‘Camp Epic’: Gay California Teacher Molested Boys as Young as 11

“Allegedly”it’s important always to add “allegedly”:

Even as he allegedly abused the middle-school age children left in his care, even as he purportedly lied to parents about field trips throughout the Bay Area, court documents show that Ronald Guinto articulated a strict code to his campers: “What happens at Camp Epic stays at Camp Epic.”
What allegedly happened on the off-campus, overnight camping trips was repeated sexual abuse of 11-and 12-year old boys, the documents say. . . .
Authorities say Guinto recruited his victims while he was teaching at Making Waves Academy, a charter school in Richmond near Hilltop Mall, to join Camp Epic, an organization he founded in 2009 as part of his Master’s degree program in urban education. Nineteen students have been identified as participating in Camp Epic, which has no affiliation with the charter school . . . investigation into Guinto began on Oct. 29, when an administrator at Making Waves called Richmond police to report Guinto had been placed on administrative leave for an inappropriate Facebook conversation with an 11-year-old student, according to a probable cause statement by lead investigator Detective Walton Nelson.
Within weeks, investigators uncovered Guinto had taken students on trips to Mount Diablo State Park, San Jose, Yosemite, and Napa, engaging in sex acts with students inside tents beginning in December 2012 and ending as recently as Oct. 26, three days before police were notified, according to documents. On that outing, the parents of one of the boys said they thought their son and other students were camping overnight at Mare Island, but Guinto instead took them [to] a Motel 6 in Vallejo, Nelson wrote. Guinto allegedly slept in the same bed as two boys.
One 12-year-old boy told an investigator that his alleged abuse began in December 2012, when he was sleeping in a tent with Guinto and another student. Guinto allegedly asked the boy if he could fondle him, the first of about 30 such incidents spread over about 10 campouts, according to documents.
At a camping trip in Napa Skyline in 2013, the boy said, Guinto woke him up in the middle of the night to show him a video titled “Teacher Porn,” and then performed oral sex on him. . . .

Read the whole thing. Nothing to see here. Move along.

H8er! Even if this is true, it has nothing to do with homosexuality, nothing at all! The linked article says nothing at all about Mr Guinto being homosexual, and I heartily, heartily! denounce you for implying, through your article title, that he is homosexual and that that has something to do with the alleged offenses!

I never use the word “gay,” which means happy and carefree, to refer to homosexuals. It’s surrendering control of the language to them.

I could think of other words, but they are not for polite society. In the South didn’t they refer to them as “Gentlemen bachelors”?

Right up until they molested someone’s kid. Then they were called “unfortunate accident victims.”

Camp derives from the French term se camper, meaning “to pose in an exaggerated fashion”. The OED gives 1909 as the first print citation of camp as

ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to, characteristic of, homosexuals. So as a noun,‘camp’ behaviour, mannerisms, et cetera. (cf. quot. 1909); a man exhibiting such behaviour.

Later, it evolved into a general description of the aesthetic choices and behaviour of working-class homosexual men. The rise of post-modernism made ‘camp’ a common perspective on aesthetics, which was not identified with any specific group. The attitude originally was a distinctive factor in pre-Stonewall gay male communities, where it was the dominant cultural pattern. It originated from the acceptance of gayness as effeminacy[…].

If a straight man molests little girls should we blame his straightness? Absolutely not. The same applies for the gayness of the California teacher.

This is going to be the most sane comment that can possibly be expected in this thread (going by the already posted comments that seem to be concerned only about the perpetrator’s gayness.)

You know, the biggest upside to banning that kind of behavior was that it was easier to go after the real predators.

A catamite is a boy kept by a pederast, which is exactly what the alleged assailant supposedly did to these boys. Why would you think that recognizing this is evidence of someone being a”disturbed person?”

Read Zohydro’s previous comments like this “If those boys didn’t know what a “catamite” is before, they do now!”

Yet, somehow, some way, it appears that male child molesters target young boys in a far greater percentage than the homosexual male percentage of the population. Why is that?

  28. Dana
    March 16th, 2014 @ 12:28 pm

It is an expression of correct language. Catamite is a perfectly good word, and one which is accurately descriptive. Perhaps if young boys learn what catamite means, and that it is both wrong and denigrating, on every level, to be one, perhaps they will be better able to defend themselves from the intentions of the pederasts.

  29. Anamika
    March 16th, 2014 @ 12:47 pm

Doesn’t it also appear that female child molesters target young girls in a far greater percentage than the heterosexual male percentage of the population.
    Why is that?

The answer to both questions is the same; reason why there are always far more male criminals than female ones throughout history in any society.

  30. Anamika
    March 16th, 2014 @ 12:53 pm

  33. Dana
    March 16th, 2014 @ 1:27 pm

Sorry, wrong answer. While it’s certainly true that there are more male than female criminals, that wasn’t the point. The point was that male child molesters ought to molest girls 96 to 98% of the time, if homosexuality wasn’t a factor, since only 2 to 4% of the population are homosexual.

Instead, while the statistics get obscured by political correctness, it appears that male child molesters assault boys rather than girls at least a third of the time. In the best study that we have, the John Jay report concerning child sexual abuse by Catholic priests, a whopping 81% of their victims were adolescent boys, not girls.

If you ignore political correctness, while most homosexuals are not child molesters, there is a strong correlation between child molestation and homosexuality.

I wasn’t clear to me in your original comment whether u were referring to male child-molesters or male-child molesters.

Not all people who molest young boys are gays. You mention the pedophile priests…they have access to young boys in their work environment…its the children they are attracted to, not so much the gender that might explains the figures….

Anyway, your assumptions are stereotypes & not backed by facts:

    http://psychology.ucdavis.edu/faculty_sites/rainbow/html/facts_molestation.html
“The empirical research does not show that gay or bisexual men are any more likely than heterosexual men to molest children. This is not to argue that homosexual and bisexual men never molest children.
But there is no scientific basis for asserting that they are more likely than heterosexual men to do so. And, as explained above, many child molesters cannot be characterized as having an adult sexual orientation at all; they are fixated on children.”

  47. Anamika
    March 16th, 2014 @ 3:00 pm

Gay men are no more likely to be sexually attracted to children than straight men.

“According to Dr. Fred Berlin[…] pedophilia is a distinct sexual orientation marked by persistent, sometimes exclusive, attraction to prepubescent children.”

    http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,232584-1,00.html

“We do not find a connection between homosexual identity and the increased likelihood of subsequent abuse from the data that we have right now … It’s important to separate the sexual identity and the behavior. Someone can commit sexual acts that might be of a homosexual nature but not have a homosexual identity.”

“Although the majority of clergy abuse victims are males, homosexuality cannot be blamed. First, many of the pedophile priests report that they are not homosexual. This is also true of many non-clergy sex offenders who victimize boys. Many report that they target boys for a variety of reasons that include easier access to boys … pregnancy fears with female victims … homosexuals in general have not been found to be more
likely to commit sexual crimes against minors compared to
heterosexuals. Sexual orientation is not predictive of sex crimes”

Anamika, I’m Catholic, and I know who the parishioners are, and there are just as many — really, probably more — altar girls than altar boys these days. There is at least as much of an opportunity to target females as males.

Of course, the problem isn’t child molestation as much as it is the sexual abuse of adolescents and younger teens, victims just starting to develop their sexual characteristics. I’ll be clear here: these abusers are homosexuals! You can try to deny the truth all that you want, but it’s still the truth. And the saddest part isn’t that you are lying to us, but that you are lying to yourself.
