges, dating to 2015 and including weapon possession and burglary. Lightsey, records show, had likewise been accused of burglary and larceny. . . .
Statistics in St. Petersburg show officers have logged 636 reports of auto thefts to date in 2018, down from 804 this time last year. . . .
Milton, who turned 18 on Aug. 30 . . . was arrested Nov. 12, 2015, accused of stealing a car from his mother. He picked up his girlfriend, 15 at the time just like him, according to a police report, and drove a 2007 Dodge Nitro into a tree.
She suffered “significant injuries to her face.” He ran away. . . .
A Facebook page that appears to belong to him on Monday featured a photo of Milton reclined on a bed holding what looked like three guns.
At his feet lay a pile of car keys.
Hey, Pinellas County parents, if your kid dies in a crash while driving a stolen car, don’t blame the sheriff. That’s on you.

Suspect in Hate Crime at L.A. Synagogue Is Probably Not a Trump Supporter
Posted on | November 26, 2018 | Comments Off on Suspect in Hate Crime at L.A. Synagogue Is Probably Not a Trump Supporter
Don’t expect to see this story on CNN. Call it a hunch:
A man was in custody Monday for allegedly trying to run over two men outside a synagogue in a largely Jewish Wilshire-area neighborhood and making anti-Semitic remarks in a case that has been classified by police as a hate crime.
No one was hurt in the confrontation that occurred about 9:30 p.m. Friday near La Brea and Oakwood avenues, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Mohamed Mohamed Abdi, 32, was booked on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon — the vehicle — and the case has been classified as a hate crime, Deputy Chief Horace Frank said at a news conference at LAPD headquarters.
Frank said Abdi, who remains in custody on $55,000 bail, was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, and lives in the United States as a U.S. citizen. The FBI was involved in the investigation, and Abdi could face federal charges, Frank said.
LAPD Chief Michel Moore said two men had just left a synagogue in the 300 block of La Brea Avenue and were walking toward Oakwood Avenue when Abdi allegedly tried to run them over with a vehicle.
“He’s yelling out hateful remarks regarding Jewish heritage and regarding these people of faith,” Moore said. “They watch him as he then turns his vehicle directly at them.”
David Bernstein writes at Instapundit:
After the Pittsburgh shooting, the Jewish left went nuts, blaming Trump, Trump-supporting Jews, and Israel (!) for the incident. The Atlantic’s Franklin Foer wrote, “Any strategy for enhancing the security of American Jewry should involve shunning Trump’s Jewish enablers. Their money should be refused, their presence in synagogues not welcome. They have placed their community in danger.”
The perp in L.A., however, was not a “white nationalist” but a Muslim named Mohammed Mohammed. I want Foer to follow his own logic. If “Trump’s Jewish enablers” were to blame for Pittsburgh, who in the Jewish community is to blame for Los Angeles? And who should be “shunned” now?
The liberal media only consider violent Jew-haters newsworthy when they can be connected, however tenuously, to Republicans. In the same way, sexual assault on university campuses is only newsworthy when “privileged” white males are accused. If you name is Mohammed Mohammed, no crime you commit is ever worth noticing, according to liberals, but if a crazy white guy goes on a murder rampage, it will get 24/7 coverage at CNN for a week. By the way, 2,718 people have been shot, 457 of them fatally, in Chicago so far this year. CNN doesn’t care.
Emergency Tip-Jar Rattle: $557

OK, I just learned that I need to come up with $557 ASAP, and it’s embarrassing to explain why, so I won’t. But if readers could make some small contribution — $5, $10, $20, whatever — I would be most grateful. The Five Most Important Words in the English Language are:
Twitter Bans Iraq Veteran Jesse Kelly; Glenn Reynolds Quits Platform in Protest
Posted on | November 26, 2018 | Comments Off on Twitter Bans Iraq Veteran Jesse Kelly; Glenn Reynolds Quits Platform in Protest
Silicon Valley’s war against free speech continues:
Federalist Contributor Jesse Kelly was permanently suspended from Twitter on Sunday for “repeat violations of the Twitter rules,” according to a message from Twitter Support. Kelly is a combat Veteran Marine, conservative radio host, and former Republican candidate for U.S. Congress.
Twitter did not explain what rules Kelly violated, or if there was a specific tweet in question. . . .
Kelly has written about Twitter’s banning of Alex Jones and warned that the speech police will be coming after conservatives next. “They do not want to compete in a marketplace of ideas. Their goal is to silence dissenting voices,” he wrote.
Kelly is a frequent guest on Fox News, and ironically, his last appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show was to discuss online censorship.
More background from Allum Bokhari at Breitbart:
Jesse Kelly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2000 to 2004, and saw combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following his service in the Marines, Kelly contested multiple congressional races in Arizona.
Kelly was the Republican nominee in Arizona’s 8th district in 2010, where he came within a single percentage point of beating incumbent Democrat Gabrielle Giffords. After withdrawing from a brief attempt to secure the Republican nomination for Arizona’s 2nd congressional district in 2012, Kelly successfully sought the Republican nomination for the special election in Arizona’s 8th district in the same year, although he ultimately lost that election to Democrat Ron Barber.
It’s unknown if Kelly will run for office again, but if he does he’ll have to do so without a Twitter account — a major disadvantage for a politician in the digital era.
Kelly currently hosts The Jesse Kelly Show on iHeart Radio. . . .
Kelly’s suspension sparked outrage on Twitter, where the Marine Corps veteran had a large following. Multiple conservative and populist figures spoke out against his ban from the platform. . . .
Kelly himself previously warned that the ban of Jones and InfoWars was part of a slippery slope that would eventually affect all conservatives on social media. “They just knew Jones was the weak member of the herd. They could pick him off as a test run” wrote Kelly. “Next they’re coming for you.”
Professor Glenn Reynolds is tired of the Thought Police on Twitter:
Why should I provide free content to people I don’t like, who hate me? I’m currently working on a book on social media, and I keep coming back to the point that Twitter is far and away the most socially destructive of the various platforms. So I decided to suspend them, as they are suspending others. At least I’m giving my reasons, which is more than they’ve done usually.
Internet platforms are simply tools for communication. When the proprietors of a platform surrender to Thought Police who attempt to prevent communication — deciding that people they disagree with cannot use these tools — they are destroying the utility of their own product.
UPDATE: Yesterday, I urged readers to tweet a simple message — “Jonathan Yaniv Is Not a Woman #IStandWithMeghanMurphy” — and today multiple people have informed me their Twitter accounts have been suspended until they delete these messages. Twitter has surrendered to the demands of a deranged Canadian pervert, while at the same time banning Marine Corps combat veterans from their platform.
