MSNBC OMFG: @ChrisLHayes and Guest @RichardKimNYC Talk About Butt Sex

If you wonder why Chris Hayes’ ratings are so low — he gets fewer viewers (622,000) at 8 p.m. ET than either Chris Matthews at 7 p.m. (798,000) or Rachel Maddow at 9 p.m. (712,000) — this one-minute video clip from Thursday may explain a lot:

HAYES: I was a little surprised, given how vile the comments are, given the very rapidly shifting norms about how people feel about love between people of the same gender, right? That the right-wingers sort of lined up so quickly behind him.
KIM: Yeah, and you know, I think one of the really funny things about the comments was just the sort of anatomical crudeness of them. Like he said the vagina is more desireable than the anus, and it’s sort of like, has he tried the anus? Because maybe if he did, he would like it more. If you’re going to reduce something as complex as human sexuality to which orifice is better …
HAYES: That’s a great follow-up question.

Suffice to say that prime-time discussions of anal sex with Richard Kim — whose expertise on the subject I’m sure we’re all willing to stipulate — probably aren’t helping MSNBC’s ratings.

  1. If the topic is sexuality, isn’t the orifice used of initial, critical importance? I mean, it isn’t trivial, is it?

That statement is akin to “If you’re going to reduce something as complex as carpentry to which tool is better…”

  2. I’m still trying to find the “vile” thing he said.

The brilliant journalists seem more interested in stumbling over each other to see who can denounce what he said than they do in reading what he said.

  3. I also hear that he’s very heteronormative.

I don’t know what that means, but I gather that it’s very, very bad.

  4. Sex and it’s associated drive (ie carnal lust) are physiologically a procreative function. Last I checked, the anus wasn’t participating in that function.

  5. As long as you don’t watch MSNBC while conservative, you won’t contract this sad, and most likely, chronic condition.

  6. That’s one consequence…. I can think of several others far more horrifying especially in the Muslim parts of the planet.

  7. Let’s not forget the lawfare against private citizens…. which is where the whole thing should start bumping up against the 1st Amendment.

  8. Deal!! “McCainiacs” – I like that!!

Joining Twitter will be one of my Xmas activities! If I wasn’t so bogged down with work, I would have joined already… Everybody already on Xmas holiday and here I am slaving away… :-////

We cannot escape being swept away by the social media vortex… God help us… 😉 What will become of my life??? LOL

  9. After every show, Chris gets into his tartan jammies with feet and the back door for when he goes poopy . . . and other things.

  10. You’ll have to let us all know your Twitter handle when you join. In fact, I think that his wombatness ought to have a separate post about it, so that none of us will miss it!

  11. Anal sex, whether heterosexual or homosexual, is a very good way to spread pathogens and thus tends to increase rates of morbidity. and mortality.

In other words, if you have to pay higher premiums for smoking, you should be required to pay higher premiums if you practice certain sexual acts..

Rewrite that scene from Erin Brockovich; “By the way, we had that water brought in specially for you folks. Came from a well contaminated with fecal matter.”

  12. Reminds me of the old Gahan Wilson cartoon where a reporter shows up at the chemical plant…

Everyone at the plant is all horribly disfigured, including the guard at the guard house (you know how he drew ’em). The guard is saying, “Chemical spill? What chemical spill? Anybody here know anything about a chemical spill?”
